Going out with a crew of 11 can be a tall task, especially in Hilton Head where the restaurants are incredibly busy. Thankfully, we were able to book reservations for Coast so we made the trek to Sea Pines gave this place a shot. The place is located right next to the beach which makes for an incredible atmosphere. Unfortunately, the con is that a boardwalk cuts right through the outdoor seating and wet, sandy, beach goers cut through as you're eating. They said they couldn't seat all 11 of us together so we had to split two tables between the 11 of us. I don't know the reason but it's less fun to not have everyone seated together. We sat down and opted for some simple appetizers including the Shrimp Nachos. I typically try to steer clear of any nachos but they decent and good for a small group. For my main dish, I opted for a Whole Snapper. The fish was great but every time I get a whole fish, I forget why I usually don't. It's just extra to pick out bones and such, but the flavor and spiciness of the fish was good therefore it was worth the effort. I was able to try the Sweet Corn Risotto and Cashew Crusted Salmon. Both plates were delicious in their own respect and I would try them out if I returned. If you're visiting Sea Pines make sure to bring your day pass ticket to your waiter and they will apparently reimburse you. Unfortunately, we didn't find out about this until after we left. All in all, I enjoyed trying out this place but adding up the small imperfections, I don't think it's entirely justified in price. We still had a good time, I just wish more attention to detail was placed in the serving process.

They have lots of outdoor seating but it's not really shaded unless you sit lower down at the umbrella tables. The bar was first-come, first-served, and it had seating with better views. The strawberry heat cocktail was good (not weak like everyone else on Hilton Head). The shrimp tacos were amazing! I craved them for days afterwards. My husband liked his old-fashioned & can dip. The hush puppies were good, but the portion was smaller than at other places we had been in the area, though the hot honey at the bottom was good. They gave me $10 off for the parking; however, there's no parking on site if you're not staying at the resort which sucks but luckily the guy let us in because it wasn't busy. Great service

Coast is one of my favorite restaurants on HHI! Our server Kelly was so friendly and attentive. This time I had the beach club boil which was outstanding. My Hugo spritz was also perfectly made! Another amazing experience at Coast and I can't wait to come back!

This place was amazing! From the live music during the day to our waitress. We went during the oyster roast and it was beyond pleasant. We had two buckets of oysters (each $28) and it was a lot. We also had the shrimp which we were instructions it came on ice at first until it came out, we asked the waitress for the hot ones and they were able to accommodate. The vibe was giving. We had to pay for a guest pass to access the resort to get to the restaurant. We got a credit with the restaurant for the parking pass price once we brought our parking pass inside for them to validate. We will definitely visit again next time we were in Hilton head.

Coast, in my opinion, is one of the best special-occasion restaurants on the island. The $9 Sea Pines gate fee is deductible from your bill as the restaurant is owned by the Sea Pines Resort. You can grab a great family pic by the ocean while you wait for your food. There are fire pit tables, a fun touch! Indoor and outdoor dining. Service is incredible and there are always fantastic menu options. Try the shrimp tortilla soup! If everyone in your party is over 21, consider the Ocean Lounge upstairs. Same menu, more adult vibes. Reservations recommended for both but we walk in frequently.

Visited from California and wanted to enjoy a nice dinner with my boyfriend. We came on a Saturday night without a reservation, but the host was nice enough to give us a table on the back porch where the views were nice. One note is that the drinks were good and super strong! The food was a solid 7. The oysters were great, but the other seafood dishes were a bit bland. I would come back for another date night just because the ambiance was nice and moody. The cocktails were great and it was relaxing to look out into the coast. There's a direct path from the outdoor seating area to the beach! Most people took pics out there after dinner, it was a nice touch to add to this place.

We came here for a kid-free night out, and it was the perfect retreat. We were seated at a fire pit overlooking the beach and sunset, which instantly set the tone--warm, elegant, and full of coastal charm. The view alone made the experience feel special. We started with shrimp nachos and oysters, and both were outstanding. We cleaned the plates, which rarely happens for us. For dinner, we ordered the redfish and a butterflied filet mignon, and both were cooked impeccably--exactly to our liking and perfectly prepared. We were truly impressed with the quality of the food from start to finish. Our server, Kelly, made the evening even better. She was attentive, knowledgeable, and incredibly helpful with menu questions, always checking in and making sure our drinks and water were refreshed. She even recommended an upstairs 21+ spot with incredible views, which was a great bonus suggestion. This restaurant offers everything--stunning views, an elegant atmosphere inside and out, exceptional service, and delicious food. I would absolutely recommend it to anyone visiting the island, and we will definitely be back.

Headed to Coast for an evening business dinner. The upstairs lounge is the perfect setting for such a meeting. Upon entering, our group stood near the bar and were greeted by a very warm and professional staff. The bar is extremely well-stocked with a number of restaurant-selected wine options. Also, they have a phenomenal bourbon display with many upscale options for the bourbon enthusiast. Once we were seated at our table, we were able to take in the amazing ocean view. I could imagine this room being a great spot for a date night. The food feedback from my guests was all positive. Collectively, our table ordered: hush puppies, short rib empanadas, whole snapper, short rib special of the day, chopped salad with salmon, and roasted jerk chicken. Our table also shared a couple bottles of Franciscan Cabernet Sauvignon. Great spot that I will definitely revisit. The only drawback was the $9 requested at the guard building upon entering the property. It's not that the $9 was a big deal, but I could see this being a minor drawback for some. I'd assume that Coast is aware of this and it would be nice if they were to validate or refund the entry fee for patrons who are just visiting the restaurant.

the restaurant was amazing!! here are some subjects: Food: 9/10 was amazing! i got the guacamole for my appetizer. one of the best guacamole servings i've ever had. the chips were easy to break when scooping guac but other than that it was amazing. they for my entrée i had the grilled halibut. it was great! it was just a little hard than what i would like. Service: 7/10 the waitress was amazing and very nice! however, we had a 25-30 minute time period between getting the appetizers and entrees. but we weren't in a rush, they were busy, and they apologized, so it was ok. Ambiance: 11/10 the view was beautiful. i don't really know what else to say. it was right next to the beach and you could walk right out onto the sand straight from the patio. also, there was a indoor space and outdoor space. the outdoor space was very large. other than all those things, i would DEFINITELY recommend! read more

Met family for a Monday evening dinner outside on their deck. We had reservations - seated without a wait. Plenty of parking. They had live music on the deck. Plenty of people dining. Brandon took excellent care of us. Three had the shrimp penne pasta special very good. Although I'm a bit spoiled living in St Augustine Beach FL we normally get more shrimp on the plate. This is the 2nd time we have been to this restaurant and one time was not better than the other. Even though my food was delicious the service was horrible. It could be a result of the pandemic, but our server had assistants for keeping our water full, delivering food, etc. I ordered the redfish with the mango salsa and red pepper coulis sub rice for smashed potatoes. However my mother had the same dish and hers had no sauce. Salt was the herb of choice, and stay away from the roasted chicken it looks like a Cornish hen that has been rotisseried for days. There were two orders of scallops ar the table for 36$ each one person received 4 and the other had 5. Not sure why scallops would be salty unless they were just caught........ It's a great place for sitting outside with the beach breeze, but I would probably stop with the coke-a-cola. read more

If you want FRESH seafood, this is NOT the place to come, although it is advertised that way. Previously frozen salmon, horrible. The redfish was super fishy (redfish is usually very mild and flakey). They couldn't even cook the green beans right. The only good thing we had were the empanadas, surprising for a restaurant that is literally on the beach. Overall, very poor experience. read more

We were back in Hilton Head for our 30th anniversary, the place where we went on our honeymoon. Looking for a special night to celebrate on our last night in HH, we are SO glad to have chosen Coast. They did everything to make our evening special. On top of that. The views were stunning, the music a nice accompaniment, service excellent and the food delicious. For starters, we had the Cilantro Avacdo Toast. A nice mile little kick to it, and very good. My wife had the filet cooked to perfection. I had the Seafood Sifroto, and I'm so glad I decided on that. It was just full of flavor and plenty of seafood. For dessert, we split the Coastal Coconut Cake and loved every bite. Very fresh and tasty! We look forward to making Coast a traditional stop on future visits to HH Island!! read more

Both portions were perfect and the price was excellent considering we were looking out over beautiful Atlantic Dunes at a sunny ocean day . Super view of the ocean. Great service. Had the blacken redfish special. It was melt in your mouth. Wife had the crab cakes. She said they were great. She is usually very picky with crab cakes. Only down side is that they charged $9 to get into the gated resort to get to the restaurant. read more

Recently stayed in Sea Pines for Thanksgiving week. We were close to Coast so we spent a lot of time here! Loved how close it was to the beach. We Mainly sat at the outdoor bar by the beach which was the perfect place for happy hour every night- so beautiful and weather was perfect. Our first night we ordered takeout from Coast for 10 people- they were very quick at having our food ready and was very friendly on the phone while ordering. Everyone loved their meals a lot! We ate lunch at coast one day- service on this day was mediocre but they were crowded so I understand. Food was good however- the chips and guac were very tasty but you only got a couple spoonfuls of guac and a ton of chips. Their salads were amazing- highly recommend ordering one of those! I never write reviews, but my first experience at Coast was outstanding! Our server was Michelle and she went absolutely above and beyond for my boyfriend and I on my birthday! She was so sweet and accommodating. I would definitely recommend Coast if you are celebrating an occasion. We sat outside; the views were gorgeous! There was also live music, which I always love and appreciate! Our food and drinks were all great too! We had coconut shrimp and a lobster roll- both were delicious!!! Great service, granted we arrived for a very early dinner and were the only patrons most of the time. Food all tasted great. Got the hush puppies which were good, the crab bisque was out of this world with flavor depth. Then we both had fish and they were cooked perfectly. Josh was our server and he was friendly and prompt, made good recommendations on the menu. And they served us a free dessert for my birthday. Great views. No complaints! read more

This place is so good. Words can not describe how incredible everything is at this place. The restaurant is beautiful. The food is amazing. The service is spectacular. The view is the beach so how does it get any better than that? The shrimp nachos are hands down the best shrimp nachos I have ever had in my life. The shrimp were cooked perfectly. The cheese dip on top was insane. I could eat these every single day. The lobster roll was unique with fried green tomatoes but it works. It's so good. This is my second time visiting Hilton Head, but first time dining Coast. The food was so delicious that my daughter and I empty every plates. We've eaten at the outside bar a few times..it is just the best. Best bartender ever (Kristen), awesome food and the vibe is just perfect. No better place to spend an afternoon or evening with great food and meeting new people and just chatting and visiting. The view is just fabulous...The whole patio is lovely, the service just great...they allow doggies! THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THAT. Every other Saturday from 1-4 they have live music, steamed oysters on the grill, plus the fuel menu. We have met such wonderful people here, and have visited for hours with new found acquaintances. This is what being at the beach in Sea Pines in Hilton Head in warm weather is all about. read more

We wanted to love this place. The hush puppies were obviously left over from the day before and nuked in the microwave. Bad! The Mahi mahi was great as was the redfish. Excellent experience! Our dinner experience was the best that we've had on the island. The atmosphere was open, bright, and inviting. The taste, quality, and freshness of the food was incredible. Our server, Joe, did an excellent job providing a premium dining experience. He was attentive to our needs and offered delicious menu recommendations. He was knowledgeable about the food and drink menu and 100% guided us in the right direction. I highly recommend visiting Coast while you're on HHI and I hope that your experience is as great as ours. 10/10 premium dining experience. We'll be back! read more

My husband and I had heard great reviews of Coast, so when we traveled to HHI for our anniversary, this was where we chose to celebrate. What a great choice! It was a chilly evening, so we ate inside by the large patio windows. The view is amazing! I ordered the lobster Mac 'n cheese and assured my husband there would be plenty to share, and I was right. This is one of the most delicious entrees I've ever ordered, hands down. The large bowl was filled with rotini pasta, delicious, gooey gruyere cheese, bacon, and over one pound of amazing lobster! My taste buds were loving every bite. My husband ordered the cheeseburger, which he seemed "very good", but could not finish it because he couldn't stop eating my Mac 'n cheese. The service was exceptional, as well. We loved Coast and can't wait to go back. read more

This restaurant was so good! We had a large group and we sat on the outside deck over looking the patio. There was live music and great vibes. The food was great. We got the crab dip and guacamole for the table and I got the blackened swordfish. We also split a bottle of the blue crab Sauvignon blanc and it was crisp and perfect for the weather. The seasoning on the Old Bay was a bit heavy for my taste that subtracted a sophisticated finish. Next came the Pan-Seared Scallops, and they were nothing short of outstanding. The seafood tower, the restaurant's premium offering, was astonishing for all the wrong reasons. Fresh seafood should taste of the ocean. This tasted like the water from a neglected fish tank: bland, watery, and utterly devoid of the clean, briny flavor you'd expect for a dish carrying such an outrageous price tag. The shrimp and grits completed the trifecta of disappointment. The shrimp were greasy, aggressively salted, and lacked any nuance or balance. It was less a Southern classic than an exercise in how much sodium and oil a single plate can absorb. If there was a standout dish on the menu, I certainly didn't find it. Perhaps the food becomes enjoyable after several drinks, because sober, it's difficult to imagine anyone describing this meal as worth the money. Poor service, mediocre food, and premium prices make for an easy recommendation: spend your money somewhere that respects both your palate and your wallet. The view is nice, watching the sharks of the pier was the highlight. Or rather, the only light.

Coast is a lovely restaurant located within the Sea Pines Beach Club, and it definitely delivers in terms of atmosphere and service. The space is tastefully decorated, with a clean, coastal vibe that fits the setting perfectly. Although there's outdoor seating with a view, we opted to sit indoors due to a forecasted storm -- which turned out to be a smart move, as a heavy downpour hit while we were dining. For our entrees, we ordered the Chile Lime Shrimp and a Chopped Salad with Shrimp. The Chile Lime Shrimp came with three skewers, each holding three good-sized grilled shrimp, served alongside grilled asparagus that was perfectly cooked and easy to cut. You can choose two dipping sauces for the shrimp, and with help from our server Kelly, I went with the Mango Chipotle and Jerk Sauce -- both added a nice kick without overpowering the dish. The chopped salad was fresh and colorful, with crisp veggies and well-cooked shrimp on top -- simple, but satisfying. Service was outstanding. Kelly was friendly, attentive, and genuinely helpful throughout our visit. She even chased me down outside the restaurant when I accidentally left my hat behind -- a small gesture that really stood out. I actually had to ask another server to take an order for dessert. I had to prompt her to ask what the specials were. She didn't seem to be as enthusiastic as the other servers. However, the orders came out quickly for the drinks and appetizers. Dinner took a while but it was very good. Appetizer was Kung Pao oysters which I liked since it was quite unique. I ordered crab cakes and two lobster tails with rice. I enjoyed it. For dessert I ordered Key Lime Pie. It had whipped cream and strawberries. Overall I'd go back.
