A great local deli in Springfield which offers you cold dishes and hot dishes mostly Italian, I was very pleased with their service and everyone was friendly, there is seating inside more like a bar a few chairs by the pizza stand but it seemed more like a pick up and go, I ended up enjoying the outdoor dining since the weather was great, recommend their subs, ordered the tuna and mozz and coming from Hoboken where we make the mozz fresh and bread it was delish! Had lunch here today - the food (chicken salad sandwich) was fine but I was annoyed about the service. Waited for 5 minutes at the counter to order - finally the woman at the register motioned me over to order there. While I was ordering with her, the 2 guys behind me were immediately taken care of by the counter guys. Then I was waiting outside for my sandwich. The counter guy came out with my order and the orders for the guys who had been behind me. Gives them a pile of napkins and didn't give me any!!! I said excuse me, may I have napkins too?? He went inside and got napkins for me - and then hung out socializing with the 2 guys (who were obviously regulars). Maybe I was treated poorly because I'm a woman? Who knows. We've been a loyal family customer here for years and always enjoyed the quality and consistency of the food. Recently I called in for a chicken parm sandwich and a Cioffi special- cutlet with broccoli rabe and provolone. Both rolls were stale. The parm roll was different than the special, (why?) These are both signature sandwiches I've eaten before. The chicken was dry and made up of a bunch of random pieces. Hardly any sauce and barely melted mozzarella. The special was on a baguette- hard as a rock and dry as can be. Disappointing for a go-to place getting content. What's going on? Maybe time to find another spot. read more

I rarely give five stars... But this place and the way I got served very friendly and their pizza, especially if you ask for a thin crossed special. It's out of this world. Once in awhile you come across a business owner who takes enormous pride in their products, and makes them as though they are making it for their own family. I called Cioffi's and got Jerry the owner, who helped make my friend's birthday extra special by honoring my request for a heart-shaped pizza to be delivered to his house on his birthday. Jerry was in on it from the moment I explained what I wanted, as excited and joyful about the surprise as I hoped our friend would be! He was excited about our idea, excited for my friend, and excited to play his part in the whole thing. He even sent me texts as he was preparing it and just before he gave it to the delivery guy. Good food. Pricey though. I used to go here when I lived in Springfield to get cannoli. I got that and some stuffed shells and a personal pizza today. I'd wanted 2 slices of white but the guy I ordered with said they were out of the white slices but if I got a personal pizza, it would be like having 2 and a half regular sized slices so I said sure. A different guy rang me before my food was ready, and it was like $13.25 for the personal pizza. It said white cheese-sm on the screen so I double checked with him that he rang the personal that was described as just 2 and a half slices big. He said yes so ok..I continued to wait on the food and looked at the sign and it said $7.25 for a 9 inch personal pizza so I tell the guy that had made my pie (different than who rang me or who took the order) that it says $7.25 for personal but I was charged $13.25. He said yeah because the $7.25 is if it was regular. So I got charged $6 more to make a personal pie white. ‍I don't mind paying a surcharge but it has to make sense. For that price, you can get a large white pie give or take a couple dollars in several places. It's just how it is with inflation these days I suppose. read more

I found this place on my lunch break it is a hidden gem. They have everything. I mean everything. They have all types of salads pasta's, pizza, hamburger cheeseburger french fries. You name it. It's nice it's cozy fairly clean. A pleasure to visit here the salad I had was a kale salad with grilled chicken. I also had fruit salad. And a diet cream soda. The service was great. This place is average if that but what kills it is the price. I asked "what exactly are the prices?" I was amazed. The guy was making prices as they went, when I approached the register he's telling her prices to charge me. This is what you'd expect at a cheap deli, shouldn't be making up prices. Today Cioffi's delicious food lost a couple of customers. Multiple times we have had issues with the food, getting the wrong order, or the price and then things have to be corrected. Today, for the last time, not only they screwed my order, but the cashier, the older Latino guy, was excessively rude, to the point that, while the manager was apologizing, he told me in Spanish "ya párale", which means "stop". I will take my business to other establishment where employees are a bit more professional and friendlier. read more

But I can't for the life of me figure out why I just paid $14.00 for a white slice, a grandma slice, and an Arizona iced tea (a bottle smaller than the "99 cent can". The drink was $3.50 according to the Yelp menu, but there are no prices listed for pizza by the slice. So I paid $10 for 2 (small-average sized) slices? Not worth it when there are plenty of pizzerias with as-good food and better prices. I was very dissatisfied with my experienced as a first time customer. As I would love to support a local businesses but the quality and the price also matters. This store is very pricey and the quality of taste isn't good as I compare it in Manhattan, NY, Agata & Valentina. I bought a seafood salad, just squid and shrimp on it. It's difficult to chew the squid as it's very tough and 6 slices of small shrimp that cost $16. I also had a tuna salad for my husband but it was a minced tuna for a small container also that cost $8. The 3 plum tomatoes is close to $4. This is my favorite pizza and deli place by far to come to. From the minute I walked in I couldn't decide whether i wanted pizza, hot sandwich, entree or just a bowl of comforting soup .Everything looks and smells so good it was hard to make a choice. Cioffi's make all kinds of interesting pizzas from the standard cheese and pepperoni, or Sicilian to my favorites the vegetable with tomato, onion,mushroom, eggplant with pesto. There is a wide assortment of ( not on the menu but please request the buffalo chicken!)They make amazing deli sandwiches freshly prepared to order any way your heart desires. Don't get me started on the hot subs! They also make all kinds of wonderful salads, and delicious rice balls. Their cold seafood salad with calamari, shrimp, fennel and veggies is outstanding.Their macaroni salad is addicting! Its gotta be the parm cheese they add to it. There is some seating inside, and some tables outsides too. They have free parking and they do great catering for office or parties. The owner Jerry Cioffi is a doll. Good quality Italian deli. They have quite a nice variety of hot and cold prepared food-the arancini, both meat and cheese stuffed, always hit the spot. Yes, 'pasta fazool' is always on the soup menu. Not many places will cook you up a pepper and egg sandwich, and they make a terrific one. The pizza is ordinary, though. This is an above average Pizzeria and decent deli. I usually come here for lunch when I feel I can have a cheat day and get a pizza or Italian sub. I usually order a whole size sub and have half for lunch and take the other half for dinner. There's also a hot counter for the meatballs, parms, and baked zitis. There's not that much seating inside but there's 5 square tables outside to dine outside. The owner is very cool and friendly. I like him because he likes Rutgers Football more than me. Beyond disappointing. My coworker went to pick up a pie and stix for lunch. I look at the box and it says cioffis in springfield. How upsetting. She went to the wrong one. Ive never been to this one, and after this experience ill never ever go back. My spot is cioffis in union. I cant even describe how terrible this was. The pie was 8 old slices put together and warmed up. The stix? Absolutely disgusting and HOLLOW. They looked terrible i didnt even eat them after one bite.. they didnt have any cheese in them!! Stopped in after a particularly late night at work to pick up a prepared meal to take home for dinner. While they had a lot of selections in the steam trays, most were a variation of "red sauce, cheese, broiled in the oven" (eggplant parm, chicken parm, baked ziti, etc). Fair enough but I don't think I will be going back for more. We have also had take out pizza from Cioffi's. Once. Still looking for a good pie.
