There are all kinds of "incentives" to sign up, but then you live with the monthly fees. In my opinion you have two choices in this industry - big company like Comcast, or a local company like OmniGuard. I picked and am staying with OmniGuard for three reasons: 1. The primary alarm monitoring system, through Alarm.com is bulletproof. We've had some alarms go off when we weren't in town. The police showed up. If there is urgent issues, they are on the phone with you immediately. 2. The service side - OmniGuard is local and will fix your issues. They are small, and sometimes they can drop the ball, but they always make it right. When you call they are respectful and helpful. 3. Price points remain stable - they don't jack you around after a year. The value remains.

Each person from Phillips that we talked to either on the phone or in our home was polite, informative and professional. We feel good about using a local service too! AVS are nothing but liars, cheats and frauds. You will regret using them…read more In August 2014, we had a tech from AVS come to our business to perform a pro install. Our business was required to have a professional installation of our security system, and unfortunately our security monitoring company contracted with AVS at that time (they have since severed their relationship due to FRAUD on the part of AVS). The tech installed a variety of security devices -- and installed everything wrong. *Nothing* he did that day was done correctly. We had to pay an actual professional to redo everything. The tech said the charge for the service was $250, but he couldn't process a debit or credit card, so we paid him in cash. He also didn't have a receipt book on him, but promised to email us a receipt. We never got a receipt, because the tech never reported to AVS that he'd been paid. He simply pocketed the cash, even though AVS has a record the install was performed. When my company reached out to AVS, instead of taking the matter seriously, they said their tech would never have accepted cash and called us liars. However, if no one ever paid AVS for the work they did, do they work for free? AVS says work was performed that day, but they decided to not charge anyone for it. That's BS. My security monitoring company no longer contracts with AVS because this has been a pattern with the company: techs demand cash, cash is paid, no receipt is ever provided, and the company says that's okay, they'll do the work for free (and their work is done wrong). AVS are nothing but liars, cheats and frauds, and I've reported their income tax evasion to the Internal Revenue Service. I'm sure IRS agents will be much more successful in procuring financial and installation records than a victim of AVS.
