I was very impressed with my experience with Clutter. I have dropped items for storage at their Long Island facility AND i have had them come to my apt to pick up items. I have spoken on the phone with them multiple times as well. Each time the team has exceeded my expectations! I have used many storage providers in the past and this by far has been THE BEST experience. A couple key highlights 1) they embrace technology making it super easy to store items or request to get an item 2) they take photos and document everything on the online portal so you can "see" ur stuff and manage what is in there 3) they use technology to track the movers and people coming to get your stuff! Similar to using uber where u can see ur car and ETA. This means u know exactly when they will arrive to your place! No random waiting around 4) they over communicate to manage expectations and make it easy and clear 5) they save you money - i paid for a bigger unit than i needed and they automatically dropped me down to a cheaper unit. This is a really bad business: 1) First of all, they lie ($59 to bring back your stuff) to get you in. 2) Secondly, they tell you stuff doesn't fit into storage size you picked and raise the size and price. This is not true since now I moved my stuff to the other storage smaller size and even1/3 of the space is empty. 3) You are not allowed to go see your stuff (that's why you can't know that they are not telling the truth) 4) and finally they will bring everything back damaged!!! Every single piece of furniture was damaged!!! I think they put everything together in one big room with other peoples stuff and keep moving/tossing your stuff around as they bring new items to the storage. Otherwise how would you explain that all my furniture, TV, art pieces came back damaged or completely broken!!! I don't really give bad reviews to anyone, but this company I have to warn you about!!! You will end up paying for the stuff you will trash afterwards because everything will come back damaged!!! I've moved over 20 times and this is by FAR the worst company I've ever dealt with, in every category. horrible response times. overcharging for every services and adding services i did not need, just to charge more. a lot more. lost my bed rails but won't accept responsibility because they were "owner packed". impossible for me to pack since they are 6 foot, flat, wooden bed rails. oh, and THEY disassembled the bed. items are not properly inventoried, and they are not stored together. if you ask to retrieve the items, they charge between 50-250$ for YOU TO PICK UP YOUR OWN PROPERTY. large items lost, very little compensation. damaged items with almost no compensation. movers drag the time out so that more charges accumulate. even though I requested ALL of my items, they claim I left one behind. this is so they can charge 155$ per MOVER PER HOUR, rather than the 155$ per hour that the contract was agreed on, and so they can charge to store the item for at least another month - and then charge you further to get the item. customer service is mostly a call center with very nice people who have no idea how to do their job. constant requests to rate their service, although not addressing issues fully, nor taking accountability for any of the mistakes they made. Over the two years that I stored and moved goods with Clutter (formerly Makespace Storage), they proved to consistently fail on their service level. I recently moved into a new apartment, and it turns out there was excessive damage to the items that I paid to store with Clutter. It is clear through the photographs that the damage to my items represents gross negligence on the part of Clutter, Inc. Furthermore, the company failed to provide the contractual protection of my items nor the reimbursement to one of my lost items. When I submitted a claim, the compensation was far below the actual damage and loss to my items, which from my perspective was not acceptable. Clutter Inc. failed in three ways: 1. Breach: Clutter, Inc. failed to safely store and deliver the agreed upon items, breaching our contract. 2. Employee negligence: The mover requested to not even bring two items into my apartment (one coffee table and one vintage leather chair) given their unusable condition. Instead, the mover asked me to come to the truck to photograph them for damages. 3. Loss: Clutter misplaced one item that was not delivered on the agreed upon appointment date. This item was not retrieved by the company either, and remains lost. Customers beware - if you are a client of Clutter, Inc. you should be very wary. Its difficult to find labor for small moves. Even man with a van wants a minimum of $300 for a small move, and they don't always have insurance. If you're ever wondering how they address claims look no further than my review below! They claim reimbursing me $190 for the thousands I spent cleaning up their mess as settled! And they can't give any more details due to privacy concerns. Well as I have publicly noted - do not use clutter. They will send a crew of 5, 1/5 will do no work, and 3/5 will be hungover teenagers texting. The crew will work less than two hours what they bill. They will ignore your labeling for what goes to storage, what gets moved to your new place etc. They will charge you hundreds in furniture disposal despite leaving furniture behind. Then, they'll offer you $190 back, rejecting your claims of the $284 you spent shipping your stuff, the $521 you were charged for "furniture disposal" despite all the furniture they left behind (which you sent photos of), and then when you ask them to come pick up all the storage items they left behind despite the clear STORAGE labels, they tell you they will in fact be charging for this, but lucky you, you can apply the $190 they refunded you towards this service! Then, you can write a Yelp review, so god forbid this doesn't happen to anyone else and they can respond "we addressed your claims already" (the $190 you were offered prior to paying them $190+ to come back and get all the sh*t they missed). Anyway, your "response" to my review actually makes you look worse, so I'm glad all the world can see how you treat customers! Run as fast as you can and use ANY other mover in the world :) read more

Many of the reviews on here aren't that far-fetched and, unfortunately, they have changed their terms, conditions and pricing a number of times without informing me. Try your best to argue that via the customer care number. That said, this review is mostly to shout out two of their movers: Isaiah and Robert. These guys were efficient and friendly in doing their job. If you see these two walking out of the Clutter truck, you're in good hands when it comes to moving items into your residence. I've used Clutter for moving & storage for only 4 days due to a gap between my 2 leases. They managed to break my CB2 marble table and lose the wooden foot of my couch. The cost to me - in addition to 1 month's storage fee and moving both ways - was close to $2k. I received a $200 refund after days and days of chats with their customer service. I don't even want to mention countless broken glasses, chips, and scratches on whatever's left of my furniture. At this point, I feel lucky I received my bed & headboard in one piece. For anyone who's thinking about using Clutter for moving and/or storage, their prices are lower than professional moving services because they don't use professionals. Unless you're moving/ storing strictly paper towels, I recommend getting rid of everything you own and starting fresh rather than going through the hassle I've been through. We moved two units of storage to Clutter - they guaranteed a good rate to begin then sold the company and automatically increased our rates by almost double the initial rate quoted. When we called to move our storage units they forced us to do two separate moves claiming we had two different accounts, even thought the units were in the same Clutter storage space thereby charging us double for one move.
