First time here, and loved it! I'm honestly not a big fan of Mexican restaurants because I feel like the vegetarian options are always the same. However this place definitely surprised me... I ordered the veggie enchiladas but asked for them with boom boom sauce instead of what it comes with and it was AMAZING! The boom boom sauce makes the entree so flavorful! To be honest, the food was okay. The tacos were really fresh as well as other ingredients. The cheese was melty and sweet which I enjoyed. I also felt customers could maybe have more customizable ingredients and toppings. The decoration in the restaurant was very bright and fun, but in a good way. It seems very cozy and inviting. We had a very good night because of our server, Mari. She was nice and kind to us although she was very busy. So, Chuy,s got one star for food, one for ambience, and two for service. Additionally, the food appeared to be microwaved or simply sitting out too long - the beans had an opaque appearance, definitely not fresh. We gathered here for a platoon even and right away I was impressed with the chips and salsa. They also had this white dipping sauce that was tasty too. I don't want to say that things went downhill when I ordered my meal, I just wasn't that impressed with my make shift surf n' turf burrito they had never heard of. The burrito had way too much queso sauce on top which I was talked into by the waiter and, the burrito wrapping was too much. There was a lot of excess wrap so every bite was more wrap than anything. This was always one of my favorite places to go for Mexican food but not so much after this visit. I noticed that there weren't as many customers as usual but didn't think about that until we sat down. There was a laminated card on the table, which I thought was their specials and a QR code on the table which I scanned thinking it would show their whole menu. What a surprise it was to find that that card was, indeed, their whole menu, including drinks. there were a few basics on the menu but close to 75% of the menu was missing... including my favorites. The server said that the menu "may" come back next year. It appears that the entire chain has this reduced menu. Instead of ordering a meal, we just ordered an appetizer and dessert to share. I got the Panchos which were just okay. The tortillas were really chewy so only the toppings could be eaten. The whole thing was just so disappointing. Our server was great but that was the only great thing about this visit. I will wait until they bring back their menu before visiting again. read more

Let me preface this by saying - I'm generally not a fan of Tex-mex. Due to the proximity of this place to our accommodations - this joint has somewhat begrudgingly become a regular occurrence in our rotation of dinner options for the past few weeks. Is the food terrible? Not really. Is it good? To be honest, not really. It is exactly what I would expect from a national chain fast casual place. Over the past few weeks I've eaten my way through their menu from the enchiladas to fajitas to a burrito and a chimichanga. By far the best of the 4 dishes were the enchiladas. Don't go for the boom boom cheese sauce - it tastes like melted velvetta, but the tomatillo is actually decent. In my experience the burrito was 75% beans with a few pieces of meat and absolutely no onions or peppers. Why it is called steak fajita burrito is beyond me. The chimichanga was overly fried and didn't have much substance. The fajitas were disappointing compared to my usual mexican joint. The chicken looked pre-cooked/processed and the onions were under sautéed. For $18 the portion of fajitas was a bit lacking. The wait staff are super nice and our time in and out has been rather efficient. Beer is way over priced - $6 for a tecate is insane even by NOVA standards. Pico de gallo is actually spicy which is an unexpected bonus. read more

Food: - Main dish (platter): 2.5 stars, should have been better (the flavors were there, but lost to reheating... and most of the texture that could have been great was sadly transformed into semi-mushy rice, dried beans, and tough tortillas - terrible shame what a microwave does to otherwise-good food)... - Sauces: 5 stars, that jalapeño ranch is probably one of the best sauces I've tasted in a long time... they should bottle that and sell it (seriously) - Chips: 5 stars, they were warm, crispy, and delicious Staff: 5 stars, incredibly warm and welcoming, friendly and charismatic- even the casual "courtesies" were fun (I know, weird... but if you were there... ha ha). read more

I've lived in this area for the last 7 years and never once visited until recently. I'm glad I finally came in for lunch one day because the food was spectacular! I believe my wife and I came in for lunch at least four times in one week, where one of the waiters said jokingly, "you're here again?" Hey, when the food is good, why not have some more? The service was great each and every time we visited. The food was fantastic, and the chips and dip are wonderful. I was surprised at how quickly our food would get to us after ordering. I learned the difference between dishes (like what an enchilada was and why it wasn't a fajita or burrito) which was a benefit. Now I know what to order each and every time. I will say this and I almost feel bad about saying it, but there was one occasion where one of my wife's enchiladas was not to her liking. I believe her dish came with 3 enchiladas which were wrapped in corn tortillas. One of the tortillas was dry, hard, and tasted a bit old. She had a hard time cutting it, it being our first enchilada, we thought this was the norm. This was not the case. I didn't want to feel like I was complaining because the service was great and so was the food despite the one bad tortilla, so I said nothing. I want my reviews to be 100%, and you should always report the bad with the good, but even with that, we've visited again and again. Just thinking about some enchiladas and my mouth is watering. So I came here with my friends we had a table for about seven people. Overall I would give this restaurant an easy three stars. I thought the food was generally good but I didn't find it to be exceptional. I thought the cost and price point were a little high for what you got. The day we were there Service was a little slow and the restaurant was quite busy. I think they are suffering from the same thing many other businesses are and that is a shortage on human capital. I've been long time fan of Chuy's since first visiting one in Texas over 20 years ago. That being said, there was a major flaw with my last visit. I'm posting this review in hopes someone from Chuy's will read it and fix it because I've seen in mentioned in other reviews too. The tortillas taste like raw flour!! I don't leave reviews very often, but this place is almost like my second home. Me and my family often eat here after Sunday school, and it's just very welcoming. It had a rough start with customer service a while back, but it's gotten to the point where it's above and beyond now. For starters, the food is top notch, I got steak enchiladas the other day, and it's the best food I've ever had, no joke, I have no idea what y'all put in it, but it is great. The customer service is great, and it doesn't take long for the food to come. The ambiance of the place feels very nice and inviting, with pictures of people dancing and merchandise on the walls, along with some great music. Today (2/22/2022) is national margarita day & it is also my boyfriend's birthday. We came for margaritas but they were not doing anything particular today, they just have the same $2 off of house ritas for happy hour. I tried chuys for a second time tonight & it was just as underwhelming as the first time. I really liked my server, she was very pretty & kind but other than that, my visit was not giving. I tried Chuy's when it initially opened in my area a couple of years ago. I made the mistake of returning for lunch today. The food was cold, burned, unseasoned, and unappetizing in its presentation. Since my lunch break is only so long, I ate the two cold tacos whose ingredients seemed as though they had been sitting for hours--all the while hoping I would not get sick. It was my fault, though, since I returned to this restaurant: "Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me. Simply, I'm not going to make the mistake of eating at Chuy's again. Despite all of that, I must say the service was good, at least. That's the only reason, I gave them two stars; the food only deserves one star, at best though. read more

I don't normally review national chains--mostly because I like promoting the hidden gems and the mom and pop places. However, when something extraordinary happens, I like to take a moment and recognize it. In this case, our server was top notch. Her name tag read, KitKat. I ordered a New Mexico Chili Martini, which is a margarita using green chili infused tequila. When it came time for me to think about a second drink, I asked KitKat what other spicy margaritas they offered. She said, "Oh? You want a spicy one?" and promised to hook me up. She returned with a second New Mexico Martini--but this one had jalapeño slices floating in it, which really gave the drink a new twist. I know it's not on the menu, but she went out of her way to be the best server possible. I'll return to that location simply because they have KitKat on their staff roster. Okay, we have going here for over three years and I have recommended this restaurant to over 40 families aboard MCB Quantico. I wanted you to know this, since we were very disappointed with the manger tonight. My wife was being disrespected when she called back the store, since they had forgotten one thing in our order. Now, the manager could have been mad at me, since I had him come out to my car, when I was not happy with my ticket. We have received 10% discounts for years on the total of the ticket vice just one meal. He told me this should have been the plan all along, but he was fixing the situation. Now, my body was also military, my son is military, and our two spouses had military ID card as well, so we should have received 10% on all the meals, and he just said he would take it next time. We don't go back to other restaurants in the area, since they down graded service and food quality. I hope this is not where Chuy's is heading. We ate here on December 23rd. I noticed that the food tasted off while I was eating, but carried on anyway, as we are in the middle of a move and I was hangry. My husband was the first to become sick. He had diarrhea about 5 times immediately upon returning home, and then was fine. I was the final one to become ill. I first vomited several times in the middle of the night, and then proceeded to sh!t my brains out horribly all of Christmas morning. Merry Christmas to me. I'm positive what saved our two children is the fact that they ate American cuisine and didn't have any of the beans (which tasted extremely off) This was super disappointing to say the least, as Chuys is one of our favorite restaurants usually. Our first time at a Chuy's. Good spacing between tables, looks like they are taking appropriate precautions. Very good super thin chips and homemade salsa (with a little kick) and white ranch sauce delivered promptly when you sit down. We ordered the beef fajitas for two. A few pieces with gristle, but overall tender. Wish the beef was slightly spicier but decent fajitas. The tortillas were very fresh and soft but oddly puffy - like they have baking soda or powder in the dough. Very filling. I ended up eating most of my fajitas without the tortillas. Service was very friendly, but could have been slightly more attentive, asked for an extra plate and never got it. Despite being full we had to try the tres leches cake. Huge. Could easily serve four. Now we understand why it's $8. Honestly we will come back here just for that cake. So tall and delicious, this was at least twice the height of any tres leches cake I'd ever seen. The milks had absorbed into the cake but it was not mushy. That cake deserves 10 stars. Hands down, this is my all time favorite Tex-Mex establishment. There are so many great options on this menu you will not be disappointed. The food is absolutely amazing and the best thing in my opinion is the #1 Comida Deluxe. You get a little bit of everything and a whole lot of food. Cheese Tex-Mex enchiladas, chicken flautas, a seasoned ground sirloin crispy taco, guacamole & homemade tostada chips dipped in chile con queso. Mmmmm. The Woodbridge location is usually pretty quiet and I've never waited for a table. The service is great and Every single one of my servers has always been the most delightful; From ensuring drinks stayed full to refilling the chips to entertaining the kids, or providing recommendations. The atmosphere is definitely family oriented but they do have a full service bar if you're into that type of thing. I don't know if they have any good drink or happy hour specials but I doubt it. read more

I did get a call from the general manager of the Woodbridge Chuy's. I appreciate the call back but they are not requiring employees to mask up although employees are choosing to wear a mask now. It sounded like Chuy's is not following the CDC guidelines; it says " People who are fully vaccinated can resume many activities they did before the pandemic. However, people should wear a mask indoors in public if they are in an area of substantial or high transmission...." So Chuy's seems to be saying "should" means you don't have to wear a mask- CDC has no enforcement ability so they can't say must. Chuy's can enforce the guidelines, however. read more
