The first time I ate at City Slice, I left disappointed at the thinness of the pizza and was only somewhat satisfied with the flavor. This was 2 days after their opening and then a few weeks later having the same experience. However, I returned after a few years later and they same to have upped their game. The pizza had more substance to it and tasted quite good. While it was far from exceptional, it was enough to enjoy. Yes, it could be better, but they passed the minimum line where pizza is worth getting. The location is super convenient if visiting or living at LSU. It's worth at least trying once or twice. Baton Rouge doesn't have the best pizza places, but this may be one of the better ones that are near LSU campus. Props to them for improving. read more

It was the best of pizza; it was the worst of pizza. I've eaten inside City Slice twice and ordered to-go twice. When you eat IN the restaurant, I think the pizza is possibly the best in BR. When I've ordered to-go, I've thrown it away both times. No sauce, extremely dry, lacks flavor, etc. whatever. But if you eat there--it's incredible. The wings are great no matter what. LSU has opened a new place!!! No, you guys don't understand!!! We get worn out with food choices. I am a big fan of the place so far. I have only tried the smoked wings and the fries. The smoked wings are a show stopper. They are so freaking good. The only thing is the smell on my fingers continues to make me hungry after eating them. I can not mention the fries. They are a great additional to ANY meal. I could order just the fries and be happy. I haven't tried the pizza yet, but I heard great things about it. Also, I am happy to hear they have a lot of white sauce pizzas because I can't handle the red sauce. So I will keep walking across the street to explore more about this place. read more

Okay, while their pizza loses a little something when ordered for delivery--to sit at the bar and get a fresh piping hot slice to chomp on with your beer--City Slice has the best pizza in town. Also, their garlic-Parmesan wings are flat-out the best in town. I think this is because they come straight from the smoker out back. Their local competitors' --which I shall not name--have wings with a "manufactured" taste in comparison. The service is friendly. I was a regular before the pandemic and after being vaccinated have just started returning after an absence of over a year. I wish City Slice continued success. I've seen a lot of restaurants and bars come and go in that location. City Slice deserves to be a success. Check them out and support them. read more

I came here on a Saturday night with a friend. The hostess greeted us and we were sat immediately. For a Saturday night at dinner time, it was pretty dead. Anyways, our server seemed kinda irritable that we were taking our time to order food, which is kinda weird considering how slow it was there. The food was pretty good! Not perfect since there's some things to be fixed but I'd go again. The pesto chicken pizza was interesting. The toppings complemented each other well, however, the dough was a bit too thin. I had to eat my pizza with a fork and knife since I couldn't pick it up without everything falling off. Oh also it was big enough to probably share with two other people! We also had the loaded fries which was pretty tasty as well. In addition, I had the blackberry smash also. It was refreshing and sweet enough. All in all, I'd come back to this place since it was fairly priced and not your standard pizza joint! I would just hope that they work on their dough by making thicker. read more

I was pleasantly surprised by the pizzas here! 1 pizza is more than enough for 2 people to share. One of the toppings I really enjoyed on my pizza was the andouille, which knowing that City Pork owns this place it was bound to meet my expectations. Although the pizza tasted fantastic, like other reviewers mentioned the pizza is thin, which makes it harder to pick up. I was perfectly fine eating it with a knife and fork, however others may not. The pork fries are a great appetizer option. Between only 2 people, it will definitely leave you practically full that you probably won't have room for the pizzas so I definitely recommend getting it to share with a group of 3+. I will definitely be back here because you do get a large and delicious pizza for only $15. The other menu items are moderately priced as well and I have no doubt the portion sizes are generous. read more

No service. We went there on Sunday, July 16, 2023 at 11:45 a.m. They have a sign that says, please wait to be seated. There was a waitress waiting tables and she said she would seat us shortly. We told her that we wanted to sit at the bar and she said to go ahead. The bartender would be with us shortly. There was no bartender. There was someone filling soft drink glasses and doing other things in the kitchen adjacent to the bar. The door was open and they could see us. No one ever came to wait on us. LSU Now Has Pizza Around the corner and More They have no website at present but 2 of us went here and we ordered cocktails and an appetizer. The appetizer was homemade French fries covered with Italian roast beef debris and sautéed Italian olive salad. Never seen this before and was skeptical but was pleasantly surprised how both of us really loved it. I had the bloody Marry specialty which is dressed with Italian pepperoni, olives, bacon skewered topping, lime and lemon wedges. It was quite different and good. I'd recommend checking this place out. Pizzas looked good but that will be fore another visit. read more

Well this was really a disappointing dining experience! Was really looking forward to trying City Slice ! The wings seem to have been the frozen heat and eat kind that you get in the frozen food section at Wally World , that had simply been flash fried ! The waitress seemed nice , but also seemed as if we were interrupting her night with her friends, who by the way she spent most of her time with at the bar ! Our glasses were never refilled! When the food came out the veggies were soggy and wilted! When we inquired about the veggies we were told they had gotten a bad shipment! So why even serve them to your customers? I went here for a late lunch. The vibe is relaxing and perfect for a Friday afternoon. Some customers were playing at the pool table and others were chatting over pizza. I ordered to-go. My friend and I attend LSU and decided to try City Slice after noticing it on the street. We walked in and immediately liked the establishment's decor and setting. It is a sports bar feel but still classy and convenient for families. There were not too many customers so it was the perfect time to visit. I ordered the buffalo wings while my friend ordered the pizza and we split the pork fries. In all honesty. the fries were the best part of my meal. They were loaded with pork, queso, and jalapeños but somehow still crunchy and delicious. Go in expecting that the buffalo wings are more of a sweet buffalo sauce than actual buffalo which I personally do not care for as much. Yet, I still enjoyed them because of their crispy texture. My friend loved the Fighting Tiger pizza and said City Slice's crust was one of the best she's ever had. All in all I think City Slice is a great twist of your well-known Chimes and Walk-Ons but still manages to add its own unique taste. read more

City slice has a very inviting environment the moment you walk in. You immediately are greeted and assisted with whatever you may need. Their pizza was okay but not too impressive. The sauce and cheese were poorly put on and it could have been improved. However, I thoroughly enjoyed their fries though and wings. They are extremely good and I highly recommend. Their fries IMO are a hidden gem!' One of the best fries in Baton Rouge! Their bar is great as well with friendly and knowledgeable bartenders. There was no one else there at the time, as it was kind of early for dinner. We were seated quickly. The waitress was friendly & good at making recommendations. The menu had tons of different kinds of pizza! My friends picked an appetizer & a pizza for the three of us to share, and both of them were things I wouldn't normally order: Hot fries & Duck, Bacon & Romano pizza. Both were abzolutely incredible. First off, I want to give major credit to the waitress who served my party last night. She started off by apologizing for our wait; it was during the dinner rush, the restaurant was mostly full, and they only had two wait-staff to take everyone's orders. As someone who has worked in food service, I know how quickly situations like these can get out of control and beyond stressful. And in spite of the bad situation, we received AMAZING SERVICE. She checked in on us continually to make sure we had everything we needed. She brought us extra napkins even though we hadn't asked. She took an extra moment to write a really sweet, heartfelt note on the bottom of our check. She made us feel really special, and I can't thank her enough. That being said... City Slice says right on their menus that they are "New Haven Inspired". For those who have never had pizza from New Haven, Connecticut before, it's a very unique style of pizza known especially for the super thin crust. If you try to eat a slice by hand, it's gonna flop everywhere and be messy so it's best to start with a fork and knife approach. Not everyone appreciates the super thin crust; I happen to like it. I personally recommend trying a slice before you decide how you feel about it, because City Slice is a gem that shouldn't be missed out on. I have been here 3 times. And after my first time here, I had made a comment about the pizza being floppy...and every subsequent time afterward it was never a problem (it's like they read my mind and fixed it on their own). Originally from New Jersey, I'm usually a tough critic on Pizza. City Slice is the best Pizza spot in Baton Rouge, no question in my mind. The restaurant is spacious and clean, and service is generally fast. The crowd is usually college town from the times I have went. Drinks are mixed well, and there is usually enough space at the bar to catch the games. From every spot in the venue, you are able to see a television--which is a huge plus in a college sports town. Customer service could improve a little bit as far as social cues, but it's a new business and so I'm sure they are learning more as they go. They have a wide variety of toppings, all of which are fresh. I think the crust is my favorite part, the dough is just so savory! All in all, the pizza itself has a very good consistency. You won't feel too full after you eat (unless you enjoy it so much you eat the whole pie). My most recent experience included a large pizza with Pineapples, Chicken, and Alligator Sausage. This is my new go-to for Pizza in Baton Rouge! Came here for a slice to go. Service was prompt and nice. The pizza, however, was sub par. The quality of the meat is good since they use the same meat as city pork. But they are stingy with the toppings, even vegetables. Makes the price points feel a bit overpriced. The crust is thin which you would think would lead to a nice, balanced slice. But it is undercooked and doughy. There is no integrity or crispiness to the pizza, leading it to be very floppy even with the light amount of toppings on the pizza. The taste of the crust is nice, slightly sweeter dough with good rise on the edges. This place has potential, but right now if you're looking for a legit new york slice, go somewhere else. read more

I will go back because the place is still pretty new--open only about a month--and it was a busy Friday night. But the service was pretty terrible. We were told it would be about 30 minutes for our table, and it took about an hour and 10 minutes to get seated and get our order placed (and that was after we decided to break our party into tables of three and four). I honestly think they were overwhelmed and just didn't remember us. And I trust that all of this will be fixed in time. Now to the important part of the review--the food. The biggest let down of the night was the pizza. I guess I had high too expectations. The cost is about right for a 16" pizza ($15-18), but there was nothing to write home about regarding the taste. And we got the meat lovers so you'd be expecting a homerun. I'm sure the ingredients were all fine, but together they just didn't taste very yummy. It is a good pizza. But not a great one. One night I strolled in just before closing, I could tell the waitress had been working tirelessly but she still treated me like I was the first customer of the day. Basically just a review of their Moz Sticks: Price for Quantity: 4 -for $10, 4 moz sticks just doesn't do it for me. If they gave 6, then I woulda been happy. They bring it out on a big plate and it's extremely underwhelming. Moz stick taste: 9 Breading was great, cheese was perfect. Appreciated the cheese to breading ratio. The light breading was flavorful but delightful. Sauce: 5 Great hints of parmesan, and a high quality tomato. However, they let the crows fly with the parsley. Overwhelming and powerful, when that's spice needs to add subtle flavor. Overall, it's a good stick, but I won't come back to try again. My search for the best Moz stick in Baton Rouge/New Orleans continues. 6/10 read more
