We were hungry and in this area. We had both seen Clyde's before and their other locations but never tried them. We decided to stop by. They had plenty of parking up front and in the back. The staff was friendly and patient with our ignorance on their menu. They have plenty of seating area and a casual vibe. We went for the original combo and the wings with original spice. The burger was good with the spice of the chicken balancing out with the other ingredients. The fries were super crisp! They were better than chick-fil-a ones. My wings were super juicy and really crunchy wings. I had the lowest spice level other than mild and they for sure had a kick! The sauce helped toning the spice down but they were good. The food took about 15 mins to come out so it is not super fast it's more like a fast casual. I was surprised that I was unable to find nutritional facts anywhere so I'll guess it's good for the soul! Overall a relatively quick and calm meal.

Another great location for this venerable franchise. As always, the tenders were screaming hot without being unbearable and super tender without the breading getting all soggy. The crust of the chicken was crunchy, seasoned, and delightful. The dining room was emptier compared to other locations I've been to. Maybe it was just a slow period or the area just doesn't see much foot traffic. But I still had a good sense that this would be a nice location to hang out with friends on another night. The staff was helpful as always, despite it being dead. They still managed to sound as if they cared rather than bored, which is a good sign. I don't know the next time I'll be in the area, but it's nice to know there's always Clyde's for a dining option.

To be honest, I've tried many different hot chicken spots, and most have left me disappointed -- bland chicken, dry meat, and a feeling of total unsatisfaction. Clyde's Hot Chicken, on the other hand, never disappoints. They soar above the competition in flavor, portion size, friendly atmosphere, and amazing service. I drive all the way from Corona, CA -- a 35-minute trek down the dreaded 91 freeway -- just to enjoy their incredible food with my wife and kids. My family loves the OG Hot, while I go straight for the 1930, a perfect mix of heat, spice, and a touch of sweetness that hits just right. If you're looking for a hot chicken experience that delivers every single time, Clyde's Hot Chicken is the place.

Clyde's Hot Chicken - Yorba Linda Dropped by Clyde's for a Father's Day weekend DoorDash pickup. The spot was completely empty, and the team at the counter was friendly and approachable, which I appreciated. The place looked clean, but a bunch of the soda taps were out of order, which felt kind of lazy--especially on a weekend like this. That kind of oversight always reflects back on the GM or whoever's running the show. Small detail, but it sets the tone. I grabbed the order, confirmed it in the app, and as I was pulling away, someone came rushing out to flag me down--turns out I was given the wrong order. I went back in, and it turned into a whole scene. Multiple staff digging through receipts, checking, swapping, removing items--it was a hot mess, no pun intended. They stayed polite, which I respect, but it was incredibly inconvenient. While I was there, another customer was asking for a couple small sauces, probably to go with her meal. After all that confusion, they still mentioned she had to pay extra for dips. Like come on--it's sauce, not liquid gold. I get it--business is business. But if you're trying to build repeat customers, you comp the damn sauce and let them know it's usually a charge. That woman ended up digging through her purse to cough up change over something that should've been a gesture of goodwill, especially after the sloppy service. The food might be good, but details like this matter. If you want people to come back, act like you care about their time as much as they care about yours.

Tried Daves Hot Chicken as well, in comparison Clydes win with how clean the store is, how nice the employees were, especially John who was very patient/polite to my gf and me as it was our first time tryin, and overall taste. PRICE (3/5): The price caught me off guard! I thought this was Fast Food so I came here for a quick & cheap bite only to find out that 3 chicken strips (no drink or fries) cost $17! It is indeed expensive, but after I tried the food I think it's more justified. Just to put it into perspective, I was debating between Clyde's Chicken Strips (3 strips = $17) or Capital Noodles Bars (Filet Mignon Cubes = $17). FOOD (4/5): $17 for 3 CHICKEN STRIPS: only the strips! Yes, it's expensive. It's also the BEST seasonings on chicken strips I've had anywhere in this area. They are also the BIGGEST sized chicken strips I've ever seen. Each strip is about half the size of a chicken breast. They are also the FRESHEST chicken strips I've had. I really enjoyed these and I had HIGH expectations after the $17 price point. I'd come back if I'm craving deliciously fresh & tasty chicken strips and willing to pay this price. It's not an unreasonable price for a meal, but for a fast food chicken strips yes it is pricey. Pick your poison. But definitely try it at least once before you write it off because of the price because it might change your mind! DRIVE THRU (3/5): Usually when a place has a drive thru I assume it's Fast Food. This place is in between Fast Food and a casual dining spot. They make everything FRESH to order so it may take about 10 minutes or so. Worth it to me for fresh food! Kind of a weird drive thru entrance. SERVICE (5/5): It was my first time here, I went thru the drive-thru at a non-busy hour. The worker was so patient with me and answered all my questions since I was unfamiliar with the menu.

Parity has caught up. When I wrote my last review over a year ago, my main issue was the price point. Well, wait long enough and things will even out. Clyde's isn't any cheaper but most other places have become more expensive. And when a super basic fast food meal clocks in at over $10, Clyde's at $15 seems more reasonable. It's still a little more expensive, but the value has become better. The food quality is already higher and now the price is close to even. In this type of scenario, I'd much rather pay a little more and get something like Clyde's. So there it is- better experience because everything is more expensive right now. read more

Ok! I like the chicken, I like the freshness, the taste and spicy level of it! Yes it took a bit time for waiting for it, but since it's fresh, I say it's best to wait! Their Mac and cheese is also good! My kids loved it (they're picky eater) so I'm very happy! Hubby really likes the chicken, we must say it worth the price. And got one mistake also, which they forgot to give my fries, I called and they said I can collect it anytime, it's easy and by time we collect it, they packed us a free fries too! Went in on a slow day, not many customers around. Got a chicken slider with the 'hot as cluck' spice level, crinkle fries, and sauce on the side. It was a solid burger that was really spicy, my mouth was on fire. But the flavor was worth the burn. The fries were crispy and tasted great with the sauce. I'd recommend this to anyone who likes chicken and spice. read more

First, the inside is very spacious with plenty of seating and clean bathrooms. The ordering counter is a further walk into the restaurant. Lots of parking and easily-identified drive-thru. Staff was incredibly helpful in helping me figure out what I wanted to order and service was really quick. I got the Skinny Chick sandwich (Clyde's Original Spice) with a side of potato salad and vanilla shake to-go. If you can eat Takis or Hot Cheetos frequently and not die from the spicyness, the original spice is a good choice for that bit of heat. The chicken itself was so juicy, tender and flavorful. Vanilla shake was pretty standard. Potato salad was yummy but tasted a bit more acidic than others I've tried. (also they had free paper crowns + stickers at the counter, so please enjoy my dog wearing one haha) read more

I went to Clydes yesterday for a hot wing challenge, and it was definitely better than I could have ever expected. The quality and taste of the chicken was amazing, as someone who has never been here before this I will definitely be making this one of my new spots. Paid 17 dollars for 3 chicken strips today 6/17/24! No drink no fries and the strips aren't that big! There's no damn way I'm coming back this was a rip off! Also they have a horrible beer selection how can you have that going on in today's era?! Inside it's real nice the place was done right. Pricey for what you get with not too much variety on the flavors. I'm more used to kfc/Popeyes and Korean fried chicken style so this was nice to get something different but I still prefer the other types of chicken over Clyde's. It is clean inside and service is good for fast food- meaning you're not getting someone who will bend over backwards to explain things to you but they aren't rude and they are prompt. I wouldn't be opposed to returning but unfortunately my kids do not like the flavor of the chicken here so I probably wouldn't return. read more

Stopped in to try the new Clyde's location for lunch. We decided to eat in, as we got to go from another location and by the time we got home it was cold and soggy. Anyhow, we are in and glad we did. Ordered up the OG pack with crinkle fries and a side of slaw. Overall, very good. Nice and crispy with great flavor. Slaw was nice and tangy and the fries were delicious. First time here. Dave's hot who? I got the sando hot and waffle fries. The meal was excellent, but more importantly, I must pay respect and attention to the help staff. Vivian is a true asset to the company. She was helpful patient pleasantly cordial it is evident that she truly enjoys her job and she's happy to be there. It is refreshing to see this degree of work ethic in staff these days. Kudos to her if she deserves a promotion I hope she's running the place. If not, she should. The pricing was okay given the temperature of inflation. Pretty much everything is seven dollars more than it should be right now.......Go Vivian! read more

We came shortly after they opened. Not like, right after they opened for the morning, like we showed up here while they were still getting the kinks out, I think. Anyway, we did the drive-thru. We ordered, and it took so dang long, and we were very frustrated. And they offered us some free drinks, and some free sauce. But what I really wanted was my time back. Like, it took us a half an hour to go from ordering to driving away. And this was with two small kids in the car. Hopefully, they have gotten a bit more efficient. The food was fine. Really not anything exciting. There are better fried chicken places around. And we are about to have two of these within a 3 mile radius. I really don't understand it. read more

I wish I could give I could give Clyde's 6 or 7 stars. Branch manager John was a kind and trust worthy man. The ambiance of the store made me feel like I was at home snuggled up under a blanket with a good book. Last but not least the chicken. Im a resident of Placentia and was happy to see Clyde's open here. I've never eaten here before in my life and have been waiting for the special day to try it. I am a huge wing fan and I was extremely disappointed with their offering. It appeared to be very dark in color and burnt. I could eat more than 1 and threw the rest away. Clyde's Management or Corporate, Please take the time to retrain the staff because the service was unacceptable today. We came in at 10pm and there was 4 girls up front talking and completely ignoring customers standing right next to the register. I want to say there was a younger Asian guy in the back who noticed us and came up front to take our order. The food took a lot longer than expected and didn't seem like it was cooked all the way and soggy. Hopefully this can be a learning experience since it's a new location. Also the Clyde's sauce provided was expired. read more

I have visited the Fullerton location when they first opened and continued to visit.. I was super happy to be getting a Clyde's in Placentia because it was closer. I honestly can complain, the chicken tastes great, the difference spice levels are bangers, the tenders are perfect, the wings are also very tasty. The service is always very professional, speedy and polite, I have never had a bad experience. I normally order take out, so I can speak about what the inside of the restaurant looks like, but if it's similar to Fullerton then I can say it's very well organized, clean and fun.. read more

Still one of the better wing places around. I was a bit befuddled at the empty restaurant at 6pm. Now I know why. The front counter cashier is a Gen Z'ers who prefer texting over phone calls. What kind of service did I get? Exactly what you would get from a high schooler. I think it needs an older generation who is socially approachable. But, that's just my theory. read more

I got the skinny cluck with original heat and potato salad, the chicken sandwich was horrible, such a small piece for the bread and the spices were not a good flavor I hated the seasoning and I also didn't care for the potato salad it had way too much mustard in it it was yellow. The house sauce was also almost good but when I kept trying to like it I realized it was wasn't the right balance of flavor with already a hot chicken sandwich. I waited for over 20 min in the drive thru with one car ahead of me. I wouldn't come back based on my experience and flavor of the food for the price, such a bummer! read more

I'm so excited this Clyde's opened! It's so cute inside. It has a lot of seating & a huge tv screen. Vivian helped me today and she was so nice and helped us pick off the menu, so sweet! Hot As Cluck, just right amount of heat. I ordered the 5 piece and Clyde's Sauce, OG Chicken Clyde's Sandwich and Southern Slaw. My order only took 5 minutes or as I beat the lunch crowd and showed up around 11:30ish. The seasoning on the bites was kind of like cajun style.. I guess? It had sweet & spicy hints. The breading was light, which I enjoyed. I don't like other places that use too much thick batter. Clyde's makes it perfect for my liking. The interior is clean and they have multiple TV screens showing sports and other programming. I visited for lunch hour and I beat the crowd. I'll be back again. The best local hot chicken joint around. I've tried quite a few and I have to say Clyde's is by far my favorite. Their standalone strips are fantastic and their sandwiches are amazing. I've been going to Clyde's for a few years (Fullerton) and couldn't be more excited for this more convenient (to me) Placentia location to open. I've tried just about every spice level and while Millionaire spice isn't the spiciest thing I've ever tried, it absolutely has some amazing heat. I'll usually eat millionaire in a sandwich and 1930 on strips. If you're looking for a hot chicken sandwich it's totally worth giving Clyde's a try. Love the atmosphere and overall customer service in this place. I loved their location in Fullerton and just had to try this new one. This new location has a huge interior with a bunch of seating. Customer service was as great as they are over there in Fullerton. There was a little bit of a wait, but the staff made sure to let me know and were super apologetic. My food was hot in every way! I personally recommend the strips because they are sized way better than Cane's and their spice is out of this world!
