I always order the combination meat with grilled chicken vermicelli noodles. I think this time I went was probably the best I've received! My boyfriend and I decided to try their fried rice because we constantly order the same thing here and in all honesty? It was delicious! They added a generous amount of beef to the dish. I honestly thought it was great. Their lemonade straight up tastes like lemons were truly used (we have a lemon tree and it reminds me of my dad's lemonade.) Highly recommend the food here. The environment here is so cozy. I absolutely love coming here at night because the interior is lit up by some string lights wrapping around the restaurant. Great family friendly spot and an excellent date spot. The service? It felt awkward coming in. The 3 people at the counter just stood there staring at us I'm like so do I just go pick a seat or something haha. Visited Mama Hong's for a pho outing with my daughter, who's a huge fan of the dish. From the moment we sat down, our server Daisy set the tone. She was attentive, warm, and genuinely great with my daughter. The one hiccup came when my daughter wanted to swap a meat option for steamed veggies in her pho. Daisy let us know the kitchen doesn't accommodate menu customizations, so we got creative and ordered everything on the side. It worked out, though it ended up costing about the same as a kids' pho for what amounted to a simple substitution. Outside of that, the experience was excellent, the restaurant was clean, the service was top-notch, and the menu had a solid variety to choose from. I've driven by this place several times and I was finally able to try it. Plenty of parking outside. There is a good amount of seating for dine in also. I ordered the grilled chicken banh mi and the spring rolls for takeout. It took about 15 minutes for it to be ready. Everything looked good. The banh mi had plenty of filling with the chicken, vegetables, and mayonaise going great together while the bread wasn't stale and hard to chew. The spring rolls were about what would you get for spring rolls with plenty of shrimp and vegetables and a great sauce to dip it in. They have a really secure lid to avoid any spillage. We were greeted and sat down upon entering. Since it was our first time here we took a bit longer looking at their menu as we were really hungry and indecisive. The server recommended us some drinks. I ended up going for their seasonal boba drink at the time. They served it in a really cute drinking to go cup. We also ended up getting their spring rolls with the peanut sauce that was amazingly crunchy and great tasting! We also ordered their pork chops that were extremely tender and juicy. We ordered the Pho Combo, Grilled Porkchop with rice, Grilled Steak with eggrolls and vermicelli noodles, plus spring rolls and grilled pork rolls--everything was fresh and delicious. Our favorites were definitely the Grilled Steak with eggrolls and vermicelli bowl (Bun Thit Nuong and Cha gio) and the Grilled Porkchop with rice plate (Com with Thit Nuong and egg) . The atmosphere is clean and nicely decorated, and we loved the fun touch of a robot delivering our food. This review is for a delivery order. I cannot understand the high rating for this place and the only excuse I can come up with is it's an off day where the chef quit or was sick. This is the worst pho I've ever had in my life. I've never had a feeling where I wanted to stop eating pho bc the taste was so bland and bleh. Soup had no aroma, no depth and just tasted like salt and msg. There's not a drop of essence from beef bone in the soup. There's also no flavor of aromatics like spice, cloves, cinnamon, etc. Chicken breast was so dry, typical in pho places but this one is extra bad. Rare beef and beef ball was decent though. The pho noodles were not prepared well. They still had excess starch because they were not blanched properly or lightly coated with oil. Because of this... the soup became cloudy and diluted with starch, which affected the already little non existent flavor. Packaging can be improved as the bowl is too small to hold the noodles, meats, broth and bean sprouts. Fuffing the noodles is impossible because the bowl is too small. When bean sprouts are placed on top, I can't really even grab any noodle without everything just falling off the bowl. Egg rolls were decent, but the fish sauce is questionable and the veggies were a bit wilted/brown (not fresh). The chicken garlic noodle tasted like it was from a Chinese takeout place and the noodle is reminiscent of those cheap noodles you get from it. Also, the batter of the chicken is so bad that it tasted like it's been fried and sitting round for a long time. Chicken was also very dry. My husband who's usually not very picky said this place is whatevers and even said that it's not really garlic noodle, it just has pieces of garlic in it, but I actually didn't even see any.. lol Overall, this place's a huge disappointment. I'd probably not return. The reason for 2 stars and not 1 is because they have a lot of combos and customizable pho options and can even sub veggies for noodles. I came to this spot years ago before it became Mama Hongs. Decided to try. I ordered the Pho Lunch special with spring rolls and my son had the kids combo pho with chicken. The servers were so sweet and kind and very attentive to us. Unfortunately I was not impressed with the pho. It had no flavor whatsoever and it took the noodles around 10 min to fall apart in my bowl. I don't know why they were so stiff. My son found a piece of hair in his bowl. Some days just call for a traditional pho with the sliced steak, brisket and tendon; other days one really needs a great pho ga (chicken pho). Then I moved on to trying their plates - I ordered the special pork chop plate on their lunch special, and wow, is that plate loaded! Almost too much food, but all so tasty that you will manage. First visit, service was extremely slow and didn't even get water refills, wasn't asked if we need anything else or how everything was. We let them know we needed a high chair and when they sat us they didn't bring one over. We kept trying to wave one of the servers down but they wouldn't come to our table. My husband walked toward the bathrooms and grabbed a high chair himself. One of the waitress walked up to him and just watched him. Then walked behind him as he carried it to our table. She the just stood by our table the said with slight attitude "are you guys ready or should I come back?" We hurried and ordered. THIS IS THE CRAZY PART! I wiped down the table and part of the wall next to the high chair and got a huge splinter in my finger. So glad it was me and not my baby! I let the same waitress know and all she said was "well do you want to move the high chair?" and walked away! WOW! AND THEN! I asked another waitress if she's the manager or if the manager is working. Her response "Well, why? What do you need?" I let her know I got a splinter on my finger just by trying to wipe down a part of the wall my child would have reached. She then said, "I don't know what I can do for you."
