Came here for happy hour and the food was great but the service was ehh. I felt like I was burdening the bartenders if I ever wanted or needed something. Maybe they were just having an off day, I totally get those! Either way I'll be back!

City Grille & Raw Bar is such a gem. The cocktails were exquisite. I had the Mai Tai, and it was hands down my favorite Mai Tai ever. So well balanced, refreshing, and smooth. The dirty martini was just as impressive. For appetizers, we ordered the Argentine shrimp, which had the perfect hint of heat, and the octopus, which was absolutely delicious. Both are a must try. For our main course, we enjoyed the special of the day, seabass. It was cooked to perfection and served with flavorful vegetables and creamy polenta. Every bite felt thoughtfully prepared. Definitely a spot I would return to for the food, the drinks, and amazing service.

An outstanding evening meal at the City Grille and Raw Bar before our show at FSCJ Artist Series production of Mrs Doubtfire! Our server, Kevin was excellent. All six of us were first time diners, so he walked through th menu with us, answered questions and provided suggestions and insights. [[HIGHLIGHT]]We arrived a bit early for our reservation, so we waited in the dark blue velvet lounge and enjoyed a cocktail ... then the hostess escorted us to our table ... the footprint of the restaurant was surprising - and the back patio looked like a beautiful area (in better weather!).[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The starters of 1/2 doz oysters were a huge hit for two in our party - who ate them so quickly - no photos!! They had New Smyrna FL, something from Massachusetts, and Prince Edward Island ... the wedge salad was halved to share and enjoyed and oh my gosh ... the Burrata ... delicious! All six entrees arrived on mark and not only visually appealing, but so tasty and filled with flavor - everyone enjoyed their dish ... and substitutions were allowed and not a problem - this I covet ... if I don't want mushrooms or black eyed peas or potatoes ... that makes the dish even more satisfying to know every bite is what I eat. Chicken Saltimbocca. Short Ribs. Rack of Lamb. Blackened Grouper. Red Shrimp. All enjoyed. Dessert -- why, yes ... please ... the peach bread pudding and the creme brûlée ... we all could've licked the plates clean. The manager thanked us as we walked past him on our way out - I wish he had come by our table to say hello - but the place was quite busy by the time we left. We will return. Sister restaurant - Eleven South in JAX Beach very similar with an extensive wine list, professional service, and modern, elegant atmosphere, balancing fine dining with a fun, comfortable environment -- their unique cuisine is combined with open-flame mesquite wood grilling. Also a great restaurant!

The food is consistently good. Some of my favorite include oysters romanoff and pasta. The seafood is tower is great to experience all the raw seafood and great for sharing. The service and staff are good. It's great for a date night or celebrating a special occasion. The parking lot is a hike from the restaurant but they offer valet for dinner.

Came here for a Valentine's Day dinner and wowww!! This food so damn good! Literally everything we ordered was delicious. I must take a moment to say get the shrimp appetizer!! If you love all things butter and garlic like myself run don't walk for this. The seafood pasta was loaded with so much seafood they were not shy at all with the flavor and my boyfriend's lamb had a great charred flavor! Our server was such a nice guy and he explained the whole menu to us and recommended his favorites. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The ambiance was very intimate even considering the full house from Valentine's.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I highly recommend this yummy place.

Dropped in for dinner. It was our first time. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Small rather cozy environment but there is also outside seating.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Good selection of steak and seafood. Everything we had was really good. This evening we had Lamb Chops and sea bass. Great plate presentation and in fact good attention to detail all around. Great service. Parking can be a challenge but they do have valet. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Cool sitting room off to the side of the bar where they will serve drinks and appetizers.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The four of us were all unanimous in our 5 star rating.

Decided to have dinner here to try the Spanish Octopus. We were sad to find they didn't have it but that didn't stop us from exploring the delicious menu selection. The Peruvian ceviche did not disappoint and was a perfect, light appetizer; the fish so fresh and tangy and paired perfectly with the crispy plantain chips. Our mains were even more stunning with beautifully seared sea bass and flavorful veggie medley and the lamb was so flavorful and tender with tender, crispy gnocchi! If you save room you have to get the limoncello dessert for a bright and zesty finish. The service was amazing; Mikayla and the staff were so attentive and helped us navigate the menu to decide what we wanted. Definitely will be coming back for the Spanish Octopus!

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Very beautiful restaurant.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The service was superb from the second we walked in the door. I was there as a large party and they had two servers at all times assisting us. The manager or someone in charge also greeted me when I walked in and kept an eye on us and got us whatever we needed. The food preparation was gorgeous. I ordered Short Rib on top of mashed potatoes instead of grits. I loved the potatoes and the vegetable. I was not a fan of the short rib. It was very tender but was not fresh tasting. I took it home in a doggy bag to my husband though and he did like it but said he understood what I meant. I felt the prices were very fair and I would recommend this restaurant to others.

Went for Sunday brunch. For parking, there is a lot on the other side of the bank that's next to the restaurant that is marked for City Grille parking. The building is old but definitely has charm and has been kept up nicely. The bar area looks new. We sat in a small section that is up a couple of stairs. It was quite loud in that section but I think it's just the acoustics of that particular space plus some ladies enjoying a lot of brunch cocktails . It didn't seem loud in the other areas. Service was friendly and sufficiently attentive. The food was nicely presented, hot and delicious. We opted for the fresh catch sandwich and short rib melt (we split them both). A combo of light and heavy, which was perfect.

City grille and raw bar was a hidden gem in downtown Jacksonville that I haven't even heard of. Once I was there I was mind blown of how cute and sheik the place was in interior. Before we were seated to our table they told us to wait in the chill area where they had couch seating little tables so your party can relax or have a quaint conversation. When we were seated we tried the oysters for appetizer and I had the jumbo lump crab cake and hubby at the New Zealand rack of lamb. The crab cake was seared toasted on top flavored nicely and the rack of lamb delicious and tender. Service was attentive and helpful in helping us explain stuff on the menu.

City Grille and Raw Bar offered a special night out for my boyfriend and I's first visit. We just walked but I saw signs for valet and believe there is a parking lot if you drive. Walking in, we were greeted with an upscale atmosphere and welcoming service (the only thing we both noticed was the bag of candy laying out on the host stand which did not match the vibe of the establishment haha). When we were walked to our table, I loved passing all of the little alcoves with 5-6 tables each. It felt private without being secluded. A note on the menu! We checked the menu online ahead of time and noticed that a few things had changed on the actual restaurant menu (3 U-10 scallops changed to 4 U-15 scallops, a fish dish changed completely, etc.) so keep an eye out on that if you like to look ahead of time! Since it was our anniversary, we were offered sparkling wine to begin the meal which was very kind! I ordered the First Coast Punch ($14) which was sweet and just what I wanted. My boyfriend had the Southside Sour ($14) which was a bit unique and tart, very interesting cocktail. We ordered the Argentinian Red Shrimp appetizer ($15) and it was outstanding. The shrimp was perfectly cooked and was bursting with flavor. That sauce.....to die for! It was my boyfriend's favorite dish of the night and I'm still dreaming of it. For mains, we tried the Cape Cod Diver Scallops ($38) and the Full New Zealand Rack of Lamb ($46). The scallop dish was tasty (maybe a little bit lacking in seasoning), but the lamb dish was a standout! Perfectly tender and a delicious crust on the meat, and the gnocchi were crisp on the outside and fluffy on the inside. I loved it! Service was attentive without being overbearing, the music was the perfect volume, the decor was upscale, and the seating was comfortable. I would absolutely come back any day and recommend it to anyone!

    Chicken wrap with truffle fries

Wanted to try City Grille out because I always see it bustling with business when I'm out running in San Marco. I wasn't able to park directly in front of the building but there is a parking lot a very short walk away. I came during a slow period so I had the bar pretty much to myself, and my wife. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The place is pretty nice inside from where I could see.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Being at the bar makes it hard to see the dining rooms clearly. Our bartender was great. I ordered a 1941 Mai Thai and later an El Diablo. Both drinks were very tasty and poured properly. Hard to say which was better. As for food, I ordered the Ahi tuna tartare, escargot, and a chicken club wrap with truffle fries. The raw bar chef was amazing. The time and attention to detail he put into my tartare was second to none, easily rivaling the best tartare around. The presentation and flavor was impeccable. I'd come back just for the raw bar. Moving right along, I had escargot next. The dish was weary appetizing. It was served in a dish that held each escargot individually, they sat in an olive oil sort of mixture topped with cheese, and served with mini ciabatta crostini. This dish was really tasty. I found myself dipping the crostini in the oil mixture after the escargot was done. The chicken wrap was pretty good too. It was hearty and tasted really good. Nothing to over the top, but all in all a great wrap. Perfect for an early dinner or late lunch. The wrap was accompanied by some Parmesan truffle fries. Almost needless to say, I destroyed them. The food was great, the service was even better. I would highly recommend this gem hidden in San Marco to anyone. Come give City Grille a try!

Bar staff were quick and friendly. Food was great and drinks were strong. [[HIGHLIGHT]]This is a perfect place for a fancy date night.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Oysters were a lil small but that's to be expected as it's no longer in season.

Chicken Saltimbocca, mashed potatoes & asparagus.

She made sure to check up on us, answered all of our questions, and refilled our drinks often. It was super clean there too! We were started off with some fresh, warm bread and a balsamic/olive oil dipping sauce. The bread was perfectly crispy and went so well with the dipping sauce. We were served cold bread before at restaurant so I'm glad we had warm bread! We decided on the following appetizer and entrees: Fried meat ravioli - 8/10: it came out piping hot and it was so delicious! Fried to a nice, golden brown and covered in panko crumbs, it didn't feel heavy at all. It came with a fresh marinara sauce and had parmesan cheese sprinkled on top of the fried ravioli. Each bite was cheesy, crispy, tasty, meaty, and we devoured it quickly! Carbonara Alla Roma - 8.5/10: I thought the portion would be small since I seen photos online but it was actually a great portion. I had enough to take home and eat as leftovers! The pasta was cooked perfectly and the alfredo sauce was balanced and decadent. I could taste the pecorino romano, and cracked black pepper. The pancetta was smoky and added a nice umami flavor to the pasta. I didn't rate it higher because it was slightly missing a little bit of of that BAM factor! but it was pretty delicious! The Sofi - chicken - 9/10: Oh my gosh! My best friend got this and I wished I would have too! It was sooooooooooooooooooo good! It had prosciutto di parma, mushrooms, asparagus, shallots, cooked in wine and tossed in a rose cream sauce. The pasta was also cooked perfectly and that sauce was to die for! Each bite was like tasting the finest flavors and spices of Italy. I could not believe how tasty this was! If you come here, you HAVE to try this dish! Tiramisu - 9.5/10: One of the best tiramisus we've had in Jacksonville. It was the perfect amount of espresso and cream. They had dollops of chocolate sauce on the side and helped elevated the flavor of the tiramisu. It also wasn't super sweet which we appreciate. We don't really like overly sweet desserts and this one hits the mark on everything. Overall, service, food, and atmosphere was great! We would definitely come back to try other menu items! Thank you for such a great first experience, Sofi's!

Pair it with the crème fraîche on either the toasted bread or the chips, and muah perfection! Personally, I preferred it with the chips since I found the toasted bread a little too salty. * The Tuna Carpaccio was a surprising 10/10. We sliced it into strips, making sure each bite had the comb crisps, basil aioli, yuzu aioli, Florida sterlet caviar, micro arugula, and mushrooms. Oh my god! the flavors were incredible. The tuna made each bite light and refreshing, while all the other ingredients layered together beautifully, revealing new flavors as you kept chewing. * The oysters were another 10/10. They were incredibly fresh, and pairing them with the sorbet created such a refreshing combination. The kimchi dropper was just okay, I was hoping for more heat. The mignonette dropper, though, was absolutely delicious and complemented the oysters perfectly. * The Charred Octopus gets a 9/10. The octopus was wonderfully tender, but I wished the chorizo flavor came through more. The fregola was fantastic, it was satisfying and filling without feeling too heavy. * The Mussels Frites earns an 8/10. The fries were perfectly seasoned and honestly one of my favorite parts of the dish. The mussels were good, but like the octopus, I expected a stronger chorizo flavor. * The Burgundy Escargot is a solid 10/10. Absolutely delicious! The rich bone marrow melted in your mouth, and it paired so well with the escargot. Such a creative combination that worked beautifully. * The outdoor seating was wonderful! Even though it was raining, it was still very comfortable thanks to the fans nearby, so it never felt hot or humid. The ambiance was elegant yet relaxing, making it the perfect spot for a romantic date night, a special birthday celebration, or any gathering with family and friends. The overall vibe made the experience even more memorable. Lastly, a special shout-out to our server, Colette! She was wonderful from start to finish! She was always cheerful, attentive, and incredibly knowledgeable about the menu. She took the time to explain the dishes, answered all of our questions with a smile, and made the entire dining experience even more enjoyable.

The overall restaurant looked clean and great for a date night. We weren't feeling too hungry so we ordered the following based on the waitress and our friend's recommendations: 1) Crispy Brussels sprouts 2) Duck Fat Corn Bread 3) House made pasta + sugo The crispy brussels sprouts were a bit undercooked and lacked flavor but if you prefer a less crispy Brussel sprout dish I would recommend it over the duck fat corn bread. The duck fat corn bread was disappointing. It was an odd combination of flavors that did not mix very well. The corn bread was mushy and the crisp Napa cabbage with the random ranch/spicy sauce combo did not pair well and left my mouth feeling confused. I had high expectations for their house made pasta as they had a pasta maker out for viewing. The pasta was overcooked and every bite was an interesting mix of flavors...some bites salty...some bites unseasoned. There was barely any meat present and overall we ended up not finishing our meal and wrapping up the night. The only good thing we had was the homemade soda that I did not get a picture of but I believe was the hibiscus one. Overall I would recommend this place for drinks but not dinner.
