CluckUChicken is literally a Morristown staple. The buffalo jumbo shrimp is my absolute favorite -- perfectly seasoned, always crispy, and even better with a side of blue cheese. And don't get me started on the cheese spread fries... elite every time. The wings are also really good. I always ask for them fried hard, and CluckU never misses. I love this spot. They are always friendly and helpful and they have a clean and bright dining area. I am obsessed with their boneless wings and being from Buffalo, that is a big complement! I love the flavor of their traditional death sauce. It is so flavorful and with a nice amount of heat. I like it hot so proceed with caution! Did I eat it? Yes. Was I happy about it? No. I was really craving fried chicken - can't remember the last time I had proper fried chicken (had some chicken wings here and there). This was the closest to me. People inside were very nice. The chicken took some time to make, but that's typical when getting fried chicken that's not KFC/Popeyes. The chicken had a thick, crunchy coating on it that met texture expectations, but missed in the flavor department. Just tasted like plain flour breading with no spice. Chicken itself was fine quality. The mac and cheese was deceiving. When I took a fork full, I had a cheese pull and I was intrigued. Again, met texture expectations...but lacked FLAVOR. Cluck-U is my all time favorite place for wings. Unfortunately, I would need to drive 2-3 hours in order to find a location. This experience was interesting. The chicken itself was five stars. I went with bbq and my husband went with buffalo. The sauce was tangy and flavorful and the chicken was all white meat and extremely fresh. We also ordered mozz sticks which were a hit. Perfectly golden fried on the outside with an ooey gooey cheesy center. There were just some ordering snafus. We ordered regular wings and were sent (and charged more) for boneless buffalo wings. Both orders of 'boneless wings' were also not boneless wings at all, and were massive tenders. I'm not sure if that's how their boneless wings are served. If so, I wonder what the tenders look like. These were so large that I could've definitely gotten away with ordering less. The menu is a little confusing, so next time I might need to clarify if I order over the phone. They are located right next to a 7-11 (a good place to get drinks by the way) and have a large free parking lot. The lot is not well lit at night so keep that in mind. I went with the wings and a hot wing fries (fries drench in hot wing sauce). They both were delicious. There is a large selection of sauce to put on your wings. I went with the Caribbean jerk sauce. The wings are huge, the size of an infant's fist. They were drenched in the sauce. Fully covered. The food was reasonably priced, and as I mentioned, if you want a drink, you may want to get it from the 7-11 next door. You can get any of their sauces on the buffalo fries. I stuck with the norm and went with the buffalo sauce. They were awesome. A nice twist to the traditional french fry. I highly recommend trying them. My order was prepared very fast. I have been coming here over 20 years . Maybe when I was younger I didn't notice , or maybe quality was better. It has become unbelievably inconsistent. How can you serve cold chicken to someone ? Half the time it's old chewy, but other times it's great . It's become an ongoing joke among friends how ordering cluck is like gambling on the jets you never can feel Confident in the outcome. Solid, fast and affordable fast-food restaurant. Cluck-U is a decent option in the area if you are craving fried chicken. They have all things fried chicken-pieces, wings, and tenders. The price of the chicken is also very fair because you can easily fill one person up for less than 10 bucks easily. While not exactly gourmet quality or anything mind blowing, they do what they do pretty well. I had the 2 piece dark meat combo- a leg, a thigh and cornbread for a little less than 6 bucks. They also have loads of other things on their menu, ranging from sandwiches, fries, fried mushrooms, and even salads. I had the fried mushrooms with my meal and they were pretty rubbery and very greasy. I would definitely not recommend these. They were pretty fast with my order- I called and within 10-15 minutes it was ready. No sidewalk tables and street parking only now. They had some staff shortages so my takeout order took a while, but stickers are free. Was hungry during Super Bowl Sunday and decided to give this place a try. It wasn't bad at all. I had the 6 piece chicken tenders and the coleslaw. Both were pretty good. However, I will say they don't really give you enough of their special honey mustard sauce for the 6 pieces. It only came with one sauce, but I guess I didn't need the extra calories. I was out drinking in Morristown and somehow ended up at Cluck-U, a throwback to my college days in Hoboken. Cluck-U has a wide variety of tasty sauces, my favorite being the Traditional Death. Their 911 sauce is actually very spicy as well. Cluck-U puts A LOT of sauce on their wings, and is probably the only instance were I prefer boneless wings to bone-in wings. There's not many locations around me so when I know there's one near my drive, I'd stop by. Thank goodness for Waze app. It's local near other small shops and parking is limited as there's constructions taking up parking spaces. As I entered the store, I noticed how dreary it looked and ironically at the left corner, there's a piano. There's some tables set in the back patio for customers wanting to dine outdoors. My husband and I placed our wings to go. I was a bit surprised (in good way) when they asked if I'd like the sauce on the wings or as a dipping. In my twenty years of eating these wings ordered in other towns, no other cluck u had asked us this. I thought it was cool, but we want ours smothered with the goods. The food was definitely a let down. I ordered a chicken sandwich and they added so much buffalo sauce (which didn't taste good) that I could barely taste the chicken. My boyfriend's burger tasted better than my choice, albeit a bit bland, but they didn't cook it right. I will say that the fries were surprisingly really, really good. Opened up the meal....looked like it was cooked yesterday. Chicken was cold and dry. Too tough to eat. The batter was missing in a few places on chicken and in those areas was leather. I was craving some wings so I picked up a 10 piece (medium heat buffalo) and a chicken sandwich to go. The wings were decently flavored but not crispy at all. They were kind of soggy and cold. The sandwich was pretty much the same. Tasty but again soggy and not at all crispy. Maybe it was the steam captured in the to go packaging. This place is good what it t is. It's a quick chicken fix and nothing more. It's open until 3am and after midnight is probably when it's busiest and will taste the best. Service here isn't bad they have been semi fast every time I have come in during lunch and after bar hours but it can get crowded late since it's a popular destination at that time. After looking at the star count... I do declare: CUC is the most underrated restaurant on yelp... Yea, I said it haters. This is fast food, and it is being unduly held to the standards of Michelin rated restaurants. Shame on you YELPERS, you are better than this. CUC is a franchised chain, and this outlet is the best one I've been to. This is not a "buffalo wing purist" joint. The traditional recipe is a non breaded wing with Louisiana hot sauce/ butter mixture. Here the wings are breaded, and 20 sauces to bathe your bird in.. from sweet and mild, to the weapons grade 911. You need to sign a waiver to get the 911, and it can be used to ward off attackers. The wings are consistent, and the breast bites are the best you will find anywhere. This place is a bonafide Morristown treasure, respect this cluckster. **NOTE TO NEIL G. Business owner Neil, I hate to be argumentative.... however.... My first "real" job over 20 years ago was in Morristown, and I've been coming to this Cluck-U since then. I even introduced all of my friends to it, and we would all make the 1 hour trek to here, just for the "breast bites" as they were called at the time with the Nuclear sauce. Since the job was third shift, and nowhere else was open aside from Dunkin Donuts and the diner, we'd pick up takeout from here at least one a week, and I ended up trying most of the menu. I'm happy to say, it hasn't changed much - it's still good. The sandwiches are decent, the sides aren't bad (the fried stuff is their forté), and the wings are good too, but the best they've got (imho) is the boneless buffalo wings. All breast meat, hand-breaded daily (they proudly proclaim on their menus), fresh, delicious, and crispy. The sauces have been my favorites for the past +20 years, I've tried the whole lineup, and settled on Nuclear (about 2/3rds up the scale) as the best balance of flavor and heat - but if it's pure heat you crave, the 911 Emergency sauce will slow you down for sure.
