Looking for something that would please different pallets, I came across CIBO. A great little restaurant tucked in a shopping plaza. It was full of many regulars. It was a busy Saturday night so we took a table in the bar area. Service was friendly and courteous. We had the polpette alla mamma, penne salsiccia, and pesce (snapper). All the dishes were well presented, perfectly cooked, and very tasty. No complaints from the group. I will definitely eat here again. read more

Just came home from dinner at Cibo's. It was outstanding! Lamb chops with roasted potatoes and sauteed spinach with garlic were perfect. Loved the mint pesto. Beet salad was delightful. Warm bread came with options of garlic butter, olive oil and balsamic glaze or black olive tapenade--nice. Coffee and Love Boat pistachio ice cream finished the very nice meal. I'm stingy with the number of 5-star ratings I give out...but our family's Christmas holiday dinner at this highly praised Fort Myers Italian bistro was without a doubt a total fiver experience. CIBO, tucked in a small plaza off McGregor, impressed me from the very start when Craig, CIBO's gregarious owner came over to our table and introduced himself. What a nice touch...to personalize our visit with his pledge to do everything possible to make sure our dining experience at "his house" was totally enjoyable. Now that's Italian! Outstanding start. Carmen, our efficient and friendly server, walked us through the night's specials and grabbed two bottles of our choice of a nice Sauvignon Blanc to get started. Our party of seven with three generations present, started with 3 orders of the Polpette Alla Casalinga...Mama's delicious meatballs made of beef, pork and veal in a red Pomodoro Sauce and Parmesan Cheese. Highly recommended. With Carmen's help, we ordered a diverse selection of entrees including the 14 oz. Bone-in Veal Chop, a Roasted Chicken Parm, a Chicken Marsala, the day's Surf & Turf Special and a pair of Lasagna Napoletanas. The entrees were fabulous as was Carmen's attentive service. From the moment we arrived until we walked out the door, EVERYTHING was perfect. Wally was our waiter and did an outstanding job. Great server who was attentive but not overly so. Let's talk about the food! Their meatball appetizer was to die for. A very tender, moist and absolutely delicious meatball. They are known for these. Do not miss a chance to try them. My friend had the veal chop with mushroom risotto. The chop was done to perfection. But the risotto was the best I have ever tried. Outstanding. Served hot, Creamy, al dente and perfection to say the least. I had their three cheese ravioli and it was excellent. My Sig Other has the lasagne and loved it. We each had a salad. Wedge, beet and spinach. All three were excellent. Dessert was yummy. Tiramisu and apple cobbler. Both were delicious. Very happy with everything! I love this place! My brothers girlfriend took me here for some small plates & wine, and I must say, I was very impressed. Absolutely delicious. One thing that is very hard to find, made properly, is Gnocchi. The Gnocchi here was some of the best I've tasted in a very long time. Melt in your mouth :-) We sat at the bar, a very lively place(wow) filled with locals all night long, and drank wine after wine talking with everyone around us. We had a great time! :-D The service at the bar was impeccable. I never had to ask for anything. When the glasses got low , we were immediately filled. The Plates were brought out perfectly. I want to say that I am giving this establishment a close 3 stars. I made the reservation on the phone with Dan. The phone message said the workers come in at 3pm and calls would be returned. He was able to fit me in after work at 830pm. When I got there,I sat at the bar. I got to watch Pepe in action. The patrons were live and bubbly. I met Nancy, Al and Karen. My water was served up right away. I may come again if there is an UYE so I'll get to try some other stuff. I wasn't overly impressed with anything I ordered. The bread came out and that was pretty good. They served hot with olive oil and balsamic vinegar, soft butter and some tomato based mix. I then ordered the carpaccio. I found the meat stuck to the plate. It didn't seemed rubbed with olive oil and garlic. No vinaigrette and the capers were dry. I had the clams. Unfortunately, two were closed and about 10 were empty. I had the Caprese. The beef steak tomato didn't taste vine ripened. The basil was tasteless and the mozzarella didn't really accompany the appetizer. I think more balsamic vinegar would have been nice. For my entree, I had the lamb loin. It was done ok. I asked for medium rare. The reduction sauce was ok and I really liked the mint sauce. The asparagus was thick and tasty. The mashed potato left something to be desired. I decided not to have a dessert. I figured I could have a creme brûlée or tiramisu anywhere so I wanted to try the cannoli. By the recommendations of the usuals, I took the check. Greg, I think is the owner, sat at the bar (Dan is the brother), but I don't feel he took an interest in the patrons. I didn't try to strike up a conversation with him anyway. read more

Nice place. Busy, and pretty good food. We had a reservation and were meeting another. We arrived a bit early, gave the reservation name and were seated to wait. The other person arrived early also, gave the reservation name and was seated in the next room. We were both SEATED & WAITING for the other. Knowing we are always prompt, after 15 minutes he called our cell phone to find out where we were, and, of course, we were in the next room. Let's get it together, guys. One demerit. Having said all that, this is still a fine restaurant. The filet was beautifully prepared and presented. My salmon was rather ho-hum, and the pasta bolognese was just fine. This was only my second time at Cibo's, and I already feel comfortable updating my previous review from a 4, and giving them an easy 5 stars. There was the same nice upscale atmosphere and friendly, attentive, and personal service on account of our favorite server, Wally. This time we got the clams and calamari appetizers. My only complaint was that there wasn't more for me to stuff into my face. I also ordered the shrimp scampi special they had for the day and really enjoyed it. The angel hair pasta was great with the lemon ginger sauce and jumbo shrimp. Overall a great dish. Their cappuccino for dessert is amazing and I highly recommend it. The reason Cibo's gets a step up from their previous 4 star review is because of the consistency and quality of food. Both times I've eaten there I was impressed and have yet to find anything negative to comment on. While I am no regular patron, every meal has distinguished Cibo's apart from any other Italian restaurant I've been to in a long time. The level of service and satisfaction brought in every dish I've had exemplifies what I am looking for in a classy, yet cozy restaurant. Although the prices may bring along certain expectations, I would gladly pay that, and then some, to enjoy an awesome meal and great time at Cibo's. Keep up the good work! read more

We had the best meal this evening. I had handmade ravioli stuffed with sweet squash in a very light sauce and pancetta, giving it a wonderful salty sweet combination (a special that I wish could be served daily). My husband had perfectly cooked lamb chops and mint jelly with sauteed spinach and garlic and perfectly roasted potatoes. Our friend had a 12-18oz lobster tail over pasta. They both had wonderful looking salads served with warm crusty bread accompanied by garlic butter, tapenade and oil and balsamic. Sadly, there was no creme brulee, but there were numerous choices for dessert including molten lava chocolate cake and ice cream. Everything was thoroughly devoured and enjoyed! read more

THE BEST RESTAURANT IN FORT MYERS My experience with the food and dining I had plans to come here for dinner with my girlfriend and set up a reservation, since I knew this place would be packed. I arrived at 7pm and we were seated at the bar because the tables were full, a very minor inconvenience but will not change this review one bit. The atmosphere is amazing and very classy. We were served our drinks very fast and had bread on the side. The bartenders were super friendly and talkative which we enjoyed. The food came out and I was completely blown away as to how the dishes looked.I ordered the lobster with crab (forgot the name) and she had the cotoletta di agnello (lamb) for dinner. The dishes were gourmet and intricate, something I have never seen in SWFL. The lobster and crab was the best I ever had and she said the same about the lamb. The prices were reasonable for the quality of food and service we recieved. I left a $35 dollar tip for the bartender for above and beyond service. Recommend this place to everyone to try at least once. I know you will be coming back again. read more

Cibo's is a first-class place to go for great Italian dining & service. I'd only been once before and remembered the food and service being great. Recently, I decided to make a reservation for me & my girlfriend for her birthday dinner. I called during off-hours to leave a message about wanting a reservation. Tim called me back prior to the restaurant being open, and set us up with a two-seat table in a quiet corner. Upon my request, he allowed me to come in prior to the reservation to lightly decorate the table for the occasion; they also were kind enough to put water in a vase with flowers I had brought. My girlfriend was very pleased with the small surprise when we arrived together. Our server was excellent -- she was kind, had a good attitude, was attentive without being overly so, and was very knowledgeable about the menu. Both me & my girlfriend ended up ordering nightly specials our server recommended rather than picking from the regular menu. My special -- homemade raviolis stuffed with chicken, cheese and pepperoni in a vodka sauce -- was delicious. My girlfriend's seafood platter-type dish was also excellent, with almost every type of seafood the restaurant offers included, and was all well-made (especially the calamari and oysters). Only critique I can muster is the Moscow Mule I had was a touch too heavy on the vodka and a touch too light on the ginger beer, but was still enjoyable. Our server was never far away, and other staff were also very attentive with water refills and busing. Management likewise checked in with us more than once to ensure we were having a good time. We have eaten at Cibo often over the past eighteen months and right from the start it became our go-to Italian in Ft Myers. A few months ago as we left dinner we were informed by a drunken man sitting outside that he had purchased it. His appearance confirmed our feeling that cibo had suddenly gone way down hill. Among other things, the chicken in the parmigiana was deep fried with some tomato sauce poured over it -- the texture was a disaster. Same with the Milanese, where the chicken was also deep fried, dry and tough -- shocking. The new owners are either not familiar with the basics of Italian cooking or are taking every possible shortcut. We no longer eat there because of what appears to be a substantial and unfortunate decline in cooking quality. I'm sad to leave this review because it's a nice spot, the staff is very pleasant and we've enjoyed some good meals there, just not since it changed hands. read more

We've visited Fort Myers Beach the past two Christmases, and we've enjoyed Cibo on both trips. This year we went on Christmas Eve, and the restaurant was festive and full. What a great experience! When a restaurant is presided over by the owners, you know you're in for a good dining experience. Customer happiness is money in the bank. Every detail is covered at Cibo, from "Welcome to Cibo," to the "Thank you and have a Merry Christmas." Not knowing the driving time from our condo, but having earlier experiences with FMB holiday traffic, we arrived about 15 minutes early. "Your table's not ready just yet, but we'll seat you in the bar and call you when it is." And right on time, they were ready for us. Our server was great all night. (I'm terrible at remembering names, but I'm thinking "Diana." If not, I apologize, and you were still wonderful in making our meal special. The gentleman who served us last year was serving the table behind ours. It's another good sign when the staff sticks around for years.) My pre-dinner negroni was perfect. Kudos to the bartender! Appetizers were Gamberetto (Cibo's shrimp cocktail) and Caprese, always a favorite. Our meals couldn't have been better. She had the Spaghetti alla Bolognese and is still raving about. She said it was as good as mine, so it must've been fantastic. I'm always drawn to the veal, and Cibo's Veal di Granchio is a creative compilation of classic Italian, presented with rissotto and crab meat, just to remind you you're on the Gulf. Dessert was two spoons and the Chocolate Volcano Cake. Yum! If we return to the Fort Myers area next Christmas, and we're planning on it, we'll definitely put Cibo on our restaurant rota once more.
