Finally found Mexican food in DFW that I like!!!! Both the food and service were great, I'll def be coming back.

Since my last review this location has gotten much better. The spice of the food is under control and I no longer need 3 gallons of water to cool down. The service is still pretty hit or miss, but there's a bunch of young kids working here so I guess that's pretty expected. I'm glad they've gotten the food more consistent because I love chuy's, but I don't enjoy driving to Dallas to dine there. read more

I have always enjoyed Chuy's in Dallas on Knox Henderson - it never disappoints. I wonder if the Chuy's in Southlake has a clue how good the one is in Dallas. The Elvis Presley Platter has always been my favorite but after having it at Chuy's Southlake I doubt if I will ever order it again - it's horrible - the tortillas for the enchiladas were overcooked and appears to be flour instead of corn, the mole sauce was awful it was cooked into the tortilla the result of being overheated under heat lamp too long, the chicken was boiled with no flavor when it should be roasted, the only thing that was tasty on this large platter was the crispy beef taco. The Margarita was sour, not fresh. This Chuy's location is so overrated. read more

My wife and I had an outstanding meal. After enjoying their chips, salsa, and liquid crack (the creamy jalapeno) my wife had enchiladas and I had Elvis's green chili fried chicken. We both agreed it was one of the best dinners we had eaten at a Chuys and we have eaten there several times across 7 different locations. The margaritas, rocks and swirl, we're very good too. Bad day to visit Chuy's today. I waited for 5 mins to be sat, and though plenty of staff walked by, nobody greeted me. So I tried the bar and after sitting down, the bar tender walks off and didn't come back. Then to top it off, the fire alarm went off, so I left while the alarm was still blaring. read more

Wait would have only of been 15-20 with church rush but we were able to grab seats at the bar and had prompt service from the bartender Justin. My five year old loved the shirley temples with extra cherries justin kept full and I thought the #9 light chicken combo was perfect with the creamy jalapeño ranch dip. Food as usual excellent have been here many times. Have never had a bad experience until today. I had to go and get the manager because after waiting for our waiter to return and still we had no refills on our drinks. I feel like we were being ignored because we ordered no alcohol beverages. Well, a few years we have had good service here after my last review. Tonight not so much. Super slow and inattentive service, meals came out wrong and we were told that is the way we ordered. No. Not anywhere near what we have always ordered. Chips and drinks always empty. The restaurant was a mess. Food on floor all over as walked by the kitchen. I wish I had not glanced in the kitchen. Staff standing and talking while walking over chips all over the floor. Really? If you have time to chat you have time to clean the floor. Disgusting. What in the world has happened to this location? My husband and I went for an early dinner on Sunday at 4:30. The restaurant was not packed by any means so our service was great by the sweetest waiter, Lucas! I LOVE the decor of this restaurant. The entryway's ceiling is full of old cameras! One of the dining rooms has old hubcaps up on the ceiling. (I think they were hubcaps) The restaurant is colorful and bright but not too bright. They had a mix of current and old music playing. I had the Chick Chick Boom Boom enchiladas which were excellent. Served piping hot. The chicken was tender and plentiful and very flavorful. It could have had a bit more sauce on them but I did not ask for more. The rice and beans were even very tasty. My husband had the Elvis Chicken and that was super tasty! The salsa was a bit on the hot side so I can see where a lot of people would not like that. For me, it was great. Also they served a Creamy Jalapeno Ranch type dip that was super good and I did not think that was very spicy. Our server offered to give us chips and salsa to take home but we declined. Lucas also put our ice tea in to go cups which I thought was very nice. Great place. Can't even think of one negative thing to say! read more

Great place to grab a quick lunch or get together with the family at dinner. This place is smaller than the original Chuy's in Austin but still has the same great food. Tortillas are made fresh and free chips and queso from the bar during happy hour. Now that the weather is cooling down, it was unusually cold inside so we dined out in the patio. read more

Atmosphere was great. Food was excellent. Service by everyone but our waiter was great. However, try to avoid the server Bailey. She was not knowledgable about the menu (when I asked her about the churro beans she told me she didn't know..they were just "like beans in water". So being vegetarian I like to choose Mexican restaurants....because it's easy. Ask for veggies tacos and boom done. So.... Order veggie tacos here and they give you guac tacos (literally a pile of guac in a tortilla with lettuce). So I sent it back saying no I just want veggie tacos... so they just put onions on top of the lettuce. Send it back again and they remake by putting guac again in it (I've said I don't want guac) and just some peppers. This is to the manager specifically and he specially said yeah we will just put a vegetable medley. At this point I just wiped the guac off one taco and took the "veggies" from both to try and make a veggie taco. Safe to say it didn't work, still got charged andddd I'm never going back. read more

I know this is a casual dining restaurant, but is it really sanitary to be seated by a hostess whose butt was hanging out of her tiny pink romper? Seriously, I came for a margarita, not a shake. All together the restaurant was fine, but the hostess stand was a mess and the girls working it were unprofessional to say the least. They could not figure out which of the open tables to put a high chair at and decided they would put us at a booth without a high chair. My baby is not old enough to sit in a booster which is why we asked for a high chair. The hostess then huffed about where she was going to seat us and made us obviously uncomfortable until a server stepped in and took over for her. read more

Went here recently for my wife's birthday. We were told 15 minutes for a table. After 25 minutes of waiting with 3 small children getting restless we decided to check and see if our table was almost ready. The hostess said it would be another 15 minutes before our table was ready with no sympathy that their original estimate was off. We waited another 15 minutes and then just decided to cut our losses and leave. We had to drop off visiting family at the airport, so we grabbed a simple quick bite nearby and went to the airport. My poor wife loves the food at Chuy's and was excited about going there for her birthday with family but they dropped the ball big time. Very disappointing. Chuy's is exceptional for a few reasons. Food: Fresh Tex Mex at it's best. They are lacking a good cheese taco, but that's just something they don't do and I can go elsewhere for that. This place does not have a walk in freezer on the premises. They have a small freezer for ice cream and french fries (which I have never ordered) so everything else is made fresh. Tortillas are homemade, both flour AND corn. You have to ask for it, but they have a house made jalapeno ranch dip to dip your chips in and it's FREE. If you go, make sure to try it! That doesn't mean you should skip the queso, which is great and you can order a small instead of the big one for around three bucks. The house salsa is fresh made (non cooked version) which is not very Tex Mex, but it's lemon/lime zesty and fresh tasting. Hand pulled roasted white meat chicken on the chicken dishes. The chicken tostada is great. Chili rellenos are also extremely good. Your typical Tex Mex enchiladas, tacos, rice and beans are my favorite. Fajitas are usually sizzling so much they will annoy anyone within five feet (the way it should be). By the way, no lard in the refried beans! They certainly taste great anyway. They even offer a vegetarian plate and it's really good. Yes, I've had it. Drinks: Happy hour every weekday evening offers FREE nacho bar. Yes, FREE. The margaritas are great and what you'd expect. They also have some hand made cocktails that are not going to be on par with your favorite chic hipster bar, but they're pretty damn good anyway. You won't get a frozen margarita this good at said hipster bar (I've tried). The prices: Cheaper than almost anywhere else with the same type of food in town, which baffles me to this day. I guess they do so much business that they make it work. For lunch with two people it's often under $25. How does that happen? Of course if you have drinks, prices go up accordingly. The service: Okay, I'm giving them a pass on this one. It's not amazing. That said, I have had exceptional service here but it's not consistent. I can see how people (especially in this area) get spoiled by the high end restaurants. Think small town diner and you won't be disappointed. I have had to wait for things a few times but I've never had a server that was rude. It does get very busy. There also seems to be quite a bit of staff turnover. Even though I'm a regular, it's hard to get the same servers because let's face it...if you're one of the really good ones you're going to go across the street where the food prices are higher so you can make double the money in tips. I would. To the haters out there: This is a TEX MEX restaurant. If you are used to the type of Mexican food they serve out west like California, Arizona or Nevada (used to live there) it is not going to be that type of food (with New Mexico being the exception, might find a bit of that). In fact, this is the type of food Texans can't find in those areas and long for. That said, many people from all over are moving to our town and if you'd like to try something new, why not? Texans and Mexicans have been making food together for a long time and this is what we grew up with. read more

I have been to the this Chuys at least once a week for the last year and a half. ITS THE BEST! Their food is fantastic and you can be in and out on a normal week night in half an hour. As a bonus there is free queso in the bar during happy hour and there seasonal margaritas are always delicious. I have never had a bad waiter at this location. They are always nice and courteous and almost always you get a manager coming behind the waiter making sure you are truly taken care of. If it wouldn't make me 600 pounds I would eat here every day. read more

Food was not as good as has been in the past. That being said, the thing that bothered me the most was the lack of cleanliness in the restaurant. Utensil wrappers were all over the floor and the waiters could have cared less. Either the restaurant needs a manager to get in behind the "young" staff or they need to hire kids with a bit more initiative/pride. read more

Coaching needed for the staff. First off the hubcap room is terribly noisy. It may be the sound bouncing off the metal, but you cannot carry a conversation. Secondly, and my biggest pet peeve, is a wait staff that brings the check and asks about dessert when we haven't even finished half of our entree. Slow down. Lastly I ordered the Elvis Combo and it obviously sat under the heat lamp for a long time. The food was charred from the lamps and the rice and beans were dry and burnt. Still cannot find a Chuys as good as the original al in Austin. This one is bland and dry. Soup is so full of tortillas that you only get about 5 spoonfuls of broth and 3 pieces of chicken. Service was excellent though. read more

This is one of the favorite Mexican restaurant that I visit with my family and friends. The food is great, had the veggie enchiladas and one of my family members had veggie quesadilla and both of the items were excellent. Creamy jalapeño sauce is excellent.
