My relationship with Clark's started over a decade ago with a Kia Rio Cinco. We thought it was an alternator problem. The alternator was replaced and they explained their warranty to me. Five alternators later, they still stood behind their work when the Kia Dealership determined it was some sort of timing issue with the powertrain computer that they were only able to determine because of internal memos during design. Mind you, Clark's only charged for the first repair, even though the car was clearly a lemon by design. They've had all of my business since then, and I can only say that through the years, their professionalism, customer care, and community-mindedness have only gotten better. What strikes me most is that they have done a lot to earn a reputation for fostering relationships with their customers. Yes, it is a business with bills to pay, but they do a lot to make sure you are happy with the work they do and want to go back should the need arise. I've had a series of truly terrible cars, and they've helped me squeeze every last drop of usability out of them. They also have relationships with other companies like tow services and rentals that enhance the services they provide. Just go for an oil change and you will see what I mean. You will be given choices, informed choices. If they see anything amiss, they will tell you without pressure. For example, I currently have two vehicles that are 2002-2003, so yeah, there's going to be work that needs to be done. They will tell me if there is something wrong that needs to be addressed immediately to keep the car running safely, or whether it can wait. We work together to figure out when/how the work can be done, considering my (often limited) budget. I can't afford bad repairs. I can't afford to go anywhere else. We originally encountered Clark's when my husband's vehicle refused to start and he was left stranded in a mall parking lot. While it often makes sense to be wary of the types of places your vehicle gets towed to late at night, this has been by far the best overall experience I have ever had with a mechanic. Also, their location is within walking distance of the Route 59 train stop (which my husband takes to work), so anytime we need to bring the car in, he can just drop it off on the way to work, and pick it up when he gets back. They are always polite, and I have always received excellent service. This shop may not be the cheapest, but I have never had them repair something and had the repair go wrong. They do thorough work, and they keep me informed about recommended service when my car is going to need something done, and they are honest about how soon it needs to be done ... if it can wait, they will tell me so. I have also had several experiences where they go above and beyond what would be expected. We recently bought a vehicle that has experienced some issues that we have been working with the dealer to correct. Clark's is always willing to update diagnosing issues with the repairs the other place has done, and are even willing to call and advocate for me in the process. In another recent experience, they noted that a part in our other vehicle was beginning to fail, and helped us work with the dealership to get the repair covered under our warranty. It would have been very easy for Clark's to wait until the part had fully failed, and wasn't covered, but they didn't. After a repair was done, Clark's even checked it for me for free the next day to make sure that it had been done appropriately (Thanks, Pete!). As long as we are in the area, I wouldn't dream of trusting my transportation to anyone else. read more

First time customer, I called up and asked what their hours were on Thursday. I was told they were open 8-5. The guy who answered said though "It will probably be slow though and we will close at 3 or something" I said that I needed an oil change and to have my codes pulled as I was getting a check engine light. I informed the person on the phone that I would be arriving at 3:15 (Plenty of time for an oil change and to pull a code)....think again......This caused the person on the phone to start launching into a tirade about how they are not taking appointments and they already have appointments booked until 5 and that the only way I could get in was if I dropped my car off before 8 am and picked it up at 3 pm. Soooo....wait......you just said you were probably going to close early as its going to be slow, then when I say I need service done which would prevent you from closing early, you pretend that you are super busy and couldn't possibly handle checking my vehicle or doing an oil change. How terrible is your customer service that you would rather lie to your customers, and close 2 hours early, instead of doing your job during your NORMAL BUSINESS HOURS?!?! I will never ever use this place, and I am extremely dissapointed by the glowing reccomendation that caused me to call in the first place. TLDR: This shop tried to do everything in its power to prevent me from coming after 3pm when they want to close early. They lost my business because of it...shame that they are open from 8-5 and want to close so bad at 3 that they send business away....terrible. I was honestly shocked by the service I received when I went to Clark's. I had called in early on a Friday morning due to an engine oil leak. I talked to Jason and he told me to come right into the shop and they would see what they could do for me. I went right in, Jason talked to me as to what was going to happen and he was very polite and talked at my level without making me feel stupid about my lack of car knowledge. I explained I had no way to get home if the repairs would take long. He assured me that they would get me home if the car had to be there awhile. I sat in their waiting room while I waited for them to take a look. The Waiting Room was quite nice for a car repair place. It didn't smell like car shop, they had wi-fi available, TV, and even coffee and water available. For an electronics geek, this was a bonus for me. I came to find out the problem I had was a loose oil pan that wasn't tightened all the way when I got an oil change. They did not charge me to tighten it and clean up the oil that had gotten all over the underside of the car. Anyplace would have easily charged for even the simpliest fix. I found that to be huge in terms of customer retention. I will definitely go back there for my oil changes as thanks for the excellent customer service I received in my time of need. When I moved to Naperville, my friend highly recommended Clarks Car Care. When our Corolla had a mysteriously draining battery, Jason figured out and fixed the problem. He took time on the phone to explain the diagnostics as they were completed and to discuss the parts and the procedures needed to fix the problem. He was patient with me, listened to my questions and concerns, explained how things worked, and took the time to be sure my car's problem was corrected. Recently, I brought in our minivan for maintenance. I requested Jason's assistance again because of his thorough, patient work the previous time. After checking the car, he listed and discussed the maintenance priorities, gave me quotes on parts and labor for each job that was recommended, explained the importance of the different recommendations and why, and was honest about what was needed (and not needed) for my car before I drove it across country with my family. At Clark's I always feel that the employees listen to my concerns, answer my questions honestly, make recommendations ethically and do a great job with their work on our cars. I have also found the follow up phone call from the owner to be both kind and helpful. read more

Everyone knows that it's hard to find a mechanic you can trust. Well, I can't emphasize this enough: the people at Clark's offer the best service for the best value around. I never doubt that I'm being treated fairly and honestly by Joey and Jason. Case in point: my car was in the shop for a couple weeks because they were having the worst luck with it. Things kept breaking (sorry, not a car guy so I can't tell you what). Joey felt so bad that he put me in a rental car with Enterprise at NO COST to me. And when I got the final bill, they only charged me for the initial quote... even though they replaced several engine parts that weren't on the original estimate. They definitely lost money on me that time, but these guys understand the value of a great customer relationship. I even moved away for a couple years, so I had to use a different mechanic. And I actually called up Joey a few times to make sure I wasn't getting taken advantage of by the other guys. Thankfully I'm back in Naperville. My car failed its emission test on a early Saturday morning. While waiting in the testing center line I had noticed a advertising banner for Clark's Car Care which is right next door to the testing center. So after i failed the test i checked the Illinois epa directory and saw that Clark's was at the top of the list with an A rating. Taking a chance i called em and YES they answered. Matt answered and explained that even though they are closed on weekends he happened to be there finishing up some work and and told me to bring it in anyway. His expertise in emission failures and how to fix them was amazing. After assessing my emission failure codes with his computer he determined the solution and fixed it. After fixing it we went back into the testing center line for a retest and passed. All of this in under 1 hours time. Thank you, thank you, thank you! We can't thank Matt and his crew at Clark's car care enough! I have a 2001 Rav4 with 197,000 miles on it. I had to pass the emissions test in order to renew my license plates. I took my car to our local mechanic and had a few things done so I could pass the test. Unfortunately the engine light went on again. The mechanic told me they couldn't do anything else and I should try the Toyota dealer. I went to the Illinois Air Team website and saw that Clark's Car Care was one of the recommended repair shops and they had a 100% repair success rate. Without a doubt they were the shop I needed! Matt was an expert when it came to emission problems. He said he had a couple of ideas and would try the most economical way to fix my car. Matt was able to work his magic and my car passed the emission test. Clark's Car Care saved me a bundle of money. I would highly recommend them to anyone with emission problems. I went to Clark's Care shop because I was afraid that my car would not pass the emission test due to the year of my car. Unlike other shops I had visited.... where a mechanic would see a woman and try to take advantage of her by suggested unnecessary work on the car, Matt was straight forward and stated that he also has a Toyota Solara and that my car would pass the emissions test. He even rode with me to take the emission test and my car passed the test :) Great customer service, very professional and friendly. I've been looking for a trustworthy place for a while and heard that I should give Clark's a try. I decided to bring my car in for maintenance and I'm glad that I did. Upon entering the building, I was greeted by 2 men at the front, Jason and Joe. They asked how they could help me and I told them I needed an oil change. They explained what my options were and made a recommendation. Once that was out of the way, they also shared with me the other services that Clark's provided. Overall, it was a very pleasant experience. I was offered coffee, popcorn, and a comfortable waiting room to relax. They remained professional and I didn't feel like they were trying to sell me something I didn't need. Even better, the service was quick and the cost was very reasonable. I will definitely be back. Just wanted to say thanks to Clarks Car Care for being the best auto mechanic my wife and I have used. We started going there for oil changes awhile back, but we soon learned we could trust them with the serious stuff as well. In fact, we're moving from Aurora to South Elgin next month. We'll be farther away, but I told my wife I still want to take the car to Clark's when needed. Once you find a place you trust, you don't want to go anywhere else. Marshall, Joey, and the guys over there are great. Great customer focus. They always call and follow up to see how everything is running after you come in. Sweet waiting room space as well!!! To start with... WOW! Tried this place out for the first time today and what a delightful surprise. I scheduled an appointment online this morning before they opened. Within two hours I had an email confirming my appointment with my choice of times. I even emailed back asking if they could get me in earlier, and they could. Extra thanks to Jason for being so responsive! All I needed was an oil change and tire rotation and the work was done very efficiently! The waiting area had wifi and complementary beverages. I was in and out in less than an hour and there was no push to up-sell me anything. What a treat! I even brought with an oil change coupon from their website and Jason gave me a punch card to get the same deal on my next five oil changes! The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. Matt Weber is that Guy! Came in due to failing the emission test caused by my car's sensor. beforehand I did go to my regular mechanics but the person that does the checking ous out and was told engine check-up would cost me about $100. Anyway's Decided to go to Clarks Care as it was recommended on the emission test paper. Matt looked at it right away and came back and explained what was happening and what was wrong. Nothing was wrong with my car just the sensor was a little off, he also told me I was the luckiest guy as it would have coasted me close to $800 according to what was failing on the emission test. He told me to just take it right away and ended up passing the emission test! Plus he is super friendly!!! The team at Clark's Car Care saved the day/week/year!!! I brought my car to a dealership to fix an issue that I had with my car that caused the emissions test to fail. They told me it would be $1100 to fix the issue. Thankfully, I called Clark's and they told me to bring it in and they would take a look at it. Within 15 minutes, Matt Weber had fixed the issue and presented me with a passed emissions certificate! That saved us a lot of money and headaches!!!! We have been having our car serviced at Clark's for the past few years. They have always been knowledgeable, professional, and gotten repairs completed in a timely fashion. Recently, we had a major steering problem, but the cause was obscure. They were finally able to pinpoint the cause, after two visits and a lot of testing. Although it took two visits, once they found the cause, they fixed it and our car now handles as easily as it did before. We have found their repair costs pretty reasonable. They are great to deal with, and follow up with a courtesy call a few days after repairs, to make sure everything is working correctly. We highly recommend them. They have a comfortable waiting room with a massage chair, free popcorn, soda/coffee, TV, and WiFi. read more

Great service - professional, courteous, friendly, and knew what they were doing. I had my Sienna minivan in for an AC service and an oil change. Starting with the person taking the appointment (Amy), the experience was great. Amy also was the person I saw when first entering the service center customer entrance. She was very polite. My service advisor (Joey Alleruzzo) was also very friendly and tech knowledgeable. He took care of my car and kept me up to date as I did wait for the services to be completed. I left feeling great and my AC was working and after a couple weeks still is just as cold. I recommend Clark's Car Care in Napervile (440 Industrial Drive).
