We decided to try Chuy's instead of all the $$$ options at the Opryland resort - glad we did! First, our waiter Rob was FANTASTIC!!! I can't stress that enough. Extremely attentive, helpful and friendly. Refilled water, chips and salsa before we had to ask. He made this dining experience great (I hope management recognized him for this!). The chips are awesome, light and fresh. We had the steak burrito (per Rob's suggestion) and enchilada stack, both were very good. Like other reviews have said, the chicken wasn't the most flavorful so do yourself a favor and get guacamole to put on top. But I'd want that even with properly seasoned chicken ... Agreed with other reviewers that host staff not very friendly and lots of them milling around. Almost awkward. I wanted to ask one of them for the manager when we were leaving (to praise Rob), but they didn't seem remotely interested in working so I left. That's a bit of a shame as they're the first impression of the restaurant. Overall, very good - fast service, prices are right, big menu to choose from. The food was amazing and the atmosphere was great! My friend hyped it up and we were so excited for our first dinner in Nashville! The only thing that kept the other two stars away was the waitress, Marlee. She was friendly to every other table but ours. Apparently our mere presence was offensive to this woman and waiting on us ruined her whole day. There was another waiter that stopped and spoke to us and honestly he deserved the tip from our table...he didn't wait on us but he did treat us like customers not like gum on his shoe. I've been to Mexico over 100 times, this food does not come close to that. The salsa is good and so are the hand made tortillas but the chicken enchiladas were dry... even in the sauce. I have never really had bad mexican food until I ate here today. I don't feel like it was due to anything covid related. Our margarita seemed to contain little to no alcohol. The entrees and salsa just tasted really really bad. The chips were cold. There were multiple flies flying around us while eating. I am very picky when it comes to Mexican food. I'm spoiled by my BF who cooks me authentic Mexican food at home. I usually won't go to Mexican restaurants but I'm glad I went to Chuy's. Our server Lindsey was friendly and even got me a taste of a blackberry margarita (little sweet for me but fresh and yummy). Their reg margaritas are excellent. I have been eating at Chuy's since I can remember.It's always been a fun quirky place to eat at. I am currently living close to Nashville, TN and when I get homesick for Texas I eat at this location. The staff is always really cool and friendly and the food is every bit as good as the locations in Austin. They have fantastic(strong) Margaritas! Happy Hour is amazing and they offer corn tortillas which is great for people like me who can't eat gluten. Their special jalapeño cream sauce is pretty addicting. *My Chuy's favorites are:Texas Martini,Tortilla Soup. Chuychanga, steak fajitas, Chilli Rellenos and the Elvis plate is so good, but it can probably feed 2 people. When I was in volleyball as a teenager I could eat all of it, but not anymore. The one con I have about this location is how crowded it is. It's attached to Opry Mills Mall and if you hit this place at the wrong time it can be a super long wait. Suggestion is to call ahead and see how long the wait is to prepare yourself or eat at an off time when it is less crowded. Such a cute restaurant! I've been here twice and both times were delicious. They're tortilla chips are very thin and crispy. Yum! I love their Baja tacos, and would recommend them. My family and I are visiting out of town, we came here late on our first night visiting Tennessee! We only had some chips and drinks- great time not very busy in the restaurant! Pretty quick visit over all. We loved it and wanted to came back. This time (today) my family and I got paired up with a horrible waitress named Pepper. She had nothing nice to say and treated my grandmother, aunts, and cousins like we were all a burden. (WE ARE NOT HIGH MAINTENANCE.) I in fact don't even use the yelp app to leave reviews but I felt the need to vocalize how horrible we were treated. She had a attitude all night, a huge sigh for only after asking for napkins and more salsa. She was rude and told my grandma to wait her turn when grandma asked a question about what she was ordering. She eye rolled and slammed the food down like a child. I'm sorry if it was a busy day and you're tired. I work retail and deal with customers all the time so I feel like I'm super polite while at a restaurant. It wasn't until we gave her over 25% tip (kinda meant to be a jab at her attitude haha.) at the end did "Pepper" get a little 'Pep' in her step. She did get us everything we needed so her waiting skills are there but lose the attitude and learn how to freaking smile. So much for southern hospitality.. Don't work where people are going to ask basic questions about a menu, or drinks if you're going to make someone feel stupid for it. That's all. Great food! We loved this place! We even looked it up to see if there was one closer to where we live. The food was AMAZING! The staff was extremely helpful and speedy. We went at a very busy time and had a little bit of a wait so we got a drink at the bar. The bartender was very quick to help us and get our drinks. Our server was so fast and helpful. Food is usually spot on here - their creamy jalapeño is the best and goes on everything! This location, though, seems to struggle with service. While getting better, for a long while almost every visit we had here had poor service. Drinks never getting refilled, waiting for long periods for just about anything- was always the norm here. Chuy's is one of my favorite restaurants and we have been to this location several times but today's visit will most likely be my last. The food was as good as always, and the service was okay (not stellar) but it was hard to enjoy my food with all the flies in our part of the dining room. I counted no less than 5 at our table and the next. I kept wondering how many were in the kitchen and had they been all over my food. It's been a while where I've been thoroughly dissatisfied with a dining experience. Unfortunately, Chuy's has been the most recent of these negative experiences. To start out, the "host" seemed like he had never led people to their seats before and didn't acknowledge us very well when my girlfriend and I entered. He didn't speak up and didn't make clear that we were supposed to follow him. When we were seated questionably, the ordering process and delivery of our choices was one of the positive points during this visit. Our server was the shining star in the dark abyss establishment of Chuy's as he did everything right and beyond a restaurant worker should do. Chuy's is as fake Mexican fare as you can get but I wasn't expecting it to be anything authentic. The thing is if you're going the non-authentic route at least do it well. The food was poor quality like worse than the stereotypes of fast food chains like Taco Bell or McDonald's quality. A simple order of chicken tacos was turned into a rubbery and chewy consistency that I'm sure taco shells aren't supposed to be. The meat, veggies, and rice were average to below average and I'm surprised I could down the main portion of my meal without consequences of vomiting or a seat on the toilet. The interior and our table felt dirty and looked unkept. For those who couldn't tell, this place sucks. Maybe I just had bad luck but not taking the risk of being utterly disappointed even after having low expectations. Our server was the only person holding me back from making this my first 1-star review. Bless your soul Chuy's worker whose name I forgot. You're the one they have but don't deserve. read more

I go just for the Jalapeño dip! It is amazing! The food is average, definetly not authentic. The atmosphere is fun for a family. Very noisy! Perfect place to bring someone you don't really want verbally interact with! That annoying coworker for example. The overall style and atmosphere of the restaurant greeted me with a nice blend of wacky, eccentric, and whimsical. The server seemed a bit detached from his position and trying to juggle too many tables. The dining experience was decent to say the least due to the inattentive waiter and the lacking quality of food. This is my first experience at this chain and it did not present me with a valid reason to revisit. Texas martinis are fantastic, the salsa is super fresh and the chips are perfectly crispy just like we get in Texas. Food = Excellent (reason this is 2 star instead of 1 star) Service/Experience = Terrible. This was my second trip to Chuy's Nashville. I was there a few months ago (Christmas) and the service was slow but not ridiculous. This week, was another story! I took colleagues out for dinner. Here is our 2 hour experience as succinctly as possible: - Arrival good, only had to wait 10 minutes or so. - Arrival bad, no silverware - hostess advised she would bring some out shortly (she never did) - Server ("JC"), really terrible. He was slow, acted like he didn't want to be there, and when he was asked what choices of beans they had, his response was, "I don't know, look at the menu." Seriously JC? Aren't you supposed to KNOW what beans you have? - Appetizer plate and queso order took more than 30 minutes - Dinner order took almost an hour! We were in the restaurant right at two hours, it was ridiculous. Even more ridiculous, the lack of professionalism. After waiting for entrees for ~35-40 minutes, we asked for a manager - he didn't arrive. After a few minutes more we asked to see the manager a second time, he didn't arrive (we were told he was in the kitchen helping with food). A few minutes more, we ask for manager a THIRD TIME. JC responded, "do you want him to come out here or get your food?". The table next to us had a similar experience - waiting a LONG time for food, their kids were crying that they wanted to go home, it was a joke! Finally the food and the manager arrives. Basically he said they were busy and, "having one of those days". Then, for the really odd part, when the check comes, JC dropped it and walked off. I take a peak and see that all of our meals were comped. While this was a nice gesture, I found it SHOCKING that JC nor the manager said a word. No, "sorry this happened, allow us to comp your meal" or "please give us another try later", he just dropped the check and walked off. Very strange and unprofessional. BTW, JC really is a terrible waiter - he had to be "flagged down" to come to our table, would disappear for 20 minutes at a time, had to be asked multiple times for everything from drink refills to salsa, napkins, etc. He was curt, had attitude, and had to rely on other servers to help him out. At the end of the day, the food here is really good but I have to seriously question the management at this location. I've had SIGNIFICANTLY better experiences at other Chuy's (i.e. - in Knoxville). Like the front of the door says, "If you've seen one Chuy's - you've seen one Chuy's". For the sake of this company, I would hope that's the case! read more
