From my experience, their workers do not wear masks ( which is forgivable except they tell the clients to wear a mask and they claim their workers do the same), they damaged a couple of my items, blast music while working (when there are other people in the apartment sleeping), and ask for your number so they may text you (just ew). Unprofessional and not worth the increase in their price. They do not notify you of a price increase and will not reduce the size of your storage unit to fit your needs as they claim. They will keep you at a much larger unit even though you do not need it. They don't have a lot of windows for delivery so if you need something in a pinch, you are out of luck, and you cannot go pick up your items. It has to be delivered to you. Also, their customer service is all talk and no action. They say what is necessary to appease you but will not assist, especially with their chat customer service (it's a waste of time). The worst moving company EVER, I work on real estate I'm always helping my clients with their moves and places. I have never experience something like it, for starters they sent a crew of 2 instead of 3 they packed everything wrong no bubble wrap no nothing it cost much more than any other company (same day I had another client moving with the company piece of cake , that job was twice the hours and was cheaper the rate. After carefully selecting which moving company fit my needs i ended up hiring Clutter. Got everything i could on such short notice ready for this move and then the day came, Clutter shows up takes pictures of my place and the movers just leave. Customer service calls me to tell me the movers should have told me the following. 1) The path is obstructed. (by 3 sheet rock walls that were moveable by myself or the super.) 2) That my level of packing was not what they expected. (I'm sorry you said you would assist with packing and furniture disassembly?) Is my deffinition of assisting with packing different than yours? why else would you bring boxes and the like? They approved our new move-in date a couple weeks prior to move-in & confirmed everything from storage would be delivered to the NYC apt. TWO (2) days prior to move-in I got a message that they cancelled our appointment! Then Clutter proceeded to put some random date on the portal, not 1 or 2 days later BUT 8 DAYS LATER, as if we had agreed to this new date! Not to mention the fact that we needed to schedule move-ins with our new apartment's super weeks in advance! One of the roommates just flew in from TX, all to sleep on the hardwood floor on their first week back at college I'll spare you the long thread of me begging them to have the move still occur on the day they had promised. When I was moving out, the movers destroyed my bookshelves because they weren't equipped with the proper tools to disassemble them. I was on the phone with the customer service call center in India for over an hour on moving day, and no one from local dispatch ever called to assist, even though customer service said they would. It feels like a money grab at every turn. - They market their storage as being 'accessible anytime', but you are not allowed to access your items without paying their movers to do so and you have to book through one of their limited appointment windows. - They will do everything they can to avoid paying for items that they caused damage to, even when you pay for their protection plan. - Their customer service is terrible. -- I booked with Clutter back in May when I was leaving the city for a while. Everything I owned went into their storage unit. The initial appointment was okay. The movers were nice, but the cost was upwards of $1,200 when all was said and done, which was much higher than the initial quote. The real problems started when I needed to remove my items from their storage for my move at the beginning of August. First, when you go to clear your account, they offer you 50% off your storage price indefinitely to stay, which makes you realize how insanely overcharged you've been from the beginning. Then, despite marketing their storage as being 'on demand' and 'accessible anytime', you aren't allowed to access your items on your own. You have to pay their moving service (their insanely expensive moving service) to do it for you with no exceptions. They also have incredibly limited appointment windows for being 'on demand'. At this point, you have no choice but to suck it up and pay the fees, so I did. On the day of, my appointment window was 3 hours. I was running about an hour behind and the movers informed me that their bosses wanted them to leave, despite me having the full 7-10am window set aside for my appointment. To their credit, they were nice and stayed, but when I got to the appointment, they were rushing and asked if it was alright for them to keep the wrappings on my furniture to save time. No one told me if I didn't go through every item individually with them that I would have no argument for damaged items when filing a claim. The movers told me I could go through everything and submit photos online after they had gone, implying there wasn't going to be an issue. Keep in mind, I arrived by 8am, so there was plenty of time for us to have done this if needed. I let them go, but sure enough, one of my items was damaged. I took photos as soon as I unwrapped it and submitted the claim. It's valued at $500, more than covered by the $2,500 protection plan that I paid for. Of course, the claims department denied me and told me that since the movers weren't present, it didn't count. The website is easy to use and makes pick up convenient, but I've used this company twice and both times my furniture returned damaged. The first time I stored quite a lot of things and many of the pieces had small amounts of damage to the legs or the arms, cracks in the wood. The second time I only stored a mattress, wrapped in a mattress protector, but it returned with mattress protector torn and the mattress reeked of urine and mice. I had to throw it out. RUN FROM THIS COMPANY!!! I never write bad reviews as I am a business owner myself, and will always give a company the opportunity to right their wrong. I will be taking action against his company for criminal behavior due to theft from my account. They continued to charge my closed account for over a year after I had already retrieved my belongings and closed my account. Once I discovered the issue, I informed the company that they should not follow policy and try and refund the card that was on file initially, because I was no longer an authorized user on that card. I was a secondary paying my prt to the primary since we were sharing accounts. The person I spoke with said OK at the time. After two months of patiently waiting, they sent the funds anyway to that card. They then wiped their hands of it, and cried policy and directed me to deal with the bank/ CC company to get the funds they shouud have never sent in the first place. They then proclaimed that due to policy, they could not fix the issue and was basically putting the loss in my lap as opposed to acknowledging that taking money from me for over a year apparently in their minds, did not warrant handling the situation according to the circumstances. If I couldn't get the money from the credit card company, and I I am no longer in contact with the ex that left me at a deficit due to their thievery. They basically made it my problem. I have given them three months already being bounced around from one to another without resolution. I am left with no alternative, but to file criminal charges, and to legally make this company find a payment option that will ensure I am made whole. I am not going to stop until this is resolved! As a longtime customer of Clutter, first of Box Butler, and then through two further acquisitions, here are some tips to avoid being overcharged or worse, complete loss of items. 1. Always ask for photos to confirm the items you've asked to be disposed of, and paid fees for, were in fact in their possession. I paid for a 5x5 storage area, identified items to be delivered and items to be disposed of. Miraculously, they found all the items for disposal but only one item to be returned! How can that be? The purpose of this review is to warn people to not leverage this service and provider. I didn't read enough reviews before using it and I regret it, I hope this helps someone else. Here is my story I used Clutter to store artwork, I'm an artist in the city. At first I had a great experience, the customer service rep that describes the service to you is very good, detailed and make sure you feel good signing up. This is the first stage of the scam. Then they tell you it's very easy to get items delivered back and forth about $100 for NY, the average I've paid in all different locations was $190-$200. At my first big pick up, I noticed that one employee was really good at packing and the other one has not packed anything before and handled things very rough. I had a talk with the experienced person and they repacked it. Then when I had to do another appointment with a large storage, I wasn't there the full appointment to watch over them and I realized at the end at how bad the packing was. They had brought no materials except boxes, no wrapping was used at all. The person was also high. Flustered, I didn't know what to do right at that moment and I called for help. I paid $200 for this appointment. When I filed a complaint I was returned $35. I received no help and just a lie, I was told my items would be repacked properly. After this I didn't trust them and booked a cancellation, which earliest was 2.5 weeks. This required me to pay for storage and delivery $145. I was just looking forward to ending this situation. At the day of delivery, they forgot a box with an artwork I needed bc it was sold. I'm livid, I called for help, there is no help, they tell you to just rebook and file a claim. Total, intentional, repeated and blatant negligence by Clutter, 25% of our stuff was destroyed. We have been storing our household items with Clutter for several years now. It has been a complete and total disaster. They have completely demolished many items. Destroyed items include marble dining room table, book shelves, multiple flat screen TV's, lamps, pots and pans, glasses, cups and plates. (See photos). These items were collected, packed, transported, stored by, returned and unpacked by Clutter. The first occurrence was last year when they returned a few items that included a bookshelf, that was completely destroyed and some items were lost. Clutter paid a portion to cover damages and made appropriate reparations then. Last week we had Clutter return the balance of our items in storage and we were stunned at the amount of destruction of our property. When the Clutter delivery people showed up, they said that we should expect a lot of damage as excessive damage is typical. They explained that there is no care at the warehouse and all items are stored in one area, not segregated and protected areas. We did not expect that kind of commentary. They were telling us the truth. We were shocked to see a marble table smashed into pieces, 2 flat screen tv's screens shattered and frames broken and bent, a floor lamp reduced to bent broken pieces and boxed goods smashed. These are all items that Clutter personnel packed, transported, stored, returned to us and unpacked. We made contact with Clutter to file a claim. They sent us a link to a replacement table and told us to buy it. They have also denied all claims hiding under their terms that they are not responsible for anything. They did offer us about $600 as a settlement. One of their justifications for the level of their offer was that they overpaid us for the previous claim. That is an insulting joke. I have been attempting to negotiate in good faith, to no avail. We are now going to file reviews, complaints and are in the process of filing a lawsuit. Class action is certainly on the table. We were hoping that Clutter would have acted as a professional company by assuming their responsibilities, however, they are not. Their terms and conditions of storage are not valid given that they have acted with extreme and wanton negligence for the care of third-party personal property while in their care, custody and control. Their advertising is very misleading as they do not handle anything with care. We are not even sure if the warehouse is environmentally controlled as our possessions were freezing when they were returned. For the contents of the boxes to be as cold as they were, they could not have been in a warm environment. At this point, we will be going after costs to replace destroyed property, plus storage fees. We are not willing to pay fees to store demolished and broken items, which they broke. We paid them approx. $16,000 over three years for their services. If I could, I would want to give NO STARS. I had SO MANY ISSUES during both pickup while moving out of the apartment and delivery from the storage. 1. I had to move out on 8/1, which was the end of my lease date. I booked the appointment at least a month before the appointment date. Yet, they resch ny 9am-12pm arrival appointment to a 10am -1pm appointment and arrived at 3pm. The movers said 1) they had to leave at 6pm since they could not work over hours and 2) since our building elevator shuts down at 5pm, they could only move a partial part of my stuff. However, when I made a claim, they did not reimburse the additional rent. 2. When moving my stuff from the storage to my new apartment, I found that a lot of the stuff were broken so I had to file a claim. However, they did not accept the claim for the two glass cups and a coffee machine water tank that they broke, WHICH THE MOVERS PACKED ON THE SECOND APPOINTMENT. However the dresser and desk did not. The dresser has stress fractures covering the entire top, and the desk is damaged and is cracked. I put in for claims and they give me 100 and 250- that is RIDICULOUS. That wont' even cover pickup fees for repair. They say to put in more information in the portal, but there is no way to do so and their customer support has no idea what they are doing. I scheduled an appointment for pick up with detailed inventory list and pictures of items, including a 60-inch TV, 6-drawer dresser, a 72 inch tower, a queen bed frame, and over 10 medium-to-large sized U-hall boxes. On the appointment day a SINGLE mover came with a large truck. Obviously he refused to do the move- nor do I think it was appropriate or possible to do, even if he wanted to do it. He made a comment that, "Clutter always does this," prior to leaving. I called the company who put me on hold to "see if they can get another mover." When the representative returned he said there was no one available, then had the NERVE to charge me $200 cancellation fee for their incompetence. Moving is stressful in itself: If you want to add more headaches, by all means use this company. If you rather not, I would steer clear. I had an overall extremely positive experience with clutter. OLIVIA from trust and security is my hero for listening to me and advocating for me when one of my valuable items was lost. That woman deserves a raise !! Very important to get the protection plan, the movers to pick up and drop off my belongings were wonderful as well. Aside from a few mishaps that clutter eventually corrected, i am very happy i chose clutter as my storage company for over a year. Would highly recommend clutter to all my nyc friends. read more

This company is unreliable and are a rip off. I requested a mover for a 1BR apartment. On their website you are asked to take pictures of all your items before the move, so the company can have an idea what items will be moved. Also you are given the option to select the amount of movers based on your move. I selected "1" mover. Bad idea. The mover could not lift my TV. I had to help him lift my 70' inch TV; moreover, the move took 5 hours because there was only 1 mover. Keep in mind there was no big items to move-only a console and a one dresser. Everything else were plastic bins. Then the mover left two of my items at the pick up location. I was instructed to file a claim for my items which I did. The claims department denied my claim stating that it was my fault that the items were left at the pick up location due to me selecting one mover. Overall, this company lost two of my items and over charged my bill for the hours. Worst company and rip off! read more

Actual scammers beware. Changed their billing and it is not clear anywhere accept the contracts that are hard to load and read on a phone. Ever since being purchased by Clutter from Makespace there is horrible management. This is so bad that I am getting my lawyer involved. Also have broken multiple things of mine which I was ok with because at least they were efficient and accidents happen. Them charging me $1700 (solely for the pick up not the storage) to pick up 5 boxes and some bedroom furniture and the booking being completely unclear of billing. That's insane. I had 2 clutter movers come pick up my stuff a few days ago and so far so good. Very friendly and thorough guys however will say they weren't the quickest as they took 3 hours for what I thought was not a huge amount of stuff. Movers usually have a quickness about them that these didn't have....but I was in no rush so no biggie. They disassembled my bed and I was promised it will be reassembled upon redelivery but now after reading these reviews in depth I'm getting the feeling that won't happen ...so that's concerning:/ Either way, I should be back in about 2 months with comments on redelivery/ damaged or lost items/ reassembly etc. But no significant issues thus far. read more
