Eric knows more about printers, especially older printers, than often the manufacturers do. I had an older HP printer with a blocked color channel, which I thought was done for. He cleared it in a few days for a nominal charge. He even sells (and cares for) reconditioned printers. I bought one of these, which needed some slight additional repair, and he fixed it on the spot for no extra charge. A friend of mine uses him for his business printers, too. Heh, I swear, thanks to a certain South Park episode, I can't look at any business anymore with the word "city" in the name, without chuckling. Joking aside, we have an old HP LaserJet 4000N printer with a paper tray that had a plastic piece broken off when we pulled out the tray one day, and then consequently got stuck at an odd angle when we put it back in. We called up City Laser since my girlfriend had used them many years ago and had a positive experience. First things first, we called ahead and the owner (Eric) told us to bring in the printer. We stopped by a few days later, around 2:30ish on a Saturday afternoon, but it appeared that Eric had stepped out. I guess we should have called ahead that afternoon. So we gave him another call about an hour later, and told him we wouldn't make it until after closing time because of other errands, but Eric was very nice and told us we could drop off the printer after hours, since he would still be in the shop at the time. He also apologized to us that he wasn't there earlier. We dropped off the printer around 5:30 PM that day, knocked on his door and within about 10 minutes, Eric was able to unjam the paper tray for us, but told us that the tray wouldn't stay put because of the broken plastic part, so he told us he would get a quote for a new tray, try to order it for us and have the repair job done by mid week. Two days later, he told us that the replacement tray would cost $75. We told him to go ahead and order the tray, and figured this price was reasonable, since we didn't have the time and bandwidth to research getting a new laser printer, and on top of that, like everything else, newer printers these days are built more cheaply and are flimsier than the tank-like old school ones. We told him to replace the tray and a day after, the printer was ready for pick-up. Eric fixed our printer very well and was very professional about it. City Laser also sells refurbished printers. Normally we would avoid buying refurb'ed anything, but since we trust Eric's work quality, we may consider buying one from him in case ours decides to take a dump. Also, for those of you still using dot matrix printers, yes City Laser does service those. We saw that Eric had a few that he was fixing at the time, and instantly had some nostalgic thoughts. There's a small parking lot behind the shop, but we just opted for street parking on Lower Azusa. Can definitely recommend! read more

My HP laser printer at my business wasn't turning on. I called a few places but only got voicemails. City Laser answered promptly and gave me a ETA for their technician. The technician (Eric) came on time and fixed the problem quickly and efficiently (motherboard blew out) for a fair price. We are a small biz and need to print invoices and work orders daily, so when we were given an HP Laser-jet we fell in love. After several happy years the ink started to fade even after I purchased new cartridges for it. I thought, that's it, it's dead, but our computer friend recommended City Laser. For $79, we will fix it and if we can't fix it you don't have to pay--sounded like a great deal. Two days later I picked up our printer, plugged it in and it prints just as well as my inkjet. One cartridge prints about 10,000 pages, sure it prints only black and white, but it prints nice and dark and that works for us. City Laser does not disappoint. read more

Great service, took in a Car computer (ECU) to try and get a capacitor fixed, even though Eric specializes in printers/fax machines and computers he was able able to attempt and solder on a working capacitor. So far fixed my transmission going into limp mode and sometimes would not go into gear. Thank you very much no other place in the El Monte , Rosemead, Irwindale area was able to even attempt to try and fix the $1 dollar capacitor. read more

They determined that it would be better to buy a new printer from some place like Office Depot rather than have my old one repaired. Without qualification, I would highly recommend Eric's expertise in fixing a number of my laser printers and even my old fax machine. He is diligent and highly professional in fixing the printer the first time and I do not have to take it back again.
