City Cafe is an institution and must stop location while in Chattanooga. The menu is extensive and their food is delicious. I ordered the fajita omelette and it was very large and I'm just remembering as I type that I didn't even get the biscuit that comes with the dish. However, I didn't even finish it the potatoes. So I guess I'm good. My husband enjoyed his selection of eggs, sausage, pancakes, and grits. Although the kitchen mistakenly gave him potatoes instead grits. I love this place. That said the prices have become ridicules. I ordered a small dinner salad with an add on of grilled chicken. $17.95. When I asked why the cost was so high? I've been eating at this Diner for many years, this place recently got a bad rap from a set of customers that had, a not so good time, I wasn't there therefore I can't comment on their agenda or experience, BUT I know two things: Management has always, always placed the customer first, they have always shown respect & dignity to customers eating in and taking out, I mean for Christ sake, you come, you sit, you order, eat, pay and go home, other than that, there isn't anything else. Stopped at City Cafe Diner while in town visiting family. We ate brunch here and breakfast was fantastic but the desserts we took home with us are what it's all about. The dessert menu is insane with choices and the portion sizes are enough to eat on 3 or 4x even for a junkfood junkie like myself. I ordered the White chocolate raspberry cake, my daughter got the carrot cake and other daughter got the sampler cake which had a layer of chocolate, carrot cake, red velvet, strawberry short cake and I believe one other layer. When we checked into the hotel that is attached to this restaurant, we were told that the restaurant gives hotel guests discounts. We were tired from our long trip, so we decided to get our meals from there to go. Ok, so here is a good problem with this restaurant: It has waayy too many items to choose from! I had a difficult time deciding what I wanted to eat! I finally decided on The Four Bridges Panini which essentially is a pressed chicken sandwich with cheese and bacon. I ordered fries on the side. My husband ordered the BBQ Burger with fries; my son ordered the 6pc City Cafe Medium Flavored Chicken Wings with fries; and my daughter ordered the chicken tenders with fries. Dessert consisted of the biggest slice of Coca Cola cake! Let me say this: City Cafe Diner is definitely not stingy with their portion sizes. No one had any complaints about the taste and quality of their food, which was epic because my children are picky eaters. I still have visions of that huge slice of that chocolate goodness of the Coca Cola cake dancing in my head! That restaurant alone was well worth the trip! read more

This time I got the 2 egg breakfast with toast, home style potatoes city ham and coffee. All was real good. My wife got her Italian Omelet, the mother in law got a club sandwich. Everything came out quickly, hot and fresh. The food tased great as always and have plenty of flavor. They serve up some of the best desserts in the world. Open until midnight! We pulled into Best Western about 9:30, and right on site was this full service restaurant! The menu was expansive, and the items we selected were delicious. The outside is a little discouraging (it's located inside a motel) but it turned out to have fabulous offerings (and they offered everything on their menu at 9 am) I had the Athenian wrap with crispy tots and they were perfect. This is a cute diner. Don't let the fact that it is attached to a Best Western deter you. (It deterred us a previous time, but we figured it was fate when we ended up there again.) We ate breakfast and there are plenty of choices. I had a vegetarian Mexican omelette in a tortilla with home fries. It was huge and good. The wife had one chocolate chocolate chip pancake with eggs and home fries. Everything was good. It did take a bit longer than expected for food to come out based on others, but it wasn't terrible.
