During a recent trip to Florida we decided to try out Coast at The Ritz. I'm so glad we did. Everyone was pleasant and friendly. The food and drinks were phenomenal. Tyler, the bartender took care of us since we sat in the bar area. He was very knowledgeable and attentive, he even made a delicious "mocktini" for my 17 year old. Overall we enjoyed Coast and plan to go back again on our next trip. read more

Staying at the Ritz-Carlton, this restaurant is something you would NOT expect. Starting off, the water smelt and tasted like crab water; no one touched it after the first sip. Following this, we ordered the calamari and crab filled hush puppies; the breading on the calamari was ever so slightly seasoned; it tasted very bland. The crab filled hush puppies are something I wouldn't recommend, the combination does NOT go well. After this, I ordered the catch of the day, (Swordfish), it came with grits and mashed potatoes, the grits and potatoes were AMAZING. However, the swordfish came a little rough and possessed an odd taste. On the other hand, the hostesses were very kind; we got seated very quickly. Our waitress took quite a while to serve us, but was very nice and helpful. The location, view, and ambiance of this place was perfect. Palm trees, faint music, open areas, and nicely designed decor, (Outside seating). Overall, this restaurant has quite some adjustments that need to be recognized; without regarding those, it becomes a fairly decent place to enjoy an acceptable meal! read more

When you eat at a five-star resort like the Ritz, there's a certain expectation level. Like having properly cooked food. In this instance, they served me chicken that was raw in the middle. And by raw, I mean completely uncooked. First time in my life this has ever happened, and I'm not somebody who shies away from Waffle House or random buffets. Think about it: raw chicken. I called the waitress over, she apologized profusely. I didn't want to eat anything from there so she promised to have the chef follow up later that day. He did -- 24 hours later. Still waiting on a few things they promised to make it right. No follow through. Extremely disappointed with the whole experience. Then I come to find out a friend was served raw fish when she ate here. I'm just thankful I wasn't violently ill! Shame on you, Ritz! read more

Not impressed. Most of the food was good and cocktails too. But I do expect more from a place like this. My pet peeve is some receiving their food before others. Three people had to wait over 5 min for their food. Then my son's steak was cooked wrong and again wrong on next attempt. We sat outside and it was warm. I drink all my water and ran out. Only got a refill after I was done eating. No one came around to check on our drinks. We were there late and wasn't crowded. read more

This place is ok. I feel the ritz should step up their game and give this menu a makeover. The food is just ok. Not anything to brag about and kind of overpriced for what you get. But when you are hungry this place will do just eat a lot of bread that was delicious. The oysters were ok they were supposed to be hot but they were warm I did like the collard greens tho. The boiled peanut hummus was very bland needed a lot of work veggies were fresh tho. The pimento cheese ravioli was surprisingly good but it is a very heavy dish lots of cream and cheese. The service here is great tho hats off to these beautiful people! read more

We've been to many "Marriott" restaurants over the years, and we are usually not very impressed. Coast exceeded our expectations with the breakfast bar selection. I was weary to go, but it's convenient location to our hotel room made it our choice for the morning. We are glad that we came. We were pleasantly surprised. Definitely recommend if you're looking for a great place for breakfast. :) read more

Are you kidding me? This place rocks! First of all, our server Pat was da bomb. Very kind and informative. Wedge salad was to die for - instead of bacon there was pork belly. Main course was a Low Country boil - yummo! Fresh whitefish/big shrimp/clams/andouille sausage/corn on the cob/purple potatoes - big enough to split! Coast - New American Near Me - Amelia Island, Florida

My wife, daughter, and I dined there this past week. We enjoyed the patio dining ambiance. It was dark, but we could tell the ocean views would be spectacular during the day. Not as much could be said of the coffee shop ambiance for the indoor seating. The service was excellent--up to that standard you'd expect from a Ritz Carlton. However the food was not up to the standard one would expect from Ritz. The Calamari appetizer was well prepared, but nothing interesting or special. For the mains, my daughter ordered the "Chef's Garden" vegetarian plate. For $28 she was served a scoop of succotash, the same as the vegetable side dish that comes with the scallops. I mention the price here because the dish 1) did not reflect the description of the meal and 2) was not in any shape or form a vegetarian main course meal. My wife had the scallops, which were well prepared, but nothing memorable. I had the grouper, which was overdone and dry. Cocktails were OK. A nice pour, but not terribly flavorful per the description. All-in-all, disappointing for ~$75 per person, including drinks and tip. There are much better options on Amelia Island for higher end, "casual" dining. read more

This restaurant boasts beautiful decor, a creative and delicious menu, great ambiance and stellar service. The manager Amy and her colleagues have spoiled us and our kids since we have been staying at the Ritz. The fried chicken and waffles was delicious and the breakfast buffet looked amazing. Specialty drinks are great but small for the $16 price tag. The food selection is good but not the quality you would expect at this price. The Ritz Carlton is a beautiful hotel on the Beach, and their restaurants are up to par. Coast is a laid back American restaurant near the pool that specializes in seafood. The service is excellent, with attention to details. They offer magazines and newspapers to read while enjoying your meal. I recommended, if they have it during your visit, the blackened grouper sandwich with house chips. The grouper is flaky, sweet, and juicy, with mayo aioli and olive relish to compliment. read more

Poor service. Char grilled oysters came out cold - server just shrugged it off and didn't offer to replace it. Meals were ok but our server was pretty much absent the entire dinner. When I asked if they validate parking for guests he said no. Asked at the hostess desk and they gladly validated our ticket. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY. Food was average at best. My husband and I wandered in on a Monday for dinner. We did not have a reservation. The place was half full and even with that the hostess told us it would be a 15 minute wait. We tried not to laugh. We waited about that long at the bar then were seated. I still cannot figure out why we had to wait. While the maitr'd and server were just superb, the food took a long time to arrive and was very bland. I had salmon that was supposed to be bbq'd but it was just plain salmon. Between the dinner and one drink each at the bar the bill with tip was well over $100 and really not worth it. It did convince me not to return during the rest of our vacation to eat there or anywhere on the snooty Ritz property. Rather we found our way to downtown Amelia Island and ate at a beautiful good place right on the harbor called 'Brett's'. It was fabulous, great views and tasty affordable menu. Great gluten free menu. They even brought out GF bread which was unexpected. The appetizers were disappointing. The oysters with collards appetizer was really bitter. The chowder was think and flavorless. The poached lobster was much better. All of our meals were pretty good- bbq shrimp, grouper and NY strip. Wish I had saved room for dessert because they looked fantastic. Will try next time. read more

It is clear that the head chef is NOT happy. The special was horribly dry and had no flavor (perhaps get a lesson from the chefs at Palm Valley Fish Camp in PVB, who has mastered snapper and All Fish frankly. My daughter's sweet 16 dinner was a bust foodwise. She had the tenderloin which was dry and tough. Her friend ordered a salmon dinner without accompaniments and it was dry (left on the plate).... when dinner is good, you eat it... 6 of us still had food on our plate... $28-30 dishes.... waste of time and money during this pandemic. read more

I wanted to take my family to a place I thought they'd enjoy. I have eaten here before and it was very good. Not this time. The "seafood chowder" was basically a thin potato soup made from a fish stock. There was absolutely no seafood to be found. It was a real disappointment. The shrimp and grits were a little better, but not much. Three small shrimp, that were terribly over cooked and lots of bacon. Obviously due to COVID, they were not busy, so it was surprising that we saw so little of our server. We had to laugh at her placing items, like the butter on the edge of the table and sliding them to the center. If you're a hotel guest and you have no choice, this may be ok. Brand new rehab of the casual restaurant at Ritz Carlton. Not ready for prime time! We ate here twice during a five day stay at the hotel. The first time was for dinner upon arrival around 8:30 pm. Second time was for breakfast a couple of days into our stay. The service was friendly but lackadaisical. The food was terrible and breathtakingly expensive. The chowder was really just gluey potato soup without an iota of seafood, served more or less at room temperature. Husband's hamburger was fine, nothing special. Fries were soggy. My 7" by3" truffle mushroom flat bread pizza was cold, tasteless and tough. As Bubbe used to say, "And such small portions!" Buffet breakfast the next morning rolled in at $78 for two of us (i had the less expensive cold buffet option). Hot items looked like they had been stewing on the buffet table for several hours. Bacon limp and greasy, grits kind of crusty. My cold choices were some very ordinary Danish selections, a few bagels and some rather slippery smoked salmon. Coffee was leftover from last night and the orange juice was billed as fresh but I'm quite sure it wasn't. Again, the service was exceedingly friendly but in the end it couldn't compensate for the terrible food. We had all of the rest of our meals at several of the many better restaurants in the area. read more

My fiancé and I were traveling to Amelia Island and stayed at the Ritz. He was there for business, I was there for pleasure. We met with some of his colleagues for dinner at Coast. We had been traveling all day so we were hungry. The waitstaff was friendly and the food was quick to come out along with bread for the table. The bread options were actually really good (I know an odd thing to like) but they had three options versus one type of bread. The food was lacking, however. We both really enjoy eating and are big foodies and neither of us could find anything that stood out to want to eat. He decided on the BBQ flatbread and I got the Capellene pasta. The flatbread I actually enjoyed but it wasn't anything that really stood out. The pasta however, was very bland and the texture and flavor was rather strange. The almond slivers they added did not do any favors for the dish. Everyone else's looked okay and they liked it but no one was blow away. read more

Excellent dinner and amazing service. We were seated in a picturesque location inside with a window to the ocean. Our server, Cristal, was amazing- attentive, knowledgeable and very caring to every detail. The seared scallops over corn succotash with tarragon butter was perfectly prepared and absolutely delicious. The surf and turf was reported to be excellent. The kids menu provided excellent healthy choices including an organic chicken breast and organic salad. The key lime pie with blackberry sorbet and a mango sauce was fantastic. Family dinner on Feb 10, 2018. Service was good, staff was friendly, but food was a big disappointment. Very bland / tasteless. We had oysters flown in from Boston and they were tiny. Crab legs had very little crab meat. Ham in biscuit appetizer was tough. Main courses were cooked correctly, just no taste. No go on this place until they get food situation corrected, which I hope is soon. read more

Fried okra the same. Deviled eggs the best among the snacks-- not to say they were good. Entrees without seasoning. This includes grouper, red snapper, braised short rib, low country boil, mayport bbq shrimp. No crispy skin on snapper as advertised, hopping John undercooked. Low country boil tasteless; crab legs devoid of crab meat. You get the idea--expensive but tasteless menu. Only good part of our experience was the wine. Desserts were once again UNREMARKABLE!! What a nice surprise! We visited Coast tonight and sat in the lanai. It was a beautiful evening so that may have cast an aura over an otherwise just OK restaurant. However we also were served by the delightful Olga who was as cheerful a server as I have had in many a moon. I might come back just for her. My drink was strong and my companions liked the wine by the glass choices. We had a late lunch a few hours before so only ordered entrees which we then shared. The chicken and waffles was the standout. It is a huge portion, frankly the three of us could have split that and had a perfectly satisfactory meal. The food at this restaurant is not nearly as good as Salt, it's sister down the hall, however the combination of a beautiful outdoor space, friendly service and a more casual menu make it a great addition to the Ritz Carlton. read more

The Coast is located inside the ritz hotel. Be prepared for valet parking. If you are a guest of the hotel they will find a table for you without a reservation. At least they did for us. The Salmon was cooked to perfection and we paired it with an excellent bottle of Chardonnay. The kids shrimp, a cording to my 10 yr old niece, was very tasty and good.
