I figured since I may never come back because I'm not from LA, so I ordered that as well. You know the food is authentic when it tastes like your mom's cooking. I started with the rice and knew that I made the right choice. The homemade tortilla chips were flavorful and crunchy. The cheese shell taco did not disappoint either. The men who run the place are funny and very respectful. It is a food court, so you seat yourself, but the food is brought to your table if you eat in. The dining area was clean. Although I ordered a pork belly quesadilla, half of the protein was actually made up of carne asada. Both proteins were a bit dry. In addition, the tortilla wasn't cooked long enough (still pale and a bit soggy). The crisp wasn't there. The owner also posted a pic where the quesadilla was served with guac and salsa. In reality, it was only served with sour cream and green sauce. Quesadilla without all the fixings? The dish felt incomplete. My husband on the other hand really loved his mom's special enchiladas. He sampled their al pastor, chicken, and carne asada in half green half red sauce. He enjoyed every bite and ate every drop. He thought the rice and beans could be a bit more flavorful (the beans were a bit watery). But overall very tasty! We also tried their strawberry horchata. Didn't taste too much of the strawberry but thought it was a nice balance/contrast. Perfectly sweetened and def worth a try! I was very skeptical about this place based off the fact that it was in fashion district but to my surprise, it was realllyyyy good and UNIQUE! Cooking with hot Cheetos can be a hit or miss but I feel like it added a unique flavor to the quesadillas. I've never had a tinga fluenta and i absolutely loved it!! I also am not a huge fan of French fries most of the time unless they're super super good and this was one of the places that I must say, the fries were amazing! I don't know what kind of sorry excuse this is for food but with all of the stellar reviews I was expecting much more. There was hardly anything in my hard taco (top taco on first photo). As you can see from my photos there were no onions/cilantro anywhere. The meat was dry, stale and cold. The tortillas I'm pretty sure were not cooked because I could barely bite into them. Oh and they put the rice and beans together so I didn't even get the full portion that comes in a taco plate. I hate wasting food but I couldn't even finish this.
