Visited this Chuys on a Friday evening hankering some Tex-Mex cuisine. We arrived and were told it would be a 40 min wait come to figure out that the wait was actually 15 minutes which was a plus. We were quickly seated and our server attended us promptly. We ordered the chile con Queso as an appetizer which was an excellent choice rich and spicy Queso was worth it. We then ordered the our entrees, I ordered the "Tacos al Carbon" which was rather chewy and dry fajita meat, rice was dry and beans were excellent and as for Wild Burrito was rich and flavorful. Overall exceptional service, good food if your not getting the fajitas and great atmosphere, will return again to order something other than fajitas. read more

The food was hot and delicious! I enjoyed how the tomatoes were separated from the tacos and also the cheese and lettuce. The cheese was not melted until I placed it on my food directly. The enchiladas were a bit too spicy for me but my son loved them...lol. And the beans and rice were on point! I could have eaten them as a meal alone...lol! Honestly this place is not what it used to be I've been coming here for a while and the only thing good about this place is the drinks. service is AWFUL, it like everyone there hates their job. From the greeter, to the serves and even the togo waitresses. very rude and no customer service at all. for first bad experience was when I ordered via door dash because I was pregnant and didn't feel like going over to pick up my order. at first I thought it was a door dash error but quickly found out it was not. My food was cold, order was wrong & when I called to get it corrected was told there was nothing they could do. fast forward to present day, I ordered to go and seemingly nothing has changed. upon walking into the establishment with my now 2 year old child, I was not greeted by the old lady working the door. when I told her I was there for a togo order she says "yeah over there" and cuts her eyes to the left. Worst experience we've ever had at Chuy's - won't be back again for a while and never again to this location. Here's the 12 step program followed to ruin our night: One - My wife gets off her last of six 12 hour shifts in one week as a continuous care nurse. I decide to take her to Chuy's for relaxing drinks and dinner - she needs it and she's still in her scrubs, so casual dining with frozen ritas here we come! Two - We show up at 8:30 and there's a wait - totally expected. We ask if we can order a couple of margaritas while we wait. They oblige...a girl takes our order of 2 frozen margaritas. Three - The girl brings our credit card back - no drinks yet; we go to sign the receipt, but notice we've been charged 42 dollars! We protest - she's confused and asks us what our order is again. We give it to her again. Four - It's been 25 minutes at this point - no drinks and we're still waiting for the voided 42 dollar charge receipt. Five - We get sat - still no drinks. We cancel our drinks with the frustrating girl. Six - Our waitress - Boomer - is great! She gets us drinks and food fast. We're thinking the night has turned around...oh but we're only halfway through! Seven - We cash out. My wife wants to surprise me this time with margaritas to go - why not?! It's her first day off in a while...but she makes the mistake of ordering from the same girl. Eight - We wait for ~15 minutes for our to go drinks and get the receipt first again. This time it's for 14 dollars - not enough for our 2 drinks, so we ask why so little? The girl - very flustered - flounders and asks for our simple order of 2 frozen ritas again. It's about 9:50 now. Nine - Finally the drinks come out and the check is right. BUT, the drinks feel like they're on the rocks...we ordered frozen. We ask the girl who insists they're frozen, but says she'll check. Ten - She comes back to confirm they're on the rocks, but says she can't get us frozen because now it's 10:03 and the bar has closed and emptied the frozen rita machines. We ask for a manager. Eleven - The worst manager I've ever had the misfortune of dealing with at Chuy's, Shannon Itoka, comes to the "rescue". She does nothing except promise to void our drinks. She doesn't offer to throw them in a blender to make them frozen...give us free drinks or a free appetizer for our trouble...apologize for the absolute train wreck...offer a receipt to confirm the erroneous charges will be voided...nada. Twelve - We leave with no to go drinks, my wife is more stressed out than she was before we went and we have pending charges of more than 85 dollars that we hope - despite the epic incompetence they've exhibited - they will manage to competently remove maybe by Monday. Seriously, my wife deserved better - thanks Chuy's for failing so miserably on the first night she's been out in months. I waited tables and bartended for 5 years back in the day, so I'm patient and tolerant when it comes to this stuff most of the time, but I can't believe how this situation was handled. The salsa tastes like weak ketchup...no spice at all. It's where you take little kids to eat before their taste buds develop. There are much better choices for real Tex-Mex in Fort Worth: try Los Vasqueros on N. Main. Or, if you're looking for a chain that can replicate decent Tex-Mex, try Uncle Julios, Mi Cocina or Pappasito's In Dallas, try Herrera's on Sylvan (or Denton Dr.) or Matt's Rancho Martinez. This was are go to mexican restaurant for years. We love it when we get Jaqueline as our waitress. She knows how to treat her guest right. Chuy's needs to hire more people like her as we have had a few people who were more concerned with getting large tips and not giving couples the same service as large parties. The food is good for the most part, love the chips and salsa and the deluxe enchiladas. Cleanliness is suspect at times as the last time we went they sat us at a dirty table. When I asked to be seated at a clean table the hostess looked at me like I was speaking a foreign language. Needles to say we had to wipe down the table ourselves. Normally I don't do negative comment or reviews to a restaurant but i have the need to. Yesterday my girlfriend took me here as my first experience but obviously not hers. We asked for a table but the place was pretty much full so we decide to wait outside. One of the employees told us we had to wait approximately 20 minutes and we wait. After 20 minutes pass we went inside to ask for our table but a accordingly to the host we were sitting already. So she put us back on the end of the list. After three more minutes they give us a table which was not that one that we request either. Service what's at least a decent one. The server was really good, very attended. I went to Chuy's solely for the happy hour deal of free nachos with the purchase of an alcoholic beverage. You can't beat that deal! I ordered a frozen house margarita for $4.50 and loaded my nachos with beef, queso, and some refried beans. The beef was flavorful and juicy, and the queso had a nice kick to it, but not too much. I didn't like the taste of the refried beans though. I can't describe it, but it didn't taste like most refried beans that I've had. The nacho bar itself is a little hard to find. It's in a corner of the restaurant inside of a purple car trunk. Overall, you can't be the happy hour deal- food and a drink for $4.87 (Don't forget to tip). Chuy's has a relaxed, fun atmosphere with lots of artwork to keep you entertained. I'll return to Chuy's when I'm craving nachos again, and next time I'll try the house margarita on the rocks. This is one of the more consistently good Tex-Mex chain restaurants. Usually there is a wait esp during rush hours but you can easily get a seat at the bar and eat there. I came here for lunch and really enjoyed it. The atmosphere was very lively, and made for a great afternoon meal. Service was good, the waiter checked on us a couple times to make sure everything was okay. There was complimentary chips and a pico-like salsa, which wasn't anything great, but was nice to have something to snack on before getting our meal. For the entree I ordered the Chicka Chicka Boom Boom, and it was pretty good. The sauce on top was creamy and spicy, while complimenting the meal quite well. Stopped in here to give them a try vs some of our usual haunts. We got seated upstairs and that should have been a red flag, but we figured what the heck. The server was great, very friendly and attentive and the bright spot of the evening. The food was ok, nothing special and a little bit different from the normal Tex-Mex. That's doesn't mean anything bad, it was just a bit different and didn't really hit the spot for us. Parking was a little bit of a hassle. There is limited street parking and the garage behind the restaurant was pretty crowded. It's just not as easy as places that have a dedicated lot. I guess I would say that it's just of little things that, when added together, kind of lower their score for me. That being said... One word..Outstanding! We went to Chuys for dinner tonight..everything was fabulous..tasted delicious..the drinks were awesome. The kids enjoyed the kids meals too. We had chicken fajitas..beef soft tacos..nachos loaded..the chips were tasty and flaky..along with cold yummy sauce for dipping..we also had guacamole which was light and cold for our warm chips..the tea was freshly brewed also. This is my favorite happy hour and favorite queso of all time...free Chuys queso during happy hour is probably the greatest thing I've ever discovered. I've been satisfied with many of their dishes, but the Chuychanga is my favorite (top it with queso - it's worth the extra dollar). Oh and don't forget to ask for the jalapeño dip for your chips! I became a fan of Chuy's when I lived in Austin, where they originated. I ate at the original Chuy's on Barton Springs Road. I am stunned that anyone would call this food "average." I have never had an average meal there. I am an avid TexMex eater and this is some of the best. You do need to be a fan of hatch green chile to really appreciate what makes Chuy's unique. I lived in Albuquerque for two years and complained my first year there that all the Mexican food there was served with hatch chile (green or red). I wanted plain old fashioned TexMex. During my second year there, I became a chile addict. I finally understood what the big deal was. Chuy's is one of the few places in Texas where you can get hatch green chile. Try the Elvis Fried Chicken. That is the best! By the way, today is Elvis' birthday. As for the service this is where they lack greatly, if it weren't for the service I would have given them 4 stars. It's very clear the the kitchen and waiters do not communicate. I was brought the wrong dish originally, the young lady who brought food to our table asked who had the taco plate. My husband said he did, she sat the taco plate down and proceed to put the other plate in front of me and walk away without saying a word. What she sat in front of me, was not what I ordered - after a while we were able to track down our waitress to explain the situation. About 10 minutes later, she comes back with what I ordered however the simple request of double rice was missed. Oh and the plate the gal originally brought to me, she proceeded to talk to the other waitress to figure out where it went and took it over to another table. The drinks here are very good. The enchiladas and tres leches dessert is right up there with the drinks too! The bar is stocked very well and the bartenders actually know what they're doing! The frozen margaritas are good and they change the types occasionally. If you like your margaritas with a fruit flavor you will be very happy here. I've had the strawberry margarita and the peach margarita here but the traditional margarita is a good way to go too! The enchiladas are good but I haven't had any other entrees. I mostly come for the drinks haha. The happy hour here is very good. The tres leches is the only dessert I've had here but it's delicious and you get a hearty piece.
