Tried to call service department but was put on hold for 20 minutes then I called back and was put on hold again Poor customer service

I cannot say enough positive things about my experience with this dealership yesterday. I purchased a used fiat from them five years ago, and loved the service so much I pulled out of the lot and told my husband that my next car would be a Volkswagen just so I could buy it from them. When my fiat needed very expensive repair (worth more than the car) I knew if anyone could help, it was these guys. I rolled my busted car into the lot, met with Sean and David, and a few hours later I rolled out in my top choice...a brand new Tiguan. From "hello" to financing, everyone was top notch. I was given a tour of the dealership, met my new service team and David even bought me a VW keychain for my new ride. Clovis VW made me a lifelong VW owner, or at least for as long as this dealership is open. Used or new, I HIGHLY recommend giving them a chance. And if you need a super fun, absolutely gorgeous, affordable small SUV...go test drive the Tiguan, they have a ton of them to pick from! read more

Can't say enough about how GREAT this dealership is. I went to another VW place (Michael VW) and was treated like I was a both to them. At Clovis Volkswagen, I was given a moment to look around, warmly greeted, and actually LISTENED TO! Being a woman, I have to say that that is pretty rare at a car dealership. (I went to several other dealers to look at cars before deciding on a VW so I am speaking from recent experience!) I told the salesman the car I wanted, the trim/package I wanted, and the price I wanted to pay. He got the manager to get on the phone and see where they could get the exact car I wanted. No hassle, no shuck and jive sales talk, just good old fashioned customer service. We worked on the numbers and four days later I had my car at the price I wanted to pay. That's exactly how a car purchase experience should be! Also - I recently had to go in for some service on a minor problem with my new car and wasn't exactly pleased with the service desk. I asked to see the service manager. The manager took all the time I needed to express my thoughts, apologized for what I thought was unacceptable, and then gave me his card with a note that allows me to go back in at any time I want and get a FREE TANK OF GAS for my inconvenience. He was sincere in wanting to make me a happy VW customer and offered that little gesture which, I have to say, made a big impression on me. With the price of gas currently, we're talking about a $50 freebee! The whole VW staff, from the Service Manager to the sales people want their customers 100% satisfied and happy with their vehicle and experience at Clovis VW. People said to see Joe at service, and I did. He is professional and efficient. I was going out of town and wanted to make by my oil and coolant where at ok level before my trip. My tune up was not due for another 5,000,, but coolant was low. He took my car in and topped off my oil and coolant and also had them check my tire and tire pressure and visually check under the hood to make sure all is good. Great service read more

While on a road trip, my poor little Tiguan was flashing some serious warning signs and running unusual. We slowly made our way to Clovis, CA as that was the nearest VW dealership to us. Amy in the Service Dept was very helpful and extremely knowledgeable. She squeezed my Iggy in and got her all fixed that same day. We went there to check out some cars but walked out almost immediately. The sales representative were not attentive especially this older African American man with a thick accent maybe like 40ish. He was yelling at an employee and was very unprofessional. I get people make mistakes but there's a way to talk to people. We're all human and make mistakes, but to go off in front of potential customers is very unprofessional. I hope he sees this and action is taken on him. I really couldn't believe how he treated a person. He needs to learn kindness and patience because of this we took out business to Dodge down the street. Please do not go to him or this dealership if this is how they treat their own employees. I know he a sales representative and he was probably the rudest person I've ever encountered, I work in retail so I know what rude is. Management needs to deal with him immediately or else they will loose business. read more

This is my first experience with Clovis VW and I must say I was very appreciative and blown away by their promptness, service and overall rapport. We have a 14 month old and it is hard to keep him entertained while trying to go through the car buying process. They not only understood that, but made sure this was a quick and smooth process. The best car buying experience I have had to date. No hassling, no trying to bargain. We told them what we wanted and that is what they gave us. Had warranties on my Passat 2013. They (Joe from service) did service on my car and couple weeks later when i returned they took away my warranties without explanation. Joe said he was clueless on why it happened yet made me call carfax to find out the situation. Carfax told me VW is known to do that. They'll take away your warranties on the claim that your car is totaled when in reality its salvaged not totaled. Main question is how is it that they were able to do service on my car for free couple weeks prior when it was "totaled" before yet now they claim its totaled and even had the audacity to ask if i got in an accident or something to change my status of the car..? They fully knew the status of my car on the first service call yet still worked on it. Watch out bc they will scam you and theres not a thing you can do unless you decide to lawyer up, which costs too much to pursue that fight. Unfortunately, now that my car is "totaled" , i have to pay out of pocket which is not a problem in itself. Its the fact that i was offered money or the warranties for the recall of my passat. I chose the warranties, but if you choose that option be aware that if your car is salvage, they will claim it totaled to avoid your warranties... very unprofessional and if anything a scam they pulled on me. read more

I have never owned a VW but was interested in one for my 16 year old. I wanted something safe, reliable and within my budget. Carl directed me to the perfect vehicle and made the buying process easy. I bought a TDI from Clovis VW in 2017 and there was a rattle in the dash at certain RPM from engine vibration, I brought the car back to fix that and a few other issues the car had and they fixed everything but the dash. They called me to inform me my car was ready to pick up however when I arrived to pick it up they told me the dash is going to require to be taken apart to diagnose and they will need the car for a week. I told them I live an hour away and that I wish they had told me that over the phone and they apologized and said they would wave my deductible on my warranty when I bring it back to leave for them to fix the dash. I just recently had a check engine light come on and took the car in to fix before my warranty is up and now they are telling me that the dash won't be covered under my certified pre-owned warranty and want me to pay out of pocket to fix the issue. Basically they are trying to weasel their way out of fixing a problem the car has had since I bought it and have been pretty dishonest about the car and the warranty. When I brought the car in for the check engine light they told me my warranty was already up even though it wasn't, they said it was out of the mileage even though my paperwork states two years unlimited miles...I had to go to the general manager of the dealership to get them to approve the work order. I will not be buying another VW in the future and certainly will not be buying anything from Clovis vw, you folks have lost any future business from me. Trying to make up the $ lost from your lies and deceit with the EPA/TDI scandal by burning your customers is not good idea we keep you afloat. read more

Do not go to this place for repair! Go to Michael in Fresno. I paid almost $400 for nothing. Diagnosis said spark plugs, then they came out and said that they can't get the wires to work with the new plugs and it would cost another almost $400 for that. Now I can't even drive the car. Not to mention the endless string of profanity that comes from the back room. The gentleman that was helping me was actually great, it wasn't his fault at all, I understand that he's just the middle man. Just don't go there if you need service. These guys are HORRIBLE especially Jerome and Dean the manager. I had such a hard time being approved for my loan had to ride my motorcycle all the way from San Jose to Clovis to have my grandma co-sign on a car that I thought was $12,400 but when I walked in the had somehow ran the tab up to $16,000 because they got her to get some stupid warranty that was probably already built into the price. I ended up stuck with this car because they took advantage of my elderly grandmother. Is there any good car salesman anymore I guess not do not by a used car these guys even if they tell you it's certified per-owned. DO NOT!!! Purchased my vehicle here and at the time of purchase the salesperson told me that the first service on the vehicle was free. Went in to get my first service done yesterday and was told that the free service only applied to 2015 models and not 2016 models! I specifically asked the salesperson at the time of purchase repeatedly about the free service and if it applied to my vehicle and he said it did. He said all they could do would be a discount which ended up being about ten bucks off. Hope an oil change was worth losing a customer to them. read more

The salespeople are wonderful. The finance department, however, you need to beware. The finance manager took our deposit and didn't turn our loan paperwork in for over a week because he wanted us to purchase his warranty and "gap insurance" plan. He called me several times a day over the course of a week telling me to come down and re-negotiate our loan, he would not take "no" for an answer or respect our decision not to purchase a warranty or gap insurance on a 6 year old vehicle. He was untruthful with me about my credit score and also tried to tell me that it's illegal for me to use a post office box for my mail (it's NOT!). We loved the truck and an outside mechanic confirmed that it was in excellent condition, so I financed it through my own credit union. Overall, obtain your own auto loan from your own bank before purchasing a vehicle here. read more

I took my new (new to me)vw bug in for a check up, even though nothing was wrong with it. I just wanted them to make sure everything was good! They tell me that a cable was fired and needed to be replaced.($900) They replaced the battery, fuse box and a cable. Charged me $450 for parts! What?! And $450 for labor. When I got my car back, there were black shoe marks all over the floor. My temperature reader was no longer working... Worked before. A day later my car wouldn't start at all. I was already super leery of them, so I had my mechanic look at it. My mechanic said they sold me a bad battery. I had to take my car back there 2 times to fix something they messed up. My biggest problem with this place is I feel they didn't care about me or my car. They only cared about how much money they could get!!! read more

Service department guy was a jerk and very argumentative on the phone and acts like you are wasting his time. He quoted me 250 plus other fees. for service. I was like what ever Dude.. Called up Michaels Vw and they quoted me 100 bucks less for the same service and they were very polite. Won't be buying my next New model Vw or servicing my vehicle here. read more

Took my car in for an oil change and a small brake fluid leak.... then all of sudden , I have an oil leak AGAIN... which they were supposedly had fixed previously but obviously didn't ... then they go on to say I have transmission leak as well , and they need to replace this pump and that part.... long story short they have been serving my vehicle for awhile now and you would think they would have caught some of these issues beforehand and not wait til it became a major problem . Guess they have rookie mechanics at this place ... well I told them NO ... don't fix anything I'm picking it up ... took it and traded it for a new bmw... so it worked out , but just giving anyone else a heads up .The people that help you at the counter and over the phone are very nice and helpful... but my issue is with the below par rookie mechanics they hire. I've only had great experiences at Clovis Volkswagen!! I didn't purchase my car from them but I was having a hard time finding a good mechanic in my area. Clovis Volkswagen took care of me. What I thought was going to be weeks in the shop only took a few days. My car is running like new! Everyone seemed very friendly, speedy, and knowledgeable. I loved them so much that when my mom was car shopping I suggested Clovis Volkswagen. She ended up using them to purchase a cute little Eos! In Februrary of 2017 I received a Safety Recall 45F2 - ABS Control Module Software for my 2009 Volkswagon vehicle. The issue: "a fault within the antilock brake system may cause the module to fail during ABS and/or electronic stability control (ESC) activation. This will cause warning lights for ABS, brake and the vehicle stabilizing functions (ABS/ESC) may not be available, INCREASING THE RISK OF A LOSS OF VEHICLE CONTROL AND COULD LEAD TO A CRASH CAUSING INJURY AND/OR PROPERTY DAMAGE." -via IMPORTANT SAFETY RECALL from a letter I received through the mail. I then proceeded in making an appointment. 3/13/17 was my appointment at 9am at the CLOVIS VOLKSWAGON dealership. I received a call from CLOVIS VOLKSWAGON stating they were canceling my appointment because they can not service my recall. Their reasoning was, "it would in return cost the customer thousands of dollars." I then asked where I would receive these repairs. The customer representative did not know. From what I receive of this is: CLOVIS VOLKSWAGON refused possible human life injuries that could occur from an error of the company they represent. read more

I would rate zero stars, but I suppose that's not an option so i'll go with one star. When I brought an issue to them they blew me off and misdiagnosed the issue and let me be on my way living on without a heater. For the most part this wasn't an issue because it's hot here most of the time, but come winter it left without heat. A year and a half later I'm still with the same issue and now they have magically found the issue and want to charge me a literal arm and a leg to fix. Warranty aside I would like to think you would do "your best" to do your job the first time, but I guess that's not a thing here. Don't take your car back unless you get what you want or else you're out of luck and everything falls on you. read more

Wow, what great service! I asked some questions and the manager called me back to make sure that I received the answer, even after they knew that I had purchased my Jetta SE somewhere else! I got a used CPO Jetta up north because it was not available with the options I wanted locally. The service department went out of their way today to help me with a check light bulb notification and saved me tons of time, all for free! I so wish I could have bought my Jetta there! This experience was from a couple years ago so it could be better now but won't be back to make sure. After falling in love w/ a convertible beetle at another dealership that was sold before I could get I went here to shop around. I brought my boyfriend and told the sales guy what I was looking for and what it was priced at the other dealership. I researched kbb and auto sites so I found VW doesn't keep resale well. The manager was so patronizing and talked directly to my boyfriend even tho the car was for me. Hello?!? He's not your customer, I am! Also he said I was crazy to buy a used VW from an Acura dealership, I pointed out all the used cars on his lot that were not VW. Told me I would never find the car I wanted in the price range I wanted. I only wish I would have driven by a week later with my convertible beetle I bought at Lithia for WHOLESALE price w/ only 6k miles. All I'm saying is do your home work and shop around! read more

I love my VW, BUT the Clovis VW garage is terrible. Every time my car leaves from there, I find that something else is broken... something that was working fine when I handed them the keys. It took 3 visits to fix a headlight (one time they even ziptied it on) and on the way home, oh the grill comes off and shatters all over the road. They fumble around to fix one thing and they break something else. Bring it back so they can fix what they broke, and they break something else. Bring it back again and "Oh we're not taking responsibility for that". Hmmm. I am never going back there and would not recommend their garage to anybody. read more

If I could give ZERO stars, then I would. I have taken my car here for two years and have been pleased with the service, but I will never go back. They quoted me $1000+ for a repair that I was able to take down the road and fix for $200. Serious inflation on parts and labor costs. Plus a $125 "diagnosis" fee. They also wanted to charge me a 10% "restocking" fee for the parts they ordered when I took my business else where. They are not looking out for the best interests of their customers or exploring all options for the repairs. I am very disappointed this happened to me at a business I have trusted for many years. read more

Tok my Passat in for the two year service. The service was done and they rotated the tires. Now when I drive 65 mph there is a LOUD low frequency noise from the rear, I demonstrated this to the 'tech' but he said he could not hear anything. HE'S DEAF! He put it on the rack and looked at rhe tires and suspension and all was well. This i'tech' is stupid. That makes my mind up . They can buy bacck me Passat TDI. I will buy a Toyota. read more

So I took my car here to get a 4 wheel alignment. They charged me $375. This was way too high. I called around to several other dealerships (stealerships) and couldn't get a quote anywhere close to that number. Everywhere I called quoted $79-160. So I went back in to call them out and question the price and the girl had no way of breaking down the price. Also got a diagnosis saying my ABS sensor was bad, she tried to say she threw in the diagnosis fee of "$125", which still leaves "$250" an alignment. All she could say was that was the price and when she put in the code that's what popped up. Bullshit. My service paperwork said 4wheel alignment service. $375 for labor. That's it. I then spoke to the supervisor and expressed how I felt about this price and he had then credit me back $125. After he tried feeding me more crap about how complex alignments can be depending on the vehicle and alignments can get up to "$800". Yes he said that. In the end I paid $250 for and alignment and "diagnostic". Still too much. I am never returning to this dealership. I suggest you look elsewhere unless you don't mind serious price inflation. read more

Worst mechanics we've ever experienced! Had our car for 25 days! Told us it was fixed four different times. Each time we had to take it back because they never fixed the problem. They kept adding more parts and more repairs. Ended up paying them $1000 for an easy fix that another mechanic could have done for $100. Plus, they used up an entire tank of gas "test driving" it. Stay far, far, far away. Never going back and telling everybody I know to avoid them at all costs. read more

I went to Clovis Volkswagon after being treated terribly and dismissed by "the good car company". My credit is terrible after a job loss and a one year illness. I am just getting back on my feet and needed a more reliable car than I was driving for my new second job. Things were looking pretty hopeless after my experience with the "the good car company" but I filled out the online application with Clovis Volkswagon anyway. They called me the next day and asked me to come in when I had some time. The Salesperson Sean and the Finance Manager Dean treated me with respect and care. After test driving the perfect car for me, Dean said he would submit my application and see what options were available. Despite my credit problems, they found me a loan with a down payment I could afford and gave me a more than fair offer on my trade in. The interest is fair for my credit and I will be back in a couple of years to buy another car from these great people. Don't be fooled by car companies that claim to "specialize" in people with poor credit. Clovis Volkswagon has access to just as many lenders and the know how and desire to get the job done. read more
