I filed a complaint with the BBB today for the following: Complaint Summary: Service Center: Aurora Oil and Lube Service Date: November 23, 2024 Service Provided: Standard oil change Charge: $82.51 Issue: Shortly after the service, my car began leaking oil. Upon inspection by James Chrysler dealership service center, it was determined that the oil adaptor had been overtightened, causing it to crack and leak oil. The repair cost is estimated at $1,604.95 plus tax. Attempts to Resolve: I contacted Aurora Oil and Lube to inform them of the issue. Initially, they agreed to inspect the car but later denied responsibility, attributing the problem to wear and tear. Multiple requests for them to inspect the damage at the service center were denied. They suggested taking the car to a different service center in Lisle, IL, which is not feasible as the car is undrivable due to the oil leak. I contacted their corporate office and requested a callback, but my calls have not been returned. Warranty Violation: According to their website, the service center warrants that services and products will be free from defects in materials and workmanship for one month or 1,000 miles, whichever comes first. My car is within this warranty period. Resolution Requested: Reimbursement of the repair cost ($1,604.95 plus tax). Reversal of the oil change charge ($82.51) to my credit card. read more

So to make the long story short. I called the place to confirm a coupon that I had for an oil change. Everything got confirmed over the phone. I get there, as soon as my car pulls in, some guy that was underneath a car working on it just starts looking at me and immediately calls the other guy over that was supposed to to service my car, and they started talking and smiling. Next thing you know, the guy that was suppose to service my car comes over and says they can't give me an oil change because of how my car sounds and because of a leak. At the point, my emotions were about to take over, but instead I left, called the place back and spoke with the supervisor because this was my first time being rejected for an oil change. I mentioned I do have a leak that I know about. He goes on to apologize and say that they usually don't reject anyone because of a leak unless it's been actively leaking and that no matter what they were supposed to give him the scoop on what happened which they didn't. He tells me to come back so he can check my car out. He sees a leak but can't quite explain the details of the leak so he goes on and services my car, charges me only 25(coupon price) and gives me some more coupons. He basically makes up for the ignorance of his employees which is why I gave them 2 stars instead of 1. Now mind you, I've never had this happen anywhere else but here. So the moral of the story is to never match ignorance with ignorance. Be the wiser one! read more

I brought my 65 Shelby cobra in for an oil change. Apprehensive since I have a classic hot rod. But these guys are true professionals and know their stuff. They were extremely careful with my classic car and double checked both the drain plug and oil filter were on correct and tight .They were careful when leaning over the body of the car not to scratch the paint while hand filling the oil via a funnel. Updating my previous review. The last couple of visits have been standard oil change visits at best, and on the expensive side. (I paid $45 for conventional oil, but saw signs nearby at other places for $20 - $25 for the same service.) the amenities I reviewed before are gone - it's just a regular oil change place now. Both recent visits included a recommendation for an air filter... which they didn't have in stock. On the last visit, I had some wiper blades with me that I asked if they could please change out. It's been 0 degrees for about a week, and I've been too frozen to do it myself. They wanted to charge me $5 per wiper to snap off the old one and snap on the new one! They guys that work there are pleasant, but I'm over this place. Time to check out the $20 place down the road. read more

They are good. The lines are always quick, so if you want to get-in and get-out for a fast oil change, this is a good spot. They always have coupons floating around for a discount on services. I like them and they do a good job. Now, here's what bothers me...just a bit. They are on the expensive side for oil changes. I guess if you want it fast, you pay more for it. I like that they tell you what else might be wrong with your car, but sometimes I wonder if it really needs it. Not that they are making it up, but it may not be an immediate need. Just took a couple of our cars to receive oil changes. John usually is the go to man here. He is friendly , honest & easy going. The technicians are also friendly & they have the cars done in a very reasonable amount of time ! The facility is clean & also it is warm in the garage for the workers do they are able to service our cars. We will be back ! read more

This place is right around the corner from where I live. I brought my Forerunner in for an oil change at 3:30 on a Saturday Afternoon. All I wanted was the no frills oil change, which is what I got. Of course, my mechanic recommended some flushes and filter changes, which I politely declined. They say it's a ten minute process, but I was here for a bit under a half an hour. I'm not complaining, but just saying. Thank you for finding the nail in my tire! I will need to get that replaced ASAP! All and all, a good experience. I'll be back! Great business...due to honest team... Stopped in last weekend and John (Asst Mgr) took care of my Genesis. Found him to be extremely honest and straightforward, did not feel any 'upsell' pressure. He highlighted a few areas of concern and provided a couple of recommendations, suggesting things to think about in the future but didn't try to take advantage of a short term opportunity to make a sale at the expense of the longer term relationship. I'll be back and will also suggest to friends / family based on John's interactions with me. Really appreciated that he took demonstrated that he cares about the business as if it was his own, in fact, I asked him if he was one of the owners and he said he was not...they are lucky to have him as part of their team! read more

I recently had my oil changed and woke up to a puddle of oil in my garage. I had to have my car towed to the dealership to find out the cap was not screwed in so I lost all the oil. They said they would reimburse me for the bill from the dealership which is great. It has now been 2 weeks and can not seem to get an email or call back about my reimbursement. I would suggest going elsewhere unless you would like to spend an entire day waiting on a tow and getting a rental car. read more

I've been coming here for quite some while. I've always had positive experiences with these guys. If they can't answer a question for me they point me to the direction I can find the answer. Chris is awesome. The rest of his crew some faily new and some not so much are also great. If prices seem higher to the average Joe they don't know the REAL COST of quality opposed to "dealer" maintenance and oversight. Every car I own is brought here and cared for by Aurora Oil and Lube. I was disappointed in their customer service. I requested a synthetic blend oil change. I think the service guy was in a hurry to get it done because it was the end of the day. I think he was half listening so he completed a regular synthetic oil change. I ended up paying more than I was quoted for the oil change due to his error and they did not attempt to rectify the situation. Other places have the customer verify the service they are paying for. Some even require you to sign your approval before the service is getting done. Also, they forgot to reset my oil change light and for the price I paid I would think that is something they would have made sure was taken care of. You live and you learn. read more

Changed my power steering fluid but job was performed incorrectly. Had car towed to auto mechanic and same job was performed correctly. Went to talk to staff about it and they said that this has never happened and were bewildered. While manager was talking to me staff was smirking at me the entire time. The best place to get an oil change in the area in my opinion. You can go downstairs as it were to get a good look at the bottom of your car which is handy. Also they really are not big on the upswell, some places try to talk you into 40 additional things, anything they point out actually make sense. read more

One of my techs stopped by to get an oil change. We have a ten year old van with 100,000 miles. My guy doesn't speak English very well. They talked him into a $90 synthetic oil change. Now we have to use synthetic oil forever. I figured the oil change would cost $20! I wouldn't say stay away from this place...just make sure what they are selling you is what you want. read more

Awesome service, very helpful. One of the few oil change places that will still offer to top off you fluids for you and not try to sell you things you don't need. I took my car there after another oil change place over tightened the filter causing a leak. They fixed it for me, free of charge. Very fast and efficient service. The techs and manager where very nice and professional. Full synthetic runs $70 which is competitive. They also have coupons in their site for 10$ off! Full service took about 15 minutes, which is 45minutes faster than Firestone. The negative reviews on here, don't make any sense. I recently visited this location on at Saturday at 3:45 pm for an oil change. Now the website advertises "fast service" and " good customer service". Unfortunately, that was not what I received. Chris Shinsako was less than pleasant. He informed me numerous times that he closes his shop doors at 5:00 and if I was not back to pick up my car he didn't care and would lock it inside. I assured him I would be back in plenty time, so I didn't understand the need to be so rude, heavy sigh, and eye roll. I'm sorry , but your hours clearly indicate you are still open at 3:45, and because I can read, I also understand that you close at 5:00. I was so turned off by his continued attitude, I left and went right down the street to NASCAR. I have worked my entire life in customer service. I completely understand the desire to get out of work on time, and get on with your life. However, when your business is open and I am the customer, I deserve to be treated as such!
