Listed a Jeep on Facebook Marketplace. They said that it looked good and wanted to come see it. We agreed on a price, and if it all checked out as I described, they would overnight a check to me and my credit union for the remainder and for title. Didn't think much of it and they were having the check overnighted. All paperwork was complete while they were there. They took my Jeep. The check coming to me and my credit union did not make it overnight. They finally arrived today. 7 DAYS LATER. I was contemplating having the Jeep reported stolen so it would be returned to me without question. Maybe it was my fault for being trustworthy, IDK. Best experience that I have ever had at a car dealership. They did not come after like a pack of hungry wolves when I pulled in. The salesman James was "no" pressure. Showed us what we wanted to look at, again no pressure. He took us on a drive around the area and showed us things and told us about some of the history of the area. A few days later when we decided to buy, again no problems. I told them that I was waiting for some of my funds to come into my account, it was no problem. Also Jackson, their finance specialist was amazing. They did a conditional sale contract and when we went to pick up the car a couple of days later all we had to do was wait for them to put the temporary license on the car and then drive away. A few days ago, my husband and I purchased a Lexus RX350 from City Auto in Murfreesboro. Our salesman, Bill Williamson, was extremely helpful and courteous. From the time we began to look on the lot to signing the final papers, we never felt high pressured at any time. Instead, Bill was able to locate the perfect car for us from the Memphis location and we were able to pick it up the very next day. Richard, the manager, attended to our all our needs and even took care of immediately correcting a minor repair inside the car. Mike was very helpful with our paperwork and getting everything finalized in a timely manner. The overall experience was handled very professionally yet like family. Just drove 9 1/2 hours one way to get to dealership only to find that the truck we were interested in was completely rusted out Not only was the truck rusted, the rust had clearly been painted over in an attempt to hide / cover it up.... Manager says not to worry we have two other similar trucks off site that they had just got in and we can take a look at but to be aware they haven't been cleaned yet No issues, We hop in the car and drive 15 minutes to go take a look at them No exaggeration these trucks were SIGNIFICANTLY worse not a chance that they'd pass any kind of inspection We went back to the dealership with the intention of making a deal on the original truck we came to look at but at a reduced price to account for all the issues we would be left to deal with only to be told they were a " no haggle dealership " . Did I mention we were cash buyers just to make it easy on the dealership? Needless to say we didn't make a deal and left both empty handed and extremely disappointed Our salesman was very kind however both the owner and management should be absolutely ashamed of the operation that is being ran Lastly, Don't waste time with this dealership Take my advice as well as the advice from countless other reviews Stay away!!! read more

Purchased truck mid October, been working on several "we owe" projects for over 20 hours of them having the vechile and nothing has been fixed correctly. They have advised the truck was ready for pickup both days, both days parts were not put back in place, bolts missing so I am unable to put the parts back in place myself. None of the issues were fixed, I can't even fix what they didn't as we are missing parts to put the interior back together. When the staff was approached, all they said is those people are gone for the day. Really just a half done job. Friendly staff, but have no idea what the left and right hand are doing. Currently have a truck with 4 issues, that haven't been fixed. This is becoming more of. A hassle each time. City Auto is very overrated after the vechile is purchased. These people are horrible. We were very interested in a car they just got in, but they could not sell it to us because it needed to be detailed and inspected. The sales person said they would call me as soon as the car was ready. I said, PLEASE call me as soon as you have it and I will go there with my daughter to make a deal. He even called me and said they were working on the car. Well the car got in and they sold it without call me. The sales rep called and said he was sorry, but someone bought. We test drove a car that had just been brought in this car dealership and had not undergone service and detailing yet. We noticed a few things wrong but we liked the car. They told us to give them about a week to get it fixed up and ready to go, and then we could come back for it. We got a text message that the work was complete and we could come in to check it out. We set up to come in just a few hours later to make the purchase. Before we could even get there, the car was sold to someone else. Bought a diesel truck, with 100k miles, they insisted they had inspected, had it less than 56 hours. It broke down, they picked it up, they have had it over a week. No calls with any updates. I call them and basically, they state "not sure what's wrong with it, we don't have anyone that can fix it and we don't know when you will get it back." I spoke to salesman, Operations manager and 2 people in the service department. If you feel like you want to engage in a legal battle, this is definitely the dealership for you! read more

I didn't feel hustled or obligated to buy from this car lot like I did the others I looked at. I would give them no stars if it was an option. Have been going to City Auto for car repair/maintenance the past two years. Due to a referral from a friend. My recent experience from them has been the worst service I ever received. I will never give them my money again. From the poor customer service to them claiming to repair my car and come to find out they didn't! They charged me 130 for services that only cost 60-70 (rear brakes cleaned and fuel injector cleaned). I scheduled my appointment thru the service center, took off from work, and when I show up I am interrogated by Ashley because I don't have an appointment and am pretty much accused of lying becauase I didn't know the name of the man I spoke with in service to schedule the appointment. She was rude and needs more customer service training. A month later my rear brakes start making the same noise. I call and speak to Randy, the service manager, and tell him I'm concerned my rear brakes may not have been properly cleaner becauase they are making the same noise. He was immediately defensive and said "Well no, we cleaned your brakes." and ultimately didn't provide me any helpful solution. Here I am today at NATIONAL TIRE AND BATTERY, and the service tech SHOWS me my rear brakes assembly and says there is no way your brakes were cleaned/adjusted because if they were there would be lubrication. So there you have it friends, if you want to waste your money and have people work on your car who are liars and don't give a crap about your car - take it to City Auto. I would like my $130 back and wil be calling Monday to have this exact conversation. Absolutely ridiculous. read more

Horrible! So upset that I bought a car here! First of all, the salesmen themselves, were very nice and helpful BUT they sold me a lemon!! Car had o be taken in to for an alignment. But a month later, and it's vibrating again! Second: The paperwork process took over TWO months because the finance guy dorked up the paperwork and cashier's check. We're a military family that was traveling from one coast to the other. I needed another vehicle ASAP. Told me we wouldn't have to worry about paying in state taxes because we're not stationed in TN. Get a phone call a few weeks later, while in another state, & far from the dealership, to let us know that we have to pay TN taxes after all! Had to send additional check for that. Third: they gave me peanuts for my trade in! Said it wasn't worth much and would go straight to auction anyway. I looked up my old vehicle & it's selling for $8000 more than what they gave me for it. Sadly, they didn't break any stereotypes that the low life car dealerships are known to be. So very disappointed that we fell into that trap, yet again. They used the, "thanks for your service" bs and the, " I'm a veteran too, served here & there, from this year to that year." "Appreciate your service to our nation." BS!!! Before I was able to finance the car, I was asked to give City Auto a copy my insurance cards. I gave them my commercial insurance cards and we did our deal and everything was good. Richard had asked me what intended to use the car for and I explained to him that it would be used as our family car. Until....Richard Pace called me an let me know that the deal had been canceled due to me saying that I had intended to use this vehicle for commercial reasons, While talking to capital one during our set up "interview". Which I never once said at all. I said that the car would be on a commercial insurance policy and would be used for personal use. I told that to capital one and to Richard Pace, the finance manager for City Auto. I felt like I was being played, so I called Capital One myself and spoke to their funding department. After being on the phone with them for 1 hour and 23 minutes, I found out that it did not get cancelled due to anything that I had said, it got canceled due to the car being on a commercial insurance policy. Mind You, Richard Pace with City Auto, had just told me it was from what I had said. Turns out, capital one said this, CITY AUTO should have known that if I gave them a commercial insurance policy, that the vehicle could not be put on that policy if being funded by capital one I am now wondering where my money down went, and eager to see how city auto resolves this problem. Mad is not even what I am. I am furious. I waited in the lobby of City Auto for 3.5 hours that day. Your telling me that within 3.5 hours they couldn't find out that the vehicle that I was looking to purchase could not go on my commercial insurance policy? Hate to say this, but I think the big dogs @ city auto are more worried about selling you a car, than the time and effort they take from the customer. However, my sales man Harold Stafford, did an excellent job. He let me do my thing, while not pushing literally ANYTHING on me. If I asked for a key to test drive, he was on it. And I was very pleased with how the pre-buying process went. I would recommend Harold as a salesman forsure. read more

Went to get my car appraised to sell. Winnie, the purchaser, was very thorough and knowledgeable. She did a review of my car and presented me copies of the value of my car on 3 appraisal sites; the cars exactly like mine which have sold, and the price they sold for in the last 6 months within 250 miles; plus the number of days it took to sell them. She also presented me the paperwork of cars sold like mine at auction. She then presented me a offer to buy that was about average of all the prices I saw. I accepted the deal and appreciated the fairness and transparency. Of course we all think our pre-owned cars are worth more than they really are. I might have been able to go to Franklin and get a bit more but it was good doing business locally and not having to drive and spend a day away. The entire process at City Auto was less than an hour. read more

Reading Brent's review, I had to check and make sure it wasn't my husband who wrote it. Like Brent, we also felt that the sales practices were super shady. We used True Car, a tool provided by USAA's car buying service, to get a decent car and have some sort of assurance that we would pay a fair price. Which, by the way, is utter crap-don't be fooled by True Car! They don't do anything at all except get a kickback when the car is sold using their "service." There is no such True Car "certified" or anything even close. It's just a marketing tool to get you in the door. The two sales guys told us they hadn't heard of USAA's program and tried to discourage our using their financing. They charged us more than the listed price, and there was an issue with us putting a portion of it on our credit card. They wanted cash instead which we thought was weird. Who carries around a couple thousand in cash (that doesn't sell drugs)? This should have set off "red flags" in our minds... Anyway, the GMC Yukon Denali they sold us had electrical issues within the first month, but because we live on a very steep hill and our driveway was covered in snow, we couldn't get the truck towed to them within that time period. And then when we did, they attempted a few times to fix it---at the cost of another couple thousand (and we were told to feel better about it because Candi had discounted it)---to no avail. I raised a big stink about it, and she offered to put us in a different vehicle, but we weren't sure we wanted to buy another clunker from them. After all that, we still have electrical issues and are stranded on a regular basis, sometimes at the drive in movies, sometimes on the highway. Tonight the truck started after we got a jump from the road side assistance guy (who now knows us as regulars), but it wouldn't come out of park. We are taking it Serra because 1) we live in Nashville and 2) we had a GMC Envoy Denali that they worked on and never had issues with them and 3) we feel the only way this can be righted is for City Auto to just fix the truck at no charge this time but we know that won't happen. I have been in touch with the manager of the Murfreesboro location. Candi no longer works there. And he did say that we could bring it to them. He says that they want to make us happy. But he did not say that they would fix the issues that they tried to fix the other times-at no extra charge. He didn't say that they would buy back the truck....and those are the only options we would take at this point. There is no point in taking the truck all the way out there when, if we have to shell out yet another few thousand dollars (on a $24,000 truck), we may as well go to Serra. So, I am just going to copy and paste this review to any online sites in order to warn others. read more

I went in to have my car appraised and possibly sell it. The lady was very friendly, but the offer was terrible. I had just been offered $8000 from CarMax earlier that week. City Auto only offered me $6250. Both places told me they saw it as an $11000 retail value for them later. While the difference in cash isn't huge, it shows a very large percentage difference. I was also nearly run over when standing in the foyer by a worker there without so much as a pardon me or a glance. This was my first and last experience with this dealer. read more

They backed out of our negotiated price on a 2015 Subaru Crosstrek. We were working with Leo in sales who was great overall as we understand he is not the final decision maker. Over the phone I got all the info I wanted and he said he'd try to get the price down $500 for some minor scratches. The next day I heard back from financing on approval. That was reason enough for my husband and I to make the hour drive in rush hour traffic from Nashville to test drive the car. Car ran well, in good condition. We go inside to do paperwork and he says he can knock it down to $17,250 from$17,490. I asked him to get it to $17,000 and we'd sign. He made a phone call, printed out the offer for $17,000 and I signed it. Then we waited 30 min for the finance manager to finalize and before we could see him/her, Leo comes out and said his GM would no longer honor the price and we had to pay $17,490 for the car. We left and got a call at 7:58pm from Leo with an apology and to let us know they were dropping the price online to $16,990 this week and he invited us to come back for the deal. We declined as we do not do business with dishonest companies. Simple as that. read more
