This is a wonderful place close to the Hilton San Francisco Union Square Hotel. We ordered the tandoori chicken, lamb wrap, chicken kebab wrap, and chicken wrap. We had to wait like 10 minutes, but all food is made fresh to order. Delicious and tons of flavor. Also, owner told us that masala chai free for laying customers. Great for a quick lunch or dinner.

When I want to treat myself to a inexpensive and delicious meal I go to Chutney. I love ordering ahead and having it at home, eating it in the restaurant. I have always enjoyed the service. They are always courteous and friendly. The restaurant offers free tea with the meal at I never have had a problem finding an open table.

Me and my brother came here for the first time after we heard good reviews (from Khabib). We ordered the chicken tikka masala and lamb vindaloo curry which we loved. The mint chutney was really good too.

You cannot argue with the taste and utter magic that is of Chutney's Tikka Masala! The ambiance is basic, the service is hardly there. You risk your life navigating the TL if you dine in. And if you do dine in, you pay after you eat. I have been coming here & ordering takeout for well over a decade and continue to come back like it's a spiritual pilgrimage. Some things are worth all the compromises they can present. I love this place.

You might not be impressed by the restaurant's presentation and decor, but the food here is really good. When I came here and saw no one was inside. I had a second thought whether we should try somewhere else. But, my friend insisted. We ordered two curries (one lamb and one chicken) and a chicken wrap. We loved all of them. They were all so tasty and creamy. I ate some fast, and that is how good that is. They also give out free chia milk tea. It was pretty good too. The people here are very nice. They spent time talking about their specials. I will come back or order take out next time.

Hot take, but the tenderloin is home to some of the best food in San Fransisco. I said what I said. Chutney is a halal Pakistani/ Indian restaurant that delivers. Making food for the heart and serving customers at break neck speeds, this restaurant is an essential for San Fransisco Muslims and anyone who enjoys this type of cuisine. Ordering delivery or coming in during Ramadan nights, chutney is the best in its class. The chicken is flavorful, the naan is fluffy, and the curries are to die for! The restaurant itself is a delight, and is so inviting for families and friends

Food was so good! Portions aren't big but it's generous for the price you pay. Between my husband and I, we ordered chicken tikka masala, ground chicken and beef seikh, rice, and garlic naan. It all came to roughly $30 and it was plenty of food for us. The service was okay and the ambiance is very basic. It definitely gives off a false vibe. You walk in and order your food, sit down and eat, then go up to pay. The place is very chill. Everything tasted fresh and delicious. Will be back.

There was a bottle of water on each table. The food came out in three pretty silver bowls. The nice metal bowls added to the experience. The chicken tikka masala was the exact right amount of spice. Not too hot, not too mild. I could taste the butter and the chicken was perfectly cooked and moist. The rice was rice. It was exactly what I expected and cooked fine. The cheese garlic naan tho... good lord I could eat 100 orders of it. Insanely good. So much butter, cheese, garlic, and hot out of the oven (or wherever). I would absolutely order it again. I spent about $30 on everything (16 for entree, 3 for rice, like 5 for naan, then tip). For $30, I was stuffed and it felt like a great value. Ambiance was nice. I already mentioned the bowls, but the music was just Indian bangers. I didn't know any of the songs, but two of them in particular were so good that I wish I had asked what they were. Like electronic Indian party music. So good. Will definitely go again when I have time to kill in the area again.

As a neighborhood resident who was genuinely hoping to have a reliable, go-to Indian spot nearby, I…read moream writing this review in the hope that management takes this feedback seriously. I've visited Diwali Indian Cuisine a few times since opening--initial visits were acceptable, but my experience last Friday was deeply disappointing due to clear corner-cutting in the kitchen. As an Indian customer, I know what well-prepared, authentic dishes should taste like, and what was served fell far short of basic standards. To be fair, the core items--the tandoori chicken and the dosa itself--were well-cooked. However, the accompanying elements, which are vital to these dishes, were unacceptable: * The Cilantro Chutney: The green chutney had clearly turned and begun to ferment; it had a distinct carbonated fizz on the tongue and an off flavor. Serving spoiled chutney is a major quality control issue. * The Sambar: Exceptionally watered-down and lacking depth or flavor. Stirring it made no difference--it tasted as though unboiled tap water had simply been added at the end rather than integrated and simmered into the dish during cooking. * The Coconut & Tomato Chutneys: Both were bland, diluted, and lacked the fresh, balanced tempering expected of traditional chutneys. There is no excuse for serving spoiled or watered-down condiments, especially on a Friday going into peak service. When a kitchen starts cutting corners on the fundamentals, customers notice. While the convenience of having Diwali right in the neighborhood is a huge plus, the current lack of quality control makes it hard to justify coming back--especially with so many exceptional options nearby in the Mission that do not compromise on freshness. I want to support a local business, but quality needs to be restored. I hope management uses this feedback to tighten kitchen standards and rebuild the quality control that neighborhood regulars expect.

Before our visit, I emailed the restaurant to make a reservation and asked what would be served. The restaurant replied that the buffet would include Tandoori Chicken, Butter Chicken, Goat Curry, and Fish Pakora, while the vegetarian options rotate daily. They also mentioned that almost all the food is prepared mild. It was our usual get-together, and it was the first time for all of my friends to try the lunch buffet at this restaurant. Lunch buffet items included: * Paneer Makhani * Fish * Goat Curry * Butter Chicken * Tandoori Chicken * Aloo Gobi * Egg Roll * Rice * Naan * French Fries * And several other dishes Some of the buffet items didn't have name signs, so I wasn't always sure what I was eating. There were also a few items that weren't available when we first arrived, so we had to wait for them to be replenished. I liked the Tandoori Chicken and Butter Chicken. The Paneer Makhani was just okay. The vegetables were also just okay, and because there weren't any signs, I wasn't sure what some of the vegetable dishes were. The two desserts were a little too sweet for me. Although the restaurant mentioned that almost all the food was prepared mild, some of the dishes were actually spicy and not mild. Our group had mixed opinions about the buffet. A few of us, including myself, don't eat spicy food, so the difference in spice levels was noticeable. The restaurant also offered us free chai tea, which was a nice gesture. Overall, I would say the owner was trying his very best. He was the only person working in the restaurant during our visit. He was making the Tandoori Chicken, preparing and serving food behind the counter, bringing water and drinks, and bringing extra plates for the buffet. With one person handling so many things, it was understandable that some food needed time to be replenished. For $20, the all-you-can-eat buffet is a reasonable option, especially if you want to try several different Indian dishes. I hope they can add clear labels for the buffet items, indicate which dishes are spicy, and keep the food replenished more consistently as the restaurant gets busier. Lastly, I'll come back and give the lunch buffet another try.
