The hostess wearing an N95 mask was so rude. She should not be working with costumers...I would stick her somewhere like dish washing...she has the nastiest look on her face and she would walk around clicking her pen being super distracting while we were eating. She talked very rude to other costumers as well. Our server was a young guy with long brown hair and when he was bringing out our food his hair was literally in the food while he had it on his shoulder on the platter...I was really hoping it wasn't our food until he stopped at our table. We had four adults and two kids eating and two toddlers under two who did not eat but since our party was "8" total he refused to split the bill and said " well the totally number is 8 and your children are taking up space in the restaurant so therefore no I won't split the bill" Everyone at the table was shocked the way he talked and handled the situation. He wasn't a bad serve just had a negative attitude the entire time. The onion rings were good but that's about it. The chicken tenders were so greasy and the breading didn't stick to them. The fries were cold and had zero seasoning. This is was by far one of the worst experiences at a restaurant I've had and I was a server/bartender for 6+ years. We couldn't stop talking about what a damper this experience was the rest of the day. I would say that this restaurant caters more to the senior community than some of the younger generations. Nothing terribly bad about the food or service, but nothing great either. Had the claim jumper since it was one of the more unique items on the menu and it was just OK. Upside to the visit was that they do have a fairly nice selection of local craft beers. read more

Brought a friends here for his birthday dinner as this is one of his favorite places to eat. I had never been. 5pm on a Monday and we had about a 45 minute wait. I ordered the perch and loved the first two fillets, but once I started on the 3rd, it was bone central. I was afraid to eat any more, even though it had a great flavor. For a long time it was the only noteworthy restaurant by the south beach. You will pay more than what the food is worth. Sure the building is old, wooden, and dusty. I LOVE to come to Clementine's! There is one in South Haven and one in St. Joe. Both are great places with great food, but the South Haven location has some tremendous history in the building! Of course, after a wonderful meal, you can take a stroll down to Lake Michigan from either location! My favorite meal there is the Tugboat Annie! Warning -- it is rich and filling, but delicious! The steak is covered in covered in melted cheese which a hidden delicious medly hidden under the cheese! The garlic bread is delicious as well, and I love their cole slaw too. Wanted so bad to enjoy this restaurant but their service really just missed the mark. Our waiter was extremely rude and checked out. When asked for a suggestion he stated he didn't care. He made inappropriate snide comments under his breath that the table was able to hear. He clearly didn't want to be there and made our group feel uncomfortable. I went to Clementine's yesterday for lunch with a few friends, I was on the west side of the state for the weekend and we stopped by South Haven. Good waitservice and overall good food, though HUGE portions. I got a hamburger with whole grain mustard, bacon, and cheddar cheese, and curly fries on the side. I asked for my burger to be cooked medium, and there was no pink/red at all - it looked well-done - which was a little annoying, but not a big deal. Of the people I went with, one got a pasta dish, and the other two got sandwiches, I believe, and everyone liked their meals. We also split the fried mushrooms and the onion rings to start, which were very good, although I liked the onion rings better than the mushrooms. The building itself is a cool atmosphere, too - it looks old, and the light fixtures are gorgeous. read more

You'd think that the food must be incredible given the long wait time, but I'm thinking that the long wait is all a part of their scam, ha! Plenty of empty tables inside so not sure what the wait is about, but it is good marketing -- ppl see a long line and assume this must be a 5-star restaurant. The food is very typical American. I'd rate it about the same level as an Applebees or Chilis, maybe a few notches below. The onion rings were good but everything else was just average. Not bad, not good, just middle of the road. The restaurant has carpet which I'm not a fan of and it reminds me a bit of Cracker Barrel with the style of decor. Everyone dresses extremely casual here, patrons are mostly seniors -- my husband and I were the youngest table and we're early 30s. Nothing wrong with seniors -- just an observation. Anywho, I hope this review doesn't sound too negative -- I truly thought the food was average and I expected more because of the wait, but I encourage you to check it out for yourself. On 4th of July weekend, I went to a restaurant that I had heard about a lot from Google reviews and "Travel Channel" So I decided to try it myself! The biggest thing I heard from Clementine's is their famous "onion rings!" I'm a big onion rings fan, so ordering that was a no brainer! Sadly, the onion rings were a let down....They tasted almost bland, the batter on the rings felt wet and sometimes fell off the onions even when I picked them up. When I asked a waiter if the onion rings batter is always this wet, he replied with "Well.....you order it." Not the best answer for a questionable meal. There was a surprise however because before I got my table, I was in their bar enjoying their very delicious beer! I don't know if the beer was local there or made in the state, but it was delicious! Great beer and very refreshing! If I was ever near South Haven again, I would definitely give Clementine's another go, but for now, the experience was a let down..... read more

I've been here more times than I can count and I'm never disappointed (by the food...service on the other hand is usually always bad)! The inside is gorgeous with an old-time feel and it's in a great location downtown where you'll usually be able to find ample parking. Always get the onion rings. Always. They're so good. I actually haven't been able to snap a picture of them yet because they disappear so fast. We're like vultures when they get to the table... Clementine's also has that "Good Good Ranch." If you love ranch...you know what I'm talking about. I could put that ranch on everything! My personal experiences with this place gives it a 4-star rating. If you were to ask my mom, my BF, or even a few other friends I've taken there they would tell you it's nothing special and barely deserves a 2-star rating. On the recommendation of 2 people from the hotel we are staying at we went to Clementine's for dinner in downtown South Haven. Joe our waiter was really a nice guy with a wonderful laugh. The place is charming inside, antiques and old artifacts are all around. The building is very historical, there is a picture inside of it from years ago. Always a solid choice! I've never had a bad experience here however be prepared to wait 30-60 minutes for a table! Even tonight Blueberry festival a table for 8...yep they told us 45-60 minutes and sure enough 50 minutes our table was ready! They will text you so can shop the cute stores downtown South Haven.
