Came here for Father's Day breakfast. Food and coffee were good but nothing special. Our server was nice but not attentive; my husband never got a refill for his coffee. I had a coffee with the molletes and my wife had a coffee with the chilaquiles. The coffee was good not great but the food was delicious, especially the chorizo on the molletes. The only thing that kept me from giving it 5 stars was the place was very small and tight. We were sat literally next to the restroom door and our waitress forgot to take our order in so it took a while for us to get our food. Fully enjoyed this Cielito! When we visited we tried the chicken tinga tacos, toasted bunelo w/ chorizo , chilaquiles verde and arroz con leche . It was all good! The wait wasn't long at all and hostesses friendly. For service our waiter was friendly she did forget a few of our items but was quick to remediate. For beverages we had the green juice it was refreshing and just what you need in the Houston heat. Parking is hard to get if you go at a busy time as the parking lot next door is for the business across the street. But again worth it. I didn't give them five starts only cause some of the dishes we had we have had better versions but they are still worth a try. read more

Cielito Cafe was one of the most home-y places I have ever visited (literally, it's in a house)! From the hostess to the waitress, everyone was beyond nice and helpful. I absolutely loved this restaurant. It was quite the experience. I went in cautiously optimistic and it exceeded my expectations! I parked half a block away and as I walked up to the restaurant which looks like an unassuming house, I was hit by the aroma of potent Mexican ingredients. As I opened the door, I was greeted by a very friendly waitstaff who welcomed me into the cozy and pleasant dining area. I sat at a table in the corner near a window, where I could take in the whole experience. I was instantly transported to my days as a child sitting in my grandmother's cocina (kitchen), watching her cook and make tortillas. I knew this was going to be good. I wanted to try several things, so I ordered a variety of plates and thoroughly enjoyed watching the waiters eyes get wider every time I ordered another dish. Never one to disappoint in the shock department, I continued to order with the intention of eating everything. I started off with a water and a coffee. I drank the coffee black and let me tell you, that coffee was strong enough to knock my socks off, just the way I like it. I ordered an agua fresca with the melon and pepino flavors combined. This was so refreshing, I felt like going for a run after drinking it. I then ordered an appetizer of chicharrones. Hands down the best chicharrones I have had in Houston. They came out fresh and hot, still crackling and popping like rice crispies but oh so much more delicious! The seasoning was just right, and the combination of being a bit oily with a super crunch was perfect. Next I ordered a plate of chilaquiles. I ordered the verde (green) and rojo (red) mixed. I would have to say that although I liked both, the verde was the star of the show! The spiciness and heat of the sauce was flawlessly combined with the crispy yet tender chips. How do they do that? Combined with an over easy egg, crema and queso fresco and I was on cloud nine! I then dug into the Bandera. A three egg omelette with chorizo inside. The chorizo was cooked to perfection, not over or undercooked but magnificently cooked with the papas on the side. I felt like I was at home enjoying a homemade breakfast. Lastly, I sampled the cajeta toast. I don't even really ever order French toast but the mention of caramelized goat's milk and bacon piqued my curiosity. I was not disappointed. What an amazing combination. Definitely glad I ordered that. After the explosion of flavor I had just experienced, the vibe of feeling at home and the super friendly waitstaff. This place was amazing. Tucked into a residential neighborhood outside downtown, it was a pretty quick wait for our table right at prime brunch/lunch on a Tuesday. The staff were incredibly helpful and friendly, while being super efficient. We ordered the avocado toast with egg whites on top and then the chilaquiles with both red and green sauce. Small and cozy little cafe. It's crowded, no other way to put it. But it's very clean and stylish. It was a bit warm inside; they only one of the two minisplit ACs running. The food was delicious. We tried the chips and salsas - good stuff. Wish the containers of salsa were a bit bigger; almost too small to dip your chip into. Wife had the Tradicionale breakfast. She liked it alot, and the sausage was delicious. I had the Eggs Divorciado. Very good. Although my over easy eggs weren't cooked enough for my taste. If you don't like any runny egg white, better order over medium. Coffee too was very good. Just the regular coffee but it had a great flavor. Place: it's very cute and welcoming and the servers are super friendly and helpful. They provided small cups of watermelon or cucumbers juice while we waited outside. The parking on a Saturday is going to be only street parking not parking lot right next to it, that's only available on Sundays. Food: Very delicious nopalitos with eggs, but the beans portion & fruits is very small & disappointing even though there tasty. They only give you 3 slices of fruits. The salsa that comes with the chicharrones is phenomenal and compliments them so well The elote is decadent a great blend flavors as there is melted cheese in between each kernel created a depth in textures as well For the mains we got the Cielito sandwich the divorciados and avocado toast The Cielito sandwich was such a sweet and savory sandwich as a bacon egg and cheese is placed in between a soft baked concha bread which brings this sweetness to the meal The juegos divorciados were perfectly executed as you have a fried egg over a fried tortilla with one being covered in a red salsa and the other in a green salsa paired with chorizo it is just a filling breakfast The avocado toast was perhaps one of the best executed avocado toast I have had in a while with fresh avocado and some fresh cut sweet peppers it was the perfect balance The fresh juices were phenomenal to pair with the food and brought a refreshing taste to it all Wait times are a bit long but I would suggest to wait it is definitely worth it read more

I really really wanted to love this place. We've attempted to have brunch here several times but with the lack of parking and long wait times we hadn't been successful until today. I came on a Friday at 10am and circled around for parking several times until a street spot opened up. The weather was raining and terrible so I think that worked in our favor so we didn't have to wait. The place is a little small house turned into the cafe. The seating area is so small so everyone close can hear each other or you have to adjust seating to let people walk by. I will say the food was delicious and that's what saved the day. There's the standard chilaquiles, flautas, sopa, and a fun concha sandwich. The price was a little much for the portions being so small. Again cute quaint place worth visiting if the timing is right but for the rave, maybe not so worth it. Appreciate the idea and the food but not worth it to me. read more

Came here for brunch with 2 other friends around 11:30 AM. We were estimated a 30-45 minute wait, which was very accurate as people were filing in and out. I'd have to say it was worth the wait for sure! Starting off, our table got a side of chips and salsa. It was a great starter since we were starving after waiting in the sun for our table. I ordered the Verde, which was refreshing on a hot day. It wasn't too sweet. For my entree, I ordered the El Jardin French Toast with a side of potatoes. The french toast was delicious and plated beautifully. The side of potatoes were crispy and great to complement my sweet entree. I would recommend this local brunch spot! Cielito Café has been on my list to try for quite some time. I wish I had made it sooner! Parking.....oooooh, parking in Houston. This is one of those neighborhood gems that has very little parking. It's a nightmare, to be honest. Most of their parking lot that is directly adjacent to the buildingh is actually for The Guild Shop across the street. However, I was able to find a spot about a block and a half down the street. This is a popular spot! So, of course you're going to wait. I signed in with the cashier inside and was told that the wait would be about 35 minutes. My common sense should have known better going by the almost entire page of names ahead of mine. I was quite irritated by what looked like several groups getting seated even though they arrived after me. We ended up waiting about an hour. Helpful hint: I found out as we were paying that you can call when you are on your way and have your name put on the list. We tried the Cafe De Coco: (Non-dairy) coconut inspired coffee with organic coconut oil & coconut milk. While it wasn't 'sweet,' I usually add sugar to my coffee, bit it wasn't really necessary with this. And, the coconut flavor is just a hint. I would order it again. I had the chilaquiles verde - rojo is also an option. (Lightly fried chips cooked with your choice of green or red homemade sauces, drizzled with mexican cream, queso fresco, one egg, & avocado. Served with black beans & fruit.) So good! The green sauce was flavorful, slightly tabgy and had the slightest hint of spice. I wish I had gotten more refried beans and maybe one more aliver of avocado. I didn't get any fruit, but I didn't know that I was supposed to. This was one of those meals I had to run home and write a review for! It was that good! It's a great spot for a breakfast or lunch date. Parking sucks but it usually does in this area, no biggie. The inside was small and quaint considering it's a house turned restaurant. We showed up close to opening and were told to sit wherever we wanted in three small rooms. We chose to have some privacy and sat in the empty area off to the right. Our wait staff was super friendly and very helpful with the menu and helping us choose their favorites. I started off with the Carmelo which is a iced coffee with caramel galore. It looks nice and tastes even better. It even comes with a caramel lollipop! For the entrees I went with the Sopes with chorizo. She went with the Tostadas de Tinga. We joined forces and tried each other's dishes. Teamwork makes the dream work! I couldn't decide which dish I loved more. They were both so delicious. The protein on both was seasoned to perfection and there was plenty of it. The veggie garnishes on it were fresh and had a crisp to it to add some texture. Everything worked so well together. I was trying to figure out the next time we were coming back as I ate the current meal. This is a charming cafe with both traditional authentic Mexican dishes and a few creative twists on some dishes. Parking/Interior - 3* There is parking available adjacent to the establishment that is mostly for a business across the street, but is available on Sundays. There is parking on the street and around the area, but not a bad idea to plan ahead. The interior is quaint and charming. There is not a lot of tables so the wait for a table can be quite long (over an hour). Food/Drink - 5* We ordered some elote, flautas, and a bowl of menudo. For drinks, we ordered agua fresca and cafe de coco. All of it was great! The menudo was fantastic, plenty of tripe, and the flavoring was spicy. The flautas were definitely on point. Pricing - 4* It's not going to be on the level of some of the low key joints around town that serve up similar food with slightly bigger portions, but they deliver quality and presentation is definitely above average. The authentic vs. tex mex feel shines through here!! Overall, we thought the pricing was in line with what you'd expect, particularly for the area. Service - 5* Our waitress was great and very attentive. She was helpful in making some recommendations as well. It's quite impressive how well they all work in such a confined kitchen space. The food came out really quick once ordered. Overall - 5* This was tough. On one hand it's worth five stars once you are sat. On the other hand the long wait is detracting. They also lose a star for time to seat and bring out food. I've been several times and had to wait over an hour for a seat all times minus one when we went around 8am during the week which made sense. This is such a cute place for brunch. The food was delicious and the service was super quick and attentive. We ordered the sopes, chilaquiles verdes , and the French toast. The daily agua fresca was pepino and limón and it was amazing!! I would recommend everything we ordered. There was so many good options on the menu I'll definitely have to come back again. Tucked away in a neighborhood, Cielito is the perfect cafe for a weekend chill brunch. The tables are rather small and so is the place so I would say it's perfect for smaller groups and weekend can get a little busy after 11am. I had their divorciados eggs and they were delicious. This place feels like you're eating at your Tia's house on any given day. It's so cozy and welcoming and the staff is amazing. They're friendly, attentive and provide great service. Love the food here, full of flavor with unique offerings like cajeta french toast and a breakfast sandwich made out of a sweet concha. Sometimes the wait is long but it's absolutely worth the wait to try their delectable coco coffee or green juices. My kids love the pancake with a face and the sopes and chilaquiles are bomb too! The food is 5/5 but going there for brunch on a Sunday? Expect to wait about an hour. Even if they say the wait will be 20 minutes, it'll probably be an hour. Going on a weekday would probably be faster. It was just SO busy on Sunday that the service was also pretty slow. But busy means the place has great food, right? Absolutely!! I had a bowl of menudo and an appetizer that I can't find on the online menus. The appetizer was a sweet corn flour-based pancake with cheese and cream, with spicy salsa on the side. Both were delish!! The menudo was spicy and hearty, perfect for a hungry gal like me. I also annihilated the appetizer, which was full of flavor especially with the salsa. To cool down my mouth after the menudo I ordered the green juice (Verde), which was refreshing and sweet--felt healthy too! :p The atmosphere is very family-friendly and cozy--it looks like they repurposed a regular home and made it a restaurant!
