Never have I ever been charged extra for syrup. We also ordered the croquetas and they were mushy . We spent 97.00 tip included for a Lousy Meal and all we ate was Burnt Pastelitos TasteLess Harina and Cornbread and I forgot the Tostada drenched in butter . Despite having a reservation, we were seated at a table that clearly didn't accommodate our party. My tea never arrived at all, and my food was served only after everyone else at the table had already finished eating. The timing and distribution of dishes were completely off. Lots of hype, but didn't live up to it. I was so excited to try this spot -- it's in a great location at Cocowalk, and I'd heard so much about it. The restaurant itself is pretty small, and we ended up sitting outside. Even my boyfriend, who's a plain cheeseburger-only kind of guy, loved them -- that was a win. But the famous pancake they're known for? Totally underwhelming. It was burnt on the outside (which I actually didn't mind -- nice crunch), but the inside was way too mushy. Just not a great texture overall. I was finally able to dine at Chug's (as i've heard so much about it) and I loved it. I had the lechón sandwich my first time, and the lechón hash my second time, both delicious. The lechón hash comes in a metal skillet that mixes a few breakfast items together. The only downside is that they don't accept reservations, so expect to wait at least 20 minutes to sit down (on a regular day). Although I do understand this is probably by design. I was able to sit with my friend at the counter quickly as those are first come, first served. I love that the menu mixes traditional american breakfast with Cuban style/flavor. I ordered the Pan Con Bistec and it was one of the best sandwiches I have ever eaten. It is a sub roll(fresh soft bread) with short rib meet, crispy onions and an amazing sauce. The total home run was the au jus that comes along in a small bowl. Did I say that this was amazing!!! I noticed a post that this place is a Michelin recognized restaurant in 2025. I totally agree. I first heard about Chug's because of their Cast-Iron Pancakes, and a few friends recommended it as well; after trying their breakfast menu, call me a fan. On this visit, I tried their iced cafe con leche, Cast-Iron Pancake, and La Completa. Everything was delicious. La Completa consists of three eggs, Waxman potatoes, and a tostada. I asked for my eggs to be scrambled with cheese and added Taylor Ham to my plate. I'm slowly working my way back to eating eggs, and these are the kind that I will have again. They were fresh, had the right texture, and the touch of fresh herbs on top was excellent. The Waxman Potatoes were perfectly roasted and seasoned. The ham and tostada were great, too. La Completa is the perfect dish if you want la combinación perfecta para un desayuno completo. The Cast Iron Pancake is a dream. You will close your eyes and smile at the first bite. It is fluffy on the inside and nice and crisp on the outside. Overall, Chug's was fantastic. The service was very attentive and kind, and the food was fantastic. So excited to try this place and ended up coming on a Saturday morning. There was a 30-40 minute wait and we ended up walking down the street to the Coconut Grove Farmers market to head a coffee while we waited. They sat us in their cute outside patio area and we really appreciated all of the fans they had running to keep us as cool as you can be in the south Florida heat. Ordered the lechón sandwich, pan con bistec, breakfast fried rice, and the famous pancake! The lechón sandwich can with a perfectly fried egg that melded well with the pork and the bun was outstanding. The breakfast fried rice was delicious, filling and topped again with a perfectly fried egg. The pan con bistec was not only huge, flavorful and topped perfectly melted cheese and caramelizad onions it also came with an au jus sauce to dip in. It was perfect to dip the crusty bread in. The pancake! Absolutely HUGE. It has a nice crust from the pan cook and is surprisingly light for how it looks. It wasn't too sweet like some pancake batter can be and it pairs really well with the butter and flaky salt that they top it with. We ordered the cafe con leche which was great but I was really impressed by the cortadito drink, which is a hot espresso with sweetened evaporated milk. For food we had: Cast Iron Pancake: 4.8/5 Really impressive all around, tasted like a combination of pancake and shortbread, and the syrup and butter was perfect with it. I can see how you could get tired of eating the same flavor after a couple bites so I recommend sharing this and another dish with other people in your group. Duck Croqueta: 1/5 I had high hopes for the croqueta but it ultimately was disappointing. My wife and I love duck but we were pretty unhappy with how this tasted.
