This was my first time here and boy it was an experience. I consider myself an average spicy eater. But every time a food joint offers multiple levels of spice I get weary and order mild. And I'm so glad I did. The mild was a lot spicer than I expected, I'd consider it medium spice level at other food joints. Food was a little saltier than expected. Maybe I have a small stomach or the food was kind of heavy, but I think it could've fed two people. The mac n cheese was okay, nothing too special to write home about. I'm always looking for a new hot chicken place. In IG it looked really good, but I've been burned that way before (looking at you, Egg & Bird!), so I approached this with some trepidation. On the positive side, it was close enough to my office for it to be an easy drive. Ordered the breakfast burrito (a stand by for me) online, and drive the 9 minutes so I'd get there just as it was easy to pick up. Delighted that the place was located in my old neighborhood, as I'd grown up a five minute walk from this place. The burrito was done three minutes after I'd arrived so it was freshly done. Got back to the office and unpacked. The burrito was cut in half, so I could see inside that it was jam packed with a scrambled egg, tater tots, and chicken. I ordered just under the medium (I like to taste the food, not just feel the heat), and it had the tiniest of kicks. It was delicious and filling. I got the sandwich combo with the "call Mom" spice level which is the second highest level of spice. My toilet did not enjoy the experience, but I enjoyed the taste of the sandwich! The combo gives you a nice set of fries considering the combo is about $12ish with a drink. They give milk for free for people who can't handle the spice (which I find it hilarious). I might come back to try the highest spice! read more

Pretty darn legit chicken sando. I usually go for the mild spice. I love the slaw that's in the sandwich. It's not too creamy with mayo, keeping it lightly sweet and a light vinaigrette tang. The chicken is always crispy, light battered, and juicy. And the bun- nicely toasted, keeping every bite in its place. When I'm not too hungry, but the man wants a sandwich, I would add a chicken tender to the meal and make my own salad with it. Perfect! And the fries...so crispy and well seasoned. I love it! Price is decent and service is quick. I've ordered during this "stay at home" order and it was stress-free just ordering online for easy pick up. This place is located in a strip mall area. Parking is on the street. Easy to find. Inside had a nice small ambience to it. Very cozy feeling. I ordered the main chick combo. Had my hot chicken sandwich with medium heat and a side of Mac n cheese. The hot chicken sandwich was nice and crispy on the outside, with a great seasoning to it, and soft and juicy on the inside. All the ingredients combined into the sandwich made it very tasty and definitely worth the try. The Mac n cheese was superb, not too cheesy, just the right amount. Very rich and delicious. Chicken sandwich here (main chick) was very delicious! You can only order online right now, no dining in. Despite this, the sandwich still came out yummy. The only thing was we ordered mild for the spiciness level and it was still pretty spicy. my sister and I can definitely tolerate spicy levels but we both agreed that mild was more medium-spicy (to the point where our noses were running haha). The Mac and cheese, tater tots, and coleslaw were all very tasty too. I would definitely recommend this place but if you can't tolerate a decent amount of spiciness, I recommend getting no spicy at all. read more

Liked it but didn't love it. I went after they opened and there was a lot of people waiting. We thought we would try this hot chicken place out. Other chicken places raised the bar on chicken. Came here for lunch with mom. Food here is absolutely fantastic. Great chicken sando with a terrifically tender breast and great tenders and whole wings. What's even better is they have tatertots. This is definitely one of the better nashville hot chicken places in the greater LA county. Highly recommend especially if you're in the neighborhood! read more

Walked in one morning before heading out to the aquarium. The girl who rung us up was super nice. Tried it out for the first time about a month ago. It was ridiculous at Medium. Was running an errand, made a pit stop, going Hot, it's ridiculousness...lots of people selling chicken sandwiches. I've been eating fries chicken for a while. This spot is Top 5 All Time. I don't like Pepsi per se so maybe they're Russian spies, but as far as the chicken goes, ridiculousness. If you like your chicken HOT & spicy, this is the place! My mouth was on fire when I got the medium my first time.. and still a good, strong kick with mild. Ordering online and pick up is so easy, remember to order through their website! Great service, great COVID precautions. Parking is usually ok in this area, depends on the time since it is shared. The side chick is the perfect size for me and their mac+cheese is bomb. I always also get a coleslaw to help cut through the fried sandwich. Tator tots are also great here, but really when can you go wrong with tator tots? Their Nashville hot breakfast burrito is also delicious! A little hearty for me, however if you can split this with another item with someone it's perfect. We picked this up and ate at Heartwell Park a little ways down just to get out of the house and get some sunshine. Highly recommend for any chicken sandwich craving! read more

I'm not sure how this place has such high reviews. I normally never write negative reviews but I don't understand why this place is getting compared to Howlin' Rays. I couldn't stand by and watch others get deceived by the hype. Anyways, the chicken was overcooked, dry and pricey while the flavor was bland. And even though the batter was overcooked and dry, I still ended up with food poisoning the next day. I would never go here again. If you're in Long Beach and you're looking for hot chicken, your best bet is definitely down the street at Jay's Chicken! read more

Excellent spicy chicken. Beware of the heat level LOL. We like spicy and the medium heat was plenty spicy. The tenders were crunchy on the outside yet juicy inside. Very delicious. Each tender is topped with pickles and served with a dipping sauce to cool your mouth down. They were very busy on a Sunday around noon, but the employees were all friendly and helpful. They apologized for the wait, but the wait was expected with the number of people waiting for orders. Not too long of a wait considering they prepared the chicken fresh and hot. I just had lunch today at Cluck & Blaze (pre and post lockdown) and they may be the front runner for best hot chicken in Long Beach. One bite and I'm sold! As a LBCC alumni I'm familiar with the options here but times have changed for the better. This area is known for their cursed store fronts due to many businesses coming and going but I have a feeling Cluck & Blaze is here to stay. The main chick is their take on the hot chicken sandwich and it's what you expect from a sandwich packed with juicy chicken and slaw, delicious. It's virtually the same as every sandwich I've tried but that chicken is undeniably good. Every bite I took I can't get over how good the chicken taste! On my second visit I got their breakfast burrito and this was bomb too. They no longer have tots in the burritos and replace them with fries, practically the same thing. You get the breakfast fixings of egg, starch and your level of heat and it's good to go. I admit for $9 these burritos are on the small side but they do pack a punch. I said it once and I'll say it again, Cluck and Blaze could be the best hot chicken shop in the LBC hands down. read more

Found this gem by LBCC while looking for a spot to grub with my friend and it was the best decision we made! The interior was clean, customer service was great and SUPER informative... This spot offers different levels of SPICINESS so I'm glad I asked for a recommendation on what level I should order! I ordered the Cluck N Fries (it's smothered in mac and cheese FYI), tenders and a side of honey and extra comeback sauce! It's a bit heavy but you can order a side of coleslaw like I did to make you feel better lol............ Looked up this place. My son and I love spicy chicken. Ordered the 1/4 chicken, Mac n cheese and drink. My son got the 3 strips, fries and drink. The strips are a much better value. They are large compared to the leg/thigh that I got. It was one piece and very small. I got the Hot and they recommended my son get the mild. I think that was a good choice for him but I think I could have gone one level up. The seasoning is a dry rub, not the chili oil dipped hot chicken that I expected. Either way it was fresh and the quality of the chicken was good. Just bummed by the size of my order. Also, the fries are a mix of fries and tater tots and most of them were tater tots. Cluck & Blaze's founders opened their first restaurant in Long Beach, CA based on their passion for cooking and fried chicken. After falling in love with Nashville Hot Chicken on a trip to Nashville in 2004, they were eager to recreate and share the experience. Unable to find an authentic version in Los Angeles, they began cooking their own for friends and family. After numerous successful home parties, they opened their first brick-and-mortar location in Long Beach in 2019, followed by a second location in Glendale. Hello. Yes we do use butter when creating our sandwiches and burritos. Also, our chicken is dredged in buttermilk before it goes into flour.

One places and pays for the order at the counter, with the proprietors being very friendly and engaged. They brought out our beers after the pour, and the sandwiches a bit after (since each is individually carefully made). Beers: - Northern Lager [Oxbow] - ($5 for 13oz pour) was clean, crisp and a hoppy aftertaste. - Infinite Hotel [The Wayfinder X Bierstadt] (marked as $3 but charged $4) is a rice lager and was the favorite of the group for its drinkability - Winteruption [JK's Farmhouse] ($3) is a cider with very strong maple syrup overtones: never tasted anything like it. - Hyper Paradise [Rare Barrel] ($4) - saison and ale with mango and passion fruit. Hot Beef ($18) was my wife's, and it had been griddled with cheese to form a crispy lattice. The Ham and Cheese ($16) was served cold and had potato chips inside which my mother-in-law liked (saving the other half for home). Our friend and I split the Hot Turkey ($16) and Pastrami No 19 style ($20). The pastrami meat was piled high and the cole slaw was crisp and good, but was served cold (should have read the description more closely) and mediocre rye bread broke apart quickly. The Hot Turkey ($16) was served on ciabatta that had been grill pressed for a long time, creating a wonderful crust as good as any sandwich I've had. But the filling was OK, using standard turkey breast slices from a loaf and an ok stuffing...using hand carved turkey would have made a big difference here, but understand it's hard to do. Strangely, even though it's a pickle adorned shop, each sandwich just came with an ordinary pickle spear, what one would expect from a diner, not a deli. And the prices are on the higher side, especially with no sides and most not being particularly ginormous. But I loved how each sandwich used different breads, and how some of them were toasted very well. And having the opportunity to try these unique beers made it a really good experience.

Parking is street only, so read the signs carefully so you don't end up with a ticket. If you go on a Sunday there are no restrictions or time limits, which makes it even better.
