Went there last Sunday for lunch. The place was basically empty so the fact that it took 50 minutes from the time we sat down until the time our icy cold waitress who was devoid of any personality and less than friendly brought over some bread and oil and my starter (but neglected to bring my husband's starter) was quite pathetic! And shockingly, our waitress offered no apologies. When my husband's white bean soup starter came 15 minutes after I received my starter (which was now finished), the kitchen rep reactively apologized for the soup delay (in response to our complaint) and blamed it on the fact that they make everything from scratch. But when I pointed out that the customer seated directly behind me who arrived at the restaurant 30 minutes after we did, had already received and was almost done with HIS white bean soup, he went quiet and looked embarrassed. When our entrees finally arrived 80-85 minutes (this is no exaggeration) after we were first seated (we ordered our entrees at the same time we ordered our starters), we were anxious to eat and get out of there as we really needed to get on with our day versus being held hostage any longer in this neglectful environment. The icing on the cake? After all that time spent waiting for our food service and the 1 hour and 25 minutes sitting in ignored anticipation of getting my cheeseburger and my husband getting his short rib sandwich, it was almost laughable when they plopped down a pastrami sandwich in front of my husband which is not what he ordered! They managed to screw up our simple, basic sandwich order and there were less than 5 other tables occupied in the restaurant - in other words - it was far from busy! We promptly stood up and left, telling the host we were not willing to sit around for any MORE time and wait for the kitchen to prepare the correct order for my husband. The host was apologetic for this dining debacle and followed us out to our car, begging us to give the restaurant another shot someday in the future. We told him that the entire experience put such a bad taste in our mouths that we can guarantee that we will not be willing to give Clintons another shot! We then proceeded to the Rail Trail in Hudson for what was now a "late" lunch. The place was packed. We were promptly greeted by a warm smile, shown two seats at the bar and quickly tended to by a super friendly bartender team. And best of all, our lunch orders were delivered with amazing efficiency and the food was delicious! Very creative menu. We wished we had gone to the Rail Trail in the first place versus experiencing the amateur scene at Clintons as described above. read more

3.5 stars. Would be a perfect 5 if they had an experienced bar staff. One bartender was friendly enough, but didn't know the difference between a porter and an IPA. Another bartender is very slow and doesn't appear to know the drink menu. I was put off a bit when customer at the bar ordered a classic cocktail that was missing an ingredient. When they asked for it, bartender was condecending and said that ingredient didn't belong in that cocktail and pulled out a laminated cheat sheet. The customer was right, but bar staff insisted they weren't. The food is delicious and is a nice change of pace for Clinton. The lobster mac and cheese is rich and the perfect portion. Grilled pizzas are crunchy on the outside and chewy in the middle. Greek salads are huge and filling. Prices are higher than normal for the area, but you get your money's worth. Manager is visible and cares about people's experience. If this place tightens up the bar, it's a gem. read more

The food is delicious, nice portions, nice wine selection, the bread is amazing. My only complaint is we had wait almost an hour before waitstaff noticed we were done and to get the check. We declined dessert due to this long wait. This was our 5th time time eating at this restaurant and have always enjoyed the atmosphere and the food but regretfully have to say not sure if we would return due to slow service. read more

We stopped for appetizers and a glass of wine. We ordered the Calamari with marinara and feta...this is hands down best calamari I have ever had. So very tender just amazing. We also had the butternut squash ravioli- vest complex blend of flavors -very good as well. We ordered a Vesper martini, not many can make this, it was amazing thanks to Travis. Our server Amy was friendly and very helpful! We were greeted by the general manager, what a pleasure to speak to. This is restaurant is definitely on our must go to list. read more

We chose Clintons because the location was a good halfway meeting place for us coming from different directions and I had heard good things. It didn't disappoint. Very upscale in an unexpected area. The service was terrific. Just the right amount of attentiveness... not too much not too little. The bread and dipping oil blend was yummy, although I think the bread had too many herbs on it. Just my preference. I had the ceasar salad and the butternut squash ravioli as a light lunch entree. Both were terrific, although the ravioli was a tad too sweet. My friend had the steak tips which she said were tasty, tender and cooked as requested. The creme brulee dessert was superb and large enough to share. Planning my next trip. If there were half stars, would give it 4.5. oh, friend's cole slaw was good but had an unexpected flavor. Too much vinegar perhaps? It reminded me of pickles. read more

Bad oyster! We've been here a 100 times and it is usually ok. Pre-covid we wouldn't go if we had to sit in the main dining room - we go for the bar-window area instead as there is 0 noise mitigation. When it was busy, and it was frequently very busy in the before time, you had to shout to the person sitting across from you. They never (very rarely) vary what they serve, but last week they had oysters on the half shell, which we'd never seen in the years we've been going there - I always get oysters, and have consumed about a thousand at restaurants. Got 6, the first one tasted foul and there was brown stuff on the shell. Geez, I thought. This could be a problem. Bad oysters can cause a lot of harm, although not frequently. I tried another one and spit it out, although it was possible that the first one had still been on my palate. Server said the chef said they'd been on ice. They were shucked properly, at least the 1.5 I had. (Side note- they were served with cocktail sauce! Who eats oysters with cocktail sauce?) Too bad. Rest of dinner was pretty good. And it was quiet as it was early and in the bar window area. We'll be back, but won't be ordering raw seafood again at CBGs. read more

We drop by Clinton's Bar and Grille fairly often. The food is unfailingly impressive, and the service is superior. My husband is "special needs" with both mobility and vision challenges, and his diet. The staff is very kind and attentive so we always find something he can enjoy. People rave about the Lobster Mac n Cheese, and I'm happy to say I found out why the rave last night. I can also say I think the steak is well worth the splurge. And the creme brulee is actually a brulee -- lovely custard and truly crunchy top. We haven't had anything that wasn't great yet -- the chef must be very talented. read more

My wife and I were in Clinton looking at paint, and the nearest Benjamin Moore outlet that happened to be open on Sunday was Aubuchon Hardware, across from the Bar & Grille. It was lunch, so we decided to cross the street and check it out--we're extremely glad we did! Our waiter was extremely attentive (Josh, if I recall) and had excellent recommendations. We shared the goat cheese salad (incredible) and the grilled buffalo chicken pizza--AMAZING. The grilled pizza is easily big enough for two--we ended up taking some home. They also serve fresh baked bread with a dipping sauce made at your table from parmesan, red pepper, and oil--make sure you try it! The general manager came over and talked with us, and both he and the waiter were friendly and attentive. We'll definitely be back. read more

Total Surprise ! We met some friends for dinner there last night, while driving to the place i was saying to my partner...are we really going to Clinton for dinner ? i was honestly a little annoyed. When i turned the corner i realized i had been to this downtown scene a few years back, not for food i might ad - the vintage Aubuchon hardware store with it's striped awning across the street from the restraint is like a throw back from the 50's - very cool. Anyhow - walk inside and get ready for some very smart decor..hip and up to the minute...We were greeted by the Gm who was as big as life, warm, friendly and real. The environment is a little SOHO and very inviting. We had Stephanie as our server who was not a let down. Every single item we had was Top Notch foodie fit - spot on. A shear delight and tasty experience. Without a doubt we are going back. Clinton - who would have thought ? well worth a little drive. Bravo ! read more

Tried out the Clinton Grill. It was very good. The bread and oil with cheese was exceptional. I had the Margarita pizza. It was a little small for my liking but the crust was crispy and delicious. Free refills on soft drinks and the only real drawback was that the tea/lemonade was a little watery. The bathrooms were quite clean which usually points to a clean kitchen. A little pricey for some of the entrees but all in all a good experience. read more

Service was Horrible! My husband and I didn't even get to try the food. We checked in with the Host and was told "15 mins tops" for a table. We went to the bar and had a drink. The people next to us had a salad and a meal before we got called for our table. The Host said our table was ready so we paid up at the bar. Waited for the Bartender but he was oblivious so we left the appropriate money and tip. We had to wait again for what was suppose to be a ready table. After 8 more mins, we were seated. Server came over and told us her name, Andrea, and said if we have any questions about the menu to let her know. We decided what we wanted and proceeded to wait 10 mins for Andrea to come back. She was cashing people out and talking to people at the bar. We got tired of waiting for her so we left. Place is not that big and was very noisy inside but food looked good. It was busy when we arrived but not that busy when we left. Just wish it didn't take so long to get a meal. Won't be going back. Do not be fooled by the name. bar and grill is an understatement. the food was great and well above bar food. 4 of us went in not expecting what we received. they sat us promptly. we ordered first round of drinks and then the apps. we ordered clam chowder, scallops and shrimp. both Apps awesome. so many clams in the clam chowder unlike most places where it is all broth and celery and potatoes. bread was served and was freshly made. we had two servings brought to the table throughout the time there. our main meals were 2 each lobster ravioli dishes, 1 each shrimp and pasta and 1 each veal marsala. all main meals were hot and delicious and again the service and timing for waiting was great. for desert the table shared a chocolate cake with ice cream and raspberry sauce. it was worth the wait. they made it when we ordered so we had drinks and waited 15 min for it. well worth the wait. the waiter told us ahead of time we would wait due to it being made upon ordering. the service was great. wine was properly chilled all drinks were made well. nothing under poured. we will be visiting there many times as long as service ad food maintain what we experienced last night. we paid 204 plus we tipped 20% and it was well worth it in our opinions. i cannot remember the waiters name but he was great, friendly and took care of all his customers with no issue. i observed him as he was conducting his mission around the diners. Went here with my girlfriend for a nice dinner, I was overly surprised with the place. The atmosphere was great the wait staff was better and the food the best thing yet. I highly recommend checking this place out. To end the night our waiter highly recommended the bread pudding which I normally am not a fan of however the waiter actually said if I didn't like it he would pay for it out his pocket needless to say it was superb make sure you finish your dinner off with it. read more

lunch recently....wee a little concerned over the variety of reviews but it was a cloudy day so we needed a little ride......this place was great, decor was very nice and over all if this place were in boston it would be mobbed, well it wasn't but that's ok and it was pretty busy.....we ate at the bar and travis was our very good bar tender, drinks were very good and they have a great variety of liquors and 7 or 8 drafts, we had the calamari as and app with the feta and it was wonderful, probably as good as we have had anywhere, i had a burger, very good and wife had the beet salad, small, but very good....really a great place for central mass and a surprise for us....we really enjoyed it, give it a try!!!! read more

I am 100% disappointed with the host AL. Unfortunately I had to deal with him for a 2nd time. I was hoping maybe this experience would have been better than my first but it was worse. My party and I actually got up and left because we couldn't shake the rude and disrespectful behavior of the host. He ruined our experience in an instant. Instead of replying to my question with a simple "I'm sorry, we cannot move you to a different table" he replied very rudely and arrogantly. He told me if I had a job that paid him $88,000 maybe he would consider changing my table to the empty one in the corner, only then would it be worth it to him. He not only said it once, he said it twice. I will not return to this restaurant unless I know for a fact this asshat of an employee will not be working. read more

On the way back from a visit to Providence, my wife and I stopped to dine at Clinton's. We sat at the bar where the service was excellent. I had the excellent clam chowder and we split a very good chicken parm. Only complaint was the cold air blowing on my neck making it uncomfortable for about half of our visit. Friday night approx 7:00. Went to Clintons tonite. Gave it one more try before writing them off all together. I was very disappointed once again and for the last time. After waiting and watching the hischit chat 2 feet away and never being greeted, we were seated at the last two stools at the bar by a very nice hostess. I don't usually mind the bar, but this was like sitting in the middle of the service bar. Noisy, busy, couldn't hear our own conversation, but we sure heard the staff's. We waited an unreasonable amount of time before we were even greeted by one of the two bartenders. Let me say that I have been in the restaurant business most of my life. I've waitressed, tended bar, hired, fired, and managed. I am fully aware of what good service should entail. Tonight's experience was extremely disappointing. Both bartenders were busy, yes, but when a bartender tells you they will get your check (which we had to ask for with dirty dishes in front of us) after she "makes 10 drinks", it's a little more than annoying. On top of that we were made to feel very uncomfortable when the two bartenders were whispering behind the check book, obviously about us. I ordered a shrimp and pasta dish and the wine sauce was cloyingly sweet. I ate the shrimp but couldn't eat the pasta. My date ordered the Marsala and enjoyed it. I wouldn't be writing this had the service been any where near up to par. But an expensive dinner that I didn't enjoy on top of piss poor service prompted this missive. Best dining outside of Boston, and the staff ROCKS! I've sampled most of the menu and its seriously the best! It can easily be compared to abe and louis or del friscos. Food is good but pricey for Clinton. Service is typically slow unless you eat at the bar. Management turnover recently is concerning as those in the roles previosly were a pleasure and added to a positive dining experience. It is very noisy and as a diner in this eatablisment numerous times only cause we are local and do to want to drive 25 minutes after work for a decent meal wish the chef would switch up the menu after a year. Suggestions such as offer specials, switch up appetizers or sides anything to keep it fresh and seasonal. read more

The food is okay but the manager is very rude and loves to false advertise to customers. My mother and I ordered takeout and he told us that that our meals would be $16 a piece and charged us $18. I complained and told him that on the website it lists $16 and he also confirmed on the phone that they would be $16. Instead of changing the total price he just said, "I'll change it (the website) tomorrow." Overall, rude and arrogant environment and the food is over priced. A few days ago I walked in and no one greeted me, so I sat up front for 2 minutes and decided to just go to the bar. I grabbed a seat and ordered the haddock. The haddock was good, but as i was enjoying my meal, i was disturbed when an employee brought back food from another customer and the chef immediately slammed the plate and was yelling so half the restaurant could hear. The bartender was friendly, but overall not pleased with the management for not giving attention to their guests as I see them sitting chit chatting with customers not paying attention to the new guests walking in. I signed up for Yelp specifically to write this review. I tried to tip Carlos at the front desk for a job well done but he didn't accept my tip, and instead simply requested that I come back for dinner again sometime and that would be thanks enough.. He is great at what he does and deserves some recognition! It was my wife's birthday, so I dropped off flowers at the restaurant around 1pm and made a 6pm reservation. After being shown to our table, Carlos discreetly asked if I wanted the flowers brought up, remembering me from 5 hours prior even in the midst of a busy dinner hour. In between courses he came over to wish her a happy birthday, never interrupting while we were eating. Service aside, this place is awesome. The biggest complaint I had heard prior to giving it a shot over the weekend was that it was overpriced, and yes, you might pay an extra $1-$2 for your meal than you would in other area restaurants. The food is well worth it. I got the sirloin which was cooked perfectly (and exactly how I asked for it), my only complaint with dinner is that I was unable to bribe the waitress or chef into telling me what the sauce they serve with the steak was. The place was really starting to get busy as we finished our meals, I did not enjoy other guests standing behind me to the point where I had to ask them to move so I could get out of my seat, but it's my own fault because I requested a table by the window (which was near the bar). tl; dr 5 out of 5, will definitely be back. read more

We had my daughter in-laws baby shower here this evening. The atmosphere, food (variety of apps, pizza, salad and side dishes) and service were all outstanding. I will be back to have dinner here in the very near future. read more
