I am both dissatisfied with the service department at this dealership and the 2015 VW Golf Sportwagon that I purchased from the Michael dealership in Fresno. Their service department moved to Clovis... In the past year, I have spent over 7,000 on repairs for this vehicle. Many are the result, I am sure, of the substandard vehicle. Many are the result of price gouging - how does a car need so many repairs in terms of leaks when it is being serviced faithfully and having multi point inspections each time? How do they miss such crucial issues? The service agent recommended that I purchase a new car, as my particular model is known to have these issues at the mileage that I have now attained - 132,000. I will keep the car for a while longer, but have it serviced elsewhere. I am pretty sure that I will end up not paying this much moving forward and have better outcomes...and if not, I will follow the advice of this particular service agent. read more

Our recent purchase experience with Volkswagen of Clovis was frustrating and concerning in several ways. I'm sharing this in hopes that dealership management will review the situation and address some of the issues that occurred. Before visiting the dealership, we negotiated the majority of the deal via email. We specifically asked whether they could match the $5,250 manufacturer bonus being offered on the 2025 model year vehicles (the previous model year). After reportedly speaking with the general manager, we were told the best they could offer was $3,900. Based on that information, we agreed to move forward and drove 50 miles to the dealership with our two toddler boys, expecting to sign paperwork and be in and out quickly. Instead, we spent about four hours at the dealership after being told their network was down and they were unable to generate the paperwork. What made this more frustrating was discovering that the very next day the dealership began advertising $5,000 discounts in addition to the manufacturer bonus on the same model year vehicle we had just purchased. That raised questions about the information we were given during negotiations. The financing portion of the process was also concerning. We have excellent credit, yet we were placed into a 7.79% loan. We were told the lender only provided the dealership with a $200 incentive, but the same financial institution was publicly advertising rates around 4.19% at the time. Because the rate didn't align with our expectations for our credit profile, we refinanced the loan ourselves within a week. Another issue during financing was that we were told our interest rate could potentially be lowered if we agreed to purchase the extended warranty and GAP coverage. We declined these products, but tying loan terms to the purchase of optional add-ons felt inappropriate and concerning. There were also several operational issues. We were told the detailer was not available that day, which was surprising given that it was a Saturday and the last day of the month, typically one of the busiest sales days for dealerships. As a result, we drove away in a vehicle that had not been properly cleaned, including sticky cup rings left in the cup holders. Finally, we were supposed to receive two keys, but were initially given only one. After going back inside to ask for the second key, we were given another one. However, after we drove the hour back home, the dealership called to inform us they had actually given us the wrong key entirely, belonging to a different vehicle. We have now gone almost a full week with only one working key and will have to spend additional time driving back to the dealership to correct the mistake. Overall, the experience involved miscommunication, delays, questionable financing transparency, and several preventable oversights. Purchasing a vehicle should be a professional and straightforward process, and unfortunately this experience was anything but. I hope dealership management will review these issues and reach out to address the situation. A good-faith effort to resolve the inconveniences and concerns would certainly go a long way. read more

This Volkswagen dealership needs serious corporate attention. There is a white man who works in the service department and previously worked at another Volkswagen dealership before being transferred to this one. He is extremely deceptive. These people tampered with my vehicle and then demanded that I buy new parts from them. I have actual proof that there was nothing wrong with my vehicle. I only went in for an oil change, yet they insisted I needed to purchase a brand-new battery--despite the fact that I had just bought one a month ago. I declined and explained why I refused to buy a new battery. Shortly after, they tampered with my battery, and my car wouldn't start when I was at the grocery store later that day. I called the dealership, extremely upset and frustrated, and they told me to tow the vehicle back to them and purchase a new battery from them. Instead, I took my vehicle to the place where I originally purchased the brand-new battery. The associate there confirmed that someone at the Volkswagen dealership had disconnected and loosened the fasteners, causing my vehicle not to start. I reported the issue to corporate, and they said they would look into it. This is just a warning for anyone reading this. The individual responsible is an older Caucasian man who works in the service department. On the other hand, the Latin gentleman at the dealership has always been very nice and respectful and has worked there for a long time. However, the white man who was transferred from the other dealership is the problem. I remember visiting the old dealership and disliking the service there because of this specific individual. When they closed that location, they moved him to the only remaining Volkswagen dealership in Fresno, and now he is making things worse here. To avoid dealing with him, I now drive to Bakersfield for service because their team is absolutely superb. I highly recommend the Bakersfield dealership. However, Volkswagen corporate needs to remove this individual from the Fresno location because he is deceptive and manipulative. To anyone reading this, understand that I wouldn't take the time to write all of this if it weren't true. Please be aware. By the way, I love Volkswagen, and my car is amazing--but they need to fire that man. read more

We brought our Touareg in because the ACC warning alarm was going off when Cruise Control was engaged. Charged us $1100 for a " Recalibration" which silenced the alarm for about a month. When the alarm went off again we brought it back, they said they said the ACC alarm malfunctioned due the LED DRL being out. They recommended replacing the headlamp @$2500. (this was previously quoted at $1600 only a month prior) They could not provide a satisfactory as to why the increase in price. What we later discovered was the radar sensors in the ACC could simply be turned off and switched into normal cruise control via the driver console mode at a cost of zero. For a 9 year old vehicle it didnt seem prudent to replace the entire headlamp when another mechanic can fix the DRL LED with an inexpensive kit at fraction of the cost. We will never return to this dealer as they are dishonest and only driven by the profit at the customers expense. read more

Just purchased a used Volkswagen with 23k miles less than a year ago and we've had nothing but problems with VW. Car has been in there shop a total of 40 plus days in last 9 months . We have taken it back eight or nine times and they can't get it right from the AC to the tires to the engine light on. We had a small oil leak and the mechanic topped it off four times before I had to tell them that was enough and it needed to be fixed. They found the problem finally and it took them over 30 days for us to get our car back and when we did it was absolutely filthy inside and out. It was fully detailed when we took it in, sad... They still haven't fixed the AC problem, the heater, the radio that keeps going blank screen and the passenger seatbelt problem. After all this they said they can look at each problem but it's going to cost $235 each problem lol stay away!!! We were just 30 minutes away from our hotel in Fresno for a conference when the check engine light came on and our car started shaking. In a panic, we searched for the nearest VW dealer, and Clovis was the closest option. I called and spoke with Joe, who told us to bring the car in. We arrived on Wednesday at 3 PM and explained that we were only in town until Friday. To make a long story short, Joe and his team diagnosed the issue Thursday morning, informed me it was covered under an emissions warranty, and assured me it would be ready by 2:30 PM. I can't thank them enough for their quick diagnosis and speedy repairs. We'll be back on the road as planned and had a great experience overall. read more

I took my 2020 Tiguan in for no cold air blowing in my A/C, road ready special and reset my SOS light. They told my husband and I that they would need to run a diagnostic which is $235 and would be a 2-3 day wait because they are backed up and no loaners. Their lack of planning and scheduling is not our problem. We also found out that we have Drive Easy Platinum extended warranty and any repairs would most likely be covered. We did not know we even had this warranty which goes back to our buying process here, which is another review for another day.. Now, upon my husband pushing we were able to get a loaner. Turns out the freon was low and need to be refilled for $91 before they could continue the diagnostic. They refilled and added dye to check for leaks. VW reported no leaks but why was the freon so low? The price my husband was told was more that quoted and they didn't do an oil change until brought up. We have to drive the car around to see if the A/C blows hot and if it does we can bring it back.... Now here is where they get my one star review (only because zero is not an option) -They tired to charge for a lot of BS things. One of them being the loaner. Not happening. -They did not reset my SOS light. My husband had to call and ask why it wasn't reset. Turns out they would charge ANOTHER diagnostic fee just for that. And if it is not a simple fix then we would need a new module which is not in warranty. And they are backed up so no guarantee they can get to it same day. NONE OF THIS WAS TOLD TO US UNTIL MY HUSBAND ASKED. Shady and money grabbing. - Joe our service advisor repeated not once but twice that he gave us a loner so pretty much be thankful. Which to me is not professional at all. -My oil change was not the road ready special as I had originally requested but just the regular oil change for $99.95 when there is a special online for $69.95.. And I received a coupon in the mail that stated $59.95 for my vehicle. Upon asking about the coupon I received Joe said he already gave us a discount but sure we can use it. Really? but suuuure you really did us a favor. This is just a cherry on top of the horrible service experiences we have had with Clovis VW since we purchased our Tiguan back in 2020. We will never own another VW nor will we ever recommend Clovis VW. I will make sure to let everyone I know and my husband knows how horrible they are. read more

Called to make an appointment for a routine oil change, was transferred to the service department, nobody answered the phone. Attempted to make an appointment online, that didn't work either. Called their phone number again, explained what I required and was told no appointment was necessary. Went to there store, waited 15 minutes while the counter man messed around on his computer. At least acknowledge my presence, nothing.....finally he looks up and says "dropping off"? I said no, here for an oil change. He responded, do you have an appointment? Response, no I was told didn't need an appointment. He said I did but I could leave it and they'll get to it. Bottom line, this isn't the only VW store in the area, avoid this location!! My 2008 Beetle was leaking gasoline. I took it to Clovis VW (where I purchased the vehicle) and had the gas tank replaced. Since it was still under warranty, there was no charge. On the way home, my CHECK ENGINE light came on. Apparently, the mechanic damaged another part of the engine that cannot be replaced due to serious supply chain issues. Consequently, my gently driven car (with only 114,000 miles on the odometer) can no longer pass a smog inspection. My car remained at Clovis Volkswagen FOR 7 MONTHS with no end in sight, and no other options. There are four other vehicles on the lot waiting indefinitely for the same part. Took my car there to find out what the loud siren like noise is and they said it needs a full radiator flush to get rid of the noise and to make it from surging when in idle so ok ! They did it and charged 800 dollars for it and it still runs the exact same way when I took it in they are rip offs. I had my 2013 Tiguan serviced here many times with all great experiences. I just sold and purchased another brand new 2023 Tiguan with this location and my experience was great. I drove in there with the intention of finding a car for myself and trade in my suv but my husband was not with me & he told me to go drive around before we both went in . I found an atlas I fell in love with but I needed my husband to be there because he handles the purchases, so I drove off to pick him up. I saw a couple of salespeople outside the front door and one in particular was walking towards my car but as I drove off, both my daughters saw her flip us off as we drove out the lot for not stopping .She was a bit husky & had dark hair with glasses. That has got to be the most unprofessional thing I've ever experienced and she shouldn't be the reason I don't get a car, so when we do go in, we do NOT need her help . If you're going to be in customer service, you shouldn't be acting like that when you don't get your way . I RECOMMEND YOU DO NOT HAVE HER HELP YOU. I was recommended to go in because my friend got a car from there and she said the guy was very nice to them, I want to have a nice experience , she does not fit the description to give a pleasant experience. My experience was with parts. I believe the gentleman who helped me was John. John was fantastic he was extremely helpful and patient. He found what I needed and ordered it. I had it the next day which was surprising because I ordered it Friday and had it Saturday. I had been to the other VW dealer in the area and was told I needed to buy a 120 part which was NOT WHAT I NEEDED. The part I needed was 12 dollars. Again John helped me find what I needed not something i didn't that was more expensive. I'm extremely happy with this dealership and will be doing all my dealings with them in the future. I have not purchased a vehicle from them nor have I tried the service department however I plan to do both in the future simply because of the excellent service I received from John and his apprentice in parts. read more

Super helpful at Michael, got the car all set up. At Clovis, they did not help at all, and did not tell is we had to set up the roadside service. This location is the worst. I have had to take my car back 3x for the same problem. That's 5 days worth of work I have missed bc of it. No incentive or even an apology. I can't tell if it's the whole dealership or just the service manager but they straight up don't care about their customers. My car had been in the shop since 830am and I called at 330 to ask what they were even working on. And if I am going to be getting my car back, as promised, but instead told me they have to keep it until tomorrow. It is 1230 and they just called to say it's ready.
