Honestly the best company to have work done. Our capacitor failed and I knew it would be a quick easy fix to get replaced. I called my dad (he used to own his on HVAC company and I worked for him as a marketing clerk most of my life) to listen to the noise we had and he confirmed it was probably just the capacitor. So I put it out on home advisor to get some pros and had the first 'pro' come out to look. Simply said "it's our capacitor how much to replace it" and he refused to listen and said we needed to replace EVERYTHING (mind you my husband and I are recent college grads and don't really have that kinda money). He refused to just slap a capacitor on to prove if I was right or not and said a sales rep will be back Tuesday. It was a nightmare (no heat in our house when it dropped to 30 overnight). Had a wonderful friend recommend Classic so we called them and they came this morning. Instantly said "yup it's your capacitor, let me slap one on and make sure it didn't hurt your motor too". I immediately knew this was the kind of company that wouldn't BS or swindle me. Ty did an INCREDIBLE job and even flushed our drain pipe for us and installed a pressure valve for easier cleaning later on. The price is affordable and made sense for the work done, honestly priced the exact same as my dad said it would be to have a tech come replace the part! Was once a great locally owned business. Has since been acquired by some private equity firm who has been buying up local HVAC businesses. Customer support used to be great, now it's an AI chatbot. They used to be highly trustworthy, now it's an upsell attempt each routine checkup visit. To top it off, after 12 years of being a Classic customer, their new computer system cannot seem to remember my address, and the techs who show up (once I correct the address every time) have no info about my system. We were long‑time (6+ years) customers of Classic Heating and Air with a monthly subscription for discounted service and twice‑a‑year maintenance. Our most recent experience completely broke our trust. During our winter maintenance visit, the first technician said our furnace had a cracked heat exchanger and needed to be replaced. Concerned, I asked for a second tech. He confirmed "cracks," said the inducer motor was failing, and recommended an $8,000 furnace replacement. When I asked about warranty coverage, he repeatedly insisted the equipment wasn't under warranty because it likely wasn't registered when we moved in seven years ago. He also pushed replacing our AC due to upcoming refrigerant changes (R‑410A), quoting $20-25K for both systems. Feeling unsure, I agreed to the furnace replacement and paid half upfront. Still uneasy, I checked the manufacturer's warranty myself. Within minutes, I confirmed the furnace was under warranty, 40 years on the heat exchanger and 10 years on the inducer motor. I called Classic to cancel and get a refund. It took two calls before a manager responded. He processed the cancellation but offered no apology or acknowledgment. To verify the furnace's condition, I brought in another reputable HVAC company. Their tech explained the supposed "crack" was actually a scratch, smooth not structural and the inducer motor noise was likely from slight imbalance. Neither issue required immediate replacement. He also noted their techs are paid hourly, not on commission. I can't say whether Classic's technicians work on commission, but I felt there was a strong incentive to upsell expensive replacements we didn't need (conflict of interest). I canceled our subscription with Classic and explained why, but no one followed up. I'm sharing this so others don't end up in the same situation. I had an HVAC svc done yesterday, but waited a day to post. I wanted to be rational. Facts: Prior to the Svc tech arriving, I went to the garage and opened the attic door. The attic is next to my work bench. The day before, I placed my sharpening stone and two knives on the bench. The knives were a Spyderco Dragonfly and Opinel. I considered taking the knives in the house to sharpen them, but decided to do it later, after work. The Svc tech arrived shortly afterwards and I met him at the door. I went out and showed him the open attic and garage doors. I went back into my office to work. At some point, I had a feeling that i should go get my knives, but talked myself out of it. (Never second guess your instincts!) The tech did not stay very long, as expected. I went into the garage to close the attic and garage doors. I looked at the workbench and immediately realized my Spyderco was missing. I looked everywhere but I know where I left my knives. Trust your instincts, not Classic! It is my fault, but never trust people you don't know. Thus my bad review. Since the knife is not very expensive, I will take the unfortunate hit. read more

For this review I would like to compare and contrast. Classic air service rep was available to come out that day. Told my unit was finished and said he could recharge the unit but the Freon was $1400 per pound. He said replacing the compressor and coil, all new heating and cooling unit was needed. ( it a 2.5 ton unit for the second floor) I thanked him and paid the service charge. I then called a company my son in law had just used He showed that same afternoon and explained that my coil had a leak. He recharged the system and said when he came back he could fix the leak, but otherwise the unit was in good shape He cleaned the outside units and checked both . We paid him $249 for the entire visit. I should point out that I was out of town and both companies we're dealing with my wife. In comparison, which company dealt honestly with my wife ? read more

My furnace was not working. I called them and got a window for 4-6 today 10/4. It is now 7:30 and haven't heard from anyone and can't get through to anyone at the number I called when I booked the appointment. It's going to dip into the 30's tonight and we have very young kids. I didn't get someone else lined up as I thought they would show up. My furnace is old and I was going to get it working for the time being and then look at replacing the system. Let me begin my 12 year old Carrier Infinity 5ton A/C system stopped working @9pm so with my home @ 85 degrees no sleep watched 8-10 YouTube videos on what to do to fix the condenser. @8am went to local public HVAC parts dist. Installed new capacitor and presto fixed and running. Called CLASSIC heat/air DAK tech coming out to check all readings & pressures because looking at fanmotor install by orig carrier dist 6 years ago looked Micky mouse wiring? Dak added 3lbs freon checked all readings now house cold @75 while outside 106 plus indoors 45 percent humidity before 52-57 percent. BRAVO DAK Call Classic even though tried to be cheap and repaired myself you cannot beat experience and honest a Techs ability not accomplished on YouTube! Friday night after work, we noticed water draining a lot more than normal outside the house and subsequently discovered it was from the drain pan. We called Classic told the on-call tech the problem and that we are also on their annual service contract. Dak Jones came out the next morning at 8 am and quickly identified the issue, a clogged drain pipe somewhere in the line. He flushed it out and also checked both units for any other issues. Dak Jones also went the extra mile and wrote on the units to identify the matching outdoor unit to the ones in the attic. It's the little things they do that make us feel good that we chose Classic as our heating and air service company. read more

I called on a Monday morning at 9am to have my AC repaired per our inspector report as we are selling our house. She had me send over the inspector report and said she would call back as soon as it was reviewed to schedule an appointment. I sent over the inspector report immediately. 12pm rolled around and I still hadn't heard anything so I called back and asked if they received it and she said she had but was waiting for it to be reviewed still and would call me back as soon as possible. Tech arrived promptly. Was very courteous and respectful. I appreciated that. I have 2 units that sit side by side. I was not 100% sure which one was the one that needed to be looked at outside. Classic's tech asked me to turn off the inside unit that was having trouble and ended up incorrectly identifying the troubled unit. His assessment of the unit (which turned out to be the one that was working perfectly upstairs) was that it had a massive leak and was more than 50% low on freon. My only recourse was a new unit both outside and in the attic. It was up to me if I chose to replace the furnace component at the time but he didn't feel like I needed it (little price savings - and felt to me like, hey - he's trying to save me money. I can trust him). Guess what - they could be at my house by 3 pm that day to do the new installation. Wonderful news as we were having 100 plus degree days. I called a second company (Metrocrest) for a second opinion as requested by my husband. They came out to test the same (wrong) unit. He identified that it was actually a little high on freon and nothing was wrong with it at all. Then he identified it was actually the other unit that was giving us problems and promptly fixed the unit for $100 vs. a brand new one quoted for $5-6K - which was not even needed! I was extremely disappointed in Classic's assessment. He didn't hook anything up to the unit but did have some kind of instrument. (Possibly wireless, I don't know.) However, if this was at all accurate - then it would have revealed nothing was wrong since he was looking at the wrong unit. I felt like the whole visit was a scam to get me to purchase a new unit and they did not care about me but rather making quick $$. I would not recommend this company without having another company there to give you a second opinion to be sure the repair or new unit is truly needed. AWESOME, I called for just a routine clean check ext, and they did a great job. Dak called me ahead. He was on time and very Proffessional. He took his time and went above and beyond to explain everything and did not try to up sell anything. Educated me on a few things and did everything well. Dak discusses the Maintnance program, it's a small monthly fee but well worth it. I thought it was more then reasonable sice they come out twice a year and do the spring and fall check. Plus they replace the filters to the furnace. They also clean out the drain so that it does not get clogged. Also give you discounts for future needs , Lots more I can't think of at the moment. We just had a new system installed and called 5 different places in McKinney. Classic Air put us on their schedule right away and by 12 o'clock we had a tech at our house. Danny, our tech broke down everything that was going on in a detailed easy to understand conversation and did not talk down to me because I was a woman as I've had others do. He took the time to answer questions from husband over the phone, since my husband was at work when Danny came over. Danny did everything to make us feel comfortable about this huge new purchase. We really appreciate the warranty, the quality and the overall package they offered. The installers were awesome.They were able to install in a quick, clean and though job. Classic is an amazing company. Our home had all the original HVAC equipment (2 AC units and a furnace) which was close to 23 years old. One of our AC units went out late August overnight on a Friday, we decided to call classic as they had been doing our seasonal unit checkups. Dak came out the same morning (saturday) we called and gave us a run down of our options. We decided to completely replace our HVAC system as it was very old and would eventually need to be replaced anyways. Classic got American Standard (the system we decided was best for us) out to our house to completely replace everything Monday morning. By mid Monday afternoon, our system was replaced and Dak even came by after to make sure everything looked good. This type of service is expected and appreciated; however, what wasn't expected was the box of toffee chocolates they sent us 2 weeks later thanking us for our business. It took us by complete shock and that small gesture went a long way. Our AC we had installed last year seemed to be blowing warm air so I called Classic about mid-morning to report the problem. They had a technician, Michael, at our house in just a couple of hours. He was very friendly, courteous and knew exactly what to check and look for. He discovered one of the connections had vibrated loose and leaked some Freon at the outside unit. He had it corrected, fully charged and was on his way in less than 30 minutes! Like I've said, they're fast, friendly, very knowledgeable and thorough! It's working great since he left! read more
