My son-in-law proclaimed the hush puppies the best he'd ever had, but the Mahi Bites and Duck Wontons were fabulous as well and the Pineapple Chutney on the Coconut Shrimp was fantastic. That was just the appetizers! Every entree was great; the Crab Cakes came highly recommended and did not disappoint. They were paired with the Filet Mignon for a great Surf and Turf. Others had the NC Shrimp & Grits and Crab Alfredo. No one was disappointed! Just a heads up that there are no reservations. Well how can you visit the OBX and not try a place that has been featured on the Food Network? We stayed right down the street from CC and had never tried their breakfast, so we got up early and phoned in our orders. We arrived 10 minutes later and the order was ready. The pancakes were ginormous and light and fluffy. Flavor was buttery. The crab cake breakfast sandwich was on point as well. My daughter really enjoyed the sausage one day and the bacon the second day. We had done dinner there before and breakfast did. It disappoint. Seems you can get exceptional quality food both at breakfast and dinner. A great experience with no negatives. Staff was friendly as well. Convenient location right in Duck. Is actually adjoined to a service station, which seemed kinda weird, but it is separated. We had their burgers/fries and the seafood steamer pots, which they offer as a takeaway pot you can cook at home and return the pot later, drive thru is around the back. All were good. This was my favorite meal that I had in the Outer Banks! We came on a Tuesday night and there was an hour long wait. The nice part is that there is an associated outdoor bar and eating area right across the parking lot that you can hang out at until your table is ready. We shared the famous hushpuppies, which were crispy on the outside and slightly fluffy on the inside. They were delicious with the butter. As an entree, I ordered the NC shrimp & grits, which were great. The sauce was smoky and flavorful, so it was nice that there was so much to eat with the dish. It was a bit chaotic upon arrival but between the greeter (who was also the bartender) and a waiter (that was not ours) we eventually got us sat. We did not know this place was featured by Guy Fieri but was kinda cool. My wife and I ordered the fish tacos and were very impressed. All ingredients were very fresh and packed with flavor. My daughter ordered the Dill Chicken sandwich and my son ordered the cheeseburger. Both of them loved their food and devoured it. Let me tell you, if my kids to not like their food, they will not eat it. Overall it was a great experience and I would definitely return. To be transparent though, the waitress we had was so stoic with little to no personality. Perhaps she was new? Not sure but feel she may not last. Getting sat was a bit of a challenge but it is peak season and staff were paying attention so can't really count off for that. read more

Traffic on 12 is a hot mess in the middle of summer. We changed our dinner outing from Table and Tavern to Coastal Cravings! So happy we did this change. food was spot on. I wanted spice shrimp and our table ordered 2 pounds. They were huge and flavorful and we could not stop eating it. Hubby and I also split the HUGE wedge salad. It was loaded with blue cheese, bacon, a fresh half head of iceburg and an abundance of dressing. Everyone's food looked delicious. The one miss was the crab cake. Our friends thought it was a little too much filler. Service was excellent! Our server was always there when we needed her. Food came out hot and everyone's meal arrived together. Went here for lunch and sat outside, it was beautiful! The decoration with the lights and flowers was delightful and it was such a beautiful seating area. We were one of three groups there and even though it was right next to a gas station, I still found it charming. We got the snow crab and the fried clam strips and both were delicious! Delicious low-key spot in Duck. A short drive away from the board walk and basically located in a gas station parking lot, with delicious seafood. Got the fish bites and hush puppies to start which were a good warm up to the incredibly tasty fish tacos. Our server had only been working there for a few hours (we were one of his first customers), but he was incredibly attentive and checked on us frequently. Cute restaurant considering it is adjacent to the BP gas station. We had our dogs so sat on the outside patio which was lovely even on a cloudy day. The staff was very friendly and checked on us often. They brought water out for the pups (on request) and gave us advice on the menu (much appreciated). I really wanted to love the food. I ordered the fish tacos and my husband ordered the clam strips. We also ordered the Mahi bites as appetizer. I like the flavors of the mahi bites and clam strips but they were a touch over salted. I ate some of my husbands clam and unfortunately it drowned out the tacos I was eating. 5 stars for service and ambience but 3 for food. read more

The restaurant is located behind a gas station so it was a little hard to find. We dined on the outdoor patio which does partially over look the gas station but is close enough to their outdoor Tiki bar that we were able to enjoy the music. We had the Duck Wontons which were very tasty but there was was not any duck inside. The Hushpuppies were very good served with butter. The Steamed Shrimp were very good. Peel and eat, a full pound, season with Old Bay and served with cocktail sauce. My husband had the Caesar Salad with crab cake. The salad was nothing special but the crab cake was very good. The only real down side were the flys. They were so bad that we actually had to cover our food with napkins while we ate. I would like there would be some method in place to keep they flys at bay but unfortunately there was none. read more

Food was okay. Staff is friendly. We had the crab cake sandwich, lobster roll, mahi bites, and wings. The crab cake was mostly crab but lacked flavor and fell apart a bit. The lobster roll is very small for the price; it's basically a little lobster on a small hot dog roll. The wings were tasty, smoked I think but a bit rubbery. Sis got the smoked ham, egg and cheese breakfast sandwich, I got the bbq brisket sammie and mom got the hamburger. My sammie was, BY FAR, the best sandwich of the whole OBX trip. Great fries, I ordered mine with truffle oil and parmesan (off menu). Sage was attentive without smothering. Would come back. Would like to see some warm drink cocktail offerings for cold mornings. Luckily, I saw them while scrolling yelp and decided to give them a try. We were all very pleased with what we ordered and the great customer service we received. It was surprisingly difficult to find a spot to eat around 2pm on a Tuesday in Duck. With the staffing difficulties many businesses have faced recently, particularly in a small town like Duck, there were few options open at the odd time we found ourselves wanting to eat. Fortunately, Cravings was able to satisfy our hungry bellies during our time of need. They have ample accommodations to sit outside, which is almost a requirement at this point. There are several tables located under a large tent, which I commend them for as a pale person. I appreciated that each table had a fly deterrent device which essentially looked like a propeller spinning on the table. My boyfriend also informed me that there's a stage used to host concerts every night throughout the season.  To start, we shared the Mahi Bites, which are buffalo marinated and served with blue cheese and celery. In my opinion they were a bit lacking in the spicy department; however, I am a huge believer that the right condiment can fix most things. Even though there was a large chunk of blue cheese in my dressing, I wasn't too mad about it considering that I love cheese. It just wasn't as ideal for dippage. For my entree I went with the crab cake sandwich basket. I was hesitant at first when I saw it came with a hefty $22 price tag, which is twice as expensive as their other lunch entrees (excluding the lobster roll). It wasn't the best iteration of a crab cake sandwich I've ever had, but it wasn't the worst either. I did enjoy the freshness of the cole slaw that came along with it. Their potato salad is also very good, which my boyfriend got as his side and was kind enough to share with me. Cravings gets the most points for being open when seemingly nothing else is. I will certainly return the next time the hunger pangs hit at an awkward time, and I would definitely love to catch a concert too! read more

Stopped in for a lunch bite and the food and service was good. The automatic wait time is 30-45 min but when pressed for a bar seat or outdoor seat the hostess usually can accommodate quicker. Got the fish and chips and lobster roll. Everything was fresh and hot. The lobster roll was $28 for what I can estimate is a 3- 4 oz portion. Just a fair warning, very pricey. read more

We loved eating at Cravings! Our waitress Kaitlyn was super friendly and attentive. She was able to check on us multiple times even though she was serving the entire patio area. The patio area was open and nice with a big umbrella and lights. The fish tacos were AMAZING! Loved the slaw on it along with the chipotle sauce. This place is also great because they serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner. It's so neat that they have to-go breakfast options that are affordable. My expectations were admittedly high for this place well before I walked in the door - only because I had recently run across the Guy Fieri FoodTV episode of Diners Drive Ins and Dives that had featured this place - granted it was the rerun from Season 16, Episode 3 from 2012. Even so, that gave it the intrigue and novelty that I knew I wanted to at least try this place out. Party of 2, off season (!!), mid day-ish for lunch. It's a small place. The inside decor is what you would expect for a local joint attached to a gas station right in the heart of Duck's quaint little downtown area. Very unassuming, nothing fancy, basic, clean. The menu is of course seafood-focused and, though a single page each for their Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner menus, actually has a fair bit of variation to offer including your usual non-seafood fare (sandwiches and chicken on their lunch menu and steak and chicken on their dinner menu) - see my menu pics. Definitely something for everyone but, again, highly skewed to seafood fare. Note: Cravings SERVES BREAKFAST. For lunch we ordered an assortment of items. My companion had the Fish Tacos. I had the Crab Cake Sandwich. We added a side of fries and cole slaw which was enough to share. We also ordered the Hushpuppy appetizer. See my pics. The food came out without much wait and it was all piping hot and freshly made, down to the well done/crispy fries. Thing is: the food wasn't amazing. It was good, don't get me wrong. No complaints at all. It just wasn't blow-me-away amazing. I mean...I guess that means something? In the world of so many places that serve sub-par food and then charge an arm and a leg for it - for what we had and for it being a lunch meal, Cravings was just fine. Thus the average-Joe 3 star rating. I will say prices were fair, not break the bank and not gouging for a beachtown tourist spot. I thought the overall value was decent for what we ordered. I was just hoping for the impressive meal Guy Fieri raved about on Triple D, that's all. What I need to do is come back, give this place another go and try other items next time. Probably come back for a dinner meal next time. Service was excellent I will say - attentive, friendly, responsive staff - which is always a plus. We were seated quickly and seen promptly by a friendly waitress. I ordered fish taco, my son a cheeseburger and my wife turkey and Brie sandwich. The tacos didn't have much fish and were mostly slaw. The fries were soggy. My son said the cheeseburger was just ok. The turkey and Brie pretty good. The flies made it a challenge to keep them away from the food. Overall a decent 3. Going out to eat in Duck is an *ordeal* so I rolled the dice with takeout. I was a little confused about pulling into a "gas station" and following the signs to go around the back and pick up my food at a drive through window but trust me, it will all work out in the end. This meal started off so well but then it crashed and burned. The hush puppies and mahi bites were delicious. The fish and chips were basic and greasy. They're made with rock cod and definitely needed malt vinegar and sauce to cut through the fishiness. They were served with a tartar/cocktail sauce combo that made me physically gag. The cheeseburger was well done (waitress never asked our preference), had no seasoning, no sauce - just a small patty, cheese, lettuce and tomato. It was something you could make on your condo grill. Fish tacos were good. This wasn't the worst place we've eaten at, but it was the worst food we had in OBX all week. It was a disappointing end to our vacation and it wasn't cheap at $110 for four people. read more

Be aware that they are only serving outside during covid. There is a tent and the tables are plenty spaced apart. They are wearing masks and the menu is a QR code on the table. They do have a bar out there with beer on tap, liquor and normal soft drinks/tea. I liked the tea. Went for a late lunch. Everyone was super friendly. Food was good, though it's all served In Takeout bags so not as good as when they are open normal (been here before). The BrieLT was pretty good. Would've liked it if the cheese was melted some. The bacon was thick and I wonder where they get the perfectly ripe super huge tomatoes. Yum. Shoestring fries, which I love, but again it's takeout so they weren't hot and crispy. Friend got the crab cake and said it was more breading than crab. Other friend got the bbq and said it was good. We will come back. Located on a turf field in a gas station parking lot, Cravings offers a family-friendly environment for live music and drinks. Though not on the water like nearby Sunset Grill or the Village, you can still enjoy a nice sunset. First come-first serve seating means that no reservations are required and you can grab a spot at one of the large picnic tables or nearby benches. People even bring their own beach chairs. They have games, eg pool, ping pong, and hula hoops, for the kiddos. Live music most nights for the adults. The bar line is quite long, but the cocktails are all excellent and made with full proof liquor. I enjoyed the Painkiller and Tequila Sunrise. The food stand offers some apps and larger options like burgers and sandwiches. Overall a good place for groups looking to unwind on a Friday evening. read more
