Best value for a restaurant that's been serving Poway for a long time. I always come here for their lunch specials. Great service, too!

Small little restaurant. Came here for some Chinese take out since I was craving dumplings. Ordered the beef fried rice and pork dumplings. I wasn't expecting it to be fried pork dumplings but should've known since it was an appetizer. The inside was juicy and flavorful, but I think I should've asked if they could l've made it steam. I think it would've been better that way. Just don't know if they have that as an option since I didn't ask. Their beef fried rice was good. Not too salty and the beef pieces were tender and not dry. Some restaurants that make beef fried rice can come out tasting dry. Service for the take out was fairly quick but it's because there wasn't anyone else in the restaurant when me and my friend went.

There's a reason why this place has been in business for so long. It's a local favorite and it's just the basic Chinese food take out restaurant that seats about six people. It has the flavors that everyone expects of an American Chinese fast food joint and just enjoys. The General Tsao's was more like a spicy orange chicken, the bbq pork had more broccoli than snow peas and the king pao tasted like what it should be but be forewarned, it has a lot of zucchini and bamboo shoots. It has a great lunch special and it's a great spot for a quick, inexpensive meals for busy people! Just don't expect anything fancy or exotic!

I've reviewed before, but I just had to do it again. If you're old enough, you probably remember the Chinese restaurant your family used to go to on Friday nights to have a gathering - it was a big thing in the 1970's all over the country. It was a good feeling, good food and a good deal during the recessions and when our parents were spending all the money to put in the gas tank. Well, this is that - a place where you are greeted and get a good deal for great food. I live in Ramona - and the food is still hot when I get home. I spent yesterday at emergency and my husband stopped on the way home and got egg flower soup - it's my matzo ball soup. I was feeling much better after I ate it. He did have some trouble getting through on the phone, so he went in and ordered. They only have one person handling calls, so be patient, it's worth it. I cannot recommend this place enough. If you are trying to get more bang for your buck in these times when your dollar is worth less - this is the place to go. Easier to stop here on the way home from school, work, soccer practice - this is it. I started coming here twenty-years ago, if something bad had happened, it would have happened. Good food, timely, amazing. I love this place - you will, too. I would have included new pics, but I was dead to the world when my husband came home, I am feeling so much better this morning. Thank you, City Dragon!

Does this place allow smoking in their outside seating area? I have really bad allergies to second hand smoke but prefer eating outside

Nope! It's a small eating area and there is no smoking allowed in that area.

Beef Noodle Soup (4/5) - the Soup and Beef were Meh, I've had better, but the noodles were fresh which was nice. Pork Soup Dumpling (4/5) - decent soup dumplings, the soup flavor was good, but wish there was more soup within each dumpling. But overall flavor was succulent. Chongqing Chicken (4/5) - def not a specialty, but tasty. I've def had better where the chicken was a bit more crispy and Wonton in Spicy Soup (5/5) - this was the standout dish, the spicy soup sauce was phenomenal and perfectly complemented the wontons. I'd def come back for this dish alone. Bonus - Chocolate Dumplings (5/5) - provided this as a free dessert, which TBH should be on the menu (if it isn't already), the chocolate flavor was so delicious and had the nice pork soup dumpling type skin. Service was very attentive as well - def better than your typical 'chinese' style service of quick/brusque servie - for sure. They repeatedly checked water/tea refills. Overall 4.5/5

You can order your food from a tablet at your table. They offer many delicious Chinese dishes, my favorite of which are the pork wontons in chili oil and the xiao long bao (soup dumplings). Their pig shaped custard buns are also quite cute and fun for dessert! The menu is similar to that of Din Tai Fung, but at a much cheaper price, and their food quality is top tier. Would definitely recommend checking it out!

The orange chicken was the standout--crispy, flavorful, and perfectly balanced. My search for the best orange chicken in San Diego might be over. The garlic shrimp with jalapeños had nice flavor, but the shrimp fell short. The light batter would've worked well for a salt-and-pepper dish, but with the sauce, it became pasty. As for the chicken with cashews and the kung pao chicken, both dishes tasted very similar due to the same brown sauce, which unfortunately lacked depth and flavor. Will definitely go back to try other lunch special dishes here.

It was $76. Ordered fried rice, chow mein, one shrimp entree, orange chicken and house chicken. My wife picked it up and noticed the house chicken was not in the bag. Had to drive back to the restaurant and was told I ordered house CHOW MEIN. (No, I did not! 4 of us were sitting here and the other 3 people overheard the order). So had to wait while they begrudgingly took back the house chow mein I did not order and made the house chicken entree. When we finally got back home with the now cold food, after 2 bites we threw ALL of it in the trash. The orange chicken and house chicken were inexplicably dried out and stringy, almost like jerky. They also put those 2 entrees, right off the open flame wok, in to PLASTIC FOAM CLAMSHELL CONTAINERS. The heat from the entrees literally melt and warp the foam containers, and the food tastes like plastic. These type of single use foam containers were banned - ILLEGAL - in San Diego FOUR YEARS AGO!!! WHY are they still being used here? The chow mein and fried rice were also horribly, chokingly dry. And the shrimp tasted very fishy, like it had seen better days. I live in the area and used to come here all the time, then stopped several years ago due to a HUGE downgrade in the quality of their food. It has now gotten even worse, if thats even possible. Panda Express, down the street, is 100 times better than this. It would have been less than half price of this place and WAY better quality.
