Gave 1 star because I am a manager at a restaurant and to seat a guest who specifically asked for a table was seated in a booth with a chair put up to it instead of a reg table. Maybe they dont have them who knows but I wouldve been in the way of servers walking thru LET ALONE if an emergency occurred. Needless to say I left. Yes I know that their menu doesn't change very often, but seriously, when have you had a bad experience at Coastal Flats? They are unbelievably consistent in food quality, in service and in keeping their restaurant spectacularly clean. I have worked in restaurants and owned a few. What GAR does with their chain is SO difficult to maintain, and they have done it for decades now. If you're looking for the next cool thing in restaurants then Coastal Flats isn't for you. If you're looking for one of the few places where the bartender introduces him/her self, is capable of describing the food or drinks with confidence, and then delivers in quality and speed, then look no further. My only complaint? Seems like the Ozzie rolls aren't as sweet as they used to be, but maybe that's just me. read more

My family is a patron of Great American Restaurants and I've been going to Mike's since High School. This Costal Flats is right by my house. Went there for the nice decor for a Christmas Lunch for my friends. Their food was good and the service was efficient, like we come to expect from great american, not cheap but quality and you got what you expected. My only problem was a stink bug was in the dressing, when we asked the server for help, they weren't interested in remedying the situation or locating a manager. Really, I'd give it 3.5 stars. Food was good. Always reliable at Coastal Flats and all restaurants in the GAR family. My main feedback is on their app for pickup and delivery. I can appreciate it's hard in the restaurant business and am happy to use their app as opposed to Uber in hopes they get more revenue share BUT they have some work to do on their app. I opened the app on a Friday at 5:50, it said 62 mins, I placed my order quickly and the confirmation said it would arrive at 7:30. Not ideal, but ok, I can deal with it. The food didn't arrive until 7:45. If it was a two hour wait I would've like to have known during the ordering process to make a more informed decision. For a $7.99 delivery fee I think it's fair to expect that the delivery time be a little closer. Food is so delicious you should try it but maybe dine in or pickup for now. read more

I started with the Yucatan shrimp cocktail: gulf shrimp, mango, jicama and avocado in a traditional tomato, orange and lime sauce. It's the perfect appetizer for a hot day. The shrimp cocktail is accompanied by a saltine crackers. For the main entree I chose the Hickory Grilled Chicken Breast, a dish consisting of green beans, roasted cremini mushrooms & brown butter sauce on angel hair. I was pleasantly surprised by this item. It was just really flavorful. I also ordered a Moscow Mule. I love how refreshing it was. I know that Coastal flats is a seafood chain. My friend and I visited Coastal Flats for a late dinner last weekend. Although the restaurant was busy, we were seated as soon as we arrived. While waiting for our food, we were served warm bread and water. We ordered fish fingers and pecan crusted fish fillet. The servings are generous and the food is delicious! I have visited Coastal Flats before and I am always happy with their service. The price is a little expensive than usual but I prefer to go to this place for my fish cravings than anywhere else in the area. I went here for a dinner with friends. The Ozzie rolls were a spectacular starter due to the rolls being soft and buttery. I went with an American classic for my entree, the bacon burger. The burger was cooked perfectly and the flavors came together. The service was pretty slow due to the large amount of people there. We just finished a family dinner at Coastal Flats and the service was just so-so and the food in my opinion is completely over-priced! My mom ordered their $28 Chilean Sea Bass and got small slices of fish, a large portion of rice and vegetables, she wasn't happy at all. My sister and I got their drunken ribeye for $40 each, and it seemed much smaller than previous visits and the ribeye cap was mostly removed and we only had a small thin piece of cap, which was disappointing. My sweet-tea was never refilled and the sever never seemed to be around to remove plates on our small outdoor table for 5 and our drinks were never refilled. read more

Our waiter, Sergio was on point!! He gave us the run down on all the specials included the app which was Firecracker Shrimp!!! Sold please bring one to the table!!! One of my favorite apps that never disappoints!!! Shrimp are always crispy, a decent size and the fire is slight but you know it's there! All bark and bite wrapped into one! Two bread baskets later (one with nothing but Ozzie rolls) our food arrived!! Hot and ready!! My mom had the Salmon Salad ( cooked to medium) which she was pleased with. Thick quality piece of salmon laying over a bed of fresh greens, needless to say all her salad dreams cane true. My daughter was able to secure the last Filet Mignon Tips and if you've here before you know it's always a 50/50 chance it's even available, since it's one if the first meals they always run out of!!! All their mojitos are great but this is my fav!!! If you decide to get a non alcoholic Arnold Palmer be prepared to sweeten it yourself if need be because the tea is unsweetened. One things for sure the service is unparalleled here as everyone is in team effort mode making sure all your needs are cared for while you dine. They even had the Easter Bunny on location for waves and pictures. Nice weather means outdoor patio seating and an outdoor bar to boost. In DC area for the weekend and happened upon this place - Great atmosphere and excellent food. I had the house salad with a grilled chicken breast on the side. Husband and I went here for date night before heading to the movies and it was pretty bad... we have been here a few times before but it really seems like they are going down hill, should've read the more recent reviews. Went in around 8:30pm on a Saturday and they had no wait for a party of 2. I was told to stand off to the side to wait which was normal but then the hostess completely overlooked me for another family that was actually heading out after finishing their meal to ask if they wanted to be seated. Really not sure what that was about and then the hostess was like are you waiting for a table? It just seemed very disorganized. Ordered drinks which were fine. Husband got a lager on tap that was very bubbly and fizzy but he's not one to complain. He did mention it tasted off but not the point of asking for something else. I got the mojito which is always good! Anyways, husband ordered the fish fingers and I got the shrimp with grit cakes. When the fish fingers came out, I noticed how pale they were but I just assumed that's what they looked like. The minute my husband picked one up and took a bite he said they were cold. I thought he was being dramatic... until I touched one and it was colder than the coleslaw. It seemed like they had completely forgot to re-fry it before service. He was going to just eat them as we have never sent anything back in our lives but this was one time we needed to. Our waiter was busy laughing and conversing with other waiters and staff so we had to flag down another waitress after 5 minutes of trying to get someone's attention. A hostess who walked by us actually completely ignored us as I was saying excuse me. After the other waitress got our waiter, he came over, apologized and said he would bring out a new plate. Afterwards one of the managers did come out to apologize but I really couldn't tell if she was being genuine or a little sarcastic. Husband made a little joke saying "at least they weren't frozen" to just brush it off but not sure if she didn't like that. After the new plate came out, our waiter never checked on us once...until my husband had to wave at him down for our check. All that being said, we will probably not be back. I'm going to start off by saying, I feel extremely horrible writing a review like this during a time when restaurant businesses should be supported. Experience: We placed a reservation in advance and we were seated in the closed in patio area (party of 4). It was pretty chilly outside, but they had the fans on and the heat lamps were turned off. We requested they turn off the fans, but they passively acknowledged we were cold. They didn't turn on the heat lamps, nor did they turn off the fans. We requested to be seated indoors and no one came back to adjust our seating until the food arrived. By that time I was frustrated and my kids were hungry so we decided to just stay put and eat quickly. Food: I ordered the shrimp roll and my fries and shrimp were cold. Again, by this time I was ready to leave and didn't want to wait in the cold for my meal. Overall, this was one of the worst experiences I've had at this restaurant. I get these are challenging times, so I was more than happy to leave more than a 20% tip. That said, we're not going out as much, so when I do find time and a place to get away from the house and have a warm, safe and welcoming dinner, I do expect the service to be on point. I'm not sure I will ever go back to this restaurant. I was not heard, I did not feel seen, nor did the food come prepared as I would of expected. SOLID 4 STARS....maybe bordering on 5 even...and this coming from a person who's not a fish fan (but was accompanied by 2 companions who ARE fish and seafood fans - and big thumbs up by them both). Given my non-propensity to fish fare, I was not the one to choose this venue, it was my friend who suggested it. In allllllll the years in the NoVA area, I had never been to a Coastal Flats. BUT, after having been this time, I'm sold. :) Beautifully decorated space, HUGE open dining area with lots of great booth seating, nice lighting - just beautiful, open, airy, comfortable and cozy. Parking: not a problem at all. This place is in Fairfax Corner (across from PF Chang's and Uncle Julio's), Fairfax's version of Reston Town Center or Mosaic or One Loudoun. We made reservations online just in case but we arrived for an early dinner (like 6PM) on a weeknight and, while the bar area (definitely a cool hang out area) was hoppin', the dining area was wide open. The menu truly has something for everyone. I had the Lobster Club Salad and my friends ordered the Fish Fingers and the Pecan Crusted Trout. We ordered a side of fries for the table (cooked well done / crispy but of course!). My companions commented positively about their respective dishes (see my pics). As for my Lobster Club Salad.....OMG. Blown. Away. Granted I don't think I've ever had Lobster Club Salad before so I guess, technically, I don't have an apples-to-apples to compare the dish to BUT not only was it beautifully plated and colorful, visually enticing with super fresh ingredients (SEE MY PIC!!!), it was DEEEEEEELICIOUS. An amazing complement of ingredients, a great mix of flavors, and just the right amount of dressing (and amazing dressing at that!). HOME RUN. I actually thought about this dish for days after. It was THAT good. And I would definitely go back here to get this dish again - maybe not even peruse the menu and just order this again off the bat. That good. I'd liken Coastal Flats to their other sister Great American Restaurants restaurants - Jackson's or Sweetwater - cozy and inviting interior, same great quality, great service and similar value / prices - good value for what you get imho. But fish/seafood focused of course. Glad I can now say I've been to Coastal Flats FINALLY AFTER ALLLLLLLLLLLL THESSSSSSSSSSSSE YEARSSSSSSSSSSSSS and can report that "I approve" and I'm totally down with what they're putting out there. Tonight was our first time eating here since we just moved to the Fairfax Corner area. Everything about this meal was 5 stars. We ordered the Yucatán shrimp cocktail, grouper special, salmon, and baby cake sliders. The Yucatán shrimp cocktail was great- best part is it actually had enough crackers to finish dipping/eating the bowl, unlike many appetizers that short you on chips/bread/crackers to finish the spread. Good presentation, too! The baby cake sliders were small (es expected), but packed with robust flavor. They were delicious! Our entrees were phenomenal- the grouper special and the salmon. The grouper special was served over orzo and was great, but the short smoked salmon was BY FAR the better entree and I'm even daring to say one of the best salmon filets I've ever had. Our waiter was phenomenal and the food came out pretty fast for a packed Friday night. Can't wait to come back again! I'd get that salmon filet over and over. read more

This was a pretty decent seafood restaurant which has various locations this one being in the Fairfax area of Va. There's a large bar located near the entrance with additional bar seating alongside the windows and booths extending to the back of the restaurant. The menu is pretty good not too expansive but still provides enough options with starters ranging from blue crab and shrimp fritters to lobster bisque, a variety of salad options, burgers and seafood based sandwiches, and entrees ranging from broiled jumbo lump crab to Hong Kong styled sea bass. Each entree was priced between $16-$45. I decided to go with the sweet & spicy calamari and the coastal lobster roll in which I substituted the corn on the cob for broccolini. Service was very good the dishes came out in a timely fashion and my waitress was very attentive. So on to the important items: the Calamari was serviceable not terrible but also not mind blowing, but they did provide a few different sauces with the dish which did help. The lobster roll was also decent, the bread toasted nicely, the lobster itself a good portion and tasted fresh, but I would have liked it to have had a little more flavor but overall a solid sandwich. One of the Great American Restaurants in NOVA. I honestly have not been here for years and when I finally had a chance to be in a town AND had babysitters, I asked my friend if we could have lunch year. No regrets... We went around the early afternoon, so parking was not too much of a hassle and managed to find one close by the restaurant. We were seated right away and it was one of those days where I just needed to have a cocktail (maybe 2). Our server was super friendly and helpful with whatever we needed to accommodate with our orders. I was too hungry and didn't manage to take a pic of my food before eating it. My friend got the fish tacos with sweet potato fries and I got the Sauteed Filet Mignon Tips, but without the penne pasta and replaced it with the cucumber, tomato & corn salad. I didn't want too much carb since I wanted to eat as many "Ozzy" rolls that did come out. I did also order the Mango Mojito with my order as well. The drinks came out fast with the rolls and the food came out at a reasonable time. Everything tasted really good and the cocktails def hit the spot for me! We were too full to order any dessert (This is honestly the first time I've declined dessert!).
