We arrived at 1 p.m. and they were busy so we took a table in the bar. Our server came over right away, was friendly and offered different options for margaritas that weren't on the menu. He had our chips and dips out shortly after he took our drink order. We split the fajitas for 1 with chicken and beef fajita meet. There was enough food to feed both of us ladies. I like that they include sour cream and cheese with the entree rather than some places that nickel and dime you with additions. The beef had some gristle and the chicken was a little dry. I45 is lined with Mexican food restaurants and I must admit I have tried most of them. That being said Chuys is my favorite for a great meal for a fair price. My favorite is the combo enchilada of which I get the Chicka Chicka boom boom, and the tomatillo. I can fill up on the chips, salsa, and creamy jalapeño if I'm not careful. Love to sit in the bar and look at everyone's frame pictures of pets. They have a full bar with many signature margaritas, marg-tinis and Texas size cocktails along with a good selection of beer. Fun upbeat atmosphere with party tunes playing in the background. They have lots of seating so generally, there's not much of a wait. Solid choice if you're looking for a great meal. read more

In a street lined with Mexican restaurants, Chuy stands out is the goofiest. Others take themselves too seriously, and call themselves "Latin cuisine" . Not Chuy's, its Tex-Mex. Fake plastic trees stuck in the 1970s Tex-Mex. The only Mexican restaurant I know that doesn't just give chips and salsa. they give chips and ranch dressing. overall, this is a solid choice with good service, reasonably good food at a reasonably good price. read more

I keep forgetting to add Chuy's into my Tex-Mex line up! But after having lunch with coworkers, I definitely will be frequenting... We arrived Friday around 1130am. Lunch time rush hadn't quite started so we were seating right away. The restaurant is quirky yet aesthetically pleasing, the menu was easy to follow and gave a variety of options. Our waiter approached us in a timely manner, however throughout the time we were there the attentiveness was inconsistent. He was really nice but seemed to be overworked and lost track of time. We had to inform him that we were on our lunch break and time was not on our side. Nonetheless, our food was delish! The complimentary chips and salsas are true contenders in reference to other similar establishments. I ordered soft tacos with beef, it also came with refried beans and rice. We heard family talk about how good Chuy's was and we have been looking for good Mexican food. We were in the area and thought we would give it a try. OH MY!!!! The restaurant is decorated very colorfully and our waiter, Kevin, was cheerful and attentive. We received our chips and salsa...AND...the creamy Jalapeno dip. That was like jalapeno ranch dressing. Both were good and the chips were great. We ordered the steak burrito with hatch pepper, Mexican rice, and beans, and a chicken enchilada (a la carte). The food came out in a reasonable amount of time and was hot. The green chili on the enchilada was bland and seemed like it needed another ingredient. The hatch green chili sauce on the steak burrito had good taste and was slightly spicy (for me). Overall, the food was some of the better Mexican food we have tried in the last few months. I ordered the Comida Deluxe platter which comes with a crispy taco, which fell apart, 2 chicken flautas. (no dipping sauce or cheese sauce) Spanish rice, refried beans & 2 big chips with cheese on them ... ? I prefer charro beans over refried but I guess this is what you get with this plate...I probably enjoyed the cheese queso the most that one of my friends ordered. I can't handle spicy food, but the flavors were so good it didn't matter. I also tried the raspberry margarita. HUGE margarita and delicious! I asked for a sugar rim, definitely a must try while it's here. Our waiter Tyler was very attentive aswell! They made sure our table was okay multiple times throughout the meal. It had been a while since I visited Chuy's and now I remember why. I guess to be fair, all was well until the interaction with the manager came to the table. Zero customer service skills whatsoever and had no intention on actually listening to an answer for a question that he asked in the beginning. What would be the purpose of asking a question if you don't care to listen to the answer? Chuy's Facebook posting for National Tequila Day is was brought us in however when we received our bill we didn't have the happy hour deals on the ticket. I spoke to the waiter to inquire about the queso and margarita specials to see if this was a mistake on our part or the system to which Jay was unaware so he did ask us to allow him to go ask. Our table was then approached by a manager which I am told his name is Jeanaro which I am sure I am not spelling correctly. While trying to explain what I saw online, versus what was on our tickets he kept immediately wanting to cut me off, and then began getting very upset and trying to be intimidating to which for sure did not go over well for me. He tried explaining that this special was NOT all day however the post was clearly saying the specials were ALL DAY. If this was not something being honored at this location, he could have easily explained that to us without being confrontational about it, to which I am not sure at this point he's capable of. Although in the end this manager felt like he rectified the situation, in my opinion he did not. When dining out, I can pay for what I order. Taking $5 off my bill was not the answer. Help a customer understand the specials and pricing as asked. Don't just assume customers want money off a bill to attempt to make them "happy." What a way to ruin a dining experience for a party of 5 that would potentially come back to patronize this establishment. I mentioned a few times that I could not believe the place was empty but after this I completely see why it is. Which sucks because I love patronizing my Shenandoah businesses. Do better Chuy's. Worst experience! Hosts were friendly, but waiter seemed to be annoyed that we were there. Once he brought us our drinks we barely saw him again. Then someone else brought us our food and we saw him waiting on other tables, but we were forgotten. We ran out of drinks and he was no where to be found. Food was hideous, rice was hard and overly seasoned, beans also tasted burnt. Tortillas were cold, not mildly cold, they were cold to even have a hard time folding. My family and I have eaten at chuys and done to go orders many times in the past. Sometimes there would be a small issue, but nothing crazy. This time they messed up our order super badly. I ordered the family pack chicken fajitas and they gave us both chicken and beef. I have a beef allergy due to a type of sugar contained in beef, and my other family members don't eat beef. We were unable to eat due to the circumstances. Our fajitas are also supposed to come with chips, creamy jalapeno, queso, and salsa. They packed a giant bag of chips with no dipping sauces. This is absolutely ridiculous that this wasn't carefully checked before packing up. Will not be eating at chuys again. If I could give this a zero star review I would. Save your money read more

The meat was seasoned but not like a taco should. The shells tasted off even. The green chili rice tasted ...old and moldy. I came here with two friends on National Tequila Day. I was trying to convince my friends to take advantage of the tequila shot deal, but they wouldn't, so we just had margs instead. I got the frozen watermelon marg and it was very refreshing. We also started with the queso, but I kind of wish we hadn't. The queso itself was very thin, more like a cheese soup than an actual scoopable queso. For my entree, I got the enchiladas, however, we never got any silverware. When my friend asked for some silverware, they came and literally threw down 3 plastic utensil sets like you would get in a to go order. I guess they had run out of silverware somehow? I could barely cut my enchiladas, which were just okay. Overall, I think the food was mid. I know its just a tex mex chain, but there are so many other, better places to go. Me and my friends have been to this chuys twice now. This last time we went around 6:30 on a Monday. It's always been a good experience. The food here is good, but it's more about the experience for us. It's a very homey and kitschy restaurant, and is a great place to spend time. We've had the same waiter both times now and he's been great! He always cracks jokes and makes it a really fun experience. This time we sat outside & got dinner and a show. The local squirrels (named william and Defoe) were begging for our food & were fighting / really showing how much they loved each other. It was funny to watch, but it might be a little disturbing if you're going with your family (LOL). Honestly, it made the experience that much better & we'll never forget about that night at chuys. The queso and beans was great, but everything else was just good. The water was good. I loved how our waiter filled our chip basket 3 times. Overall - worth it & I would happily go again. We(a party of 7 special needs athletes, and 4 parents), arrived around 7PM, on Saturday, April 11th. I had called ahead, to let the restaurant know about us, and that we would be there, shortly. The Hostess(and dang'it, I didn't get her name), let me know that there would be a wait. This was COMPLETELY expected, and we were prepared for it. I checked in with Hostess, when we arrived. She remembered our phone call, and informed me that they were already preparing our seating. It was PACKED, and BUSY, to say the least, and Hostess was patient, efficient and attentive, to EVERYONE she was dealing with, customers, AND staff. Once we were seated, our server, Ryan N, was EVERYTHING we could have asked for. As busy as he was, he NEVER acted rushed, and gave us ALL the attention, we needed. A couple of folks, in our group, had some dietary considerations, and Ryan was ready with suggestions that satisfied. I also, have to mention a Manager, and another server whose names I did not get. Manager assisted Ryan with our service, and the server came over, and told us she REALLY wanted to pet a service animal that was with us, but respectfully, did not. I arrived as soon as doors opened 11 am for take out. I ordered chicken fajita salad and chicken quesadillas to go. They packed chips and salsa but wanted 75 cents extra for pico de gallo. They gave me chips and salsa while I waited. The water to go tasted like toilet water so it wasn't filtered and I parked that cup at the bar for disposal. And I got diarrhea from this meal so chicken or something wasn't fresh. Servers were very kind, happy and fun. Smells a little moldy so they need a good cleaning maybe in their HVAC and AC filter change. Otherwise was very clean, including floors and everywhere else. read more

For my 3rd post in my life on reviews ever, the first was an Austin chuys and now my beloved close to home chuys. 2nd review over workers hating their job and the food. I hate writing this. Logan hates his job. Idk if he's just like this? But in a fun atmosphere, you have to have fun people. Our very presence seemed to bother him, he's not personable like a bartender and when you look around people are rolling eyes and looking annoyed. It's a busy enough place to make some money. But then..... the quesadillas. Easy and cheap to make so make them good. It's an over sized tortilla with idk what in it. Meat was good... so I opened it and ate with a fork. There wasn't enough cheese to make it stick together enough to call it a quesadilla. We also brought friends from Belize who wanted some good Texas texmex they said next time take us somewhere else. Also, the server did not put any napkins on my table and never refilled my iced tea. I think it is best that I NEVER go to Chuy's (any location) again. Wow! What a fun Tex-Mex restaurant to go to! To me, this restaurant felt like it fit somewhere between the world of Taco Bell and a serious Mexican restaurant. I really liked the retro vintage decor, the value for the generous portions, the delicious quality & taste of the food and the service! For starters, Chuy's has a really cool vibe and decor! I assume there was a love for Elvis and Mexico when decisions were made for interior decorating, as everything has that vinyl 1950s seating, tables and overall design. There is even a large painted portrait of an Elvis Matador... We were seated very quickly, even though the restaurant was very busy and brought our free chips and salsas to our table right away. The chips were fresh, the salsa was a bit spicy (which I like but probably not recommended for the sensitive) and also served a creamy sour cream like dip as well. To get a taste of the variety of meals, we went with the Elvis Presley Memorial Combo, a side of the deluxe tomatillo sauce (which I highly recommend) and an order of chicken quesadillas. The Elvis Presley combo was awesome because it included (3) assorted enchiladas, a taco, rice, beans and also large size fried tortillas with an American cheese style sauce on them. Everything was cooked and spiced very well, not salt but full of flavors! The chicken quesadilla was also very delicious as the tortillas, cheese and grilled chicken was also delicious, with a generous amount of grilled chicken inside the quesadillas. Our server had a great attitude and also very attentive, refilling drinks routinely and checking up on our meal satisfaction. It was also apparent that the staff was very happy and functioned very well together. Overall, I would absolutely give Chuy's three big thumbs up and will definitely be coming back here again and again!
