my mom and i stopped by here yesterday for dinner. we were sat pretty quickly and waited on by a very friendly guy, he was super nice and was just wonderful! i ordered the cajun wrap with no sour cream, but kept the salsa and pickle, added a side of guacamole and got the baked potato with no butter as a side. it really hit the spot. there were so many little shrimp in the wrap with a healthy amount of peppers and onions! the baked potato was hot and with the salsa and guacamole it was just all so good. i love coming here for something quick that has a variety of nearly every kind of cuisine. we were sat in the side by a window, and we weren't bothered by excess noise or any trash. clean and peaceful experience. read more

We stopped in for breakfast after a brief stop in Chattanooga. I had the Philly Cheese Omelette. It was served with a delicious side of home fries and toast. My husband had the fiesta omelette which he said was very good and had the right amount of kick. My daughter had a breakfast burrito which she said was tasty. Food is good. Management could be better. Tried to charge me almost $4 for some extra mustard. I got the Mexican burger with some mods. Weird they don't have pepper jack and that I had to order bacon on the side just to be able to put it on my burger. It's pretty bad. The "avocado" toast is old brownish avocado spread on untoasted bread. The fruit cup was doused in a mystery juice and some of the fruit still had the stickers on it. I never send plates back, but that one I did. The french toast and eggs Benedict tasted like soap. The stuff was probably plated onto wet plates that still had soap on them. The French toast had all told 3 grains on powdered sugar on it, and deflated whip cream. Everything seemed like it had been sitting out for a while, but it couldn't have been because it came out quickly. Maybe they recycled someone else's order?? We went here for the first time today and thoroughly enjoyed our meals. I appreciate the large menu with some healthy options and late hours. We got sat right away and our server was prompt and friendly. Only reason I can't give 5 stars is because they don't let you make additions to anything (you can remove ingredients, but not add). They wouldn't serve beer to me because I didn't have my ID, and our rude waitress said that it was per Tennessee law. That's false. Per Tennessee law, restaurants are deemed "discretionary" where ID is concerned and the age in question here is 73 years old. This place is incredible to be attached to a motel. I was very impressed with the omelet I had; it was delicious. The food was affordable, fresh, and having stayed at the motel it was attached to, it was convenient. I will definitely go back to here. I haven't been to this location since the move a few years ago. The space is clean and large. Staff friendly and we were seated quickly. Our server never put in the app we ordered, but besides that there weren't any issues. Our food was served warm and was delicious (for diner food). The regular lunch and dinner is good, but nothing outstanding. BUT, when ready for dessert, they "take the cake"! A huge piece of pie or cake is brought to you. The chocolate is rich, and cream cheese well balanced. My personal favorite is the Italian Cream Cake, which taste like we had for our wedding in '95. Well worth the money. read more

Disgusting. Couldn't cook a single item correctly. SUNY side up eggs were burnt on the bottom and yolk was solid. Potatoes weren't even cooked all the way. Sausage was literally just a tube of grease. The bacon looks like someone's old dirty napkin, the pancakes tasted like raw flour with the center not even cooked all the way. My toast wasn't even remotely toasted, I got no butter for my toast or my pancakes and 2 small packs of syrup..... this place is not only a massive rip off cause the quantity and quantity are trash but they cant even cook a single basic food item..... I get messing up 1 or 2 items but to butcher an entire order just shows the restaurant isn't actually good and just pays for the good reviews read more

High marks for City Cafe Diner are well deserved, despite being located in an odd location attached to a motel. A huge selection of cakes greet you as you walk in, which looked delicious, but not something I could partake in as I was there for breakfast. Despite the place hopping with customers, we were seated right away. We ordered a 3 egg omelet and a pecan waffle. The omelet (4/5) was about as good as you're going to get at a diner, and prepared as requested to perfection. The pecan waffle (5/5) was probably the best waffle I had in years. The pecans added an unexpected element of deliciousness to the recipe and the waffle was perfectly crisp without being overdone, and had a bit of powdered sugar on top. The prices are very reasonable and service very friendly, so don't mind rounding up to 5 stars as it was a near perfect diner experience. As far as negatives, they were out of expresso beans, so couldn't make the cappuccino I wanted, and the only hit caffeinated option was coffee. Despite this, I wouldn't hesitate in returning when in Chattanooga or recommending City Cafe Diner to others. read more

Worst diner experience and food I ever had. When you sit a booth with 3 people the server should understand that the table has silverware for 2 and other set is needed. Second, the servers should know the menu, ours did not know the vegetables the cafe has, no he is not new. Third and most important, the cook, expediter, and server should look at the plated food to make sure that it is correct l. Apparently the staff here does not because my wife was expected to eat old, cold, freezer burt green beans. Another point, aside from all of our food was cold, the server failed to provide knives to the table. Yup pulled my food apart with 2 forks. Me. A pleasant surprise! This mother daughter duo from Massachusetts were strolling along Broad St in Chattanooga when we saw the City Cafe Diner sign. We entered the restaurant and asked to preview the menu. Within 30 seconds we knew we wanted to eat here! The menu is extensive for breakfast, lunch, and dinner items. And the restaurant is open seven days a week/24 hours a day! And there are tempting, and delectable desserts; cakes with three layers high, and creamy, fresh pies and bakery items. Yum! The staff are dedicated to their craft of serving and working as a team, exchanging pleasantries with the customers - including AJ who was our server. Even the four individual bathroom stalls are in top notch condition! I had to introduce myself to the General Manager and paid the above compliments to him, to make him aware of how pleased I was with everything. Last time we came in 2020 we had a great meal and we had great meals the other times we visited Chattanooga. Today was one of the worst meals I've had in a while. The big Mike was dry, overcooked and flavorless with cold cheese and bread falling apart. It wasn't even hot. The kids chicken tenders were two tiny frozen strips. The onion rings were frozen and poorly fried and half soggy. The kids sliders and Mac were also dry. The Fries were bad. Sad to say this place we raved about and craved is no longer.
