This is a nice restaurant in downtown Clinton. I was here for lunch and had the short rib sandwich with sweet potato fries. The short ribs were great, with a nice tangy topping (I believe a kind of slaw but I'm not sure) and a very good bun. My friends also enjoyed their meals. Good-looking cocktail, wine, and beer list. Prices are a little steeper than you'd expect in Clinton but this place is also better than you'd expect. When I'm here visiting my family this will be my go-to. read more

It's good. The menu has a nice eclectic selection. The atmosphere is very nice and relaxed. Everything was prepared and presented well. Many other reviews seem to complain about price--and that's accurate. Relatively speaking it is a little pricey, but I never complain about price if the food is good. The food is very good. For two of us with two drinks each the bar bill was $50. However, a superb martini and after two I pretty much floated out. I had the short ribs which were excellent. Wife had a Cosmo which she is very particular about-- first was par, but the super responsive bar tender asked and listened and the second was perfect. Also a nice beer selection. I had the short ribs which were very good. My only recommendation to management is it is plated on a large heap of orzo. Good, but too much. Would have preferred a veggie side or something to round it out with less of the giant orzo bed. All in all, We like It and will go back often. read more

My husband and I went to the grille for the first time. We actually got a very generous Christmas gift and decided to pair the gift card with comedy night across the street at the Strand. We made reservations for 7:45 and were seated 30 minutes later. Hey, no one can say truly when a seat is going to become available so we had no problem hanging out. We were greeted by a very jovial gent who offered to take our pic! He was very attentive and overly concerned about seating us. The grille is so nicely appointed more on the industrial side with a splash of vintage! Great feeling. It was loud, upbeat, and just fun! The waiter was very nice and attentive. My husband got chicken parm which looked very delicious with an average portion size.. I got the pork chop which was very forgettable. Somewhat dry with a breadcrumb and horseradish dressing which was extremely bland. The salads were delicious and so fresh!!! Please know that salads are a la carte. I saw burgers, fish and steaks being served to the patrons. They looked delicious. I was happy to see people looking so nice (not dressed up) but more like business casual. Great new place to bring friends. With a few simple pops and a meal accompanied with a salad dinner was $86.00 plus $20 tip. The waiter asked me how the meal was ( I left 1/2 of my meal) and I told him it was very dry and not tasty. His response was "oh sorry to hear that.", took my dish and brought the bill. My opinion is if you don't care, don't ask. All waiters should be empowered to offer a complimentary coffee and desert. I am not a desert person so I wasn't looking for anything more than "how can we mak this up to you?" I would have asked him to give the chef my comments. That's all. I would definitely go back, I would not recommend the chop and would be excited to try something else. read more

This is a fabulous restaurant. We brought our out of town cousins last night and were incredibly happy with the experience. Our waitress Stephanie was incredibly knowledgable about every offering! Service was perfect. The food was out of this world. I had the best filet mignon ever and my husband was thrilled with his wonderful steak. Our cousins had the scallops, haddock and lamb. We went here on Valentine's Day, so it was a little busier than usual. We didn't have a reservation, but we were able to get a table after about a 10 minute wait. The service was a little slow due to the amount of people, but the food was well worth the wait. We had the salmon and the oven roasted chicken. Everything tasted fresh and well cooked. My husband and I ate here last Friday night for the first time. Nice atmosphere, and great down to earth waitress. Spinach and artichoke dip was very yummy, and the bread was too. I got the chicken parmesan with linguini. Very good size portion and very good tasting. I prefer my chicken parm to be thinner and crispier, but that is my preference. My husband got the swordfish which he just loved and enjoyed eating every bite. We ordered the bread pudding to share, but wished I got my own because it was out of this world! We can't wait to try the burgers, buffalo chicken appetizer, and pizza! We are looking forward to our next dinner there. read more

Excellent hostess staff. Everything went downhill from there. Inattentive barstaff coupled with high end steak house cocktail prices. Our party had to wave down a bartender, repeatedly, to order. It took 10 minutes to cash out our bar tab. At the dinner table the waiter was completely out of his league. For the cost of dinner, one should expect high end service. Our soup and salad came out before our appetizers, and our entrees didn't come out together. We had empty bowls, plates, and cocktail glasses building up. And then there was the food. Perfunctory, at best. The clam chowder was midwest in profile and the haddock was quick casual in conception. I can't remember the last time I needed to ask for salt and pepper for a $57 steak. Avoid this place if you are a.) Picking up the tab with your own money, b.) Picking up the tab with someone else's money, c.) Expect the service to remotely align with the prices. read more

The food here is incredible! Seared scallop over parsnip purée and wedge with blue were fine, but the fresh bread really pleased. The wife's filet mignon was perfectly seasoned, charred, and med rare. My recommended swordfish over seasonal risotto was one of the best I've had. The reason for the three stars is for their service, we've been here three times always and every time the service has always been slow and at times not friendly. This place never disappoints! We have eaten in establishments all over the US and Europe and this place (in Clinton, Massachusetts!), is right there among the top of our favorites list. If you are fortunate to live within driving's distance, you must visit this true gem. Be sure to try the mussels (when they are in season) and the calamari as starters. Then try their steaks - sublime! Make a reservation as they are always crowded. The only minor negative is that the acoustics are such that it is a bit loud inside the restaurant. Great cocktails, good pizzas, filet ($30) is fair - small and the demi served on the side wasn't very flavorful. Great bread pudding. Apple crisp was fair - too much ginger. Creme brulee was ok. Overall it was a mediocre experience. Won't go back for the steak but may go back for apps and drinks. Also, we had a 7 pm reservation and didn't sit until 7:20 and food took well over an hour to arrive. I'm a demanding customer, and the primary cook ( with a flair) at home. Given that, I seldom find a restaurant that warrants a review unless it's either real bad OR really good. Clinton's is one of the finest restaurants I've been to in the region in many years. We ate on a Sunday afternoon. The restaurant is beautifully appointed and comfortable, though the high ceilings make it a bit noisy. (They say that they're working on it ....). This is simply a lovely escape tucked away in a semi rural mill town. The menu is broad and creative , from appetizer to dessert. Prices are consistent with atmosphere, selection, portion and quality. If you want fast food or pub price, there's a Subway right next door.. Service was excellent - at your table when you need your server, available yet unobtrusive when you don't. Informative, pleasant and attentive. The GM came by at the end to check in and was open to suggestions, though only one was needed - warm the bread and the plates. If others read this review, have the same great experience, the restaurant will live long and prosper. Wife and I ate there Fri eve 6/3. Took sidewalk table. Waiter was nice but service was bad. Wife ordered glass of wine, after 1/2 hour waiter finally came back out, reminded him about the wine. Meantime dinner was 1/2 gone. Never saw him again. He told us he had 6 tables inside, 1 outside so we got very little attention. I had to go inside and ask hostess to find him so we could finally get our bill and leftover box. Food was good but for the $$$ our expect good service and no excuses. Wow! Everything about this place, from the food to the service, is to die for. Check the menu! Everything is incredible. Sometimes when I go to a casual restaurant I end up feeling like my own cooking would have been a better experience, but this is not the case here. This chef has serious talent, and as our waitress informed us he cooks every dish himself!. There is no sacrifice made here on an honest perfection of cooking, yet the staff somehow makes it work and every drink, bread, appetizer, entree, and desert came out prompt. Actually I have only had a consistent problem with one waitstaff. Amy was a hostess & then waitstaff. She is actually the reason I don't frequent this establishment at lunch. She's rude,snarky with an attitude that does not belong in any workplace. If she has personal problems she should leave them at home.
