I had Citizens Pops at the annual Food Truck Rodeo in Downtown Raleigh, NC, and it was amazing. There were so many people walking around with the popsicles it sparked me to want one. The server was really nice and knowledgeable I couldn't decide which popsicle I wanted and she help me choose. She said that the pineapple was popular but she liked the lime mint and that's what I went with because it sounded extremely refreshing. The popsicle was soooo delicious. It was refreshing and just enough of mint and just enough of lime. The popsicle was so good that we went back and got a second one this time the strawberry + cream and that one was just as good. My husband and I wondered if we could buy them from a store. Overall great popsicles, refreshing and perfect for a hot day. read more

Tried for the first time today after being told that I MUST try bubble tea. Upon entering I was immediately greeted and asked if it was my first time there. It was, so I was given a tour of the shop and was explained on how the "system" worked. I decided to order the Mango flavor bubble tea, as bubble tea was my intention for the visit. Though I was very tempted by all the yummy yogurt options, so I think a return visit will be very soon!!! They had some wonderful fresh flavors of yogurt and even some odd ones that still looked tasty, like Taro. Huge and I mean HUGE selection of toppings! Anything from candies to chocolates to nuts to granola. A bar full of fresh fruits that all looked perfectly ripe and fresh. And then another section where you could add syrups and powders to your yogurt. My bubble tea was made to order, I would have loved to have seen them make it in front of me just to see the process. They make it in a back room instead. They had several flavors to choose from such as Mango, strawberry, coffee, green tea, taro and several others that I can't remember. They also make bubble tea smoothies, but they suggested I try the original for my first time. As for the bubble tea, yumm!! It's sweet and creamy and cold! Not too sweet, you can tell its just sweet from the fruit. I would have liked it to be a touch colder but maybe the smoothie style would satisfy that for me. The tapioca balls at the bottom make for an eye catching drink. They don't have much of a flavor but are fun to chew slightly and swallow. I also wanted to add how NICE the staff was!! So welcoming and lots of smiles!! I loved that! The store was spotless! Everything clean and fresh looking. Not a drop of sticky anywhere!!!! We have traveled the east coast trying different FroYo's along the way. We feel like this is one of the best ones! The yogurt is creamy and the flavors are diverse. They have over 50 toppings, including fresh cut fruit. They also have some experimental toppings like homemade marshmallows (who knew you could make them at home), along with 4 mason jars of other toppings like peppermint. They also have bubble tea and hot chocolate. You can get the bubble tea as a smoothie. (I must confess, I still am not sure what bubble tea is...but they have it...and people seem to like it.) For their hot chocolate, they have 3 types of marshmallow topping...regular, toasted and scorched. The ambiance is very clean and peaceful. They charge $.45 per ounce. Just tried Citizen Yogurt for the first time, and I was super impressed! I've been to at least seven or eight different frozen yogurt chains, and this is easily one of the best. This is definitely not your average, run-of-the-mill yogurt shop! The favors are fresh and unique-the apple pie, cappuccino and pomegranate raspberry were some of my favorites, but their simple vanilla and original tart are equally awesome. And the topping selection is insane! So many choices you don't see anywhere else-like pop tart pieces, pistachios and tons of fresh fruit. Also, don't miss out on the experimental toppings, which are great! The store itself is clean and modern, which is refreshing compared to some of the cheesy too-bright colors you see decorating other yogurt places. I went grocery shopping at Kroger last night and noticed the big sign advertising the new Citizen Yogurt, which was buy one get one half off. So of course this immediately put me in the mood for some frozen yogurt, so we headed over after shopping. This was definitely a nice, upscale frozen yogurt venue. They had about 8 flavors available, with more to come soon. They had an amazing selection of toppings, more than I have seen at any other yogurt place. Literally anything you could possibly want to put on your yogurt :-). I have a weakness for frozen yogurt because I think that since it is better for you than ice cream it makes it guilt free and I don't feel so bad indulging :-). I'm glad Citizen Yogurt is 20 minutes away from my house, otherwise I'd be there daily. Believe me, I'd skip all the healthy fresh fruit toppings and go straight for the jelly beans, sour gummy worms, and Reese's peanut butter cups. For a candy lover like me, this place is a dream. Another thing I like is that it isn't totally geared towards children. Recently I visited another yogurt shop that was more "kid friendly" . Two mothers came in with a mini-van full of little ones. The kids were yelling, messing over the toppings, and understandably bouncing off the walls from the sugar high . The decor at Citizen is grown up. It's impeccably clean and the color scheme is soothing. It just makes you want to relax. It almost puts me in the mind of a coffee shop. Oh yeah... the yogurt! I went to Citizen Yogurt tonight with some friends & was super impressed! They have a really clean contemporary look on the inside, outdoor seating & water bowls for your dog! Sweet! But enough about the decorations... let's talk about the yogurt & toppings! They give you little tasting cups and let you sample some of their flavors (peanut butter, dark chocolate, cheesecake, etc.) & then you pick a big cup & get as many flavors as you want & then load up with toppings from walnuts, to chocolate chips, to pop tarts, to fresh fruit, to whip cream ... and on and on. And they don't charge you per topping - they just charge you $0.45 per ounce. That isn't super duper cheap, but it's really not expensive (I got 3 kinds of yogurt with nuts, chocolate chips & Butterfingers pieces and it was about $4.50) and it was really fun to put whatever I wanted on my yogurt without worrying about every type of topping costing me a certain amount - I got as crazy as I wanted to with the toppings. This review is for Citizen Pops. I cannot attest to the yogurt or bubble tea. This past Friday, the owner of Citizen Pops was stationed with his cart outside of Feel Goodz for First Friday. He was giving out samples of his pops! I tried the Mango Ginger. Delicious! The owner explained that he makes the pops out of fruit, and not juice. This is an important difference because juice freezes differently and tastes more watery. I could even see little fibers of the ginger root in my pop. Very flavorful. The pops are a healthy snack! They are vegan friendly and gluten free. The owner was a great conversationalist! He was very knowledgable and passionate about his product. I definitely support that! I am excited to see the Citizen Pops cart out at the Food Truck Rodeos this Spring/Summer in Downtown Raleigh! I would love to try Citizen Yogurt too. I have never had bubble tea! I am not sure what I did before Citizen Yogurt opened up down the street from my house. I think I went to Cary or Chapel Hill for great fro yo, but thankfully now I'm a 5 minute drive away from some great fro yo with an array of choices in flavors and toppings. The best thing about this place is the friendly family that runs it, and how they are constantly trying new things. In the winter, they had hot chocolate with home made marshmallows (which are amazing btw - you can still get them). Now, they recently started selling frozen yogurt with liquid nitrogen, which makes the yogurt into a more custard-y texture and just tastes great. They also started selling bubble tea, which has quickly become my favorite thing to order when I come here. You definitely won't regret coming here, and with the array of options on their menu you are sure to find something you'll like. read more

After a quick trip to the Creedmoor Kroger I decided to stop into Citizen Yogurt to check out their selection. I was so impressed! There was a good flavor selection and best of all their topping bar had the largest selection that I have ever seen at a yogurt shop! This is by far the nicest frozen yogurt shop I've ever been in. The decor is (oh so thankfully) not the typical bubble plastic in all white. Instead, the place was decorated in tans, greens, and reds (don't worry, it didn't look like Christmas inside). It was empty when I stopped by at 5:30 on a Friday, and the owner didn't greet me--but that doesn't bother me at all. I was in a hurry and on a mission. I grabbed a cup and was impressed by the selection of flavors--pretty standard for similar yogurt shops, but it's still nice to see a handful of flavors that get you excited (I did sugar-free cheesecake and angel food cake). What really stood out was the toppings! It was an amazing selection and there were tons of toppings that I'd never seen at a frozen yogurt place--seriously there had to have been at least 50 to choose from!!! They had things like cut-up poptarts, andes mints, and four different type of wafer cookies. As well as real chocolate chip cookie pieces! Everything was perfectly clean and well-lableled. The spoons were in perfect order; there was not a single stray sprinkle on the counter. The yogurt held up well--it didn't melt too quickly. To be honest, I had gotten so excited about all the toppings that I didn't love my creation (it was like the experience at the salad bar where you get an incoherent creation full of things you like that don't go that well together). Wow! I'm never excited about frozen yogurt (I'm an ICE CREAM girl), but this spot makes me wanna scream for yogurt. The flavors are fresh fresh fresh. My personal favorite is the strawberry, it tastes like someone was standing behind the dispenser and pouring crushed strawberries as it dispensed. Ok, maybe I'm exagerrating, but it's the best staweberry yogurt I've ever tasted. I also like the White Chocolate Macadamia Nut, the chocolate (really chocolaty) and the Pomegranate raspberry sorbet. They have a wide array of toppings, but I really don't need them. I like the simple flavors of the yogurt. I also like the self-serve style, you can get as much or as little as you want. The store itself is hip and modern looking, the cash register is placed sort of in the middle of the store like a kitchen island, giving the store a homey look. It's a clean place and they have a lot of flavors + toppings to choose from but the location isn't the best and it was (too) deserted the entire time i was there. I went after dinner and stayed for awhile to catch up with a friend- no other customer the entire time. Awkward? They have a lot of unique flavors to choose from- peanut butter, cheesecake, pumpkin, cake batter, cinnamon, etc. The saddest thing about it was that none of the flavors tasted like their names...... boohoo. Just had a wonderful experience at Citizen Yogurt! This place has crazy delicious yogurt and sorbet (I had the thin mint yogurt and pomegranate raspberry sorbet), tons of tasty toppings, AND great customer service with a peaceful atmosphere. The ambiance is classy, but homey-- a very different feel than the neon colored, bright fro-yo shops I've been to. There are nice benches to sit on with comfy pillows and the lighting and decor add to the relaxing experience. The woman helping us was very friendly and welcoming as well. Overall, the peaceful atmosphere combined with the huge selection of yogurts and toppings earn this place 5+ stars. I'm definitely recommending it to friends! I stopped by today with my parents on their visit to Raleigh. I had purchased one of the Yelp deals. I thought it would be a nice afternoon stop. The interior is really nice- clean and pretty new looking. But there was NO ONE inside. Including staff. I was so confused. After looking in the back and kind of screaming for someone, a lady came out who didn't understand a word I said. I presented the coupon and she looked at me like I had five heads. I had to walk her through my yelp account and show on my phone the purchase. It was embarrassing. I tried to be nice, but it was really not ok. I'm nervous, too, because I purchased one for a friend. I hope they don't have to go through this. I imagine the yogurt is enough to keep the place around, but without service and communication, this may not be a long standing yogurt shop. Found out about this place at the Durham Central Park Food Truck Rodeo. They had a little cart out there selling a pretty wide array of homemade yogurt pops. It was quiet good, so we decided to visit the shop. We came with a large group (15 people) before heading to dinner and drinks. The place was empty, but since it's a grab-and-go type place, that didn't really matter. We ordered and the owner, who also runs the register and makes all the smoothies and drinks, disappeared into the back room to make the drinks. It was a little off-putting to be alone in the shop, but he managed to get the drinks out pretty quickly considering the size of the group. Two weeks later, my wife and I came back. We ordered a green tea smoothie (which turned out to be tea) and several pops. We liked it so much last time, that we decided to stock up. Unfortunately, the prices, which aren't listed anywhere, had gone up from $2.25 to $2.75. When we asked him, he said that fruit prices had gone up and they had to charge more. We eventually learned that the price is going to hover around $3.00 which is fine, but listing the prices so customers can see it would ease some apprehension. I should also mention that I have since communicated with the owner. They were very apologetic about the green tea error and pricing concerns, and offered to correct the situation. Try their avacado bubble tea.. It's good ! My favorite has been their Taro bubble tea. Found their lychee flavored bubble tea to be way too sweet for my liking. They just started carrying bubble tea too! I tried the lychee and the honeydew bubble tea and they were both amazing! The tapioca wasn't sticky -- and was just perfect! Excited to go back and try their avocado and mango flavors. It's priced a little on the higher side - 4$ for each tea but sometimes they have groupons out so look there before you go! Plus, this placed reminded me of Argo Tea in Chicago. Definitely recommend. The ambiance of Citizen Yogurt is youthful and sleek. The yogurt is self-service and there are soooo many flavors and toppings to choose from, allowing you to dabble and be creative. Most of the flavors are good, and my favorite is the Pomegranate Raspberry Sorbet. I recently tried the new Bubble Tea and both the Honeydew and taro (the two flavors I tried) were surprisingly good. This is by far my favorite fro-yo shop in the area. We live close by and go regularly. The variety of both flavors and toppings is second to none. On top of that, the popsicles, marshmellows, and other treats are great too. And if you go with your dog, don't forget to get a dog pop too! The older couple that owns the shop can be a little difficult sometimes, both to understand and to deal with, but they don't usually run the shop in prime time. Their son, Charles, is great and just as nice as can be. Remembers peoples (and their dogs) names and treats you well. Only reason I ever visit other shops is because of their coupons. The reason the groupon was not purchased was because upon showing it to the cashier, she didn't know what it was, you don't buy a NOW deal if the merchant is not going to accept it. What I got was a single grande size bubble tea at $4.58, the groupon deal was $4 for 2 bubble tea. Wouldn't be nice if the cashier simply accepted initially or give a better explaination with a smile, or even a little discount or store credit, that might make the whole experience different. This is a competitive market - think about it - there are many of these in town at this point. This has become my favorite Frozen Yogurt place out there. Its a nice shop - my kids have always enjoyed the decorations and the place always feels VERY clean. The yogurt is great - they always have a nice mix of flavors - Its never been a problem to find selections we like. The toppings is where this place has it nailed - The toppings are extensive, and fresh. The quality, and selection of toppings is fantastic. This is not your average yogurt shop. It is a huge, wide open, incredibly clean, well maintained space with a huge topping selection. The flavors of the yogurt and sorbets are limited, but they are not your average run of the mill flavors either. We are talking about flavors like Pomegranate raspberry, Dark Chocolate, Red Velvet, Watermelon, as well as standards vanilla, and strawberry. Much like with salad bars, I am also a frozen yogurt addict. Prior to the opening of Citizen Yogurt, I was a devotee of a franchise yogurt shop whose name rhymes with Schmenshees. However, I visited Citizen Yogurt this evening and there is just no comparison. There are SO MANY TOPPINGS! They've got a ton of fruit options as well as a staggering array of cereals, cookie pieces, candy pieces, sprinkles, you name it. The yogurt in and of itself is delicious, but once you add in such a plethora of toppings it takes it to a whole new level. As a pooch owner I also loved the water bowls outside and pictures of pups on the wall. I doubt you can bring your fuzzy buddy inside, but he or she is definitely welcome on the patio! My only recommendations would be to start a customer loyalty program: a punch card or something similar that rewards you with free yogurt after multiple purchases. That's the only advantage that aforementioned franchise currently has. Also, a garbage can outside would be nice. A silly thing, but I like that you can select your own spoon color. At the aforementioned chain the employees give women pink spoons and men green spoons. Way to hammer us over the head with gender stereotypes! Like I said, silly, but it always rubbed me the wrong way! So, once I use up my free yogurt at "that other place that rhymes with wenchees", I'll be strictly devoted to Citizen Yogurt for my frozen dairy needs! Always fast friendly service, love all of the flavors, they taste fresh and I love all of the fruit options. Yummmmm! This is a place that I've started getting intense cravings for recently. They have de-licious flavors! My favorites are peanut butter and cookies and cream. They also have a large assortment of toppings (seriously, they have a wall dedicated to toppings!) so you'll find anything your little heart desires.
