I've been back several times since then but shame on me for not updating my review. I do really love this hole in the wall restaurant tucked inside the food court in the Fashion District of Dtla. No matter how many times you drop by, you'll never run out of options because of the various tasty, delicious items offered here. From tacos to flautas, burritos to quesadillas, sopes to fries, and anything in between. Cilantro Lime offers the most affordable, authentic Mexican treats in this side of town. They keep on adding more and more items on the menu to prove how innovative this place continually is. Have you even heard of pambazo? Neither did I until I was served with this humongous wet sandwich packed with meat. That menudo which is offered only every Saturday? At ya yay! It's so good that I could probably eat a whole pot. Wow! What a discovery! This place is the bomb dot com! A couple of hungry friends and I descended like hungry vultures and left like docile doves after devouring several of Leo's Mexican homestyle creations. So many things to love...Leo's huge smile and obvious pride in his offerings, his friendly staff, his passion fruit aguafresca and, of course, the food! We ordered the menudo, $9.00 and on Saturdays only, chilaquiles, $8.99, taquitos, $9.99 and the esquite fries, $11.25. We loved it all! Leo, in a nod to childhood antics, puts Hot Cheetos on almost anything and it's a fun menu to share with friends. The traditional Mexican style platters are a wonderful touch. I'm a huge chilaquiles fan and this was right up there with the best I've had in Mexico. Delicious! Cilantro Lime is definitely a hidden gem that I'm sure more and more people are bound to discover. Located in DTLA off Broadway and Olympic in the International Food Court, Cilantro Lime is in a corner spot with one of the smaller kitchens. It was an absolutely great & innovative Mexican cuisine I've ever seen & tasted. Leo is the owner of this family run business. Leo OPEN ONE IN THE OC!!!!! Leo uses simple ingredients, but it's how they are used in combination creating some amazing dishes. The street taco type cuisine presentation is well done, placed on homemade clay pottery plates with some on a layer of salad or fries. Menudo on Saturdays only so we had a chance to try it. The tripe was soooo soft which is hard to do unless it's cooked for a long time. Not spicy so if you like it hot, add it or ask for the "crybaby"!!!! Quesadillas with hot Cheetos was different but a definite favorite. One set of street tacos used cheese as the shell. Leo said it was an accident discovery, haha, loved it. My favorite was the chicken fluentas. The flour tortilla was flaky and light yet held together without exploding in my hand. The fries topped with carne asada was a hit!!! Melted cheese all around topped with protein and guacamole. The chips are definitely made during the day. The green sauce is the hottest, but if you want 10/10 hot? Ask for the Crybaby. Hello Downtown LA carne asada fries! The meat is cooked to perfection and the toppings on top of the fries are just delicious. The cheese is melty goodness. The staff will also customize it for you. I added ketchup and ranch to the fries, and they poured it on top like a sauce. It was so good! The location is a food hall in downtown LA, just like anywhere else in DTLA, it is difficult to find parking. But it is worth the meter searching. The fries are hot and can be served to dine in or take out. The other menu options in the restaurant also look so good, but one order of anything from this place will fill you up and you might even have leftovers to take home. I ordered the wet burrito with carne asada that comes with half red and half green sauce. They have a mild spice level but, for that extra kick, it is topped with a jalapeño. I had the pleasure of ordering the following: Taquito Special: 5/5 - This order came with a total of 6 barb/Tinga taquitos on a bed of lettuce topped with queso fresco, cilantro, sour cream, and guacamole sauce. It was delicious! Each taquito was deep fried and rolled to perfection! Such a crispy crunch on the outside and nice juicy barb/tinga on the inside. It paired really well with the green sauce on the side! Volcano Tostada: 5/5 - By far the best tostada I have ever been served! It came with 2 corn tostadas with bean and cheese in the middle then it was topped with crispy cheese, choice of meat (I chose pollo and tinga), guacamole sauce, sour cream, Chipotle aioli, and pico de Gallo. When you arrive, look for the address (not the name) as it will take you to a food court area where you'll find this place. I also suggest you place an order for pickup on their website since parking can get tricky depending on when you go. We ordered the Mexican pizza full of birria, the tinga chicken flautas with chile rellenos, and a torta. We LOVED the flautas the most and wish we got more because they are full of flavor and kept their crunch even from the ride home. Everything was tasty and still delicious as leftovers. I'm vegetarian and the food the have is very vegetarian friendly. They have fake meats like soyrizo and other vegetable-based vegan options, and their dishes can be customized to support different meats. I really liked the volcano tostado and the Memela tacos, with soyrizo. I've also had their quesadilla with soyrizon and it was great. If there's one piece of feedback I would give, it's that the online ordering system doesn't seem to allow for as much customization for other meat options. For example, I think the DTLA fries only allow a single meat option (carne asada?) but some reviewers have indicated that they had different meats, which may mean that this is customizable in person or over the phone but not on the online ordering page. read more

It was the perfect amount of food for 3 people. The asada and barbacoa was cooked very well and had great seasoning. It was the first time I've tried a cheese taco and it was eh, okay but my brother seemed to think it was the best thing he had out of the food we ordered. I just wish they had better salsa. All the food I got here was so good, I almost cried and would not mind coming back to get the same things and more. Starting with the beautiful looking Chicken TINGA FLAUTAS, I have never eaten something so decadently delicious before with the flour tortilla, cheddar cheese, tinga (rolled, fried, cut in 4), topped with sour cream, pico de Gallo and chipotle aioli on a bed of lettuce. Next, I got the BIRRIA GRILLED CHEESE that was highly recommended by my friend and it was seriously fire. Hope y'all see the pics I took of that cheese pull and dripping goodness here! The food here is amazing! We had the Famous Tinga Flautas, Al Pastor Malitas, Birria Tacos Dorados, Letsgogrub Taco, and Horchata! The food tastes just like how it looks, delicious. The owner Leo and his staff were extremely nice, so customer service here is an A+. We came here with the expectation of having a very heavy meal; however, we were pleasantly surprised to find out that the food here was not that greasy and did not make us bloat after. The Famous Tinga Flautas is a flour tortilla that is stuffed with shredded chicken and cheddar cheese. They are then rolled, deep-fried, and cut into 4 portions. Afterward, they are topped with sour cream, pico de gallo, chipotle aioli, and served on a bed of shredded lettuce. The tortilla was extremely crispy, and the chicken was surprisingly moist even when deep-fried. The Al Pastor Malitas was kind of like a taco sandwich in a sense. It is al pastor sandwiched in crispy grilled tortillas layered in crispy cheese. The al pastor was perfectly marinated, tender, and the crispy cheese and tortillas made every bite flavorful. The Birria Tacos Dorados contain extremely tender goat/beef meat that is simmered in a blend of chiles, spices, and beef stew. It is served with onions, cilantro, and consome (a broth you use to dip the tacos in). Honestly, the Birria Tacos here were the best we have had and would 100% come here again just for them. The Letsgogrub Tacos is a cheese-shelled taco with your choice of meat, pico de gallo, and guacamole. These tacos are served with your choice of salsa and a side of chips. We chose Asada, and it was tender, juicy, flavorful, and not to mention cheesy. The cheese shell makes a huge difference in the taco's flavor profile, we highly recommend this item!
