The ambience is beautiful. The service was great. The salad with the figs was superb. The mashed potatoes were probably the worst I have ever had. And the dinner was suppose to come with asparagus and caramelized onions. The "asparagus" was probably two small spears cut up with maybe two pieces of caramelized onions that were thrown on top of the hard semi cold mashed potatoes. My mashed potatoes had what I think was a piece of bark that I had to get rid of. I had the scallops. The coating was wayyyy too thick. The scallops inside were cooked perfectly. I really wish they had a very light coating on the scallops and put the vegetables in the side of the plate. Fantastic birthday dinner! We arrived an hour early for our reservation and just planned on waiting in the bar area, but staff members were able to seat us earlier at a table beside the fireplace. I made a note in the reservation that it was my birthday, so they included a birthday card on the table. Nice touch! For an appetizer we chose the calamari which was lightly fried and had great texture. My entree was the almond crusted sea scallops, cooked to perfection and served with a delicious beurre blanc sauce. I could have licked the plate. My husband ordered the prime rib and thoroughly enjoyed it. I was surprised with a complimentary crème brûlée at the end which was the perfect way to finish my birthday dinner. Such an incredible disappointment. Reservations here at 7:15 for 5 to celebrate my son's graduation from WSU. Things started off great. We were seated by the window with a great view. Our server Taryn (I think was her name) was great. Appetizers and drinks came out as you'd expect from a higher end restaurant. Then came the downward spiral that was our entrees. We waited nearly 40-45 minutes for entrees. We noticed the table next to us, that was seated after us, got their food before us. Some of the food came out cold and my ribeye was pretty dry. I'd imagine this "dryness" came from sitting under a heat lamp for some time. Ribeye was bland and needed a fair amount of salt added to it to be palatable. I will say the Mac and cheese recommended by our waitress was great and the prime rib my son ordered was pretty good as well. Everything else was bland, dry, or cold. Our waitress, who was great btw, must have noticed our collective dissatisfaction in these entrees as she offered us free desserts and was great with filling waters and checking on us. At this point we were waiting so long it was almost 9pm and we had to get home. No dessert makes up for a 40-45 minute wait time for entrees. Unfortunately neither does any amount of service from our waitress. Although she tried valiantly. I would say when you're going to charge my party of 5 and I $421 for dinner, the food should come out at a decent time. We were told "it was a full house" which is why there was a delay in entrees. I would counter that with, if you can't handle all your seats full then maybe you should have less seats. It's fair to say my son's celebratory graduation dining experience was completely tarnished with this kitchens inability to keep up with a full house. With a bad dining experience I don't expect food to be comped or anything like that. In return I'd expect the restaurant as a whole to not expect a tip. It's not at all about the money, I have enough to tip them. But when the kitchen costs you about $80 on tip money I hope the message of our dissatisfaction is received. I wrote a note on the receipt insuring our waitress it was not her fault but her kitchen's. I hope they do better for their wait staff in the future. We don't live here, so we obviously won't be back. I brought my wife here for her BDay dinner. It's been quite a few years since our last visit and that's largely due to high cost of the items here. The quality of food and the excellent service here are what drive that higher cost, and if the budget allows, it is worth it. We had a wonderful view, which I believe most tables have, and an excellent server to guide us through the evening. Appetizer, main course, and desert were all outstanding. We'd come much more often but again you either save up to come here once in a blue moon, or you are fortunate enough to be well off and can afford a bit more luxury in your life. I stopped by the Clinkerdagger with a colleague for lunch before heading to the airport. I had the lunch box special; blackened Rock Fish, mashed potatoes and clam chowder. The food took forever and was barely warm when served. The clam chowder tasted a little strange with a slight perfume /soap scent. We had a perfect anniversary dinner at Clinkerdagger's. We were seated at a table next to the windows that gave us a view of the beautiful Spokane River; the best view in Spokane. We started with the coconut shrimp cocktail that is served with crispy little noodles (which I cleaned up!). We both ordered lobster tail dinners which came with baked potato wedges and sautéed vegetables. The lobster dinner is generous - you get two and again, I cleaned up every bite. We don't usually get dessert but it was a celebration so we ordered the Crème Brûlée and it was also perfect. Everything was amazing and flavorful and our waitress was friendly and wonderful. We recently moved to Spokane for work. My mom flew in to visit and chose clinkerdagger since it was on the water. Although they had many seafood options to choose from, we ended up all getting the chicken which was phenomenal! It is very thin and crusted perfectly. The wilted spinach wasn't very wilted at all and the mashed potatoes didn't have much flavor. However, the garlic butter with the bread was delicious! The waiter was very friendly and entertaining. He helped with recommendations. They had a specialty drink helping raise money for cancer and it was so tasty! Also the seasonal salad was incredible! Tonight was our first night here and what a unique experience! We were welcomed by friendly staff to our patio table which we asked for in our reservation. Our table overlooked the beautiful Spokane River, all of the old brick buildings and bridges. A wedding was also taking place below which just added to the romantic date night we had! My family and I visited on Friday, October 25th, for dinner and it was a lovely time until a fire alarm started to go off repeatedly. We had just been served our appetizer and drinks at this time and then our waiter told us we needed to evacuate. Thankfully, we got some bites of our appetizer and some of our drink because we ended up being told we needed to wait outside until the fire fighters could turn off the alarm. Apparently, there is a bar with a fog machine that has been setting off the alarm lately. We were told 15 minutes later we could go back to our seat at anytime (with the alarm still going) but I'm 7 months pregnant and the alarm was so loud I didn't want to cause any issues and sitting with a loud alarm isn't how we wanted to enjoy our steak and gourmet meal so we continued to wait thinking it wouldn't be much longer. We saw a lot of people drive off and leave at this point but we thought we would wait it out since we already ordered our main dishes and it was 8:30pm at this time. It was really cold outside so I understand why people were impatient and I'm sure others walked away with a free dinner. The alarm finally went off and we went back to our table and at this point our drinks were melted which makes sense since we were waiting at least 30-40 minutes. When we were back at our table you could see the restaurant was cleared out and only some tables actually came back. The workers even looked like they were ready to close out and head home, bussing all the tables at once right around us. Our waiter finally came back and let us know our food would be reheated and wouldn't be much longer but it took at least another 20-30 minutes which was already really late. We regretted coming back to the restaurant at this point since we were all so tired and already waited so long. Thankfully our dishes were all great by the time we got them but we do think they remade everything since it took so long. When we received the check all that ended up being covered was the desserts we got. I would expect for the inconvenience of the night, watered down drinks, and how long the service ended up taking that more of our dinner would be been comped. We walked away disappointed we stayed after this experience, especially after paying $300+. The management should have done a better job to make sure anyone who stayed was well taken care of. Especially knowing they've dealt with this situation before. Hopefully they get the fire alarm issue figured out soon or else I wouldn't recommend dining there. If you do and this happens to you, just leave. It wasn't worth the price of the dinner to stick around and wait. read more

The falls are beautiful and we were greeted with friendly and helpful staff. My mother is in a wheelchair and they helped get us to get her through the restaurant to the back deck area. Prompt and super friendly service. The old-fashioned cocktail was lovely, plus the glass of local wine. We started with crab and artichoke appetizer and a bowl of clam chowder. I have been to this restaurant over 50 times and was looking forward to celebrating our 35th wedding anniversary there. Unfortunately it will be the last time I visit this establishment. My wife and I ordered our salads and entrees. They delivered the salads and after not having taken 3 bites they delivered the entrees! Not wanting our food to get cold we accepted them. The server didn't seem that concerned anyway. When the waitress finally returned to our table, my wife handed her the uneaten salad and said "you can take this and I would hope that I won't be charged for it." She went off on her merry way while I attempted to eat my undercooked, non seasoned piece of shoe leather that they call a Prime Rib. Really? It's that hard to cook Prime Rib? Something you have been famous for, for 30 years? After finishing our cold desert, the server came back and told us the manager hadn't yet approved the salad deduction. Finally she returned and said he approved it. Halleluja!! While exiting the building I saw the clueless manager and was going to speak to him but he was busy showing a busboy how to properly wipe down a table or something of the sort. Not wanting to interrupt something so important we left. In recounting our experience to a friend she said she had the same experience recently. There are a lot of good restaurants in Spokane. I haven't been to dinner at Clinkerdagger in years. I have gone for a few work lunches, but this was the first dinner in 25+ years. My friend and I went during Restaurant Week and so happy we did! We had their 3 course offering, for $44. I started with the Broadway Pea Salad, my friend started with their New England Clam Chowder. Both were fantastic. We both selected the same entree, 10oz Prime Rib It was divine. We were too full for our included dessert, so we took them to go. I opted for the Burnt Crème and my friend went with the Key Lime Pie. This spot is in an interesting old building. The staff was very kind and accommodating to my husband, who uses a walker. Unfortunately there are steps and tight corners throughout, but that's just a heads up to the mobility impaired. We had the crab artichoke dip, the bleu cheese salad, and the prime rib sandwich. All were VERY DELICIOUS and huge portions. We also had a couple of beers and a tasty cocktail. I wish we could have seen more of the view, but the bar turned out to be the easiest place for us to sit. The missing star is due to lack of accessibility.
