I came here with a few co-workers for dinner tonight after work (it's close enough to work to make it in a decent amount of time with the Roswell Rd traffic). The four of us were seated promptly with no wait, and we were quickly brought our drink orders. I ended up getting a bento box dinner and a seaweed salad, with mango ice cream for dessert. The meal was filling and fresh, and our waitress brought our bill out as separate checks without us having to ask. I also ended up ordering a donburi (pork) for the bf to go (it was still tasty when I got home). Another thing to note - there is no awning with a sign, look for the black glass and tiny red 'circle sushi' sign on the door only. I had dinner on a Friday night here and I was really surprised by how it gets busy. I arrived around 7pm and must have gotten one of a few small tables before they were full. By the time I left, there were many people standing and waiting. Maybe I had high expectations, but it did take a while to get our orders. That's probably due to the amount of people in the restaurant. There's an impressive list of rolls available, but I ordered the small sashimi assortment which has 12 cuts of fish for about $20. The fish was fresh, but it did leave me wanting more despite the salad that comes with it. You can also get soup instead. The only thing that I thought was more "special" about this place was the green tea they serve. Their green tea does have a more burnt/barley taste which I like. Unfortunately, it's not complimentary, but still good to have on a chilly night. As many people have pointed out, it's hard to find this place as there's still no building sign. If you're facing the Publix shopping center, Circle Sushi is in the small non-connected building to the left of Publix, behind the Arby's. 3 stars is all you get circle sushi-- the service was not good at all. We walked in as a party of four and stood in the waiting area for nearly 15 minutes before we were helped. The host/esses were back and forth and arguing to each other about tables and we were just standing there very confused. They were busy, but not too busy to ignore the most important part of running a business... Customer service!!! We were finally seated and our server was extremely nice and attentive, but the first part of the experience was awful! As far as the sushi, it's very fresh and tastes great. I've had better, but I've also had worse. The only reason I'm not giving this place a 1 star is because our server was great once we were actually seated & the fish is very fresh here. The Background: Located in a strip mall off of Ansley and Roswell, the place can be a little bit difficult to find if you don't know what you're looking for. Although it's located in a strip mall, the interior decor is quite nice. The Positives: This place probably has the best sushi in Atlanta and at very reasonable prices. In addition, the teriyaki here is fantastic. My personal favorite item is the tuna and avocado salad which is just amazing. The Negatives: While this is among the best sushi restaurants in Atlanta, the bar is relatively low. Went here, for the first time, with a group of friends. The place was not easy to find since they have no neon sign like other businesses in the shopping plaza (with a Publix and a McDonalds) they are located in. The sushi rolls here are top notch. As is the nigiri. The Japanese cuisine here is as good as any place you'll find in the ATL. Better than most actually. Salad before sushi is merely so-so; but that is okay since you are really here for the sushi anyway. Warm house saki is great. Hot tea pretty damn good too. What happened??!!!?? This place used to be so good at a reasonable price. But, the last few times, it's become not so good at not so reasonable prices. Why? Because your chirashi is now expensive given the fish you serve. Whether you order (A) or (B) you will now be getting fish that is cut about half the size it was in years past. That is such a disappointment. I'd much rather you raise your menu prices a bit than reduce the cut quality. And, it also appears you now serve two types of uni; one quality for a la carte and an inferior quality for chirashi. Why? Ouch!! Then for the shrimp/veggie tempura - BEFORE you used to serve 2 whole pieces of asparagus but NOW you serve just 1 piece of asparagus and slice that in half to pawn off as 2 "whole" pieces. What is going on?? Let me add that the servers this afternoon were subpar. What happened here? We had two waitresses who took care of our table instead of the usual one per table...confusion? Either way, both waitresses were not cordial and were in fact rude. You're restaurant was only half full, i.e., not busy, but both waitresses failed to stop by after serving the dishes and never came back to refill drinks. Sad state of affairs for the prices you charge. I will no longer be as frequent a customer and will definitely be seeking other establishments to take your place in the rotation. Was in the area for lunch, but so good its even worth the drive from the city for dinner the next night. The owner gets some of the fish flown in from that famous market in Japan, and you see tables occupied by a majority of ex-pats, thats a good sign. Lunch menu had a good bento box, I had the Salmon, sushi, and the tempura was a stand out, especially the light dipping sauce. Looks like you can order off the regular menu too. The next evening we had dinner, an amazing black cod app. that was buttery and crisp on the edges. really flavorful and rich, like Chilean seabass. It's sign is nearly invisible. It's between a horrid Chinese place and a dry cleaner. Aladdins is a couple doors down... It's EASY to miss. BUT DON'T. The sushi is brilliant. Seriously overpriced. I should've known since this place is fusion. I'm giving this place one star for the decent quality of the fish, given that we're in Atlanta. The tiny chirashi bowl with 10% fish and 90% rice is definitely not worth $24. I really thought it was a joke when they first brought out this chirashi. And what was that flavorless tuna mush? Was it suppose to be spicy tuna or something? Major fail. The "large" omakase bento box isn't worth $32 either. I guess our server did warn us that the portions were generally small at the restaurant. Try extremely small and overpriced. I'm really curious to see what the standards are in receiving a "Best of Atlanta" award. And why don't they have a sign above their restaurant? Good sushi and very nice atmosphere, but I wouldn't call it the "best sushi in town" (unless you maybe mean only in Sandy Springs?). I met an old family friend I hadn't seen in years here for dinner, and it was a great spot to sit and catch up (also would be great for a date night). She mentioned she works nearby and comes in all the time for the lunch specials. We split the tuna and avocado salad to start with, and THAT was absolutely delicious! Loved the seaweed salad in the mix, and the sesame dressing was perfect with it. Then we shared some rolls: - Crunchy Munch - a fave at the table - Volcano - sauce was delish, cooked fish inside was NOT, neither of us liked the flavor or texture of it at all - Pink Lady - I'm not a fan of salmon in my sushi, but this was still tasty - We had one more roll (Green something), but I'm not seeing it on the menu, I think it was a spicy tuna mix, which was also very good Dessert included the banana tempura, and that was good too (but I've had better). The sushi definitely seemed fresh and was prepared nicely, but it was by no means the best I've ever had. The menu also included a lot of other nigri options, etc. but the rolls weren't really that unique compared to other places I've been to. It tasted fine but the creativity and over-the-top "wowness" factor wasn't there for me on the rolls. Atmosphere was awesome though, I'd give that 5 stars (and great service). It I go back I'll probably request some special rolls, because the sushi chefs appear genuine and probably aren't afraid to go a little crazy for you! This truly is a hidden gem in Sandy Springs! Their sushi rolls seemed small but were surprisingly filling. I had roll combination dinner, which included California roll, spider roll, and spicy tuna roll. All were very good. We also tried their salmon don. It was salmon sashimi pieces (a lot of them!) served over sushi rice flavored with a soy-sauce based seasoning and bits of raw salmon. They were quite generous with the salmon. It was very fresh and the salmon tasted nice and fatty. The kids shared a bowl of soup udon with fish cakes and spinach. It was simple and they loved it. I'm not sure where they get their udon, but it was nice and chewy. I would definitely return if I was in the area again. read more

For the Sandy Springs area, this will be some of the best sushi you will find. It is in such a barren shopping center which Sandy Springs seems to be full of. The signage is almost non-existent so look for the center on the right (if heading north on Roswell Rd) with a Publix, Starbucks and Arby's on the corner. It will look dark and closed as well. It's not. I've only been for lunch and they have some pretty good lunch specials. Bento boxes give you plenty of options and you'll find the standard rolls to choose from as well. Lunch specials come with your choice of miso soup or salad as well. For a basic salad, it's better than most. Lunch service can get busy if you're dining in, hence, service being spotty and slow at times. It seems as if 3-4 people are running around doing everything - cashing people out, taking phone orders, seating people, taking orders, etc. A bit chaotic. Don't go during the prime lunch rush. read more

Food was ok to good. Really depends on what you get (if you are going to go here then get sushi, because the cooked dishes I tried left quite a bit to be desired. The sushi however was very fresh). Personally I think Circle Sushi is overpriced for what you get. My Salmon donburri was good an I would get it again if someone else was paying. I genuinely believe that quality is far more important than quantity however I just feel like I didn't quite get enough of either. Let's start out by saying, this is the best Japanese restaurant anyone can find in the Atlanta area. Best in price for quality, quality alone, service, and options. This place will not let you down, and is by far better than any other sushi or Japanese places. When the restaurant first started, it did not have any signs or advertisement. Based on my observation, I believe the owner or the chef wanted people to find out about the restaurant based on its quality and taste alone. All it had was a red circle. Later on, it added an ugly yellow "sushi" sign on the top. I heard it was because the plaza owner demanded the restaurant add a sign to the restaurant, and rebel against the property ownership, they put the most off style sign at the top. Anyway, I digress. So, when you are here, you must try all. However, it may take sometime to do so, therefore, I recommend these dishes. First, Chirashi Don. You must get this if you are an avid sushi/sashimi person. The fish, which this restaurant obtains, are from all over the world, specifically Japan or the Pacific Coast. The quality, freshness, and quantity are just best in its class. The price has gone up slightly, but it is still worth $30 to sample all the ingredients such as tuna, hamachi, uni, salmon, roe, bbq eel, etc. This dish does not disappoint at all. It's enough to fill you up as well. The rice is very important too. Circle Sushi knows rice, and many people forget, the quality of the rice is very important in any sushi rolls, nigiri, etc. If this is your first time, Chirashi Don should be your first choice to sample what the restaurant can offer. Second, if you are a little hesitant about raw fish, the restaurant offers bento boxes with 3 or 4 choices. This may include your typical teriyaki dishes, fried tempura shrimp/veggie, gyoza, sushi rolls, sashimi, etc. It's a great choice for someone who wants something different. Many Americans opt for the bento box to try the "safer" Japanese food for them. The bento option will fill you up as well. The other dish, which is not raw fish, I recommend is Circle Sushi's udon. The udon is deep in flavor. Many other restaurants have shallow broths, but Circle Sushi's udon is flavorful, light, and deep. You have to taste, in order to appreciate the broth. The noodles are well made and robust. The other ingredients, depending the type of udon, are very well put together, and compliments the overall bowl. The seafood udon does not disappoint at all. The fried tempura is served on the side, and it is packed with some veggies and seafood. It's the just the right amount of seafood, where it doesn't overcast other ingredients. The udon is very well balanced. I definitely recommend this if you are not in the mood for raw fish. My favor appetizer is the agedashi tofu. You just can't go wrong with this appetizer. The starch is just the right amount and balanced well with the tofu. Another solid appetizer is the fried soft shell crab. Just try it... it's soooo good. I can go on forever about the rolls they have as well. These pieces are one bit size pieces. Traditional Japanese sushi rolls can't be so big that it takes multiple bites or tough to fit all in your mouth. These are made perfectly in size and quality. You take each bite with ease, and each piece, whichever you order, will be delicate, simple, but powerful. Lastly, if you are an experienced in Japanese food, I recommend the chef's omakase. I know there are some priced points suggested in the menu, but I recommend a safe price of $75 to get the best fish and experience. Circle Sushi's uni is just out of this world. I don't know who the supplier is, but I know it's from Japan. This uni is like butter in your mouth, which melts instantly. Yes, some uni's have very fishy or iodine flavor, but Circle Sushi's is so fresh and great in its quality that you don't taste that and barely at most. It's just amazing. You have to try it if you are getting the omakase. Yes, you can order it separately as well. Circle Sushi's toro is amazinggggg. It looks like awesome rare steak piece from a fancy steak house. You can visibly see the fattiness, and when you place it in your mouth, the fish will melt. The fat of the fish will start spreading around your tongue, and you can instantly taste the richness of the fish. It's the real deal. There are so many other great sashimi with omakase, and I can go on and on about it. However, this review is getting long! So, go there and try it! We came here with a group of 13. I guess I should've expected long waiting time for food. But it took so long it was a little ridiculous. I think they only had 3 sushi chefs, and granted everyone ordered either sushi or sashimi, I should be a little more lenient. But I felt like they wanted to serve all the small tables first before they did our order. I say because when we got there the placed was pretty packed. A good amount of people waited at the door. By the time we got our food, 75% of the crowd was gone. Server was nice, he kept apologizing for the wait. And informed us that the sushi chefs gave us extra portions in our meals due to the wait. I had an order of the white tuna, and I got an extra slice. I also ordered the white submarine roll (a little on the small side with this one), shrimp tempura, and pumpkin tempura. The roll was pretty basic, the tempura was good (good price too), the sashimi was pretty fresh. Everything was reasonably priced. But that wait was seriously too long. My wife and I kept circling around the Kroger shopping center like a pair of hungry vultures before finally finding this place. How come there's no sign? Service was fairly slow. It took almost 30 minutes to get our food. Most of what we ordered was raw so no cooking involved. Why did it take so long? Don't know. Their sushi was prett good. Really enjoyed it. If it was $8 cheaper and had 2 more pieces, I'd eat it everyday. You pay a lot but still come home hungry. Didn't care for the atmosphere.. a little too Asian fusion-ish. A great traditional Japanese restaurant for either a date or with the whole family. Can be casual to slightly formal. Sashimi is fresh. But the main reason that keeps us coming back is the rolls. Their bite-size sushi rolls sticks together and does not fall apart when you grab it with chopstick from the plate to dipping saucer to your mouth. So all ingredient just mix nicely and melt in my mouth in one single bite. I am not talking about a bite where I have to open my mouth widely like eating a burger. The portion of each ingredient in the roll is also just right. This makes the joint taste just perfect. I usually have these rolls - caterpillar roll, spicy tuna, butterfly, spicy tuna, rainbow. They are all great! Nigiri is also good. Grill Hamachi Kama is tasty. Kids usually have udon and the soup flavor is thick and just right. read more

They're a great deal and let you sample many things they serve, and they're all delicious!
