Food is no doubt churros. Although besides churros, they have ice cream, chocolate, sandwiches, coffees and other tiny bites. Service is plain and simple, order from the menu, get seated and pay. Then you get served the order. Or it can be ordered to go as well. The ambiance is a quaint place with Latin music playing and one tv monitor covering the sounds. It was good. Try at least. Not the cheapest churros, pero it's more a night out.

Very cute, unique hole-in-the-wall dessert spot! Great vibes for a late night hangout / sweet treat with friends. The inside of the shop is super cozy/vibey. There's also outdoor seating. Service was exceptional - the man running the shop is super sweet. Prices are a bit steep, considering the small portion sizes - we got the classic hot cocoa + churro sticks bundle, plus an extra hot cocoa. Everything was delicious and light (not overly heavy/oily). I'd be back to try more items on the menu!

We were in the area and was in search of a place for dessert after dinner. Found this in Yelp and gave it a go. Their churros was good! ... we choose strawberry and chocolate on the outside. I love the strawberry and I'm a chocolate lover but didn't enjoy the chocolate. For drinks we got the chamomile tea and cortado leche y leche which we really enjoyed! Ambiance is cozy. It's a small but nicely decorated place. Dark with small tea lights on the tables at night. Beautiful Latin music playing via the tv monitor. Service is quick. Once you sit down, they get your order and you pay right away. Nice little place to end the night.

Came at night and it was bustling. The biggest problem was service and taste. We sat down as we were told by one of the two men working this night. We waited and waited for about 15 minutes but the older man kept helping and taking orders from walk ins and those who sat on the bar area. We signaled and he seemed to acknowledge us but kept working and never came to take our order. Mind you this is a very small establishment and we sat inside the corner by the window. After we noticed he helped 3 - 4 parties and one take-out I walked over to place my order to the bar! The order is placed with the portable machine that also takes your payment. I tipped as well to later notice there really wasn't service provided. He never came to the table and never came to ask if we needed anything else after. The thick dipping and sipping chocolate was rather insipid. It was not rich in flavor, just plain thick. I'm sad to say I was very disappointed since I came in with high expectations. The churros were fairly plain too and nothing out of the ordinary. Dipping the churros in the chocolate made it even less tasty for some odd reason. It wasn't complimenting each other at all. Pricy for non-existing service and sipping chocolate without sufficient chocolate flavor.

Decided to get dessert here tonight after dinner and it was perfect. We ordered Tres Leches cake and churros as well as Tres Leches cappuccino to share and they were amazing. Coffee was delicious. Never had bad service here. The gentleman has always been friendly and polite. The place is small but charming. A great place for a date night. Love the music. We have been coming here for churros for years. Never disappoint.

This was truly such a random stop to get churros but they did not disappoint. I wouldn't go and say theyre the best churros in the world, because these one in Miami I had once take the cake for that title, but they were definitely great and hit the spot. the chocolate drizzle on top made it even better and we devoured this after a full meal.

Hands down, best hot chocolate and churros! The chocolate caliente was so thick and creamy, absolutely delicious! The churros were soft in the inside and crunchy on the outside, they also have different dips but my fave was the dulce de leche, yum! Still fantasizing about this, should've bought more for take home. Their filet mignon sandwich was also great, highly recommend Churros Calientes. Such a wonderful little gem in LA. Owners were also very friendly, love the ambiance! Will be back !

Churros Calientes, you were an integral part of my UCLA school experience. Thanks for being there for me with all the delicious cafe mochas, hot chocolates and especially the churros. The guava and dulce de leche toppings are great. But definitely get the classic Churros Con Chocolat. Haven't been back in years, but I think back on this place fondly a lot. I bet parking is still a pain too.

I am not sure if this is the same place but I remember going to a churro place on Pico?? We got the order of guava churros. The guava sauce was drizzled on top. I thought it would be in the middle/ inside the churro. Looks like they prefer cash payment but venmo is an option as well. No complaints. Churros were hot and fresh, tasty, good size and good toast / crunch level.

Super tasty! Everyone here is incredibly kind, and the whole experience is quick, simple, and delicious. Such an easy go-to spot when you want great food and great service. The space is on the smaller side but we got great seats.

I walked in and everyone was welcoming, they greeted me & took my order right away. However as the night went on, the service got bad since they were taking pictures for social media and instead of focusing on the customers they cared more about taking good pictures of their food for social media. I had to wait like 20 mins for someone to walk by so I could ask for the check & I believe the owner was also there, he seemed like a nice guy but instead of checking in on the customers he was just standing and staring. The ambiance was great ! They had a dj playing & great lighting, it looked nice. Lastly the churros were good, but I felt like they were overpriced & they charge mostly for their presention. The menu said large churros but they were 6 really thin and small churros, I was disappointed. Also the chocolate mousse was good but I believe they had just taken it out of the freezer because there was ice on it. I like to try new places and this was one of them, maybe I caught them on a bad night but would I go back? Probably not.

Stopped by this business to get the best churros in Santa Monica from what I've been hearing and wanted to try it out myself. Many items were on the menu from churros, coffee, sandwiches, salads and milkshakes. We ended up ordering Churros Con Chocolate and churros Dulce de Leches. By far it led up to the hype. Best churros I've had in a while. The staff were very attentive, quick and very friendly. Wait time was not long at all. Only street parking was available but it wasn't hard to find as we were able to park right in front of the restaurant. The restaurant itself is extremely cozy and inviting. There was a few tables and chairs outside to sit and of course inside has a bar top table to sit on. Would definitely recommend to others and visit again when I am back in SoCal. read more

Decided to stop at Churros Calientes for a late night dessert with a friend visiting town. Fresh, warm churros, Thrifty Ice Cream they try to pass off as "gelato", and very pleasant, not overbearing service makes this a great spot. They deliver on what they promise, and that's the bottom line. They have indoor and pet-friendly outdoor seating, which is nice to have that option. Parking can be tough but that's par for the course in the neighborhood. Restroom is next door in the movie theater. Prices a bit high but it's LA (what do you expect, right?). read more

Still the best. Stopped by for dinner after my night class. The cutest little store with a small internal and outdoor seating area. Street parking. Everything on the menu is delicious, especially the European hot chocolate. I get cravings for it. And the handsome owners are always so kind and welcoming. read more

A total gem that I'm sure many drive by and don't even notice. This small family establishment service up amazing drinks, desserts, and other dishes. The atmosphere is charming, relaxing, and simple. Everything we ordered was delicious. The service was excellent. I didn't catch her name, but she was charming and spoke very little English. I love this place! It truly stands out from the other dessert places around town. Also one of the few places in town where you can get a good cup of hot chocolate that's not watered down. The churros are delicious and love dipping sauces. It truly is authentic and delicious. The owner himself is there every night and him and the team are so kind too! read more

OMG, I LOVE this place! It is definitely my FAVORITE churro place. This is the churro spot I will go out of my way for because of how amazing and great it is. It is a small location and they only have outdoor seating. I really do not mind because even during winter they have heaters and since it is small, they keep you warm. The service is always great and if you ask for recommendations, they are more than happy to provide some and answer any questions. I always get the Churros Con Chocolate. It comes with six churros and a small cup of chocolate to dip them in. I cannot explain how amazing it is. You MUST try! My boyfriend likes the churros that come with Ice-Cream. I also get the Cortadito and the Cafe Cubano. Both are great. It does get busy, especially in the winter, but since it is something quick you will find a table. I have also noticed a lot of people order to go. Parking is a little tricky because it is street parking. There is usually plenty of parking at night. I am not sure how it is earlier in the day. I really like that they close pretty late compared to other churro places. :) They do not only have churros. They have food, fresh OJ, smoothies and plenty of other stuff to choose from. Such a great place to visit...has the coziness vibes, while enjoying delicious churros with all the trimmings, the hot chocolate has got to be one of the best I've tried, reminds you of the movie chocolate, it's thick, rich, bit of bittersweet, and simply decident!! Location: no indoor seating, only street parking. but they are open late with some tables outside with a couple of heaters. Order from table at front door. Food: Menu has extensive coffees, teas, and juices along with the churros. I really wanted to love the churros, but they are thin and crunchy. I love my churros crunchy on the outside but with a good amount of chewy inside. I wish this was thicker. I think I'm spoiled because of the great churros available by me in East LA. We ordered the regular churros with Dulce de Leche. My cafe cubano was excellent. read more

I can't believe this awesome Place has been here for over 14 years and I never knew of this restaurant , I guess you could call it a Hidden Gem . We tried the Chicken and Steak Sandwich it was amazingly Tasty with great quality . We also tried and Loved the Churros and the Hot Chocolate . Absolutely in love with this place!!!! A small cozy place with great seating and lights. We came around 11:00 and it was busy. We got the og churros with hot chocolate. Churros was crisp from outside and soft from inside and not so sweet. The hot chocolate was straight up chocolate and it was literally very hot so be careful while dipping or sipping on it. I ordered the NY strawberry cheesecake + churros combo. The cheesecake was excellent and the churros were excellent-er, definitely the highlight (as they should be). Service was fast and professional, and my food came extremely quickly. The establishment is fairly small and cozy with both indoor and outdoor seating. There's some nice Spanish-guitar-esque musical ambience that's at a low enough volume for conversation to continue. I'd highly recommend a visit. read more

Great local spot for after dinner dessert!! Fun vibe with music playing to transport you and get you in the mood for a tasty treat. Attentive and friendly staff. Churros are crunchy and not oily. I'm Sandro Finocchio owner of Churros Calientes. My parents emigrated from Italy to Venezuela in the 50's after the World War II. My father along opened an Italian Restaurant in 1957 in the city of Caracas, Venezuela. I was born and raised in Venezuela, and basically I grew up in the restaurant business. When I came to the USA in the early 2000's I always had the idea of opening my own restaurant with a concept of the European Cafe Bistro and Spanish Churreria. The combination of gourmet European sandwiches and Spanish Churros it's a magic blend. It's exciting to see how people from so many different cultures, countries, religions, believes, genders, races, they all like to come to Churros Calientes and experience our delicious Churros and homemade cuisine of gourmet European sandwiches.

There was no customization with the selections and there was no one to ask. For instance the mango shaved snow came with the melon. I wanted the strawberry shaved snow with the melon balls but they didn't have that option. When you order additional toppings, they leave it on the side. Not visually appealing at all. My niece and I shared the Strawberry Shaved Ice ($18.99) and added Mochi ($2.50) and Melon Balls ($4.25). After you order from the kiosk, you seat yourself and they'll call your number when your order ready. I really like their shaved ice here because the ice is creamy and flavored before they shave it so it's extra flavorful and creamy. It's just really expensive for what it is and especially pricey when you want additional ingredients. Most other shaved ice businesses will allow multiple ingredients for a portion of the cost. One thing that was weird is how it came in a plate instead of a bowl shaped container. Eat quick and make sure it doesn't tip over. I'm so torn because I like the product after the addition of more toppings, but I'm not sure it's worth the price. Also no staff interaction and lacking customization makes my experience as a customer frustrating and limited. Not sure if I would come back.

The freshest and best Churros in town. The churro recipe took me months to get to the final formula! ha ha do you know how much flour and dough I had to trow away in order to find the final formula? ha ha!! Our Spanish and Italian cuisine are old fashion home made style. Chicken Parmigiana (Suprema di pollo), Fillet Mignon, Salmon, Atun Escabeche (tuna), Tortilla Espanola (Spanish omelet). Zuppa di pollo (chicken soup), Vegetable soup, Caesar Salad and Sherry Salad. You also have to try our coffees. We use organic coffee from Colombia and Costa Rica. Our espresso machine and grinders are calibrated the Italian way to make sure you'll get the best espressos and lattes, cappuccinos. We have Latin American brews such as Cafe Cubano, Marroncito (from Venezuela), Cortado Leche y Leche. Our teas are also organic. You should try Cedron Tea from Bolivia and Anis Tea. My review is solely on the service experience rather than on the food. The churros are great, very flavorful and delicious, however the service we experience ruined that for us. It was slow, food was taking a while to come out and you could see that some of the servers where a bit overwhelmed. However, there was a guy who said he was the owner (highly doubt he actually is) who would not stop flirting with customers. He made comments to me and my friends that were really uncomfortable and made us not want to visit again. We tried to brush it off but it was continuous and apparently this is a behavior in which he engages often. I asked to use the bathroom and was told to wait behind the kitchen doors since you have to go through the kitchen to use it because another girl was already in there. When I looked into the kitchen there was the "owner"/employee taking pictures with a customer. He had a kitchen employee taking the pictures while services was running. No wonder the food was taking forever to come out. This shows an incredible lack of professionalism and just tells you how much he likes to flirt with customers. Not coming back here, at least not until he's let go or something. He ruins it for us girls that want to share a dessert on a ladies' outing. read more

The place is very small on the inside so I expected decent service. To be fair they were constantly churning customers and by the time I finished they were packed inside and out with a decent wait. The service was mediocre at best. To get my water refilled I had to flag down someone. For food I got the chicken panini. It was bad but also was not that great either. It is definitely not something I would come back for. After that I decided to try the churros since they have to be amazing. I was definitely wrong. I got the recommended combination. The churros Lagos with guava and dulce de leche. It was very average again. Given the love on Yelp and the crowd that was constantly flowing through, I expected some of the best churros ever and I was extremely disappointed. I think I was one of the few as several people were definitely raving the churros. All in all, I think it's a must try for the churros. If they are your style then great. If not then move on. The price for the churros alone isn't too bad and my entire meal was under $25 including tip which isn't horrible for a quick decent dinner. read more

I had such a great experience at Churros Calientes! Everything was honestly so good from the churros to the overall vibe of the place. The churros were fresh and warm. The place itself is really cute and cozy, a nice spot to sit down and enjoy dessert without feeling rushed. It just has a good, welcoming atmosphere. Okay, real moment though I ordered 3 hot chocolates thinking it was the regular kind you drink, but it's actually a thicker chocolate meant for dipping the churros. Totally my mistake lol. But honestly, it still worked out because it tasted really good with the churros just not what I expected at first. Lesson learned! What really made our visit memorable was the service. Angel was AMAZING. Super friendly, attentive, and just had great energy. He really made the whole experience better. Overall, I would definitely come back and recommend this spot. The Churrros were really good. Made fresh and the guava and cream cheese edition was delicious. My BFF got the churros and hot chocolate combo and the hot chocolate was excellent. I'm not even a big fan of chocolate and I thought it was a mini cup of heaven. While the churros were really good... their vegetable soup made with veggie broth is what I'd drive back for. Being a vegetarian, I appreciate a good vegetable soup. The broth of their veggie soup was so good and the veggies were cooked to perfection. I felt like they melted in my mouth. I can drink a whole pot of that stuff. Too bad it was too pricey at $8 a bowl. At least the taste led me to forget about the price. They have sandwiches, salad and 2 kinds of soups. When I visited Los Angeles for the first time, I really wasn't that familiar with Mexican food, especially churros. I really had no idea what to expect when I bit into my first one from Churros Calientes. Needless to say, I was blown away. Now, back home on the East Coast, I can't find one nearly as good. Most of the reviews on here seem to mention the hot chocolate that you can order with your churro. This is a great addition to the dessert, itself, but the churro alone is amazing. It is crispy enough on the outside, and warm and soft enough on the inside to make any supermodel stray from her diet. I really did enjoy my time in the city, and the food was a big part of that. I think the churros are kind of pricey, so -1 star for that. All or at least most of the stuff here is Organic. The churros are delicious. Get the ones filled with cheese and guava sauce on top. These churros are thinner than the ones I'm used to eating; they're crispy but they lack that fluffiness/chewy factor in my opinion. For the west side, they're pretty darn good. Their hot chocolate, if you get it to go is served in a very small cup with an air-tight lid - don't expect a normal sized cup. The chocolate itself is high quality, and delicious, but not authentic mexican chocolate. I would still come here on a regular, I don't because I would get fatter. read more

This is a local gem that always hits the spot! I always come here for their churros con chocolate. They give you 5 pieces of freshly made churro sticks and an espresso sized cup of rich chocolate sauce. The size looks small, but plenty to go around. I also like to get churros with other sauces. The guava sauce is my favorite because it is not my normal sauce I use on food. The staff are very friendly and helpful. There is indoor and outdoor seating that has a very cozy vibe. Went in for their famous churros but was pretty disappointed. Me and my boyfriend got some to go and they took about 20 minutes to get us one bag of churros, and right before we took off, he noticed they put one less churro in the bag. We went back for the missing churro but it would not have been missed. We took a bite and the churros were super stale. It took them all that time just to give us an old bag of churros. The dips were good but we didn't get what we came for. I've seen better churros for half the price, not worth the wait. read more

There needs to be more places like this!! I have an insane sweet two and my two favorite things in this world are cinnabons and churros! The churros at Disneyland and Universal are my favorite (haha and theyre always expensive!) I couldn't believe this place existed until I actually ate here- a restaurant you can go to just to enjoy churros and other sweets! It doesn't get better than this in my opinion. This is the OG churros place to be. They have a cute seating area outside and it's a bit crowded but still a good spot to have a cup of coffee. I only had churros here and they were delish. I mean..it cannot be not good. The hot chocolate was literally chocolate melted in a cup and it was super sweet and bitter. I didn't really enjoy that one but I enjoyed their latte. Pretty good and decent was the churros, the sauce being equally tasty. Their hot chocolate was also decent and much better flavor than found in some other places. Best churros ever!!! I've been here many times and their churros never disappoint. My favorite is the churro grande dulce de leche and guava. Other good topping combinations: -guava and cream cheese -sweet condensed milk and strawberry parkings a bitch, and I'm sure on the weekend it'd be really crowded and cramped. I love churros. Love them. What's not to like? They're donuts, with powdered sugar all over them. But they're star shaped to increase surface area and thus, increase sugar load. PERFECT.
