Unfortunately, the experience went downhill from there. When my sandwich came out, the meat was horrible--it tasted like old, frozen meat. I took one bite and immediately told our waitress something was wrong with it. I even told her she was welcome to try the untouched half because you could clearly see I hadn't eaten it. I asked if I could just keep the fries. She took the sandwich back, and after speaking with the owner, returned with my fries and apologized. My husband's and daughter's food was fine, and the carrot cake was good as well. Then the check came, and I was shocked to see that I had been charged $6 for the tiny plate of fries that came back after I returned an inedible sandwich. I paid the bill and still left our waitress an 18% tip because I completely understood that none of this was her fault. On my way out, I told her exactly that, but also said charging $6 for those fries after sending back a meal because the food was bad was simply not cool. She explained that it wasn't her decision. So, to the owner: I hope the $6 fries were worth losing a customer. Overall, the food was fine--nothing particularly special or memorable. What I will remember is an owner choosing to charge $6 for a small plate of fries rather than taking care of a first-time customer whose meal had to be sent back.
