    A terrible margarita
    Steve D.

really don't get the hype. Honestly, this place was worse than Chili's, and with spots like Tres Amigos offering better food, drinks, and service at similar prices, I can confidently say I won't be back. The experience started off on the wrong foot. I was seated in a booth like I requested, but immediately noticed a strong chemical odor, like someone had just cleaned the table with a heavy dose of cleaner. It lingered throughout the meal until the food finally arrived and helped mask it. At one point, a kid nearby spilled something, and instead of using a mop, an employee wiped it up with a hand towel. That honestly made me wonder if that's what they had used on my booth too. Service didn't help things. My waitress was sweet but slow and forgetful. I asked for water with lemon and got plain water that tasted like tap. When my fajitas arrived, I had no plate and had to wait around five minutes to ask again. I also really dislike when my credit card goes on a journey around the restaurant instead of straight to the register and back. There was also a moment that felt unnecessarily rude. I asked if the "beef" fajitas were steak or ground beef, since most menus just say steak if that's what they mean. She replied, "I don't know why so many people have a hard time understanding that." Maybe because the rest of the menu actually says steak in other places like the burrito section. The chips and salsa at the beginning were great. The salsa had a little kick and a lot of flavor. The proteins and condiments on my steak, chicken, and shrimp fajitas were solid, but the tortillas were way too thick and had an odd floury taste. As for the drinks, they were awful. I tried one of their signature margaritas and couldn't even tell if there was tequila in it. I upgraded to one with Don Julio and it was still incredibly weak. At $14 to $16 each, that's inexcusable, especially at a Tex-Mex spot where the margaritas should be a highlight. I already said it, but I'll say it again. I won't be back. I don't care how cute the decorations or patio are if the food, drinks, and service are all mediocre.

    Chicken fajitas for 2

Love visiting Chuy's when I'm in the area. Service and food is always quick and tasty! Ordered the fajitas which are always great. This was the chicken fajitas for two and the portion is huge. This was enough to feed family of 4! I definitely recommend the Queso Compuesto which comes with guac - pico and ground beef all as toppings for the queso. The restaurant is always lively and pretty packed. We will definitely be back to Chuy's again!

Absolutely loved everything about our visit! We were greeted and seated quickly and had a wonderful server who was friendly and polite and attentive our entire lunch. We enjoyed the queso and salsa and chips for an app and then proceeded to try each other's mains; the chuychanga and chicken chili relleno were the stars but everything was delicious--the green chili sauce and boom boom sauce were favorites. I wish there were more Chuy's! Loved our lunch!

I love some great tex mex food and this was actually shockingly delicious. Great decor inside too, very 1950s meets Texas kitsch. Salsas were fresh and flavorful and chips were light and not greasy. Great drinks and super affordable, nothing on the menu, even drinks, was over $20.

Chuys always has great food and a fun atmosphere. This time, the wait was pretty long to get our food, but it wasn't too much of a problem as it allowed us time to enjoy the chips & dips. We ordered queso, which is absolutely delicious here, and you have to get the creamy jalapeño sauce as well! The enchiladas are good and with the build your own you can choose two different fillings and two different sauces, which is great if you can't decide.

Chuy's Tex Mex Restaurant is located in Land O Lakes and i75 across from the Premium Outlet Mall next to Bahama Breeze, Mochinut, Chicken Guy, Mellow Mushroom, Shake Shack, Pollo Tropical, and Fords Garage. Chuy's has an eclectic nostalgic atmosphere with 3 different rooms with 3 different vibes including an Elvis shrine, vintage diner style seating, a vintage diner room, a palm tree room, and a dog bar room where patrons can bring in photos of their dogs and the walls are lined with dog photos. Chuy's gives great complimentary chips and salsa with sauce samplers! I really like the thin crispy chips and the salsa has a great flavor! 9/10 Chuy's has a ton of different sauces so it's best to try a couple before committing to have that sauce with your meal! My favorite Chuy's sauces are Ranchero, Deluxe Tomatillo, & Boom Boom Sauce. Ranchero is made with fire-roasted tomatoes, caramelized onions, bell peppers, cilantro & spices. Deluxe Tomatillo is made with fresh green tomatillos, blended with green onions, cilantro, garlic, blended with sour cream, fresh herbs, cilantro & spices. The Boom Boom sauce is made with roasted New Mexican green chiles, tomatillos, green onions, & cilantro, blended with cheese. The Elvis Presley Combo comes with a seasoned ground beef enchilada with Tex-Mex Sauce, chicken enchilada with Tomatillo Sauce, cheese enchilada with Ranchero Sauce, crispy taco & homemade tostada chips dipped in queso. This meal is on the heavy side and I could only finish half of it. 8/10 Deluxe chicken enchiladas come with Roasted chicken & cheese homemade corn tortillas with Deluxe Tomatillo Sauce, served with Mexican rice & refried beans. 9/10 The Appetizer Plate is a sampler platter that comes with Queso, bean & cheese panchos, fajita chicken quesadillas & chicken flautas with guacamole & sour cream. 9/10 My new favorite is the Fajita Tacos that come marinated in Chuy's signature blend of Shiner Bock beer, serrano peppers, lime juice & secret spices. Grilled with onions & peppers. Served with lettuce, guacamole, sour cream, cheese, pico de gallo, flour tortillas, Mexican rice & refried beans. 10/10 The Kids Crispy Beef & Cheese Tacos comes with rice and beans or Mac and cheese, a drink, and a dessert. We ended up getting the Mac and cheese instead of the typical rice and beans! 9/10 The Tres Leches dessert came with a generous slice of Chuy's signature cake made with three milks, served with house-made créme fraiche, caramel and strawberries. 9/10 Strawberry swirl margarita 10/10 Our server was friendly and quick to bring us more chips and salsa Chuy's is one of my favorite Mexican restaurants in the Land O Lakes Lutz area! If you're in the Lutz Land O Lakes area and craving Mexican food, I highly recommend checking out Chuy's!

Quick seating. Our server was quick to our table. Chips and salsa are sooo good!! Kids definitely enjoyed this. Bathrooms are clean which is always a plus! Pretty big restaurant with a lot of seats and tables. There are 3 different rooms. One of them has doggy photos all over and a seating bar area which was my favorite. Server was really nice and let us know the kitchen was running a little behind. Refried beans are okay. Needed more flavors The Chuychanga was tasty inside especially with the boom boom sauce but tortilla was super sweet and I think it was probably because of the oil it was deep fried in. Overall good experience and best of all the pricing was even better. Awesome weeknight dinner for us.

    Chicka-Chicka Boom-Boom Enchiladas

I had great experiences at Chuy whenever I feel like having good foods and great services we ordered beef fajitas and chicken enchiladas chicka chicka boom boom everything came out very hot and fresh like the way I like it. We always order a side of queso, perfect with the thinly crispy corn chips that comes with any order to start the meal. Salsa however was on the very salty side but we were offered to try the green and chipotle salsas which were tasty. Alex our waiter was very attentive constantly refilling the chips and drinks! Great spot for Tex Mex!

What fun to find a Texas favorite here in Florida! I am not in this area much but was so happy to have a chance to eat at Chuys. The interiors were fun, we had nice and quick service. It was great for the work lunch hour. Of course, it hits the spot for that Tex Mex craving!

    Chile relleno and enchilada plate

Chuy's is the perfect spot for dining after spending time at the outlets across the street. The interior of the restaurant is bright and colorful; we loved the wall of dog pics (apparently you can bring a framed pic of your dog to get a free appetizer). Our server was approachable and friendly. We got the chicken and steak fajitas as well as the enchilada and chile relleno combo plate. The portions are huge! In retrospect, we could have easily just gotten one of the plates and it would've been fine for the 2 of us. Absolutely loved the steak fajitas. They had a yummy citrus flavor. The chicken was also delicious and tasted very fresh with the vegetables and other toppings. You could make little tacos since they provided tortillas too. The chile relleno had that nice pepper flavor, but it was a bit too fried for me. The enchilada was spicy and filling. Highly recommend the fajitas and the fun vibes at Chuy's.

Busy location. Make reservation ahead of time. This restaurant is huge. Feels like local taqueria. Servers are friendly. Service is fast. The food is good. Reasonably priced. I love their chicken quesadillas. They are so fresh.

Burnt chicken, little to no cheese
    Angela S.

We come here all the time because my son loves the fajitas. I normally rather enjoy the ponchos but today was just a very bad and disappointing experience. They're not really that busy for being a Sunday afternoon but my chip base for the ponchos we're all overcooked. Most of my chicken was burnt and there's not really much chicken or cheese on my ponchos.

Don't you love good surprises? Yeah, me too…read more I'm a long fan of Vallarta's... and had been to most locations-except for two. This was one of them. For some reason, I never seemed to be in the area during margarita hours. That changed on Saturday, when we met up here for a weekend wind-down. It's bigger inside than you think-with a large dining room and a roomy separate bar area. I love the colorful Mexican-inspired tables and the tile on the room divider. There's a fun and festive vibe flowing in here. I'm very familiar with the Vallarta's menu and knew I wanted the cheese dip. You can use the complimentary chips (that come with salsa) for dipping, but I was craving the warm, soft tortillas---totally worth the extra $1.50 for three of them. I could have been full on that, but couldn't resist ordering one of the combos. For $16.95 (as of June 2026), I had a taco (beef/crunchy), an enchilada (cheese with verde sauce) and a chile poblano (no tomato sauce on top). What an amazing mix of flavors and textures-so tasty and filling, I took more than half of it home. That taco was stuffed with well-cooked beef, crunchy fresh lettuce and their yummy white cheese. Divine! The verde sauce had tons of spice and a depth of flavor. And the stuffed and battered poblano was huge! This is a massive value for money... and so satisfying! And the adorable sun shaped lime wedge on the margarita... sensational!!! That's their Instagram moment... and such a fun extra. So, I expected the solid food and fun atmosphere. But the service took this to the next level. Carlos was so accommodating. He really listened-made great suggestions-always picked the perfect moment to check in. He brought a plastic bag with the box for leftovers-and even a container for the remaining queso. His kindness and thoughtfulness is so appreciated-and elevated this experience. Bravo-and thank you. This location is in a bustling strip mall, on the south side of SR 54... just west of Wesley Chapel (the Caribou Coffee Shop is right in front of it-and there's a Trampoline jumping place next door). There's lots of parking-and you guys know how I love that. Can't wait to go back and bring the whole crew with me!

First time here and was pretty impressed…read more As usual they offered chips and salsa that was pretty good. Personally wish it had a little more of a bite but that's just me! I ordered the Grande Burrito. Great size and packed full of meat and other filling. They offer 2 different sauces for topping so of course I went with both half and half. One was more tangy and lite bite to it, other had more tomato base with a creamy under tone. Both are great but the green sauce was my favorite. Service was good overall. Kinda wish the waiter came around a little more as they weren't very busy but he did keep my water topped off for the most part so can't complain too much. Overall this looks like a Mexican restaurant but way more themed chairs. Really makes the whole place pop more than regular boring chairs. Local place to the house will definitely stop by for more food and drinks.
