Came here twice in one week because my bf just loves to eat here! They have delicious pulled pork sandwiches with a variety of sauces to choose from (they have all the sauces at your table). The sweet bbq is probably my favorite. The brushfire bbq was too spicy for my liking! My favorite side has got to be the coleslaw-something about it makes it so refreshing! I've tried their mac and cheese as well-it is very creamy and pretty "heavy". I don't think I could ever eat all of that PLUS the sandwich+2nd side. The most recent time we went there, we both came out smelling like a fire pit (hair and clothing), so just keep this in mind if you plan on going out somewhere afterwards! This place is amazing! Every time I visit my grandma I tell her right away I have to visit and eat there! The food is phenomenal, once you taste it once you are hooked. Love this place. The smokey smell when you walk in makes your mouth water. Brisket and ribs are fantastic. Pulled pork is good as well. Not a fan of the cornbread however, but that is my opinion. Good BBQ Joint - Very tough to find worthwhile BBQ in Toledo. City is somewhere between OK and fabulous. It's a great lunchtime spot with quick turnaround of dishes once ordered till when your order comes up. I've only ever had the pulled pork but it beats the other local spot, Jeds, by a long shot! This dish is served naked so you can sample one of their four sauces. The house sauce is forgettable but the sweet and tangy has a nice zing to it. Absolutely, upgrade to a platter which gets you two choices from their many sides. The baked beans are what gets me to come back. Dark, molasses-driven, not your weak orangey-mustard heavy bean dish. The Mac n' Cheese should also be tried. Classic yellow cheddar with elbow pasta but hits the spot as reminding you of something Mom used to make. Check City out. Won't break the bank and you can get in and out quick enough to add it to a lunch spot routine. read more

This is our favorite BBQ in Toledo. The prices are reasonable and we are able to get good food quickly without having to resort to fast food. I would venture to say that their North Carolina pulled pork is the best in town and I am pretty sure we have tried them all. The tastiest side dish is the baked beans, which are flavored with bits of brisket. The good stuff being said, there are a few missed steps...the perpetually sticky floor, several of the side dishes are a bit lacking, and sometimes the lemonade is a bit off. read more

The food was mediocre at best . The restaurant was filthy . The soda machine, the table that held the knives forks and spoons and the floor absolutely disgusting. The barbecue sauce dispensers on the table were nasty and two of them were so plugged that it was impossible to get any sauce out of them. read more

3rd time I've been here and the 3rd time they are out of brisket. Had to order the pulled pork which was good but I've had better. The Mac and cheese was really good but the French fries were too salty for my liking. Also I think the prices were a little above average for what you get. The only reason I am giving it 2 stars instead of 1 is because the staff is nice and friendly. I won't be coming back here and I'd suggest you stay away or run the risk of them being out of the food you want. read more

Turkey at a BBQ joint? Why yes...it is REALLY tasty. Just the right amount of smoke and SO very juicy. I will order it first before anything else, and I do LOVE the BBQ. First time I visited, I had the brisket dinner, w mac and cheese and corn bread and thought: wow, fabulous. The second time I visited, I had the pulled pork lunch sandwich, corn pudding and green beans and it was...well, not good at all: the corn pudding was fine, but the beans were oversalted, and the pork was cold. When I asked if the sandwich could be warmed, the counter person apologized profusely then returned it as cool as the first go-round, and even when doused with hot sauce, it had little taste and no barbeque crispy. Stopped here after playing at the Imagination Station in Toledo all day. Walked in there was absout ten people ahead of us. The wait wasn't but maybe five minutes. Ordered the family meal for 4. Had the brisket , Mac and cheese, and baked beans. The sauce and condiment area was well stocked and clean. It was nice eating quick serve bbq off of real plates. Kids loved the the beans and Mac and cheese. The brisket was very good. Came with corn bread which didn't last long at our table. Staff was nice, and the bathrooms were clean. They freeze their hummus over night. I've also heard it's made from pink slime and should not be eaten. I even found a bunch of slaves in their basement freezer. They have been dead for a few months at least or their practicing some reviving witchcraft that I don't know about. Either way definitely do not go there unless you are looking for dead slaves and pink slime hummus. read more

Best barbecue I've had in Toledo, hands-down. Went with the family early on a weekday afternoon and ordered quite a lot off of the menu. Started with a sampler so that we could try several types of meat. When that was through, we ordered more brisket, sausage and a rack of ribs. All of it was delicious and tender. The brisket in particular was a knockout for me, and next time I go there I'll be ordering it for certain. The sausage was a close runner-up. The ribs were mighty tasty, too. Of all the sides and such we enjoyed there wasn't one that I would call underwhelming, except the mac and cheese, perhaps. It wasn't very hot, and tasted like something out of the frozen food aisle at the grocery store. Edible, but not memorable. Everything else, though, including their iced tea, was ace. The staff was very friendly and accommodating, so I'm surprised that so many reviewers have complaints about them. It seems that a lot of these folks are heading to the restaurant late in the day, and are getting buttmad about their being out of certain food items by then. Solution? Go early. We were there at about 1130 and everything was on offer. Considering the quality of the food and the size of the portions, it wasn't too expensive. It made for an awesome lunch, and the restaurant wasn't terribly crowded, so it was comfortable. They have free wi-fi, too, which is a plus. We'll definitely be going back. In fact, we're likely going to become regulars. Hope this place sticks around a long, long while. It earned its 5 stars! read more

City BBQ has some great food! It is a very clean friendly place. They have an app people can download and every time you go there they will scan the app on your phone that earns you points and after you reach a certain amount you can use the points towards money off your order. read more

From the moment I entered the restaurant, team members were very friendly and offered to assist in any way they could. Every team member was very cordial. (Being confined to a wheelchair for mobility... makes it a bit difficult to 'get around', but the staff was extremely courteous and helpful.) Living nearly an hour away, I hadn't visited the restaurant in three or four years, but, because of City Barbeque's recent Facebook post which highlighted the Double-Smoked Brisket Taqos, I decided to try the restaurant again. I was not disappointed in the least! I found the taqos extremely delicious and pleasing to the palate, and enjoyed some ribs, collard greens and coleslaw (as well as the world's best Peach Cobbler)! I was there the day that City Barbeque first opened several years ago, and... based on my recent experience, will frequent the restaurant more often! Kudos to having such a great barbeque establishment! It's a solid bbq joint. I've tried the pulled pork and the ribs. I should note I am by all means not a bbq expert. Check out the ribs during the week because they have a rib special on Tuesdays. I can't remember which sides we tried but everything was delicious. We've only ordered take out but it has a similar set up to Panera where you order and the counter and then you're good is delivered. It seems like a casual family atmosphere. read more

For some reason the ribs have went down hill lately. We have been going there for years. They are tough and 3 times they were out of ribs (a rib place) at 6:00 ??? We drive an hour to get them once a week. Had to go somewhere else to get ribs last night. read more
