Great steak house atmosphere, romantically lit, white tablecloths, well dressed, kind, swift, and attentive servers, free valet parking, - the way a celebratory meal should be enjoyed. Unfortunately the meal did not meet expectations. The coach salad with candied pecans was amazing, as was the crab cake appetizer. However my $50 boneless rib eye requested medium rare arrived tough, unseasoned, medium well, and more than 30% inedible fat. A $9 smokey salty bowl of sautéed mushrooms helped to soften the steak but a small portion of mushrooms added to the undecorated meat slab would have been welcome. The $9 bowl of salted, buttered, fingerling potatoes met expectations as potatoes would. My wife's $50 crab stuffed sole though was the killer and the reason for a single star. After one bite, she immediately became nauseous- I couldn't believe it so dipped in to give it a try and also became instantly sick. I excused myself to the restroom till the horrific nausea passed! We signaled our server, requested the check, and ran from the restaurant to recover. No restaurant, especially one delivering a $240 bill for 2 guests- should send their customers home sick. Guest feedback I left on the website detailing this to management a week ago remains unanswered. Caveat Emptor fellow diners! read more

I went to help celebrate a birthday. We were looking for a fancy atmosphere with good food for this special party. The decor was nice however the server and food was very poor. Dinners with English muffins were served with no butter or jam, the eggs were served cold. The server was nowhere to be found when we needed things such as salt and pepper. Coffee for 4 people was served with enough creamer for 2. For a resteraunt that charges high prices for everything I expected a lot better. My recommendation would be to avoid this at all costs. read more

Went to The Coach Grill to celebrate my wife's retirement after 32 years of working.We were met by Kat (no C) and then Joe the "man" who makes the restaurant sing. He came first to me then my wife shaking our hands and wishing her a happy retirement. We were then escorted to our table where our Ice cold, Chilled Pino was waiting for us. Sean our waiter was fantastic from the start. He opened our wine, let it breath then poured for our tasting, excellent start. He wished my wife a happy retirement also, the evening just kept getting better. Nice hot homemade bread was delivered with sliced butter which melted nicely. My wife ordered a cup of Clam Chowder which was filled with plenty of clams and potatoes and piping hot, followed by her entree of Surf and Turf, Filet Mignon and Stuffed shrimp with crabmeat, with a side of mashed potatoes and asparagus. By the look on her face, she was enjoying her evening. I started with a fantastic bowl of french onion soup which had a beefy taste covered with nicely toasted cheese, Followed by a Caesar Salad with hand cut croutons. And the best part came, My main course of Prime Rib with a side of garlic mashed. Joe came to our table several timet to make sure my wife and our meals were up to our expectations and that Donnas night was memorbable, which she said it was. Sean kept the entree's at a nicely paced time not to fast as to enjoy the ambiance, each other and her retirement night. It hit on all areas. Our dessert was a huge piece of Abe and Louies Decadent Chocolate cake with ice cream. The kitchen staff did a great job on the prep of our food as it all came out tasty and hot. No one ever mentions the behind scenes staff and it is important to mention them. Kat, Joe and Sean wouldn't be able do their jobs if the kitchen staff didn't turnout quality. Went here in May and everything from the food to the service to the room temperature to the cleanliness of the window glass was superb. We had a GREAT time at Coach Grill. Our server, Alex was attentive, professional and made the experience at Coach Grill top notch. Other servers stopped by throughout the meal - Kevin shared different stories that tied to the history of certain steaks and Dylan checked in to see if we need anything. This is our 2nd visit. Mackenzie was our server the first time and it was top notch service both times. It was an incredibly relaxed atmosphere which made for an enjoyable experience. Definitely a Treat. Sam, the manager stopped by and introduced herself and made sure our experience was positive. Overall an Outstanding Dining Experience! The food was delicious: the surf and turf was perfection! My daughters had chicken piccata which was also tasty. We also had appetizers and cocktails: Crab and Lobster Louie is outstanding! The Burrata and Coach salads are also great starters. Attended a pharmaceutical meeting here last night and all of the food was absolutely wonderful. Appetizers consisted of scallops wrapped in bacon and tomato and proscuitto wrapped mozzarella skewers. Then I had their Coach salad followed by the main course... filet mignon with creamy herb mashed potatoes, asparagus, and cream spinach. For dessert I had scrumptious crème brûlée with just the right amount of carmelization on top. If there's ever another meeting here, definitely count me in (talk was great too!). read more

Tonight was my first visit to the Coach Grill but my sister and her husband with whom I went have been there numerous times. The Coach Grill is a large steak and seafood restaurant that is upscale but relaxed. The atmosphere is that of a traditional Italian steakhouse. We went on a relatively quiet Wednesday night but apparently the restaurant gets mobbed on weekends. They are known here for beginning each dinner with their delicious warm bread and the bread lived up to the hype. Combined with glasses of wine, it was a great start to the meal. I ordered the broiled scallops with a side of grilled asparagus. The scallops were plentiful (7) and the asparagus were likewise well prepared. Others in our party selected the chargrilled salmon and the halibut and they were equally satisfied with their portions and taste. For dessert we celebrated my sister's birthday by splitting a rich, flavorful piece of chocolate cake! Service was attentive and the bathrooms were clean and nicely decorated. Prices are not cheap but also not outrageous. So for a special occasion or just a nice night out, the Coach Grill is an option worth considering. read more

I'd driven past The Coach Grill several times over the years and my husband has raved about it. When decided on dinner in the Framingham/Wayland area, our friends suggested The Coach Grill. They described it as "AMAZING!! It's one of the best steak houses we've ever been to- a little on the pricey end, but so worth it." So we decided to give it a try. Upon arriving at @ 6:15 on a Saturday night, the parking lot was pretty crowded, but we found a spot fairly quickly and saw our friends parking as well. We walked in and were immediately seated (we had a reservation). I was impressed with the size of the place and the coziness. I don't know what I expected, but it was not as dark as I assumed it would be and I thought it was fancy, but not overly so. Anyway. Down to the food & drink. The basket of bread had a small loaf of bread, cut into 4 pieces (1 generous chunk per person) with plain butter on the side. The bread was nice & crunchy on the outside, soft & hot on the inside. YUM. A great start. We ordered a bottle of Riesling (we thought we were getting a $32 or $39 bottle and when the bill came, it was $60!! We explained to the waitress that we had ordered one of the others and she immediately remedied it) and the waitress was kind enough to let me taste a Malbec as well. Our friend started with the Chopped Salad (crisp iceberg, romaine, and Boston lettuce tossed with crisp bacon, Great Hill blue cheese, tomatoes, radishes, black olives, onions, and our dijon vinaigrette), which she let me share. This was definitely delicious and I would order it again. My husband & I were not ultra hungry, so we split the 16-oz New York Sirloin Strip (ordered pan-blackened), which they actually brought already cut and on 2 plates for us. Nice touch! (Although, I would have eaten less and given my husband more had we split it ourselves, but oh well.) The steak was tender (but not as tender as a Filet Mignon, obviously), well-seasoned (we both really liked the pan-blackened taste) and cooked perfectly. Our friends got 2 other steaks (one got the Rib Eye, I think? and one the Porterhouse? Not sure) - and were definitely members of the clean-plate club! We split 3 sides: Classic Mashed Potatoes (I was not ultra impressed), the Fresh Asparagus (we ordered them wood-grilled with extra virgin olive - very tasty) and the Sauteed Spinach with garlic and olive oil. The sides were nothing to write home about, but we enjoyed them. Overall the service was good (our waitress was very sweet & patient!) and the food was delicious - but not the best I've ever had. Expensive? YES. But you get a good amount of good food, so it's worth it in my mind! We left happy, satisfied and full. I would probably go for Capital Grille or Ruth's Chris before Coach Grill, but would go here before some other steak houses in the area. read more

This was the first time I have dinned in since summer outdoor dining. This was my first and last time dining at Coach Grill. The staff and service were excellent. I found the restaurant very loud. As a group of 4 we all did not enjoy our meals. We did like the fried calamari. The stuffed shrimp was over cooked. The crab cakes were so heavy on the butter my husband could only eat 1 (the dish came with 2). The chicken piccata was greasy and the pasta was over cooked. Overpriced and lacking flavor. The drinks were okay. And also the free bread. Just disappointing and expected more after spending over $250. read more

During COVID-19 restaurants have endured staffing and kitchen staffing issues. Hoping to avoid such problems we made a reservation for 6 over 4 weeks prior to our dinner assuming the Coach Grille would limit and adjust the number of reservations walk ins and take out orders. But they did NOT. They were not only completely full inside but also outside under a tent. And they were very short staffed. It took 45 minutes just to get our drink order. 90 minutes to get our salads and over 2 hours to just get our dinner which arrived cold and had to be sent back. A restaurant of this caliber and cost should be ashamed of themselves! What has happened to good customer service and not the bottom line? It ruined our birthday celebration having to constantly inquire where our meal was. And the waiter didn't once ask what he could do for us. We are not in a hurry to return. read more

We had an excellent dining experience. We split a chopped salad, and it was more than enough for two; flavor was very good; crab-crusted haddock was excellent; NY strip steak had great flavor. I had it as it was prepared without any sauces. I ordered it medium rare and it was partly medium rare and partly medium; no issues for me on that at all. Again, flavor was terrific. We had the chocolate cake for dessert. The taste was very good; nice touch offering the thick whipped cream as an option. We brought half of it home -- huge slice, and it tasted good the next day. The setting was excellent as we sat next to the fireplace in the large space/room on the right. We checked out the bar area on the way out, and it looks inviting. The service was very good. Prices are on the higher end. But, take a look around, and you'll see that prices are up everywhere. Coach Grill offered reasonable value - that is, what you get per dollar. Overall, a positive experience in every way. I was a bit hesitant to go to the Coach Grill given some of the less than positive reviews. First things first, the steak is great. Outside of Boston proper this is the best filet you'll find in Metrowest. Mine was perfectly cooked - a little charred on the outside and pink on the inside. Dinner here again last night. We have been to Italy three times and the bread was never better then at The Coach. Old world service but not stuffy. Actually a pretty trendy young/mature crowd. The wait staff is the best of the best. No slackers here. Drinks always the kind you wish you could make yourself. The meals are far better then anything I can think of in Boston. Worth every penny and the waiter/waitress generally gets a +20 percent tip from us not because we should but because we want to. When it's that kind of evening where mediocre won't cut it. We had a private event for our son's impromptu wedding dinner. We were seated immediately upon our party arriving. The room was beautiful, and completely ready for us. There was even a separate table in there to hold the floral arrangements that we brought along with us. Our drink orders were taken quickly and the hors d'œuvres served without any delay. The bacon wrapped scallops were delicious. Everyone was very pleased and impressed with their dinners. We chose filet mignon, prime rib & fish. My crab stuffed fish was outstanding & some of the best ever. The desserts trio capped off the meal perfectly. The service was so attentive it was more like a dining experience. This was a pleasant surprise as the last time we came here was many years ago and it was generally thought to be reduced to a seniors only spot. We went here based on a friend's recommendation that is was a "suburban Capital Grill". Well we love Capital Grill so off we went. We had made an online reservation and were promptly seated. The hostess offered a choice between a table and booth, which was appreciated. The atmosphere was conservative and very tasteful with a warm and inviting feel. It didn't, however, feel dated at all. Our waiter Tim came over almost instantaneously which was really great. We found him knowledgeable and friendly. The service he provided throughout the meal was attentive without being overbearing. The gentlemen who cleared the dishes and swept the bread crumbs (a nice touch) were also very friendly. It's a steak house so we ordered accordingly. My wife had the Delmonico and I had the prime rib along with mashed and asparagus We also ordered a shared chopped salad along with some red wine. Before our entrees the salad arrived along with some delicious bread. As others mentioned, the bread arrived with these peculiar triangle shaped butter wedges which were not adequate for the amount of bread. The salad was supposed to have a Dijon vinaigrette but we could hardly tell it was even there. Definitely needs to either be made stronger or with a larger quantity. Our steaks arrived and were cooked to order if not on the bit of the rare side, which was preferred if you're going to be off slightly. Both were very good however the Delmonico was a little fatty. The potatoes were just ok. We both thought they should have been whipped more. They weren't lumpy but we prefer sort of a creamy texture. The asparagus was a tad on the undercooked side but that's more of a personal preference. The wine was very good. We didn't stay for dessert or coffee as we had an engagement to attend after. The bill came to $180.00 before tip. Our overall impression was very good and we will most likely return. Good service, atmosphere, and food. The prices are too high though. When the bill approaches $200 for two you expect excellence. Just very good doesn't cut it. Had the price point been 20% less this would be a new go to spot for us as we live fairly close. But instead it's probably going to end up being a spot for Birthday dinners and other special events. read more

We told them, upon our arrival, we had a reservation for 6:30. All we got were unhappy looks, no welcoming comments, and the attitude we were "NOT" welcomed. The restaurant was not terribly busy and we did have a confirmed reservation. Also, we placed no demands on where we wanted to be seated. The older gentleman who seated us, could not have been less friendly... as we seated ourselves he just walked away and left menus on the table as though it was an "effort". On the other hand, our waitress, Angela, was extremely friendly, attentive, and made some good recommendations. We have been patrons many times and usually have a good experience. Your first entrance into any restaurant you should feel welcomed. Your Greeters and Seaters should be trained in hospitality!! The Coach Grill was fantastic! And youd never know by the cheesy wagon wheel out front. I wasn't sure what to expect but this restaurant I think rivals some of the best steak houses out there, not quite Ruth's Chris or Maestro's level - but close and a bit less expensive. The restaurant is very large, when you walk in you can go to the lovely bar on the left, where there many tables as well as tall tables by the bar, and to the right is a huge dining room. We started with a drink at the bar and, drum roll please, the Coach Grill has bumped Musso and Franks for my favorite martini. It was so nuts I had to take a picture. In addition to the martini you get in a glass, the pour the extra into a glass cylinder and put that in a small bucket of ice. And it was tasty too! The lobster bisque and French onion soup were great! We all had various steaks and they were cooked perfectly. We also got the mashed potatoes and creamed spinach, my husband liked them but they are not my cup to tea to begin with. For dessert we got the sundae and I must say, it was really delicious and memorable as far as sundaes are concerned! The service was very attentive and friendly too. The crowd was definitely older and you saw a lot men in jackets and gold watches as well as Tommy Bahama, so you could get away with jeans but I would say try and look nice and presentable. We had a drink at the bar before dinner and had a great bartender who overheard that I was celebrating my birthday and he complemented my drink! The food was delicious! What wasn't great was our service. My boyfriend and I are not from the area and we were hungry after apple picking so we stopped by the first open place. We walked in dressed casually, saw it was a fancier place, and I immediately panicked; however, the hostess said we were dressed fine after I asked about a dress code, and sat us. The wait staff initially seemed friendly, but after that we received little attention. While we were eating, another wait staff member came over and started clearing our plates WHILE WE WERE STILL EATING. The woman bussed the rest of our table before we were able to reach for another roll (which are UNREAL) and we were left at the table with not even the check. Not sure if it's policy to be less than courteous to people who aren't decked out in expensive clothing, but we didn't feel welcome there at all, we didn't even get a "have a nice day" from anyone besides our first waitress. No matter where you work, it's never cool to judge someone on what they look like, especially if they're giving you the money regardless. Coach grill came highly recommended from friends. Made a reservation for 8pm on a Saturday night for birthday dinner. We waited at the bar until 845 before our table was ready. Then we were seated at a throughway where we had the pleasure of watching carts of uneaten meat and food being pushed to the kitchen. Asked to be moved and that was nice since it only took 10 minutes to get the new booth table. However our waiter waited another 15 minutes to get our drink order and then another lengthy time before our dinner order. Received our dinner at 945pm when the wait staff, including our waiter, we all lingering about closing up for the evening. My steak was overdone but I did not send it back given the late hour. We are parents of a one year old and are quite tired by 10pm and could not wait any longer for food. Apart from the steak the food was good steak house quality. The ambiance is traditional but lovely. The service staff was just upsetting for the reasons outlined previously and the fact that our waiter just had an attitude towards us all evening. We don't get out often so this was a huge let down for us. I doubt we'd risk returning. This past Saturday we dined is as a party of 4 and for the money spent the service was that of a chain establishment. Luckily we were all splitting the check as for one person it would have been a much worse experience with that level of service. Our waitress forgot to put in one of the apps we ordered so we canceled that as our food was coming out when we brought it to her attention. Then the waitress put in the wrong order and when we stated it wasn't what we ordered she blankly stared for a moment and responded with 'Oh you must have ordered incorrectly without realizing, let me ask the kitchen to make you a new dish". Very rude as we didnt want a new dish just what we ordered but nonetheless we just kept the wrong item and made due. read more

The coach girl has been one of our favorites for many years. We had dinner on a Sunday night in their outdoor area. It was absolutely wonderful. Our waiter Alex was attentive and professional. The food was, as usual, absolutely perfect. The New York strip was cooked perfectly as was the Coach Grill filet mignon. The sides were wonderful. Our maple old-fashioned and Coachman's margarita were perfectly crafted. The tables were spaced apart and we were comfortable with the temperature. It was a fantastic end to the week. read more

Went here for my wife's birthday. We got there around 5:30 on a Friday and it was pretty dead. That turned around pretty quick, it was completely filled by 6:15ish. I started with their iceberg salad which resembles a wedge salad, my wife had the clams casino. We both had the strip steak with a side of cheesy broccoli and brown rice pilaf. The food was delicious. I had the Coach Grill Sour, which is much like a whiskey sour but it has a Malbec floater, I was skeptical at first, but it was great.
