We randomly stopped by Churros Calientes on a Sunday night of a long weekend after dinner. We honestly hadn't heard much about this place and just happened to find it on our route home, but we're so glad we did because it was SO good. It's a really small spot with only a handful of tables and definitely has that cute mom and pop feel. Even though it was pretty late, the place was still vibing and it seemed like they had a good amount of regulars coming in. Everyone working there was also super super nice and welcoming. We got the Original Basket with a side of Nutella and loved it. The churros came out fresh and hot and the Nutella on the side was amazing. We're big chocolate people so obviously we loved that combo. We ate them so fast I didn't get a picture of them! We also heard their Italian coffees are really good and not overly sweet or milky, which sounds exactly like something we would like. If it wasn't so late we definitely would have ordered one, but it was a little too late for caffeine at that point. Overall such a good random find and we loved the whole vibe of this place. The churros were amazing, everyone was so nice and it just felt like a great little neighborhood spot. We'll definitely be back and next time we're trying the coffee too! read more

Stopped by this business to get the best churros in Santa Monica from what I've been hearing and wanted to try it out myself. Many items were on the menu from churros, coffee, sandwiches, salads and milkshakes. We ended up ordering Churros Con Chocolate and churros Dulce de Leches. By far it led up to the hype. Best churros I've had in a while. The staff were very attentive, quick and very friendly. Wait time was not long at all. Only street parking was available but it wasn't hard to find as we were able to park right in front of the restaurant. The restaurant itself is extremely cozy and inviting. There was a few tables and chairs outside to sit and of course inside has a bar top table to sit on. Would definitely recommend to others and visit again when I am back in SoCal. read more

Fresh, warm churros, Thrifty Ice Cream they try to pass off as "gelato", and very pleasant, not overbearing service makes this a great spot. They deliver on what they promise, and that's the bottom line. They have indoor and pet-friendly outdoor seating, which is nice to have that option. Parking can be tough but that's par for the course in the neighborhood. Restroom is next door in the movie theater. Prices a bit high but it's LA (what do you expect, right?). read more

Very cute, unique hole-in-the-wall dessert spot! Great vibes for a late night hangout / sweet treat with friends. The inside of the shop is super cozy/vibey. There's also outdoor seating. Service was exceptional - the man running the shop is super sweet. Came at night and it was bustling. The biggest problem was service and taste. We sat down as we were told by one of the two men working this night. We waited and waited for about 15 minutes but the older man kept helping and taking orders from walk ins and those who sat on the bar area. We signaled and he seemed to acknowledge us but kept working and never came to take our order. Mind you this is a very small establishment and we sat inside the corner by the window. After we noticed he helped 3 - 4 parties and one take-out I walked over to place my order to the bar! The order is placed with the portable machine that also takes your payment. I tipped as well to later notice there really wasn't service provided. He never came to the table and never came to ask if we needed anything else after. The thick dipping and sipping chocolate was rather insipid. It was not rich in flavor, just plain thick. I'm sad to say I was very disappointed since I came in with high expectations. The churros were fairly plain too and nothing out of the ordinary. Dipping the churros in the chocolate made it even less tasty for some odd reason. It wasn't complimenting each other at all. Pricy for non-existing service and sipping chocolate without sufficient chocolate flavor. read more

I walked in and everyone was welcoming, they greeted me & took my order right away. However as the night went on, the service got bad since they were taking pictures for social media and instead of focusing on the customers they cared more about taking good pictures of their food for social media. I had to wait like 20 mins for someone to walk by so I could ask for the check & I believe the owner was also there, he seemed like a nice guy but instead of checking in on the customers he was just standing and staring. The ambiance was great ! They had a dj playing & great lighting, it looked nice. Lastly the churros were good, but I felt like they were overpriced & they charge mostly for their presention. The menu said large churros but they were 6 really thin and small churros, I was disappointed. Also the chocolate mousse was good but I believe they had just taken it out of the freezer because there was ice on it. OMG, I LOVE this place! It is definitely my FAVORITE churro place. This is the churro spot I will go out of my way for because of how amazing and great it is. It is a small location and they only have outdoor seating. I really do not mind because even during winter they have heaters and since it is small, they keep you warm. The service is always great and if you ask for recommendations, they are more than happy to provide some and answer any questions. I always get the Churros Con Chocolate. It comes with six churros and a small cup of chocolate to dip them in. I cannot explain how amazing it is. You MUST try! My boyfriend likes the churros that come with Ice-Cream. I also get the Cortadito and the Cafe Cubano. Both are great. It does get busy, especially in the winter, but since it is something quick you will find a table. I have also noticed a lot of people order to go. Parking is a little tricky because it is street parking. There is usually plenty of parking at night. I am not sure how it is earlier in the day. I really like that they close pretty late compared to other churro places. :) They do not only have churros. They have food, fresh OJ, smoothies and plenty of other stuff to choose from.
