Went there for the first time last night. Service was wonderful and I had the lobster bisque which was amazing. My boyfriend had the chicken parm which he enjoyed. There was bread served with cheese and oil but the bread was very dry. I also had the Faroe Island Salmon as my main dish which had great ingredients but the salmon itself was way too salty. We live in the suburbs close to Boston so we weren't familiar with places to eat in Clinton. And we came across this restaurant for lunch and it is simply fabulous! The food is delicious, the service friendly and the atmosphere is upbeat with a terrific vibe. We liked it so much the first time that a few weeks later we drove an hour and went back for dinner. Went to Clinton bar and grille with my wife and a friend, expecting to get great food, excellent service, and a good atmosphere; especially considering the pricing of the food and drinks. We got the exact opposite. We sat out on the patio, and despite the restaurant being half empty, we still waited 15-20 minutes in between drinks; it felt like we were being a burden when asking to get the waitress out to us. My wife ordered the $34 filet, asked for it to be cooked medium. When it came out well done with basically no pink, we asked for it to be returned. A good restaurant would stop there, take the steak back, and cook it correctly. The manager at Clinton bar and grille apparently has others thoughts on how to address customer concerns. For after our waitress headed back into the restaurant with my wife's steak and complaint, he decided it was a good idea to return to the patio with the steak to berate my wife. In a show of dominance, in front of other customers, he pleaded that the way the steak was cooked was in fact medium, and if we wanted it rarer we should have asked for medium rare. My wife, feeling pressured, agreed for a medium rare steak to avoid causing a scene and the egotistical maniac retreated back into the restaurant with the fully cooked steak, feeling victorious I'm sure. When our waitress finally brought out my wife's new piece of steak, it was unsurprisingly well undercooked in a "I'll show you medium rare" type of retaliation. She ate the pieces she could and we went on our way. It was a terrible experience all the way through. The only pleasantry we received were from our waitress who despite having to deal with that asshole of a manager kept a smile on her face the whole time -kudos. We will not be going back. And I advise the lot of you to seriously reconsider heading to CBG when thinking about a nice place to have dinner, because it is NOT. read more

Our server Stepanie was really nice, and recommended basically the whole menu. She said the chef really knows what he's doing. I have to agree! ! We tried the new Zealand mussels in white wine and a beet salad. We also ordered the chicken marsala which was outstanding and the salmon with peas and artichoke. Everything was so tasty! ! Glad the restaurant we were going to try across the street was closed, this food was so delicious! It was a bit pricey for lunch but worth every penny. read more

When I confronted the host he told me that a table that was still seated was ours when it opened up. I told him we've been waiting 30 minutes. He says, I told your husband 40 minutes. Inexcusable. Unimpressed. I have been to this establishment three times, each time there's something fundamentally unsatisfactory about it. The first time I went the waitress brought me a beer that wasn't the beer that I asked for. The second time I went the wait staff was uninformed about the nature of dietary sensitivities and acted like I was strange for making requests for dairy-free food. It seems like it's a nice place, but it's so much window dressing on top of a fundamentally unimpressive experience. Not worth the $ they seem to feel they are entitled to charge. read more

Clinton's was close enough to Tower Hill Botanical Garden on a day trip recent visit with my daughter. Knowing zero about the town of Clinton, I'd say it's a great addition to the town dining scene, and short and pleasant drive from Tower Hill passing the Wachusett Reservoir. I made a reservation here on a summer weekday , which made my daughter laugh but when we arrived about 45 minutes early it was actually fairly busy though a reservation wasn't needed. We were treated by a friendly hostess who doubled as a waitress who sat us at a bright window table for two. We ordered cocktails and studied the large luncheon menu. We ordered the spinach and artichoke dip served with fresh warm pita chips followed by entrees of the chicken pesto sandwich and the eggplant parm. The spinach dip was mentioned in several reviews. We found it to be ok but nothing spectacular. Our waitress ( the hostess) also brought us some warm bread, dipping oil with seasoned parm cheese. I thought this was great and would skip the dip if we returned. Our entrees arrived in a timely manner and both were delicious. The chicken pesto sandwich was on a roll with lettuce, tomato, roasted peppers, pesto, mozzarella and a balsamic drizzle. I removed the tomato. It was the perfect blend of flavors. My daughter enjoyed her eggplant parm though we agreed it was a bit much for lunch. She took half home in a doggie bag, Service was attentive and friendly. We are and asked for dessert which was the chocolate cake. Was informed cake would take 20 mins. We hung in....took 30 minutes and ended up being overdone. Waitress took it off our bill. The kitchen is an open kitchen where you can see some of the main cooks with no mask on and one eating with his hands for the customers to see. Today this Resturant really showed what it is made of. Not only do they have suburb food , they know what it is like to take care of their customers. My mom is 89 years old and not always steady on her feet. I had made the reservation with a note that I would need help getting mom inside ( not sure if there was still ice/snow blocking the way). When I arrived there was no snow/ice but there was no close parking. I called in and told Carlos that I was there, he immediately came out and brought inside and seated her while I parked. I chose one star so I could wish upon it that I never entered the front doors of Clintons Bar & Grille. I would love to leave it at that but feel I owe my fellow Yelpers, particularly those who gave this place such high ratings, an explanation. So here is our experience. The full, completely honest experience is more than Yelp will allow - trust me, I tried to leave it all out here. A condensed version. The first observation I had was an average $25/plate restaurant in the midst of an incredibly depressed neighborhood. The front windows overlook a hardware store that was likely last updated in the early 70's. Next door is a thrift shop that likely gets its merchandise from Goodwill's rejects. Yet, in the midst of this utter depression exists an incredibly modern, thriving upscale restaurant. I would love to tell you everything about our experience but space limits me - trust me, I tried. We had the most atrocious experience with a server. He was not capable to serve the most basic menu. Despite an EXTENSIVE back and forth about the meal and the ingredients, my husband had an allergic reaction to what he was served. When I approached the manager, Albert, he was condescending and dismissive - to the point that he brought the kitchen slip to our table and tried to explain that it wasn't possible for there to be an allergic reaction to what my husband was fed - despite him being at the local pharmacy to counteract the reaction. I could honestly go on for paragraphs but Yelp won't let me. If you are interested in ordering something cookie-cutter, off the menu with absolutely not attention to anything else, this place might be okay. Expect HORRIBLE service and a management structure that doesn't care about dining experience or silly little thing like allergic reactions. Oh - in full disclosure, the manager proudly announced that they would take 50% off of the TOTAL bill, wine included. So, for $65, my family got two meals that were not edible and two ruined meals because my husband was in a full allergic reaction. Thanks. Thanks a lot of nothing. Not going back. read more

I'm torn on how many stars to give..... First let's start off with the food; the better part. They offer a warm fresh made yummy basket of bread with a parmesan and hot pepper with oil dipping sauce. The bread was excellent. We started out with a delicious order of mussels in a white wine, garlic, basil sauce to die for! Make sure you ask for extra bread for sopping up all that goodness! (Which we were never asked if we wanted extra bread) My husband had the LABSTAH ravioli. YUM! It looked like little nemo's swimming around in a wonderful béchamel sauce. The pasta is homemade. Or at least it tasted like that and there were chunks. I mean huge chunks of lobster just in the dish on top of being in the ravioli. Very good to say the least. I had the potato chip crusted haddock. Delicious! It was on top of a asparagus ricotta. I ate pretty much all of my plate! Yummy yummy in my tummy! You must try this dish if you like fish. A must! Now let's get to the not so good part of this place. First of all it is so friggin loud in there... I mean I could hardly hear my husband from across a small two seater table. The acoustics suck to say the least. I could never bring my parents there since one is deaf in one ear and the other is hard of hearing in one ear. I can just imagine how that conversation would go. When we sat down our waitress asked us for a drink order. That took fifteen minutes to bring. Then she didn't even ask if we wanted to place an app order before she quickly left for another fifteen minutes. App came (was amazing) but she never came back to ask if we needed anything or if it was ok. She finally came back to clear the plates and finally asked if it was ok and finally asked if we wanted another drink.... Meals came and as I stated were fabulous and again waitress missing. No ask if we wanted salt or fresh ground pepper. No asking if we needed anything. No asking if it was good. Nothing. She was MIA! Ad et about half a meal gone she comes over to check on us. We asked for more bread. Well, do you think we got it!? NOPE!!!! We watched and counted her passing our table to and from kitchen 5!!!yes 5 times! And they have runners that bring bread and the food to their tables.... Seriously. Too busy to bring bread. That's tright she told us how many tables she had and how busy she was.... Don't care. I have waited and bussed tables back in the day. No excuses bust your ass and make everyone happy. Oh and another thing, she should smile at least once. It makes people feel good and happy! Food very good. Great. Wonderful! The chef is amazing. BUT.... Work on that waitstaff and noise level. Even though the food was fabulous I'm not sure I would go back there again considering the price of our meals. Very pricey for the service and the ambiance of this place. read more

We were there last week with friends from Italy - pretty high standard when it comes to food. Everybody was impressed. From The appetizers to the main courses and dessert the food was outstanding. We have eaten here a few times and keep coming back. I'd recommend coming during the week: the weekends are packed and you may have to wait despite reservations and the service can be a little slow. I promise to be kind yet honest because I think this place has potential but I just had a very poor experience. I visited last night to bring my mother out for dinner after a rough week, she just lost a close friend and I though a nice dinner would be a treat. Overall the menu had a bit of everything, presentation is great, service was ok, noise level through the roof! Interpretation of the price tag is up to you - especially for Clinton. I called ahead and reserved a spot despite the 15 minute wait time. When arriving the line was long and we waited roughly 15 minutes in line to be acknowledged at the front desk despite calling ahead. We arrived waited to get water, a while later our waitress came over for our drink order followed by ordering the scollop appetizer. It came roughly 30 minutes later and was cooked perfectly, great presentation yet included three scollops. It would be nice to see 4 or 6 - yes I know the price would change but their prices are steep for three scallops and other plates. Unfortunately our entree orders were not put into the system until the appetizer was finished - this is the first time I have every heard of this. Due to this we waited an hour or more after completing the appetizer for our food to arrive. I nicely asked the waitress how long it would be - she asked "why are you in a hurry?". I responded "no yet three or more tabled received their entrees prior to us despite us being here before the other groups." It was then she mentioned that those tables didn't have appetizers and entrees are not ordered until you complete the appetizer. We continued to wait! It was TOO noisy to even talk across the table to my mother, and she's not the quiet type. Due to the high ceiling, lack of acoustical panels, busy Friday crowd and a loud party of woman on the mezzanine level it was a bit much. The waitress said 15, then 5 minutes for entrees. The salmon arrived plated well, cooked on the outside yet raw all the way through. The sea bass was cooked properly and plated well with a root vegetable stew that my mother enjoyed. I don't like to make a fuss so I called over the waitress and mentioned my salmon was raw after cutting it in multiple sections to check. The chef offered me a shrimp cocktail, I declined because I don't eat raw shrimp, the waitress later offered free desert - I declined because after two hours in this ridiculously noisy place I just wanted to go home! I got the check and just bit my lip, don't get me wrong I've dined everywhere from the Mandarin Oriental hotel, Toro, and Top of the Hub in Boston to chains and food trucks. I understand price but after doing the math to me the poor atmosphere, portion sizes and experience wasn't worth the price tag. We will see if they make the 5 year mark - the true obstacle in the restaurant business. read more

Over priced flavorless food! I ordered the steak special and not only was it waaaaaay overpriced ($55 and did not find out until after we ordered it) it took over an hour to get, was flavorless and over cooked. The edges were gamy. It did not come with a side, so I ordered the sweet potato. I was hesitant because it was a $7 sweet potato. I thought maybe they cook it a special way with special seasoning...nope! Not only was it not seasoned it was only a HALF of a sweet potato!!! I bought 10 sweet potatoes that day for less than this half of flavorless sweet potato!! This place acted like it was in the middle of NYC, but it is in Clinton, MA. Not going back! The only saving grace was our waiter. He was awesome and he comped part of my steak. He really tried to save our experience and totally agreed that the food was over priced. read more

I went there with my father last night for an early dinner. The staff was friendly and our drinks came right away. While we were looking over the menu, some fresh, still warm bread was brought out as they hand-mixed some seasonings with olive oil. Nice touch. I had the braised short ribs with orzo and it was cooked perfectly. The meat was flavorful and tender and the orzo was just right. Great dining experience and would suggest it to anyone. read more

After our 5th major snowstorm in 3 weeks, my wife and I ventured out to the Clinton bar and Grill. My wife and friends had been there prior and raved about it. When we entered we were greeted by Carlos who made us feel very welcome and was genuinely glad we had come. The space is done very well. It's very open, plenty of seating, while the table spacing provided more than ample room. The lighting is subtle but done very well. It's a colorful but done right, not too much. We were seated at a very nice booth and our server Lucas offered us sparkling water and drinks. Lucas was awesome. He was right there when we needed him bot not intrusive at all. He had a very positive attitude and you could see he enjoys his job. A+ for service. The appetizers came, Butternut raviolis, Truffled Scallops and the White Bean soup. I make my own raviolis and we've had them at some of the best places in Rome as well as other places. These are the best we've ever eaten. I can go on but I'd recommend you just get them. The Scallops, absolutely delicious and well presented. The soup was delicious and we ended bringing most of that home. My wife had the Short Ribs and proclaimed these are the best she's had. I thought I cooked the best ribs, but guess not. I tasted them and would agree these are spectacular. My entrée was a special, Confit of duck over a duck ragu. Normally this is served over Pasta. But I asked for it with Asparagus instead. (keeping off the Carbs). Lucas assured me it would be no bother. Oh WOW, you would think they made it this way all the time. If you like Duck you'll like this. Although too full for desert, next time we'll save room as the menu looked outstanding. I highly recommend The Clinton Bar and Grill. It's well done, food is as fine and tasteful as any restaurant you'd visit and the service/attitude was outstanding. read more

Horrible service & probably racist. If you're a local or a regular, you'll get good service, but if you're 'non-white', you'll be ignored (by a particular waitress). Our experience is below. Needless to say that we'll never be going back and in fact, today I just convinced a few of my friends to stay away from this place. After being seated for 15 mins, we asked the waitstaff to call our server, who showed up 5 mins after and said she'll be right back. 5 mins later she comes back with a jug of water and completely blows by our table to serve another table, takes their order and completely avoids our table, by which time we had enough & decided to leave. I've been here 5-6 times and it's good, but overpriced. $20 for a hamburger and fries? $74 for a steak? Too much. They also are not allergy friendly. No gluten free menu, nor indications on the regular menu of what could be made gluten free, and the waitress seemed annoyed when I asked if certain dishes were. It's a common allergy and it would show they care about customers to print out a couple gluten free menus to have on hand. read more

By far my favorite restaurant in central Massachusetts! I highly recommend the clam chowder, the spinach and artichoke dip, the potato chip encrusted haddock over asparagus risotto, the short rib sandwich, chicken parmesan, chicken marsala and the bread pudding! The bread pudding is absolutely unreal! Great place to bring family and friends, but make sure you make a reservation in advance. This restaurant is very busy on Friday and Saturday nights so you definitely need a reservation.
