I had jury duty at the Fullerton court. It was one of those "call at 12 and be here by 1" situations, so I left work and headed over, skipping my lunch break to do my civil duty. As I walked into the courthouse and down the hall, I passed the vending machine and knew I would be eating pretzels for lunch. Lucky for me, I was dismissed in less than 2 hours and I was STARVING. Looked on Yelp and saw Clyde's was right down the street, AND they have a drive thru, even better. I ordered a 2 piece chicken strips with Clyde's Original seasoning and crinkle fries. I was the only one in the drive thru and it took less than 10 minutes. Brought it home to eat, it was good! Chicken was super juicy and flavorful. I went with the Clyde's Original, cause I do like hot chicken, but not TOO hot, so I figured level 2 would be a good place to start. Like I said, it was good. But it was pretty sweet and not a lot of spice at all, it wasn't even a heat that built. My mouth never burned. Their sauce is just ok. Didn't blow my mind at all. I asked for extra pickles, and they were great! I would know, I ate probably 6 of them (and some fries) on my drive home. I know they are opening one in Yorba Linda soon, which is more convenient for me. I'll definitely check them out, and I will take the next step and try the Hot As Cluck seasoning, hopefully it's the perfect amount of heat for me. Worst customer service ever. I understand they are just fast food workers but if you hate it so much they shouldn't be working there. Showed up (at 9:25) and were the only customers and the cashier took 10 minutes just take our order, then we stayed to eat and were so close to being done with our food and the worker kicked us out at exactly 10:00. We understand you close at 10 but calm down we had like 2 bites left of our sandwich you really couldnt wait the extra 2 minutes. They never fail to take forever even when there's only one car ahead. Twice now the same cashier Pam messes up my order where I clearly say GRILLED chicken bites and they still give me traditional. The first time I noticed when I got home. The second time I checked at the window and we told her that we ordered grilled not traditional and she told her manager "we have a problem" and she had a stank face. my bf tried to tell her that this happened last time and she just walked off and said it's okay. When she came back she said it would be 10 more minutes. She made it seem as if we were being extra when we were just tryna get our order right and she made the mistake twice. I got the spicy hot chicken combo. chicken, pickles, slaw, brioche bun... I got it hot as cluck. fries. drink. and got a lil clucker and it was $18. what the heck. Feels pricy. which... I guess howlin ray's is about $17 just for the sandwich and fries.. but this aint howlin. The chicken was dry, possibly because i drove 30 mins before I could eat it. The spice wasn't there. Tasted more like a mild from howlin. I don't recall it being anything special. fries were ok. eh. It was alright. nothing really stood out to me. Hot chicken is all the craze right now and I've been slowly making my rounds around to try and find the very best! My friend and I got the $25 family pack and this is probably the best deal I've seen by far at any hot chicken spot. They give you 2 chicken sandwiches, 2 fries, 2 mac salads and 4 tenders on top of white bread. When I saw the menu, I thought it would be 2 tenders in total, but they gave us 2 tenders each. We got Level 2 for spice just to be safe and it had a slight kick. I love spicy food so I will definitely be getting Level 3 next time. I'm not a huge fan of mac salad in general so I wish we can switch out the sides for coleslaw instead. The slaw that was in the sandwich was really fresh and tangy so I wanted more of it! The chicken was super thick and juicy and the buttered brioche bun was so fluffy and light. TLDR; I haven't seen a better deal by far than their family pack! Huge portions for an amazing price! Level 2 was good, but for spice lovers, I recommend going Level 3 and up. Super juicy chicken and I wish in the future, we can make substitutions for the mac salad for their coleslaw instead. It's in a great location (DTF) and there's indoor and outdoor seating. I love the outdoor patio - great on a sunny day! Food: Clyde's Original Sando - Spicy level (Hot as Cluck). This had the perfect amount of heat, but I felt like I can go up another heat level, probably check that out on my next visit. The chicken was fried perfectly and seasoned well. The sauce was good. This place is Bangin' Good Eats!!! Great location close to Fullerton college and so many different types of people come here on there lunch break at 12:30 pm on Wednesday. Super Duper Busy here at the drive through too not just inside. Hot as Cluck Spicy Chicken sandwich is legit and definitely worth the wait too. The crinkle fries are okay nothing special just the coleslaw too. The standouts are the spicy chicken breast and the dipping sauce. After all that spice you need a good milkshake to cool things down a bit. About $15 Dollars for lunch today which is way more expensive than Popeyes. This is a small place with about maximum capacity around 40 people and that includes the outside patio. The wait today is about 15 minutes to get your order. Not really fast food but considering just how busy it is here. Even if you go through the drive through it's about the same wait time and you be burning gas too. Food wasn't the best this time. I bit it and left it. Couldn't eat it. The ambiance was horrible. A group of bikers started a scene and argument. Cops were called in everything. Service was horrible. Waited for a long time in the drive thru, then when I got to order I was told to wait two times. When I ordered the sign said their soft drink machine wasn't working but I saw they sold Dasani water bottles so I thought we could substitute the soft drink for the water bottle in the combos since they are the same price. I wasn't informed at the drive thru speaker that they were charging every item separate so really I did not order my $14.99 combo. So when I found out, I asked them to only give me the sandwich. They ended up leaving one water bottle and guess what, they forgot to give it to me and I had to drive back in the middle of the cops intervention with the motorcycle people. I spent a total of 50 minutes in the drive thru, and no I am not exaggerating at all. All of the workers were too busy recording and watching the scene that the motorcycle people were doing. Even the manager lady was no help and completely ignored me. I've worked fast food service for 5 years before my current job and I work in customer service. This was a very horrible experience and it honestly ruined my mood and my "idea" of this place being great. I don't think I will come here again after this. I hardly came anyways so it's not a place I will miss. 4/19/25 was my visit. I'm sure other people had the same experience as me. Unfortunately, the sandwich was very average. It wasn't that large, and there was no heat for being the second hottest choice on the menu. Secondarily, the fries were also nothing special. Regarding the ambiance, its a combo of a cas place and a bit more upscale. They have TVs and outdoor seating. In addition, they serve beer. Likewise, the service was friendly and efficient. I remember it being just about as much heat as I can endure, so I ordered it again at this location with a side of fries for my combo. I also asked for a sample of the 1930 heat level just to see how spicy that was. After two bites, I realized it was definitely too much for me to handle. My dad got a Vanilla Milkshake, so I drank some of that to cool me down. It was pretty good! Our sandwiches were ready shortly after, and I was super excited to dig into mine. This time, the "Hot as Cluck" seemed very mild to me. I devoured the sandwich and barely noticed any spice. What I did notice, though, is that the chicken was kind of dry and thinner at this location than the Montclair one. The buns were also thin. I think even the fries tasted better from the other location. I was kind of disappointed with this meal, only because the "Hot as Cluck" was so much hotter when I tried it at the other location. SAFETY: Ordering online through Clyde's website is easy and the turn around for the food is around 10/15 minutes during lunch time. I've seen the drive through, get crowded. Inside, there are diners but for the most part, everyone inside is safe wearing masks. TASTE/QUALITY: There's an amazing deal right now that is simply too much food for two people. It comes in a huge foil container with 2 of everything: fries, original chicken sandwich, 2 tenders on top of toast, macaroni salad. All for $25 bucks! The taste is great; the heat level on the 'Hot as Cluck' is tolerable. The chicken inside is moist and the breading crunchy. Tbh, probably the best in the area. Hotties (Chino Hills) was good for a while but the quality declined and its pricey (rubbery texture). And Crimson Coward isn't as crispy as it used to be, chicken's a little dry. Great to see a new spot pop up, this will be my go-to, going forward, for Hot Chicken in a 20 mile radius. Finally got to try this place for the first time and I really enjoyed it! The chicken was cooked well and moist! I tried the 2 piece tenders combo with fries. I got the original spicy level, but I think next time I would totally try the Hot as Cluck as the original had good flavor, but wasn't very spicy. The pickles were good on the side and the bread was tasty--I'm not a huge fan of Cole slaw so I was hesitant to try the sandwich, but I really liked the tenders and want to get them again! I went through the drive through and the kid that helped me was nice and gave me extra ketchup with a smile. The wait wasn't too long either, there was no one else in line, but I have seen this place packed other times. The location is busy --the heart of DTF(ullerton). I thought I'd have trouble making a left hand turn into the place and when leaving, but surprisingly, I was there at a good time and had no trouble! Got the combo: 1) Chicken sandwich has fried chicken breast strips where the golden brown batter is thin and crispy except where the steamy moisture from the warm chicken meat softens the batter. The breast meat strips are moist in texture, but slightly mealy at the same time. Also lacking is a pleasant slightly gamey, Jidori chicken Umami. I got the original piquancy level which had a slow burn. Dressed with sweet mayonnaise based crunchy in places coleslaw, slices of sweet yet tangy bread & butter pickles. The buns remind me of soft KIng's Hawai'ian sweet bread. Small container of thousand island looking dressing which I used as a condiment for the crinkle fries. 2) Crinkle fries were just ok. Mostly slightly lImp; Nothing extraordinary. 1-2a) Ice tea had a faint fruity raspberry flavour. Rather flat, watered down. There is also presweetened for those who like a more Southern approach. The guy taking the order was helpful & welcoming with suggestions and patient since it was our first time. Food came out quickly so obviousy everything was precooked. Does Clyde's face up to Howlin' Ray's? Perhaps not. But Howlin' is miles and an hour away in DTLA. Not to mention there's up to a 3 hour line once there. After going on a search (unsuccessfully) for Popeye's chicken sandwich, we were craving a chicken sandwich, so we came here. We've been here once before and liked it, but this time we went through the drive thru. We ordered a 3 piece chicken strip combo with fries and a Clyde's original sandwich with waffles. The chicken strips were original heat level and the sandwich was hot as cluck. The chicken strips came with pickles and bread. OMG the bread. So. Good. It was sweet but also spicy with the sauce from the strips, and had a buttery taste to it. I saw they serve breakfast as well, and I would love this bread for breakfast. I could eat it all by itself with some coffee, mmm. The strips were good, nice and crispy on the outside and moist and tender on the inside. I should've got only 2 pieces because I got full and couldn't finish the last one. The sauce it comes with is delicious, too. Similar to Raising Cane's sauce. The fries were alright, nothing remarkable about them. The sandwich was good, the chicken was crispy and not dry. But the hot as cluck wasn't spicy to my bf. It also fell apart as he picked it up. When we ordered, he asked for pickles, but there weren't any on the sandwich. Luckily, my strips came with a lot, so I just gave him some of mine. Their waffles are amazing when they are fresh. I've had Bodhi's coffee and am a fan so I decided to see whats good at Cyldes! The first time I visited ( yup came back many times after! ) I decided to try their chicken breakfast sandwich. It is a dollar more but I think it was worth it and I wanted to take this opportunity to try their chicken. The amount I paid for this sandwich and coffee came out to about if I got a coffee and a sandwich at starbucks so I was pretty okay with that. Once I got to work and opened the box. holy cow thats huge! For some reason I was expecting it to be the size of a mcmuffin or starbucks breakfast sandwich. But this was a legit chicken sandwich... about the size of a burger. Inside was the chicken, some eggs, and a hash. So goood! IT was filling, came with a sauce and some ketchup. Second time around I got the bacon sandwich and it was just as good! For the size it is and the great black coffee you get. It is so worth! Clydes is always a good choice. Everytime I go I get this family pack because it is the best deal for your buck. Each combo meal is about $10 but for $25 you can get 2 sandwiches, 2 mac salad, 2 crinkle cut french fries, chicken tenders and sauces!! The only down side to the family back is that you can't ask for waffle cut fries and you can only get one spice level for the entire pack. They have good spice levels for good flavor. Their sauce is thick and quite strong but nonetheless good. Sandwich: The sandwich is my favorite, the bun is soft but i just wish they added coleslaw. I am sure they forgot to put it on because the original comes with coleslaw which was sad. Without the coleslaw it tasted dry and plain. The down side is that you might have to pick at the chicken unless you like gristle! Sandwich pairs well with the pickles! Chicken Tenders: The chicken tenders are good because they are more juicy. They had gristle as well so i had to pick around it. They are decent size and seasoned well. Crinkle Cut fries: I look forward to their fries because they are always so warm and toasty! They are crispy but soft in the middle. They are seasoned well and are quite filling. Mac: The mac is good. It could have more flavor but it's a nice side. The noodles are soft. Now they introduced New cauliflower options which looked so intriguing. I think I will go back to try it. It's going to be hard to choose one cauliflower option over this large family pack though! This one star is in regards to their service only or rather the lack of service. This is not a rating for their food (the food is good). I'm typically not the type to leave a bad review (I usually just stop going if the place sucks) because I've worked in the food industry for over 10 years, but my kids love this place so I'm hoping upper management will see this and make some changes that will optimize the workflow in the kitchen. I ordered food at their drive thru - total of 6 strips, fries, and a coke. I get to the window and pay $27.99. The employee was nice and hands me the receipt, time: 4:36pm. There's no one else in drive thru, there's no cars behind me, patio didn't look too busy either; maybe 2-3 people. I did not get my food until 5:05pm. That is a ridiculously long time to be sitting at a drive thru window waiting for food. I really hope they work on this part of the business because I know I'm not the only one experiencing this type of service. My boyfriend hates this location because of the unbelievably long wait time and I thought he was exaggerating; I witnessed it for myself today. Honestly, I'd rather go to raising canes or chick fil A, because even though they are significantly busier, I get my food faster. Please work on this! Nashville Hot Chicken, it had been on my list of to food to try for quite some time. With Clyde's opening up in DTF I knew it was only time until I made my way there. It was spicy, well served, and kicked my butt. I do like spicy food, so much so that I have a hot sauce collection going (thanks to Hot Ones). So I kind of knew what I was getting into, but NHC is a different than your normal spicy foods. The coating is sort of, caked on. It is not saucey, but def not a dry rub either. I ordered the 4 strip combo in "Hot as Cluck" with a side of fries. The meal is served with a sauce that is similar, but different to the one from Raising Cane's. You get plenty of food for the price that you pay, some people in my group ordered the wings which came piled high as well. The overall flavor was good. The spiciness gets you right away. There is no running away from it, and you can only tackle it head on. My tenders were moist, except for one that burnt. The sauce is okay, def not as good as Cane's. The fries are just fries, and now I wish I would of gotten the Mac Salad. Verdict: So -1 for the burnt tender and the okay sweet tea, everything else was good. I am down to try the 1930 next time, but may need a partner in spicy crime to help me out. read more

The menu board through the drive-through says two sauces come with a three-piece chicken. When you get home, there's one sauce. You have to go back to the store walk in and ask for another sauce. It's ridiculous. The nice girl at the counter said oh yes only one sauce comes with it, but the sign does say two sauces. This isn't the first time they have done this either. Been driving by this place for a while. Finally came in to try their food. It's a chicken sandwich place, so the menu is limited to chicken. Food was pretty good, but pretty pricey. For the price I would rather go somewhere else. The music was super loud and the air conditioning was on full blast. Food got cold really quick. It was like a meat locker in there. I don't get cold too quickly either. Service was alright; they greet you, but don't turn around to look at you. The employees were nice, but seemed fake. HOLY HOLY! i wish this place hadn't popped up on my yelp search.. because there's a very addicting flavor to their chicken presentation. My first impression of their menu was that it was small- options are either strips, sandwiches or wings. I went for the 6 piece wings original spice level. I'm glad I didn't have any expectations because what I experienced was just.... total mouth shock! Maybe I'm a newb at "hot chicken" but damn..... here's the best way I can explain it: CRUNCHY, HOT, JUICY, ZESTY, SWEET, SPICY EXPLOSION ALL AT ONCE! When you look at the chicken it doesn't look like much and you're somewhat confused because they appear like they're dry rubbed, but when you touch it- there's a hot sauce drip coating! I made a funny mistake of touching the wings when they were hot and when i dropped it back in the box I had seasoning spice on my fingers- so I licked them lol... AND it reminded me slightly of flaming hot cheetoh flavor! LIKE BRUH. I ate 4 wings and got full and satisfied from the fat and savory acid flavors! I also ordered Mac salad! It's a cold side- and it was a PERFECT pair to cool off the heat of my wings. It looked creamy and I was turned off at first, but there's more of a tang/mustard taste! Nashville style hot chicken is finally making its way down to Orange County finally. There was no way in hades I was going to sit in line for hours at Howlin Ray's or drive to LA for a meal, so I was excited to see Clyde's open up!!! Located on Harbor just north of Chapman, it's pretty easy to locate- if parking is tight you can park on the streets behind the restaurant. CHC keeps their menu fairly basic, you can order sandwiches, strips, wings, and dessert. They offer 4 heat levels from 'naked' (plain) up to '1930' (the hottest). Anyways we ordered some strips, naked style for the little ones, wife ordered a sandwich with 'OG' (standard heat) chicken, and I tried some strips at the 'hot as cluck' ( 3rd hottest) level. And that is when the problems start. As I tell my Yelp homie Aaron E- all jokes aside this brotha knows his chicken and as soon as I got the food the alarms started to go off! First thing is they got our order wrong, which was no problem as they handled it awesome, the lady gave me some extra strips which I appreciated. We paid 9$ for a sandwich with one strip, when I could've paid $5 for 2 strips w/o bread? Issa confused! So all of the chicken was slightly burnt- if you look at my pics you can see black spots from where the breading is burned, and that made me wonder how they make this chicken. It wasn't burnt enough to stop the show, but the chicken was dry as a bone due to the over cooking. I saw a different customer take their food back for that reason. I noticed although the chicken was spicy, it seemed that the spices didn't really make it into the chicken, and it made me wonder how they make this food. This was a 3 star review until I looked at some other OG yelpers pics, and yep the food has those burnt black spots all over the chicken as well. If you haven't tried hot chicken I don't know if CHC is the place to go- I'll be watching to see how this place goes, hopefully they can make some adjustments soon! read more
