I'm a regular at North and never felt the need to review but tonight was great. I feel like they changed their pizza dough recipe and it has way more flavor now - very impressed!! We also couldn't decide what to have and ended up doing the spicy meatball pizza, a Caesar salad, and the bolognese. They split the salad and the pasta 3 ways which was so convenient! It's a loud restaurant so request Bar North if you can! Otherwise we love this place read more

We've always enjoyed North Italia, so we decided to go back to the Kierland location.While the food was mostly just as good, the overall atmosphere didn't quite match the Gilbert restaurant. The biggest difference was the ambiance. The music was so loud that it made conversation at our table difficult, and the tables were placed very close together, making the dining room feel a bit cramped. It lacked the relaxed, inviting vibe we've come to expect from the Gilbert location. We started with the Cacio e Pepe Arancini, and it was every bit as delicious as we remembered. Crispy on the outside, creamy on the inside, and full of flavor, it's still one of our favorite appetizers. We also shared the Little Gem Caesar Salad, which had just the right amount of dressing and was fresh, crisp, and satisfying. For my entrée, I ordered the Shrimp Scampi, which was delicious with perfectly cooked shrimp and great flavor. Around the table we also tried the Agnolotti Pomodori, which was very enjoyable, and the Spicy Rigatoni, another solid choice with just the right amount of heat. Dessert was the only real disappointment. We finished with the Banana Caramel Butter Cake, but unfortunately it was quite dry and didn't live up to the rest of the meal. Although this location didn't have the same atmosphere as Gilbert, the kitchen still delivered several excellent dishes. I'd happily return for the arancini and pasta, but I hope they turn the music down a bit and give diners a little more breathing room between tables so the overall experience is as enjoyable as the food. read more

Our company hosted an event here a few weeks ago which was the perfect location. We were brought back into a little private 'greenhouse' feel. The staff was so accommodating and quick to assist us. They had several servers helping our party, which was great because there was a lot of us. We walked in and ordered a Moscow mule (clearly my signature drink). I spent some time mingling before I sat down and ate. The food was absolutely delicious. I started off with meatballs, had some chicken parmesan, pizza, and salad. To be honest, I can't really tell you what my favorite was because the entire meal was unbelievably good. They brought out some tiramisu for dessert as well. We absolutely loved our experience here and are excited that this is located in our hometown, too. read more

This place had great reviews and definitely had a steady crowd. Although we did not have a reservation on a Friday night, the hostess was very accommodating and let us know we could be seated for the first available table within 10 to 15 minutes, so that was nice. Once we got seated, even getting water or an acknowledgement was delayed. Our waiter had a very high-maintenance family beside us, and he indicated he would be with us shortly. To start, we ordered the White Truffle garlic bread, then one Cacio de Pepe Pizza and one Mushroom pizza. Unfortunately, our waiter forgot to put our order for the Garlic bread. We thought it was for the best since our pizzas were pretty hefty. Plus, the hot oil was a nice addition. While I saw our waiter with the water jug, he did not make it to us to refill our glasses, as I saw him serving other tables. I loved the Cacio de Pepe plus the hotel oil. The Mushroom Pizza was also very good. The crusts and overall flavors were great. The weather was beautiful, so we enjoyed outdoor seating at this small quaint little restaurant in Scottsdale. I would recommend making a reservation because it is a popular place. We were celebrating my friend's birthday and our party of four all enjoyed our various meals. I had the chicken with beet salad. It was a generous portion and I actually took some home and finished it off for dinner. The service was very good. We came here on a Tuesday night and had no problem finding parking and there was plenty of seating inside. The White Truffle Garlic Bread was recommended as a starter and I could see why; it was delicious. We also enjoyed the calamari as well. For our mains, we had a Hot Honey & Smoked Prosciutto Pizza and Chicken Parmesan, which comes with rigatoni. I switched to a red sauce on the pasta. The pasta was good, but the best part of the meal was the Chicken Parmesan. It was very good, and I would have this again. Service the entire evening was good and attentive. This visit was good overall. The drinks are always consistent -- I love my amaretto sour. Not every bartender adds foam, and they always do, which I appreciate. The pasta was very good. The horseradish was noticeable but well balanced and not overpowering. The braised short ribs were very tender, almost like pot roast, and easy to cut with a fork. However, they leaned noticeably salty, which made the dish feel a bit one-note and contrasted too sharply with the pasta. I also had the tiramisu for dessert (no picture, unfortunately). The small chocolate wafer balls on top felt unnecessary and didn't add much besides extra sweetness. The crunchy texture took away from the soft, layered consistency that makes tiramisu so enjoyable. More importantly, the espresso flavor was very subtle. The ladyfingers could have been soaked longer or in a stronger espresso. Since the espresso-mascarpone balance is the core of tiramisu, the lack of a pronounced coffee flavor made the dessert fall short for me. read more

I had to come on here and rave about Omar's service at North Italia! From the moment we sat down, his energy was amazing--so friendly, attentive, and genuinely made us feel welcomed. One thing I especially loved was that he spoke Spanish. It's always such a great feeling to connect with someone through the language--it made the experience feel even more personal and comfortable. North Italia is such a cute, fun restaurant in Kierland! They have a great interior as well as patio seating. We came in for lunch, and were impressed by their prefix lunch menu! I did not order off the prefix lunch menu, but my husband did. He started off with the soup of the day and then got the lasagna. I myself was really craving mussels. I've been to restaurants where they add chorizo to the mussels, but calabrese strips in this dish were great! The staff was very nice and we got seared quickly. Hmmm..... not a good experience. I've been to North many times over the years. It seems to go more downhill each visit. From the employees congregating at the end of the bar, using foul language openly and freely, engaging the bartender in conversation when she should be tending to customers at the bar, to the disappointing quality of appetizers, and the manager's oblivious attitude to what was happening. The drinks were good, probably would have had another if the circumstances were better, but not interested after 30-40 minutes. Too many other quality options in the area to settle for this. I'm done with North. Will go next door to The Greene House next time. read more

North Italia might be my new favorite restaurant. They have wonderful service and delicious food. They also have indoor and outdoor dining as well. We ordered bread with good olive oil, Margherita pizza & black Mediterranean mussels - this was insanely delicious if you love lemon you'll enjoy this. The spicy rigatoni vodka pasta had the perfect spicy kick and the squid ink pasta was delicious. My husband ordered the branzino along with an espresso martini and enjoyed both. This is the third time I have ordered food through DoorDash with this location, but there is significant enough of a issue with quality of food that I would never order again from this location... I'm not sure with the new takeout containers that management decided to dump the quality level as well for takeout orders, maybe to somehow discourage people from ordering but the quality was literally terrible. If that's your goal well you accomplished it... I ordered well over $100 worth of food. I'm sorry if you would not serve it in your restaurant you should probably not allow it to go out on takeout which by the way people have to pay a significant amount of money more for takeout through DoorDash then they do in your restaurant. You should take extra care and making sure that the presentation and the quality of food is something you could be proud of. I ordered lasagna and it look disgusting. I wouldn't package up my own leftovers from food that I made at my house and make it look this bad. Photo bellow. This is exactly what it looks like once I took off the lid of the takeout container. How disgusting that a person that works there would make your food look that bad and send it out. Also food portions were significantly down from anything that you would ever order at the actual restaurant. We have been a long time customer of North and have always loved the food, drinks and atmosphere. Today we went in for a drink and appetizer at 3:30. There were many empty tables and at least 5 servers. They all walked past our table at least once, some 3 or 4 times. We waited for anyone to come take our order. We debated cocktails and even had time to Google some of the ingredients in the cocktails. We eventually left. I cannot imagine what the service is like when they're busy if this is what it's like when it's slow. I wish all the fathers headed there tonight a Happy Father's Day. I was visiting Sedona and my cousins recommended this place. I had one of the salads but unfortunately didn't like it. It was drowned in dressing that I didn't particularly care for. The manager came and apologized and was very considerate and accommodating. I ordered a pizza but it was burnt I the middle recognized by the manager and not even myself lol. He told me another pizza would be coming out. I had so much to take home! The pizza was great. The waiter was very nice and friendly. Always attending to our needs! So we started with the truffle garlic bread. Let me tell you how rich and good the Oder was it was so good! Then I got the crush meatballs pasta and the other plate was the delicious. Again we had a great time but it was kinda unfair we were seated outside of the restaurant while your inside was empty at the time we can to your establishment. I would recommend this place but trying to not sit outside near as can smell the sewer. I gave a 3 star rating not for the food! Awesome service! Our waiter Damion was attentive and great! I came here with one of my girlfriends and there were some leftovers from their Valentine's Day menu so we ordered the Lobster and Crab bruschetta. It was delicious! I opted for the Strozzaprreti which had chicken, spinach, mushrooms, pine nuts and Parmesan cream. Not only was the dish full of flavor but it definitely was a generous portion size. My friend ordered the Squid Ink Tonnarelle which I dared to take a bite and it was amazing with just the right amount of spice! Lesson learned, call to reserve a table ahead of time for this place, because it was packed by 5:30pm on a Friday and I was shocked to hear that the wait was 2 hours! Thank goodness for barNorth next door that my friend and I could sit at the bar and have a quick bite. We weren't rushed, but I definitely felt the need to be decisive and order as quickly as possible. Also, Jump Start has become my favorite non-alcoholic drink for the year! There was the right amount of bitterness and sweetness in it and I was not on caffeine high after. We were only there for some light bites, so we split between a salad and some meatballs. This place was just outstanding, in all aspects. I was there right when it opened and we had a party of 8. The lady let me sit down when I was the only one there. None of this "I can't seat you until your whole party is here" nonsense. The waitress showed up right away and she was very attentive. The rest of our party came in within five minutes and we started to order. The food was superior, at least what i ordered. I got: * Tomato soup - creamy but not too rich. Very flavorful. Bowl. * Avocado toast with a side of egg. It has salmon, etc. I was confused why there was no hard boiled egg. Doesn't most avocado toast come wtih half a soft boiled egg on each side along with the red powder (of course I don't know what it is) sprinkled on top? They made it up by bringing a fried egg on the side. They had some kind of grey bread under the salmon and avocado which was super good too. Please see photos of the spread. I have taken out-of-towners here consistently for high quality vegetarian food. There is something for everyone and crowd favorites include the eggplant appetizer, polenta dish, arugula salad (trust) and the bomba style pizzas. We have seated at the bar, at the side dining room adjacent to the restaurant and the main dining. I actually think the lighting of the side room (next to frost- oddly a walk from the main bar) is really nice for a large party, the table size is accommodating. Service was 4/5 as the waitress kept telling us every moctail was out of stock. Individually she check 3 different items with the bar so I am not sure about their restocking process but we went on a weeknight. read more

We had a confirmed OpenTable reservation for standard indoor seating and arrived ten minutes early with two kids --so we expected things to run smoothly. Instead, we were told we'd be seated outside despite an open six-seater inside that was clearly more appropriate for our party. That table was apparently being "held" for a walk-in group of seven who weren't even ready to be seated for another 20 minutes - supposedly. And the "solutions" offered? 1. An outdoor table directly under a heater they couldn't adjust (way too hot for babies). 2. A high-top--for a party with toddlers. Truly baffling. We weren't asking for special treatment, just the table our confirmed reservation entitled us to. The lack of common sense and zero willingness to find a reasonable alternative made the whole experience unnecessarily frustrating. We dine out often and understand busy nights, but this felt careless and avoidable. Oh--and the kicker? At 8:20, that "party of 7" never showed. They ended up seating a party of 4 at the table they were holding. The food remains great, but service like this makes us seriously rethink returning to this location. read more

Yes, please. The mojito was minty, tart, and the perfect cool-down from that 110° Arizona heat. Shared the Margherita pizza and it was everything I hoped for ... crispy yet fluffy crust, oh those edges!, melty mozzarella, a red sauce with flavor, and lots of fresh basil (no stingy sprinkle here). We stopped in for a private lunch for an engagement party. Before we went to the event, we stopped by the bar, where we were quickly greeted by the bartender. We ordered an Italian Spritz and Grapefruit Gin and Tonic - both were flavorful and refreshing. We worked our way to the engagement party, where all of the appetizers and entrees were served family style. We especially liked the Zucca Chips and the Pesto Aioli took it to the next level! The Fox Restaurant Concepts has been popular in the Phoenix area over the years, especially being a company based out of the area. Now, you can find the restaurants across the country. North Italia can be found (or about to open) in 15 states and Washington DC though those in the Phoenix area are certainly the special locations. I went with family to celebrate my father's birthday this past weekend and had a good experience. We made a reservation about a week in advance on Open Table, and while the table was ready about 10 minutes early (on a Sunday evening), the notes I left about us celebrating my father's birthday were lost between the host podium and the server. We had an indoor table and good service, as our server checked on us regularly (though she disappeared for a little while but had someone else eventually cover for her until she got back). The food ordered for the entrees for my father and his significant other were supposedly sold out, though instead of delivering what they ordered instead, they delivered the original entrees ordered. After sitting down, we chose to order an appetizer (or small plate) to share with the table. We chose the White Truffle Garlic Bread, made with house made ricotta, mozzarella, grana padano, and herbs. It was delicious and a great balance of everything! We then ordered a Little Gem Caesar to share with grated grana padano, herb breadcrumb, and cracked pepper. For entrees, my wife ordered a Simple Salad with farm greens, heirloom cherry tomato, and gorgonzola vinaigrette (without the pine nuts). I ordered Bolognese, a house speciality, with traditional meat sauce, pappardelle, grana padano, wild oregano, and evoo. My father and his significant other ordered Lasagna Bianca al Forno with braised short rib, grana padano, provolone, mozzarella, and herb breadcrumbs. When we were under the impression they were out of lasagna, my father's significant other then ordered the Squid Ink Tonnarelli with tiger shrimp, calamari, wild fennel pollen, mint, and spicy tomato sauce while my father ordered the Roasted Salmon with caramelized romanesco, broccolini, fregola, basil pesto, lemon gremolata, and affinato. We then were provided a complimentary dessert to celebrate my father's birthday, which was a Dark Chocolate Budding with whipped crème fraiche, chocolate pearls, amarena cherries, and pine nut wedding cookie. All dishes were quite filling, easy to share with the group, and delicious!
