My favorite menudo spot in Riverside hands down so this review is solely for the menudo. Flavors on point and the handmade tortillas are so good. The salsa they give your for the menudo is literally fire so tread carefully. I always order to go, the ladies up front and taking your order are on it. Know what you want before you call in your order. The place is always busy so they don't have time to figure your order out on the phone with you they are managing the phones, packaging orders and waiting on ppl inside the restaurant. The food was terrific!!! I got the combo plate with relleno, enchilada, and taquitos. Everything was delicious. Especially the taquitos and beans. We were in the area when we found this gem, almost 50 miles from home and we will make the trip back just for this restaurant. Note: they also had a live band on Sunday. We are naturally ebullient about things dear to us. We pour both real and imagined value into things we love--people, things, sports teams--and would defend those loved ones with a broken bourbon bottle. Sometimes perhaps we cherish our ideal version of those persons or things rather than the actual reality. (Does that describe Shallow Hal?) On a stark pedestrian level, a molcajete is just bowl into which you can put anything. Weenies and canned beans will fit in there, at least physically. But for some reason, which I ascribe to fate blessed by providence, I have never had anything bad in a molcajete. Based on that alone, I am elevating the molcajete from mere object to valuable object of my affection. The molcajete at Cielito is a fine example of how this bowl is good at its nature. For starters, it's elevated above the table, suggesting a class above those surface dwelling other things on the table. It's not snooty if you earned it. Next the assembly. For this meal, Cielito mixed chorizo and beans to make a salty, meaty, porky, soupy base, the steam from which influences everything above it. Then comes carne, shrimp, grilled cheese, oh and other things that seems to quickly disappear at the end of my fork. My streak of great molcajete meals is unbroken. Ebullience preserved. read more

They bring you chips and salsa first salsa was sooo good and spicy, I got the molcajete mixta, tostada suprema shrimp cooked in lemon juice, Michelada was bomb! Molcajete had a little bit of meat with no flavor and it also had a total 4 shrimps It was mostly beans. The menu online says it's $29 when we got there it was $49. Our party of 8 was very satisfied. It was quiet at the table. A sign everyone was enjoying their food! The waitress was attentive and cheerful. All the staff were. Casanova I have to tell you, I'm always a little excited not being from SoCal to visit the more ethnic side of town--and Cielito Lindo is certainly located there. Upon entry you seat yourself and are normally greeted by a very pleasant waitress. Be prepared to use your Spanish, because that's the lead language in this place. Water, chips and salsa arrived very quickly. The salsa was wonderful not too spicy and extremely flavorful and of course the chips freshly fried perfection. Everything was headed in the right direction up until I ordered my fajitas. I went with the beef fajitas which came out in a timely fashion--sizzling and steaming. The flavor was just mediocre and sadly I wasn't too impressed. I have had the enchiladas in this place which were tasty, zingy and lightly sweet and that's what I should've gone with again. LEGIT Mexican food & CHEAP drinks! What more could anyone ask for?! My favorite item is their tostadas which are slathered with beans topped with your choice of meat, lettuce, salsa, guacamole, and sour cream. Soo good. Their meat is delicious and cooked well. I loved their carnitas. The boyfriend enjoys their sopes and said that their shrimp cocktail is pretty good. If you don't want to get an entree, you can get a mix of individual items for a very cheap price. The sopes and tostadas are only $3.50 each! Enchiladas are even cheaper. And drinks are really cheap - it's like happy hour every hour here! I believe the margaritas are only $4.75. They don't skimp on the tequila either and they come in really cute colorful glasses. What more could a girl ask for?! They also serve micheladas for around six dollars. If I lived around here, I would definitely be a regular. I always appreciate a place with good margaritas! You might want to come with someone who speaks Spanish though because most of the waitresses don't speak English well. read more

My husband and I have been going to this restaurant since we moved to Riverside 10 years ago. The food is fantastic. My husband's favorite dish is the Chilaquiles a la Michoacana and I love the Enchiladas Mexicanas with chicken....delicious. They have the best caldos; excellent to cure a hangover! In the past, the owners accommodated a catering order of the Fajitas Mixtas (mixed chicken, beef and shrimp) for a birthday party and on another occasion, they accommodated a big order of Menudo "to go" for the day after a huge party. The handmade corn tortillas are super delicious. We've never tried the flour tortillas. The service has always been great. We're usually taken care of by the same waitress! We have gotten to know the owners, who are very friendly and down to earth people. They always greet us with a warm welcome. One of our go to restaurants for authentic Mexican food. My husband loves the caldo de birria, they serve it with beef meat or goat meat. I usually get the shrimp plates they are very good, we have tried the molcajete it is also good. Service is ok depending on what day you go and how packed it gets because on the weekends it is very busy, on Sunday's they have live/ bandas playing. The restaurant is decent looking on the inside but it's not that spacious, so if you don't mind sharing a table with others then you should definitely check this place out. read more
